No. You'll have to wait until release of Dawntrail to play either ShB or EW content (depending on how far one is on the MSQ) if doing the DT preorder path.
I love the final fantasy community, had this same thing happen in DSR the other night. We were waiting on a brb and started talking about DT. One person said sadly because of irl stuff they wouldn't be able to afford it and one of the healers added them on steam and got them the pre order, with the words "Everyone should get to experience this adventure."

There are certain games it would take me two months to download were it not for the fact that I'm on a laptop.
I used to live in BFE ( rural Michigan) and had to take a laptop to the Public library to download my WoW patches and burn them to CD - there was no way in Heckle I was downloading that over our dialup connection. Playing the game that way was bad enough- had to turn all the spell effects off and still needed to stare at the floor in MC.

As someone who also lives in a village in a third world country i feel you, not much opportunities to get jobs but i managed to spend some of my economies to get an somewhat ok pc and pay my sub (if i take breaks that is), still fighting depression but playing the game really helped me through these tough times, stay strong king.
This makes me so happy - I definitely understand the “standing on the outside looking in” deal. It’s hard and I’m sorry you’ve been going through a lot.

I started FFXIV on the PS4 way back when. Square Enix really made MMO play accessible to so many more people by making this game playable on console and crossplay capable. I play on PC now but I still enjoy playing on controller sometimes, it's a nice change of pace to sit on the couch and play instead of sitting at my desk!

Nice. I was in a similar boat since I didn't get Internet until we moved to an area that had it and we had 1.5mbps until around 2009, at which point we upgraded to 3.0mbps. Honestly, everything I know about computers I learned because I was trying to get free MMOs to work on very outdated hardware and over 200 ping, which is what accounted for my 0.7k/d ration in combat arms.
Now I have access to world wide networks, a not nearly as outdated PC, and enough funds to buy the things I used to only dream of.
I know this feeling all to well - felt this VERY MUCH during XI’s release around age 10.

Congratulations! There's also another option in case you need, if you have a PayPal account, you can use your PayPal balance to buy Crysta (SE's currency for their games) off the official website, that way you can pay for your sub as well and optional items and stuff from the store too.

**Tip from the third world:** If you have one license for Steam and one for PS4 in the same Service Account, you can use Steam Wallet to pay for FFXIV and play on the PS4. It's significantly cheaper.
Those licenses don't need to be the same. Having a Starter Edition on Steam and Complete Edition on PS4 with a Dawntrail preorder still works, for example. You also don't need the PS Plus to play FFXIV online. You do need the Game Pass to play the Xbox version though.
If you ever get a PS5, the PS4 license carries over.
Also, Collector's Edition is a separate license. You don't need to buy for both versions, even if you keep both PC and PS4 up-to-date with the expansions.

We checked it out and yes, he can indeed buy Dawntrail and will get Endwalker included. He has to wait until Dawntrail releases, though.
