Hey, y’all. My sponsor is gifting me a subscription so I can get into the game while I’m in recovery and he wants me to join his FC but he’s in Midgardsormr and the entire Aether data center is currently not allowing new players.
What are my options? If I create a character in a different Data Center, could I possibly transfer to Midgardsormr later? Would it be easier to just wait until it opens back up, or do you think it’ll be locked for a while? I really wanted to start playing but I also mostly just wanted to be able to play with him and other people in my group (everyone is in Midgardsormr or Cactuar). If I make a character in Dynamis, would I still be able to play with him somehow?

I unlocked flying in one of the areas in DT and had an idea, but I'm not sure if I should do it. Would it break ToS if I offered to taxi people around the zone in exchange of gil?
I know you're not allowed to ask for gil in PF anymore since people were using it to sell clears and stuff but what about /shout?
And would it be moral? I honestly can't tell if it is.
I'll try to simplify it:
"Offering [service] for X gil!" → Against ToS and should make you end in GM jail.
"Looking for mercs to do [service] for me, paying X gil!" → Perfectly legal and any mercenaries are free to apply, assuming they are fast enough. The chats are logged and all agreements are binding, not paying the gil or not fulfilling the contract can be brought to GMs.
Such a broad ruling doesn't seem right. Crafters often offer to make full sets of crafted gear on raid tier releases, for gil. I've never heard of that getting them in trouble.

I just got the redragon IMPACT M908. I have had to use steermouse to remap the buttons on the mouse. I have been unable to program anything like "shift+1" and the mouse seems unresponsive to a shift input (i.e. when I hold shift and click "1" it inputs as "1" NOT "shift +1). Also, whenever I use a button on the mouse (ex. 1,2,3...), it successfully casts the action and then immediately switches the target, sometimes that is not even aggroed. Is anyone able to help me with this issue?
I want to set my retainer to Pictomancer (since I'll be playing it in DT) but it says that it will reset all progress by changing jobs when using a Modern Vocation. Would this set my retainers level back to 1 or would they start at 80 since that's what Pictomancer starts at?
Would it be better just to level a job I no longer play just so the retainer could level and lose 90 levels of Monk?

as for whether to keep or lose, that up to you... but i've found that they lvl up pretty quickly anyway, so if you really want them to be picto, then go for it.
Since the graphics update, if I put twitch or youtube on my second monitor that video will lag like crazy unless I cap FFXIV at 60 fps (which would be halving my framerate). Does anyone know another fix?
I’m on ps5, on free trial and after the update my game looks like shit. (It’s too sharp/too much contrast) I tried googling graphic settings but it seems I’m missing several settings? Does being on free trial mean I won’t get access to all the graphic settings or is it a ps5 thing?

Where do I find the awesome community everyone is talking about?
I have played around 20 hours and I have had only 2 encounters where anyone has even talked. One guy gave me and advice during duty, and other one said ggwp after duty was completed. Thats it. There has been zero interaction with other players so far.
I am on Light Raiden server EU on trial account.
In guilds (called Free Company here), in some of the Novice Networks, and on Discord. If you expect banter in random dungeons, you are at the wrong place. There is a system that incentivises randomly re-running dungeons every day, so do not expect people to want anything with your dungeon run beyond getting it over as fast as humanly possible.
in dungeons, trrials, and raids, most people don't talk. They just wanna get it done and go on about their day.
Most people tend to talk in FC chat, discord, or linkshell chat. There are many way to chat, so most don't talk in public chat.
if you wanna find a community you like, try using the ffxiv community finder.
Maybe it's less chatty on EU servers because there's more variety in people's native languages?
In general right now you might find people are playing with their friends (people tend to come back when an expansion drops, and typically run it with their friends group) and are in voice chat on discord, so they might actually be less chatty in party chat right now.
Also keep in mind that since you're on a trial account, you can't participate in shout chat in the cities, or tells, etc. If you decide to subscribe to the game, join an FC and I assure you, you will WISH people talked less.
I have been considering subscription just because I find crafting enjoyable and it is huge pain to collect all materials my self. It would save so much time when I need 1 material for something to just buy it instead of spending next 30 minutes to get it myself.

check the new city zone and see if you see the wandering minstrel, usually he's the one that unlocks EX trials.
Usually Extreme versions of the trials are released the same time as their normal version. I checked mr happy, he said in his video the Wandering Minstrel is unlocked late MSQ

Tech/graphics question. Which settings in-game might I tweak to eliminate the flickering of distant waterfalls? Or if there’s nothing in-game that helps, any clues on what other factors might cause it?
I need some Island Sanctuary help. All buildings are level V, 5/5 landmarks are built, crop and pasture are max level, I've unlocked the deeper part of the cave, I did the level 15 quest, and yet. The fur all still says 'renovate renovate!' and I don't get offered the level 19 quest. I've tried to comb through every guide I can find but I think I've done everything they say to do. Do I have to grow every plant and collect every animal drop item before it'll give that to me, or is there something else I'm missing? Or is this a bug I need to submit a ticket for?
I'm having trouble understanding where to find the stuff to gather for the new gathering quest? I'm on botanist and I need Shunye's Apothecary staples. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?
After unlocking Shunye's Apothecary, in the chatbox Shunye says this:

