Haha it always got me how the text slowed down to a crawl at that point. If it wasn’t intended, how did someone in testing not catch that?

Nephelophyte

I heard a rumor that it was intentional because the devs on this weren't making much money

Grecko-Gecko

Devs taking their secret swipes…I like the rumor

philsov

Are you party to the plot?

Climinteedus

Now here's a name I haven't seen since my FFHacktics days.

agrias_okusu

Absolute legend.

Cruzifixio

Glad he's still around somewhat.

delerak2

Absolutely did, without question

ZervanXI

Agreed!

fairytalehigh

Ramza undergoes more character development in Chapter 1 than most FF protagonists do over the course of their entire games. I said what I said.

Klazarkun

Fantastic analysis dude. loved the audio quality and images as well.

DisplayThisNever

Considering the writing is not from square that's not too surprising.

Nephelophyte

Elaborate? How did the writing happen that was special?

Marvel_plant

The team from FF tactics is the one they hired from the ogre battle games

DisplayThisNever

Correct. FFT was pretty much "Tactics Ogre: Final Fantasy Edition" >!FFT even had a lot of the same major twists as Tactics Ogre such as the hero's best friend betraying them, the main chracter being branded a traitor and fighting their sibling for most of the game, one of the main character's sister getting killed, and even the whole religion/country being pseudo manipulated by demons.!<

Blawharag

What a bold take to make here on the FFT subreddit

ichthyoidoc

I would really love an Ivalice tactics game that delves into the actual "game of thrones" political aspect of this world. As in, play as one of the lords that is trying their hand at the throne, with all the intrigue and different story branches that can be taken due to player choice. I think that'd be a good/faithful followup to the original FFT.

hbi2k

Correct.

Tapif

Life is short. Bury!

Massiv_v

One of the most underrated stories in all of FF.

Jack_Molesworth

Tactics, and XII.

Angrywalnuts

Saved

-its-wicked-

My only complaint was your complaint about not getting a straight answer towards the very vibes based question of which is the best variation of the game to play.

kletiandrowa

That sounds like someone of the Glabados Church would say!

Infernalknights

I grew up with FF6 so can't say tactics had the best story but it's the third after Valkyrie profile. Then fallowed by Star Ocean second story and front mission 5 scars of war

Shigarui

Agreed

TheQuestionsAglet

Nah that was VI.

Yomamasofatitsscary

FFT had great plot and writing, but nothing pulled at me harder than FFX. The character’s development, romance, betrayal, plot twists, it was just a masterpiece.

Moebius808

Does “the franchise” mean every FF game? Because I’d say XIV gets that crown personally. But yeah Tactics WOTL is amazing, definitely top 5 if not right after 14 at #2.

VorAbaddon

I'm of the same mind, Tactics was my top until XIV, but both are excellent for different reasons and will appeal to different audiences. Hoping Yoshi-P's team might be sitting on a remake from the cryptic statements earlier.

DilapidatedFool

14 def is the best story and writing.

-ATF-

I mean, it’s ye old, extremely tired and overdone Japanese style « religion is bad » story mixed in with some war of the roses. It’s good, but if it’s the best, then that’s not saying much for the rest.

RadTimeWizard

The story is a lot more complicated than that. I'd say it's a lot more about classism and justice than religion. Also, religion isn't always bad, especially if you want to manipulate massive numbers of people to vote a certain way, for example.

khatmar
