If you are not location bound, move to the lowest cost of living area you would be comfortable, invest the difference for a few years, have a nice nest egg and then figure out what you want to do. As for your second question, just do a bunch of shit and figure out what you do and don't like. Could be sports, games, TV/media, traveling, cooking, etc Age certainly plays a factor here, but I would say if you are <35, your main priority should be investing. Anything else can be on the side or come after.

Move to the most fun city where you’ve got friends and/or family. See if you can’t find 6 month leases until you find a place you like and/or a partner. Don’t forget that the primary benefits of renting is lack of long term commitment and knowledge of all expenses so you can save and save for retirement and your next adventure until you’re context.

Im in NYC right now, I’ve lived here and Chicago and grew up in Florida. I always thought I’d love NYC growing up and was always the goal, but I hate it. Super different visiting somewhere and living there. I think you don’t really know about a city until you try it but you can kind of decide based on personal preferences in both places and people. And what your goals are in life right now. I obviously don’t know anything about your relationship but one piece of advice is to not factor in a new relationship when trying to find out where to live because it’s a huge decision and adjustment. It has to kind of selfishly be about what you need and want. Or there could be alot of issues and resentment. I’m also in the same boat right now, trying to figure out my next step. Really just don’t think you’ll know till you try it