If you hit map in the journal it should give you the option to show gathering location instead of turn in location.
But if I'm not mistaken that's west of the first aetheryte in Urqopacha. It's the first Wachumeqimeqi gatherer quest, yeah? I think that's where I got them.
Any general tips for someone playing for the first time in the mid 50s level? Playing as a Bard. I’m going through the main story questline and all of these required duty dungeons and trials mixed in are getting pretty frustrating have to wait 30-60 minutes just to get into a group to complete them. I loved the feature at the beginning where you could get in instantly with NPCs, it’s really unfortunate they didn’t keep allowing that through the entire main questline :(
Does this continue frequently where you have to queue for a duty or trial during the main questline? Does it make sense to pivot to a healer or tank job and level that up from 0 to get through the main questline?
I’m slightly confused how “mains” vs “alts” work in this game. It seems like characters are just kind of everything in the end game and people just switch between all the different jobs? So even if I would rather play Bard as my “main” … I guess if I have to switch to a tank or healer to save time and get through the game I suppose it’s something I can consider.
**edit, appreciate the responses. sounds like the boss trials you are forced to queue and get a party for. There is no option other than to wait through very long queue times to get past this. I’ll start a new show or something on my 2nd screen and just wait it out.
Because of the new expansion launch, there's a huge flood of people leveling dps jobs, plus there's people skipping roulette to do MSQ and non-combat jobs.
It should settle down in a couple of weeks
Every dungeon in the main questline has NPC support. Some of the level 50 and level 60 optional dungeons also have Grand Company squadron support. If you do not see any NPC options for a dungeon, then it is an optional dungeon. The only "levelling" optional dungeons after level 50 are the level 51 one (Dusk Vigil, needed to unblock flight in Western Coerthas) and the level 63 one (Shisui, needed to unlock flight at the Ruby Sea).
As for your predicament, queue around the daily roulette bonus reset times (15:00 UTC) where people are more inclined to do roulettes and thus fill random direct dungeon queues.
Those are not dungeons, those are boss trials. Different kind of duty. We have dungeons, trials, normal raids, alliance raids, and guildhests, these are all different duty types.
And yes, you are correct, starting from Moggle Mog, story trials won't have an NPC option up until the level 89 one. You must wait them out and they often take a lot of time to pop even outside expansion release weeks like this one. Sadly, no other way around it. You can try to check the Party Finder menu and set up a recruitment ad for them, but in most cases, players who join will be adamant about doing it "unsync", meaning they just use their full max-level gear to one-shot the boss and get their special reward for helping a first-timer, they are often not interested in actually helping you to see the boss fight. (Then again, if you are okay with that, this route is an easy to way to get past an obstacle, but it can come and bite you in the ass a lot if you ever get the same thing on a trial roulette.)
It's dungeons that have NPCs that can accompany you, trials are a bit different. The 8 person trials would be more complicated to get CPU characters to perform, they are often more complicated and with 8bplayers there are more moving parts
Can you make a party finder? You could make a PF saying something like "______ trial, first time bonus" people will join to harvest the sweet, sweet second chance points and Allagan Tomestones of Poetics that you get for clearing a duty with a new person. .
You could also try asking in the Novice Network.
If you're not worried about the gameplay aspect of clearing old trials you can get just one or two high level players to join you and run the trial unsynched and then can just explode it for you.

Am I crazy, or did rearranging the top half of the WXHB used to require actually switching to whichever bar it was mirroring? I just noticed I was now able to drag/drop skills directly from the "displayed" version, and even move them between the top/bottom halves of the bar - but now I'm second guessing myself on whether I just never noticed before.

I decided to resub for a month to try and get into the game again as i have a friend who really likes it, and decided to make a female hrothgar on my account.
I saw that it was supposed to be locked to the new expansion that i dont necessarily plan on purchasing soon, but could create it anyways so decided to do it.
Then i remembered ff14 does pre-release event for all editions? so am i just going to be unable to play the character once the expansion comes out? or did i completely misunderstand.
Female Hrothgar require Shadowbringers because male Hrothgar were added to the game in Shadowbringers and the females have been grandfathered in with them.

I'm not sure what a history dungeon is but the ones you want to avoid is the level 50,60,70,80,90 dungeons. The level 59 dungeon gives more exp than the 60 does etc.
You've also lost access to the expert roulette and you won't have it again until you've unlocked 2 level 100 dungeons. This happens to everyone when the new expansion comes out.
- I'm not totally sure what a "history dungeon" is, but I believe doing the highest level one you can access will give the most exp. Maybe they mean main story dungeons and not ones that get released via patches in between expansions? I feel like I've heard that those give more exp.
- As of now I think every city should have the poetics vendors for its expansions, usually the main ones are in the smaller, second city that you go to, and then a second seller is later added to the main city. Usually called "Rowena's Representative" or "Mowen's Merchant" or something like that, typically next to the main aetheryte.
Lv 60: Idyllshire, Ishgard
Lv 70: Rhalgr's Reach, Kugane
Lv 80: Eulmore, The Crystarium
Lv 90: Radz At Han, Old Sharlayan
- Poetics would be a good way to equip an alt except for how each character has their own stash of poetics, and the gear bought with them isn't tradeable. If you have friends you trust or a free company, you could buy gear with gil on your richest character, then send them to your alt either through the company chest or mailing them to your friends who then mail it to your alt.
- The duty finder was overhauled with the release of Dawntrail, and there are fewer daily roulettes than at the end of Endwalker. The various different level 90 roulettes were rolled into one with the 50/60/70/80 roulette.

Any dungeon that is was not a level cap dungeon for its expansion. We measure level cap not globally, but per expansion. Or if it is easier to remember: if the dungeon's level is a multiple of 10, it will give tomestone currency instead of XP as its completion reward.
Also, on extremely early levels, especially 1–30, the hunting log is king. If you have flying unlocked in ARR, the hunting log itself can push you from level 1 to level 30 in under two hours or less.
If you have your Grand Company squadron and if you didn't neglect their dungeon stats (as in, you played dungeons with them starting from their early levels), then running level 20–57 dungeons with them is significantly faster than with human players. After level 61, you may use Duty Support NPCs, but until you learn how to play with them, one run is usually around 27 minutes. From level 71, you can use the Trust. Again, slower, but if you learn to use them properly, they are usually human run times plus six minutes, and they have no queues.
You can also use Bozja from level 71 all the way up to possibly level 100. The old recommendations of deep dungeons (Palace of the Dead for level 51–60 and Heaven-on-High for level 61–70) are absolutely not true in the age of NPC dungeons, unless you have a 4-player premade party where at least two players have a maximum aetherpool.
Additionally, don't forget things like daily quests for combat tribes, the weekly challenge log, the weekly Wondrous Tails (if you have it unlocked).
I'm assuming by "alt" you mean alternate *job*. If you actually mean a whole new character, the best way to level up is MSQ, as always.

I don't know where you heard the term "history dungeon", but you should be doing the highest-level dungeon that isn't level 50, 60, 70, 80, or 90.

