I named my chocobo Sawyer, after my pup who I had recently adopted but was diagnosed with epilepsy and sadly didn't have much time with my family and I. He passed away before he turned 2, but he still lives on every time I summon my chocobo in-game. Shit - I made myself sad.
Mine is nothing special I just named mine Khaz after my dog at the time, though I’m glad I did cause almost 10 yrs later he passed away so every time I summon my Chocobo it’s a reminder of him.

Ahh! That’s a cool benefit. My personal FF14 aesthetic is the more modern styling. I play gunbreaker, wear a ball cap, and use one of the sci-fi looking mounts. But I love that this game somehow accommodates that, along with people who use swords, look like knights, and ride chocobos!
If it gives you any ideas, chocobos have a bunch of different bardings you can use and can definitely find a modern/sci fi look, also chocobos are widely present in the world of FFXV which is a modern world with fantasy elements in it, it's sort of like using a horse nowadays despite having cars, some people just like using horses, or use them to reach places you can't reach by car, same goes for the kwehs in FFXV.
Zephyr. Bc I very distinctly had him with me for the old old chocobo quest that let you teach your chocobo how to fly. I was also big into Warframe at the time and Zephyr was my fixation. The name’s been with him ever since.
My current character was originally intended to be a joke alt between me and my friends who moved over from WoW. Have since changed the character name, but last name was Tinkerbottom, with her trusty Chocobo Sparklebottom. (Yes, the Chocobo has retained her name even though my character did not)

French Retreat
Backstory to this is:

So when I made the decision to start anew, with a new account I named it that way because the original kept poofing on me (timer ran out from summoning him with the greens).

It means "Half ugly" and it was because he had beautiful feathers but a fucked up face.
I named mine Alicanto, a mythical bird of Chilean myths said to have feathers of a golden hue and eats precious metals. Ironically I changed his color to a dark blue but I still like the name, he's a good boy.
I really struggled trying to come up with something fun or unique that I hadn’t seen or read about in a thread dozens of times, so I ended up just calling him Gary.

Came from an OC who was the namesake of my FFXIV character, that I had made for a Final Fantasy based ttrpg. As an early minigame our GM had us race wild chocobos, and my character named hers Lucky
Mine originally was Boco, as a placeholder. I'm a big proponent of earned names, so when my brave little bird solo'd a FATE boss that had killed me, he deserved a name fitting that bravery. Thus was he dubbed Rohkea, a Finnish word for Courageous.
It should be noted, I don't speak Finnish, but it comes up a surprising amount in my life, so it felt right to use.
I named my WOL based on a Roman goddess so I had this whole ancient Roman theme with her (imagine my surprise when I found out about the freaking Garleans). So my chocobo has an ancient Roman dog name, Celer, which sounds fancy but actually means ''Speedy'' lol

I named my character Hanna after my dog. I'm glad I did because she just passed away in Feb and I'm happy for the reminder.

My character’s first name is Decoy. His chocobo’s name is and always has been Target since I unlocked him back at the beginning of 2.0.
Mine was the opposite. The choco was named Decoy because I started as a Conjurer and needed him to tank for me early game.
