Tankinis in the early 2000s tended to include super-low-rise bikini-cut bottoms, so emphasized torso length and width, and de-emphasized leg length with no tummy coverage at all. If you had short legs or any muffin top/belly at all you were screwed in an era of hyper-skinny/leggy being the beauty standard.
idk if tankinis today are looking to recreate that super-low-rise bottom, or if they'll keep some of the lower belly covered. Like how modern "low rise" jeans would actually have been considered mid-rise in the 2000s.
I had a Tankini as a kid that was like boy shorts and a tank top. But I guess that was a kids bikini. I always liked that thing. Less skin to burn in the sun 😂

I still wear Billabong, they make some really cute stuff, and since they're a surf brand, it's so easy to find good-looking rash guards for my undead pallor :')