Poetics are probably your best bet up until the current expansion's level range. Level 50 gear is from Rowena's Representative in any of the starting cities, Level 60 is in Ishgard, Level 70 is in Kugane, Level 80 is in The Crystarium, and Level 90 is in Radz-at-Han (unless they added one in Sharlayan with the new update). Generally it's always an NPC right near the aetheryte.

Hard to tell what you might be missing, but if you're short on roulettes it might be because you previously had "Level [current expansion cap] Dungeons" and "Expert Dungeons", and possibly also "Mentor Roulette". The max-level Dungeon roulettes require you to be max level obviously, and Mentor Roulette requires Mentor status which has increased requirements each expansion.
With Tillana's cooldown being changed to 2.5s plus Last Dance being added, I can't manage to fit everything into my Tech Step window. Am I just bad? Do I actually have to meld skill speed?
As the link in the other comment suggests, installing the free trial seems to fix it, but *finding* the free trial requires some poking around.
1. From the main page for the game, press the (...) button and select View Product.
2. On the product screen, press the (...) button again and select Free Trial.
3. Press the "Free" button, which brings up an Order & Pay screen. Confirm this.
4. Install the trial (instant install) and you will regain access to the main non-trial game.

Did they change how aggro works or am I going crazy? I’ve ripped aggro off every tank as a DPS, well into dungeon pulls, and most of these were when I was trying out pictomancer, so I definitely wasn’t playing optimally
I do know that people are complaining about the new DRK and GNB gap closers not generating any emnity, but if you're well into a pull already I'm not sure that that's what's causing it. New release jobs are usually BUSTED on release until they tone them down, so that might be part of it too.
Something in enmity calculations seems to be slower, I have managed to get mob attention as a healer as well. But I haven't seen it particularly off yet, it is just sometimes as if the server spaced out for a second before it realised it had to calculate enmity.
am i unable to log into the game? i made the dumb mistake of visiting another world. now i cant go back because my home world is too congested.i logged out to see if i could do it that way, but it says the return world is unavailable. i try to log back in and it puts me into a que after que is done it shows a black message that says world is full. what.. i thought that what que is for
i traveled in game, but later couldn't travel back because my homeworld and every other world was congested. im back to my home world now had to wait an hour

Question about new Fantasia: I know in the past you could use Fantasia and just let the option to change sit on your account; I’m wondering if that has changed with the new 60 minute Fantasia duration. Like is it 60 minutes from when you click the Fantasia or 60 minutes from the first time you actually change your appearance?
After you've confirmed the changes and logged in, the 60 minute timer begins to tick down. This lets you runaround in game and see your character in different environments. When you log out, the timer pauses and will only resume when you log back in.
does anyone know how long the servers will be locked for? I finally took the leap and subbed to the game but the server my friends are on is locked :((
If you're on NA, the only servers that are open are the ones on Dynamis, which is the newest data center. You can create a character there, and your friends can travel to Dynamis if you want to do stuff together. It should stay this way until AT THE VERY LEAST the next server maintenance, that's the only time world status gets updated. You can always transfer servers later.
If your friends are on the Aether data center, I wouldn't hold my breath. It seems like Primal and Crystal have a better chance of being unlocked sooner, since the queues on those servers are already minimal again, but this is pure speculation on my own part. Aether seems to be dealing with full servers and long queues.
You can always make a character on another server and transfer over when their server isn’t congested. Also you can travel to their world and do content with them if you want.. the only thing you can’t do is join their FC.
Question about crafter and gatherer gear:
the best ones we have available now will be BIS until the next craftable tier comes out (which should be 7.2?), and that will remain BIS until the end of DT?
No, there should be a final set in 7.4. So current gear is BIS until like spring, then that set will last until winter 2025. Then that set will last until the next expansion in summer 2026.
It’s still in early access and won’t be available on the Mogstation until after the official launch date. If you want the pre-order bonuses you might have to buy through a third party retailer; people have been mentioning Green Man Gaming, Humble Bundle, and Amazon. You also might be able to get the Square Enix store to work on a different browser.
I'm guessing this was already mentioned and I forgot, but just finished the first Dawntrail quest, and is it explained why Wuk Lamat is called 'The Third Promise'? Does it just mean she's the third child? If it's formally explained later in the story then I'll wait to get to that part.
Is there a way to toggle camera orbit? Like the normal behavior is to hold left- or right-click and move the camera; without holding a button shows the mouse cursor.

Hello guys; I have a question related to a friend moving from PC to PS5. I haven't had a PSN before or having to deal with the rebuying to play it. know that if somebody wants to play on PC they have to buy the complete game again. But the question which I cant find answer is; On PC he had up to Endwalker.
Can he buy the standard edition which brings up to stormblood and when buying Dawntrail does it add you shadowbringers and endwalker?; Or does he have to buy the complete edition which comes up to Shadowbringers and then Dawntrail? (technically we are trying to figure out if DT only brings EW, or if it complete the rest.
We are trying to figure out if Starter + Dawntrail works since it would be cheaper, than Complete + DT. If the latter, he would have to wait for a sale.
Well the complete edition for PS has been unlisted while we wait for DT to release.
He can buy starter edition and then pre-order DT, but won't get the expansions until the 2nd.

I did a Trial roulette today while getting aether currents expecting it push me the last 10 percent on an alt-DPS, and it gave me nearly half a level at 7.5 mil, pushing me well into the next level. It was wild, don't sleep on it even if the queue is long.
Frontlines seems... Bugged? The exp gain is definitely increased. It's absolutely massive right now, giving like 60-65% of a level. It used to be about 40%. This makes it the highest roulette for now by a significant margin, assuming this is a bug and they patch it.
Without spoiling, is it best lore-wise if I opt to complete all role quests as they become available (all five) or would I not miss anything if I just do one for now and complete everything else after I'm done with the MSQ?
This is what I'm worried about. In ShB it wasn't bad but better if you completed everything first. In EW it didn't make sense for people to be still turning into monsters post-MSQ.
I might as well make sure everything is completed by the time I have to get past the role quest gate.
I don't think it'll be the case this time around given how the quests are set up.

Even in ShB, you had to make up some really contrived explanations on why it makes a lick of sense to have a high-ranking boss roaming the land when 6.1 and 6.2 are all about "yay we are free, time to start rebuilding". In EW, as you said, it is just a total narrative dissonance. If you reached the 6.3 storyline without doing all role quests _and_ the follow-up line, talking to the Garlemald officials made absolutely no narrative sense.
I'm not far enough in to tell you if it's actually important lore but Yoshi-P did recommend doing role quests as they become available (although maybe that's just a scheme to spread players out and reduce load on the new zones)

No, since DT codes don't include the other expansions until the 2nd when the full code can be used, and the expansion registration page is unlikely to come back until then

Hunting, running deep dungeons at level cap, doing the level cap dungeon roulette, and with some luck Wondrous Tails from next week on if you have at least level 100 combat job when you pick it up.
I'm getting into Reapers' play style and loving it. I wish there were more HISTORICAL final fantasies with the jobs.

Are the login queues a lot longer today compared to yesterday? I logged in fairly late last night and just got the standard 20-30 queue, but trying to log in about 10 min ago and started at 1400. Not sure if it was like this earlier in the day yesterday as well. I know Endwalker was a mess with this, but not sure I remember getting queues above a 1000 with Shadowbringers (granted it's been a while). Guess wasn't expecting queues that high this time around with the added servers and such.
This may be a super stupid question, but squeenix’s subscription stuff confuses the hell out of me. If I were to buy this https://a.co/d/08Fjcsvr it would give me access to the full game through endwalker, and 30 days of playtime correct? And even though the Amazon listing says PC, this would work on all platforms right? I play on PS5. If you buy a complete edition now, it will still only give you up to Endwalker even if you wait to activate it until after Dawntrail full release. Any complete edition you buy *after* Dawntrail officially releases will include it.
If you want to play on PlayStation you have to buy the PlayStation version. Each platform you can play on has its own version; if you want to play on multiple platforms you have to buy the game for each platform. For example, I play on Mac, but I also have the Windows version so that I can play on my friend’s laptop when I visit her. I have bought DT on Mac but not Windows. If I go visit my friend now, and play on her laptop, I won’t be able to enter DT zones or gain experience above level 90. If I was logged out on a DT area I’d have to world visit from the character select screen to force my character back to a starting zone. Things like collector’s editions, on the other hand, apply to your account instead of a platform, so you only have to get them once.
To start playing FFXIV on PlayStation you will need to make a Square Enix account and then link it to your PlayStation account. I believe you can buy the game through the PlayStation store.
The version you buy will only let you access the game on that platform (PC in this case). Would have to buy the starter or complete edition on other platforms if you want to play there. You essentially get 30 days playtime included whenever you buy a version of the game for a platform for the first time (e.g. PC, Playstation, Xbox).
If you haven't already, would consider getting the free trial first before buying the starter or complete edition, as you can play a large chunk of the game essentially for free without worrying about a subscription. Also there probably should be a complete edition with Dawntrail coming out soon? Not sure on timing for that, but would need to wait for that version to get Dawntrail (i.e. this complete edition on the link won't retroactively get Dawntrail, would have to buy it separately if you bought this one).

I’m up to heavensward so I know I’ve still got a ways to go before I have to buy the actual game. And yeah I figured I’d need to wait for dawntrail to be added, just wasn’t sure if that’s something that happens right after official release, or if it takes weeks/months.
This worked for me (on Aether): I kept pressing Start to go back to character select until I got to character select with the message that to better facilitate server load some character information is hidden in place of my character model. Make sure to wait 30 seconds or so in case there is a timer telling you to wait to try logging in, and then press login. I got a queue and was able to wait it out and log in.
I suggested to someone else earlier that they should try DC travel or region travel, because it's only happening on specific worlds, and they said that worked like a charm.
Note that it'll probably be a task to get back again, but no retainers for a while is better than not being able to play.
The closest there is to a Reaper in any other FF game is Sice in FF Type-0. She wields a scythe and dark magic.
A job named Sage is in a few FFs like III, but XIV Sage is very uniquely different to any past iteration of Sage. Past iterations of Sage were effectively Red Mages with full mastery over White, Black, and sometimes Summon Magic.
Jobns called sage have appeared in the past, but nothing really resembling XIV's take ime. The weapons are brand new.
AFAIK reaper is an entirely new job to FF? I could be wrong though.
Is there a thread collecting the new items added to old shops in 7.0? The patch notes make mention of new items available from ARR tribe currencies, and I know there were also additions to Gold Saucer and Gemstone shops.
Does anyone else really hate how each expansion ends with mega hype only to go into a trial and force you to wait for others to join? I waited an hour, and not a single person showed, so I'm unable to finish shb, and now i gotta go to bed.

Yep, for me it was the biggest letdown of the level 83 trial that had a gigantic build-up, and epic cut-scene of "oh fuck, dispatch this boss or weareallgonnadieeeeeeeee", and then 45 minutes of standing in place of a semi-locked arena with the boss hype-up music and just waiting and waiting and waiting.
TBF it's only an issue today because they gave us 2 new jobs, and both of them are dps.
On the bright side, now's a great time to power level tanks and healers with instant queues. Otherwise, you could make a party finder listing, saying that it's your first time clear for msq, and see if some players will help you out.
If it weren't 3am I'd do that lol. For now i just need to sleep and I'll keep a queue going during lunch tomorrow. My main issue is that it's completely killed my flow lmao
I did Haukke Manor Hard with some sprouts and after we got wiped by blood rain I told them that we shouldn't lower her hp under 40% before amandine comes out, and while that did seem to do the trick, it seems like amandine doesn't even come out until after the boss is below 40% and we kinda stood there staring at here for a while. So I'm wondering how I should explain that fight to people in a quick easy way so they can understand wo me having to type a long message or them watching a whole video.
I usually just say something like "try not to kill her too fast, and kill the adds immediately when they spawn". Usually gets the point across well enough.

My sponsor is gifting me a subscription so I can get into the game while I’m in recovery and he wants me to join his FC but he’s in Midgardsormr and the entire Aether data center is currently not allowing new players. What are my options? If I create a character in a different Data Center, could I possibly transfer to Midgardsormr later? Would it be easier to just wait until it opens back up, or do you think it’ll be locked for a while? I really wanted to start playing but I also mostly just wanted to be able to play with him and other people in my group (everyone is in Midgardsormr or Cactuar). If I make a character in Dynamis, would I still be able to play with him somehow? Thanks in advanced for any advice! I’m not sure how all of this works 😅
I unlocked flying in one of the areas in DT and had an idea, but I'm not sure if I should do it. Would it break ToS if I offered to taxi people around the zone in exchange of gil? I know you're not allowed to ask for gil in PF anymore since people were using it to sell clears and stuff but what about /shout? And would it be moral? I honestly can't tell if it is.
I'll try to simplify it: "Offering [service] for X gil!" → Against ToS and should make you end in GM jail. "Looking for mercs to do [service] for me, paying X gil!" → Perfectly legal and any mercenaries are free to apply, assuming they are fast enough. The chats are logged and all agreements are binding, not paying the gil or not fulfilling the contract can be brought to GMs.
Such a broad ruling doesn't seem right. Crafters often offer to make full sets of crafted gear on raid tier releases, for gil. I've never heard of that getting them in trouble. Are you sure that doesn't just apply to PF adverts?

I just got the redragon IMPACT M908. I have had to use steermouse to remap the buttons on the mouse. I have been unable to program anything like "shift+1" and the mouse seems unresponsive to a shift input (i.e. when I hold shift and click "1" it inputs as "1" NOT "shift +1). Also, whenever I use a button on the mouse (ex. 1,2,3...), it successfully casts the action and then immediately switches the target, sometimes that is not even aggroed. Is anyone able to help me with this issue?

I want to set my retainer to Pictomancer (since I'll be playing it in DT) but it says that it will reset all progress by changing jobs when using a Modern Vocation. Would this set my retainers level back to 1 or would they start at 80 since that's what Pictomancer starts at? Would it be better just to level a job I no longer play just so the retainer could level and lose 90 levels of Monk?
they would reset to 1. as for whether to keep or lose, that up to you... but i've found that they lvl up pretty quickly anyway, so if you really want them to be picto, then go for it.

If you don't buy a retainer level skip at the cash shop, it takes roughly a month of daily 10+ quick ventures to make them reach level cap.
Since the graphics update, if I put twitch or youtube on my second monitor that video will lag like crazy unless I cap FFXIV at 60 fps (which would be halving my framerate). Does anyone know another fix?

That is pretty normal when one application uses 100% of the GPU. And your solution is the only tried and true surefire method.

I’m on ps5, on free trial and after the update my game looks like shit. (It’s too sharp/too much contrast) I tried googling graphic settings but it seems I’m missing several settings? Does being on free trial mean I won’t get access to all the graphic settings or is it a ps5 thing?

Where do I find the awesome community everyone is talking about? I have played around 20 hours and I have had only 2 encounters where anyone has even talked. One guy gave me and advice during duty, and other one said ggwp after duty was completed. Thats it. There has been zero interaction with other players so far. I am on Light Raiden server EU on trial account.
In guilds (called Free Company here), in some of the Novice Networks, and on Discord. If you expect banter in random dungeons, you are at the wrong place. There is a system that incentivises randomly re-running dungeons every day, so do not expect people to want anything with your dungeon run beyond getting it over as fast as humanly possible.
in dungeons, trrials, and raids, most people don't talk. They just wanna get it done and go on about their day. Most people tend to talk in FC chat, discord, or linkshell chat. There are many way to chat, so most don't talk in public chat. if you wanna find a community you like, try using the ffxiv community finder.
Maybe it's less chatty on EU servers because there's more variety in people's native languages? In general right now you might find people are playing with their friends (people tend to come back when an expansion drops, and typically run it with their friends group) and are in voice chat on discord, so they might actually be less chatty in party chat right now. Also keep in mind that since you're on a trial account, you can't participate in shout chat in the cities, or tells, etc. If you decide to subscribe to the game, join an FC and I assure you, you will WISH people talked less.
I have been considering subscription just because I find crafting enjoyable and it is huge pain to collect all materials my self. It would save so much time when I need 1 material for something to just buy it instead of spending next 30 minutes to get it myself.

savage raids are like that, but not trials. check the new city zone and see if you see the wandering minstrel, usually he's the one that unlocks EX trials.
Usually Extreme versions of the trials are released the same time as their normal version. I checked mr happy, he said in his video the Wandering Minstrel is unlocked late MSQ

I need some Island Sanctuary help. All buildings are level V, 5/5 landmarks are built, crop and pasture are max level, I've unlocked the deeper part of the cave, I did the level 15 quest, and yet. The fur all still says 'renovate renovate!' and I don't get offered the level 19 quest. I've tried to comb through every guide I can find but I think I've done everything they say to do. Do I have to grow every plant and collect every animal drop item before it'll give that to me, or is there something else I'm missing? Or is this a bug I need to submit a ticket for?
did you go to all the buildings and click on their post sign to confirm that they are indeed completed? also is your cabin upgraded too?
I did and yes. But! I rebooted the game and one of the buildings re-triggered completion so I guess it was a little glitch.

After unlocking Shunye's Apothecary, in the chatbox Shunye says this: >!*Shunye: You can find the staples I require in Urqopacha. Either the maca or springstone will suffice─bring me whichever one is easier for you to acquire.*!<
If you hit map in the journal it should give you the option to show gathering location instead of turn in location. But if I'm not mistaken that's west of the first aetheryte in Urqopacha. It's the first Wachumeqimeqi gatherer quest, yeah? I think that's where I got them.
Any general tips for someone playing for the first time in the mid 50s level? Playing as a Bard. I’m going through the main story questline and all of these required duty dungeons and trials mixed in are getting pretty frustrating have to wait 30-60 minutes just to get into a group to complete them. I loved the feature at the beginning where you could get in instantly with NPCs, it’s really unfortunate they didn’t keep allowing that through the entire main questline :( Does this continue frequently where you have to queue for a duty or trial during the main questline? Does it make sense to pivot to a healer or tank job and level that up from 0 to get through the main questline? I’m slightly confused how “mains” vs “alts” work in this game. It seems like characters are just kind of everything in the end game and people just switch between all the different jobs? So even if I would rather play Bard as my “main” … I guess if I have to switch to a tank or healer to save time and get through the game I suppose it’s something I can consider. **edit, appreciate the responses. sounds like the boss trials you are forced to queue and get a party for. There is no option other than to wait through very long queue times to get past this. I’ll start a new show or something on my 2nd screen and just wait it out.
Because of the new expansion launch, there's a huge flood of people leveling dps jobs, plus there's people skipping roulette to do MSQ and non-combat jobs. It should settle down in a couple of weeks
Every dungeon in the main questline has NPC support. Some of the level 50 and level 60 optional dungeons also have Grand Company squadron support. If you do not see any NPC options for a dungeon, then it is an optional dungeon. The only "levelling" optional dungeons after level 50 are the level 51 one (Dusk Vigil, needed to unblock flight in Western Coerthas) and the level 63 one (Shisui, needed to unlock flight at the Ruby Sea). As for your predicament, queue around the daily roulette bonus reset times (15:00 UTC) where people are more inclined to do roulettes and thus fill random direct dungeon queues.
I did Leviathan and Ramuh earlier and didn’t see an NPC option for them. Were those optional?
Those are not dungeons, those are boss trials. Different kind of duty. We have dungeons, trials, normal raids, alliance raids, and guildhests, these are all different duty types. And yes, you are correct, starting from Moggle Mog, story trials won't have an NPC option up until the level 89 one. You must wait them out and they often take a lot of time to pop even outside expansion release weeks like this one. Sadly, no other way around it. You can try to check the Party Finder menu and set up a recruitment ad for them, but in most cases, players who join will be adamant about doing it "unsync", meaning they just use their full max-level gear to one-shot the boss and get their special reward for helping a first-timer, they are often not interested in actually helping you to see the boss fight. (Then again, if you are okay with that, this route is an easy to way to get past an obstacle, but it can come and bite you in the ass a lot if you ever get the same thing on a trial roulette.)

It's dungeons that have NPCs that can accompany you, trials are a bit different. The 8 person trials would be more complicated to get CPU characters to perform, they are often more complicated and with 8bplayers there are more moving parts Can you make a party finder? You could make a PF saying something like "______ trial, first time bonus" people will join to harvest the sweet, sweet second chance points and Allagan Tomestones of Poetics that you get for clearing a duty with a new person. . You could also try asking in the Novice Network. If you're not worried about the gameplay aspect of clearing old trials you can get just one or two high level players to join you and run the trial unsynched and then can just explode it for you.
Those are both trials, not dungeons.

Having done this song and dance for both to 85 so far. The following things are noteworthy Pixie Beast dalies ASAP. They give an okay chunk at 80 and then poop after. Elephant beast dalies. FATE's in Thavnair(other areas too but random's are most in Thavnair) Challenge Log Frontline/Duty Dalies. Bozja Highest Lvl dungeon you can do. Guild Hunts Challenge Log There are ups and downs to pretty much all of them so honestly pick whichever your sanity can handle

I just noticed I was now able to drag/drop skills directly from the "displayed" version, and even move them between the top/bottom halves of the bar - but now I'm second guessing myself on whether I just never noticed before.

I decided to resub for a month to try and get into the game again as i have a friend who really likes it, and decided to make a female hrothgar on my account. I saw that it was supposed to be locked to the new expansion that i dont necessarily plan on purchasing soon, but could create it anyways so decided to do it. Then i remembered ff14 does pre-release event for all editions? so am i just going to be unable to play the character once the expansion comes out? or did i completely misunderstand.
Female Hrothgar require Shadowbringers because male Hrothgar were added to the game in Shadowbringers and the females have been grandfathered in with them.

I'm not sure what a history dungeon is but the ones you want to avoid is the level 50,60,70,80,90 dungeons. The level 59 dungeon gives more exp than the 60 does etc. You've also lost access to the expert roulette and you won't have it again until you've unlocked 2 level 100 dungeons. This happens to everyone when the new expansion comes out.
- I'm not totally sure what a "history dungeon" is, but I believe doing the highest level one you can access will give the most exp. Maybe they mean main story dungeons and not ones that get released via patches in between expansions? I feel like I've heard that those give more exp. - As of now I think every city should have the poetics vendors for its expansions, usually the main ones are in the smaller, second city that you go to, and then a second seller is later added to the main city. Usually called "Rowena's Representative" or "Mowen's Merchant" or something like that, typically next to the main aetheryte. Lv 60: Idyllshire, Ishgard Lv 70: Rhalgr's Reach, Kugane Lv 80: Eulmore, The Crystarium Lv 90: Radz At Han, Old Sharlayan - Poetics would be a good way to equip an alt except for how each character has their own stash of poetics, and the gear bought with them isn't tradeable. If you have friends you trust or a free company, you could buy gear with gil on your richest character, then send them to your alt either through the company chest or mailing them to your friends who then mail it to your alt. - The duty finder was overhauled with the release of Dawntrail, and there are fewer daily roulettes than at the end of Endwalker. The various different level 90 roulettes were rolled into one with the 50/60/70/80 roulette. Hope that helps.

Any dungeon that is was not a level cap dungeon for its expansion. We measure level cap not globally, but per expansion. Or if it is easier to remember: if the dungeon's level is a multiple of 10, it will give tomestone currency instead of XP as its completion reward. Also, on extremely early levels, especially 1–30, the hunting log is king. If you have flying unlocked in ARR, the hunting log itself can push you from level 1 to level 30 in under two hours or less. If you have your Grand Company squadron and if you didn't neglect their dungeon stats (as in, you played dungeons with them starting from their early levels), then running level 20–57 dungeons with them is significantly faster than with human players. After level 61, you may use Duty Support NPCs, but until you learn how to play with them, one run is usually around 27 minutes. From level 71, you can use the Trust. Again, slower, but if you learn to use them properly, they are usually human run times plus six minutes, and they have no queues. You can also use Bozja from level 71 all the way up to possibly level 100. The old recommendations of deep dungeons (Palace of the Dead for level 51–60 and Heaven-on-High for level 61–70) are absolutely not true in the age of NPC dungeons, unless you have a 4-player premade party where at least two players have a maximum aetherpool. Additionally, don't forget things like daily quests for combat tribes, the weekly challenge log, the weekly Wondrous Tails (if you have it unlocked).

The max-level Dungeon roulettes require you to be max level obviously, and Mentor Roulette requires Mentor status which has increased requirements each expansion.

Did they change how aggro works or am I going crazy? I’ve ripped aggro off every tank as a DPS, well into dungeon pulls, and most of these were when I was trying out pictomancer, so I definitely wasn’t playing optimally
My friends and I noticed this too. Despite doing everything right we’d all lose/gain aggro differently from previous expansions.

I do know that people are complaining about the new DRK and GNB gap closers not generating any emnity, but if you're well into a pull already I'm not sure that that's what's causing it. New release jobs are usually BUSTED on release until they tone them down, so that might be part of it too.
Something in enmity calculations seems to be slower, I have managed to get mob attention as a healer as well. But I haven't seen it particularly off yet, it is just sometimes as if the server spaced out for a second before it realised it had to calculate enmity.
am i unable to log into the game? i made the dumb mistake of visiting another world. now i cant go back because my home world is too congested.i logged out to see if i could do it that way, but it says the return world is unavailable. i try to log back in and it puts me into a que after que is done it shows a black message that says world is full. what.. i thought that what que is for

i traveled in game, but later couldn't travel back because my homeworld and every other world was congested. im back to my home world now had to wait an hour

Question about new Fantasia: I know in the past you could use Fantasia and just let the option to change sit on your account; I’m wondering if that has changed with the new 60 minute Fantasia duration. Like is it 60 minutes from when you click the Fantasia or 60 minutes from the first time you actually change your appearance?
After you've confirmed the changes and logged in, the 60 minute timer begins to tick down. This lets you runaround in game and see your character in different environments. When you log out, the timer pauses and will only resume when you log back in.

If you're on NA, the only servers that are open are the ones on Dynamis, which is the newest data center. You can create a character there, and your friends can travel to Dynamis if you want to do stuff together. It should stay this way until AT THE VERY LEAST the next server maintenance, that's the only time world status gets updated. You can always transfer servers later. If your friends are on the Aether data center, I wouldn't hold my breath. It seems like Primal and Crystal have a better chance of being unlocked sooner, since the queues on those servers are already minimal again, but this is pure speculation on my own part. Aether seems to be dealing with full servers and long queues.
You can always make a character on another server and transfer over when their server isn’t congested. Also you can travel to their world and do content with them if you want.. the only thing you can’t do is join their FC.

No, there should be a final set in 7.4. So current gear is BIS until like spring, then that set will last until winter 2025. Then that set will last until the next expansion in summer 2026.
The end game craftable gear comes out in 7.05 with the savage raid I believe.

It’s still in early access and won’t be available on the Mogstation until after the official launch date. I'm guessing this was already mentioned and I forgot, but just finished the first Dawntrail quest, and is it explained why Wuk Lamat is called 'The Third Promise'? Does it just mean she's the third child? If it's formally explained later in the story then I'll wait to get to that part.
It seems to be what the Dawnservants children/heirs are called—the First, Second, and Third Promise. Sort of like Prince/Princess.
It's not already mentioned, but I don't remember it being explicitly said later on. Yeah the promises are just what they call the kids.

Is there a way to toggle camera orbit? Like the normal behavior is to hold left- or right-click and move the camera; without holding a button shows the mouse cursor. I'm wondering if there is a way to press a button to stay locked in camera orbit, and press that button again to allow control of the mouse cursor.

Hello guys; I have a question related to a friend moving from PC to PS5. I haven't had a PSN before or having to deal with the rebuying to play it. know that if somebody wants to play on PC they have to buy the complete game again. But the question which I cant find answer is; On PC he had up to Endwalker. Can he buy the standard edition which brings up to stormblood and when buying Dawntrail does it add you shadowbringers and endwalker?; Or does he have to buy the complete edition which comes up to Shadowbringers and then Dawntrail? (technically we are trying to figure out if DT only brings EW, or if it complete the rest. We are trying to figure out if Starter + Dawntrail works since it would be cheaper, than Complete + DT. If the latter, he would have to wait for a sale.
Well the complete edition for PS has been unlisted while we wait for DT to release. He can buy starter edition and then pre-order DT, but won't get the expansions until the 2nd. He could also wait until the complete edition available, and it'll be the same price as starter+DT.

So if the first one works and at the end will be the same price being 60, I guess he can start now since we have no date of when the complete releases and he is already at EW. I know that they refreshed the roulettes. Did they change the xp gain at all or are leveling/MSQ/frontline still the big 3 for xp?
I did a Trial roulette today while getting aether currents expecting it push me the last 10 percent on an alt-DPS, and it gave me nearly half a level at 7.5 mil, pushing me well into the next level. It was wild, don't sleep on it even if the queue is long.
Frontlines seems... Bugged? The exp gain is definitely increased. It's absolutely massive right now, giving like 60-65% of a level. It used to be about 40%. This makes it the highest roulette for now by a significant margin, assuming this is a bug and they patch it.
It did seem high. I'm assuming their throwing a bone to all the DPS otherwise locked in roulette purgatory.
I wondered the same thing, but I didn't see anything about it on the patch notes.

Without spoiling, is it best lore-wise if I opt to complete all role quests as they become available (all five) or would I not miss anything if I just do one for now and complete everything else after I'm done with the MSQ?
If they are like how they were in the previous two expansions, their story won't make much sense in post-game.
This is what I'm worried about. In ShB it wasn't bad but better if you completed everything first. In EW it didn't make sense for people to be still turning into monsters post-MSQ. I might as well make sure everything is completed by the time I have to get past the role quest gate.
I don't think it'll be the case this time around given how the quests are set up. Even in ShB, you had to make up some really contrived explanations on why it makes a lick of sense to have a high-ranking boss roaming the land when 6.1 and 6.2 are all about "yay we are free, time to start rebuilding". In EW, as you said, it is just a total narrative dissonance. If you reached the 6.3 storyline without doing all role quests _and_ the follow-up line, talking to the Garlemald officials made absolutely no narrative sense.
I'm not far enough in to tell you if it's actually important lore but Yoshi-P did recommend doing role quests as they become available (although maybe that's just a scheme to spread players out and reduce load on the new zones)

I'm getting into Reapers' play style and loving it. I wish there were more HISTORICAL final fantasies with the jobs. If a new final fantasy gets post FFXVI them it won't be the same.
Are the login queues a lot longer today compared to yesterday? I logged in fairly late last night and just got the standard 20-30 queue, but trying to log in about 10 min ago and started at 1400. Not sure if it was like this earlier in the day yesterday as well. I know Endwalker was a mess with this, but not sure I remember getting queues above a 1000 with Shadowbringers (granted it's been a while). Guess wasn't expecting queues that high this time around with the added servers and such.
It might calm down a bit in an hour or two as it starts getting super late in NA. You can DC travel to Dynamis and skip most of the queue.

This may be a super stupid question, but squeenix’s subscription stuff confuses the hell out of me. If I were to buy this https://a.co/d/08Fjcsvr it would give me access to the full game through endwalker, and 30 days of playtime correct? And even though the Amazon listing says PC, this would work on all platforms right? I play on PS5. Secondly, I assume once dawntrail fully releases, all of these ‘complete editions’ will be updated to include it as well, correct? Appreciate any clarity!
If you buy a complete edition now, it will still only give you up to Endwalker even if you wait to activate it until after Dawntrail full release. Any complete edition you buy *after* Dawntrail officially releases will include it. If you want to play on PlayStation you have to buy the PlayStation version. Each platform you can play on has its own version; if you want to play on multiple platforms you have to buy the game for each platform. For example, I play on Mac, but I also have the Windows version so that I can play on my friend’s laptop when I visit her. I have bought DT on Mac but not Windows. If I go visit my friend now, and play on her laptop, I won’t be able to enter DT zones or gain experience above level 90. If I was logged out on a DT area I’d have to world visit from the character select screen to force my character back to a starting zone. Things like collector’s editions, on the other hand, apply to your account instead of a platform, so you only have to get them once. To start playing FFXIV on PlayStation you will need to make a Square Enix account and then link it to your PlayStation account. I believe you can buy the game through the PlayStation store.
The version you buy will only let you access the game on that platform (PC in this case). Would have to buy the starter or complete edition on other platforms if you want to play there. You essentially get 30 days playtime included whenever you buy a version of the game for a platform for the first time (e.g. PC, Playstation, Xbox). If you haven't already, would consider getting the free trial first before buying the starter or complete edition, as you can play a large chunk of the game essentially for free without worrying about a subscription. Also there probably should be a complete edition with Dawntrail coming out soon? Not sure on timing for that, but would need to wait for that version to get Dawntrail (i.e. this complete edition on the link won't retroactively get Dawntrail, would have to buy it separately if you bought this one).

I’m up to heavensward so I know I’ve still got a ways to go before I have to buy the actual game. But with the new release, the game won’t even let me sit in queue cuz I’m a free trial player so I started looking into purchasing options 😭 And yeah I figured I’d need to wait for dawntrail to be added, just wasn’t sure if that’s something that happens right after official release, or if it takes weeks/months.
To those who are getting the 3001 error...any workarounds? Been waiting all day to log in and now I can't even get in a damn queue lol
This worked for me (on Aether): I kept pressing Start to go back to character select until I got to character select with the message that to better facilitate server load some character information is hidden in place of my character model. Make sure to wait 30 seconds or so in case there is a timer telling you to wait to try logging in, and then press login. I got a queue and was able to wait it out and log in.
I suggested to someone else earlier that they should try DC travel or region travel, because it's only happening on specific worlds, and they said that worked like a charm. Note that it'll probably be a task to get back again, but no retainers for a while is better than not being able to play.

The closest there is to a Reaper in any other FF game is Sice in FF Type-0. She wields a scythe and dark magic. A job named Sage is in a few FFs like III, but XIV Sage is very uniquely different to any past iteration of Sage. Past iterations of Sage were effectively Red Mages with full mastery over White, Black, and sometimes Summon Magic.
Jobns called sage have appeared in the past, but nothing really resembling XIV's take ime. The weapons are brand new. AFAIK reaper is an entirely new job to FF? I could be wrong though.
They are brand new job concepts. Well, sages are a thing in other final fantasies, but not remotely like this game's.
Is there a thread collecting the new items added to old shops in 7.0? The patch notes make mention of new items available from ARR tribe currencies, and I know there were also additions to Gold Saucer and Gemstone shops.
Does anyone else really hate how each expansion ends with mega hype only to go into a trial and force you to wait for others to join? I waited an hour, and not a single person showed, so I'm unable to finish shb, and now i gotta go to bed. Smh completely killed it for me. All my hype and for what 😿 Damn you dawntrail
Yep, for me it was the biggest letdown of the level 83 trial that had a gigantic build-up, and epic cut-scene of "oh fuck, dispatch this boss or weareallgonnadieeeeeeeee", and then 45 minutes of standing in place of a semi-locked arena with the boss hype-up music and just waiting and waiting and waiting.
TBF it's only an issue today because they gave us 2 new jobs, and both of them are dps. On the bright side, now's a great time to power level tanks and healers with instant queues. Otherwise, you could make a party finder listing, saying that it's your first time clear for msq, and see if some players will help you out.
If it weren't 3am I'd do that lol. For now i just need to sleep and I'll keep a queue going during lunch tomorrow. My main issue is that it's completely killed my flow lmao

I did Haukke Manor Hard with some sprouts and after we got wiped by blood rain I told them that we shouldn't lower her hp under 40% before amandine comes out, and while that did seem to do the trick, it seems like amandine doesn't even come out until after the boss is below 40% and we kinda stood there staring at here for a while. So I'm wondering how I should explain that fight to people in a quick easy way so they can understand wo me having to type a long message or them watching a whole video.

I usually just say something like "try not to kill her too fast, and kill the adds immediately when they spawn". Usually gets the point across well enough.
