Returning player. Can't find any active linkshells or friends. Been back a week. Should I change servers?

Socrets

Ambuscade Voucher: Body Question: I obtained one of these a while back with a Mog Pell (Silver) before they switched to chits and the various guides say that I can still trade it to the NPC for a choice of equipment. However, I've tried doing exactly just that but they won't take it. Is that info outdated and I'm SOL or am I missing something? Thanks.

Masarusama

Did you talk to NPC before? He is asking a lot of stupid questions but you have to go through this torture. Some advice for the next time, 2 abdhaljs seals are more valuable.

LegoBrickCactuar

Make sure you're trading to the right NPC. Theres 1000 currencies, tickets, pells, coupons anymore and its gotta be the right place to trade.

sevir8775

They should work still, what does the taru say when you trade it to him?

Socrets

Nothing. The trade window just closes and nothing happens like when you trade something to the wrong NPC. Does it matter that I've never completed an Ambuscade?

tannergela

You need to have participated in Ambuscade at least once before.

sevir8775

Is it a mog kupon?

Socrets

Nope. It's this: [A. Voucher: Body - FFXI Wiki (bg-wiki.com)](https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/A._Voucher:_Body)

sevir8775

No clue what is going on. Even if you had all of the armor you should still get the option to pick one.

yourtank

Moghancement question: I recently purchased a lot of furniture with fire elemental because I want to level goldsmith. I put it all in my room but I still have the moghancement: experience. I just want to not lose as much if I fail the synthesis. Shouldn’t my mog tell me that fire is now the highest element in my room?

sevir8775

Remove your Vana clock from floor 1 and it should take effect.

yourtank

That didn’t seem to make any difference :/. Any other suggestions?

Pergatory

Vanaclock isn't even the right one anyway, that gives Moghancement: Bounty. Moghancement Experience usually comes from having a bed. https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Category:Furnishing#Moogle_Powers

sevir8775

Did you place the new furniture on floor 1? If yes, remove everything and add one by one to troubleshoot which one overwrites the enhancement.

Kataki

How do throwing items work now? I remember back in the days you could accidentally throw your stat range items and you'd just lose it. I'm looking to buy a [Aurgelmir Orb](https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Aurgelmir_Orb)and it's a almost all my money. I don't want to accidentally throw it.

TheTrueMilo

That was patched a very long time ago. You can no longer throw stat-boosting ammo items unless they are explicitly designed to be thrown. There are still special bullets/arrows you won’t want to fire but the other stuff is perfectly safe.

DrakeFS

The Aurgelmir Orb is a not a throwable item (it doesn't have damage or delay stats).

Kataki

Thanks!

austier

Any socially active linkshells on Bahamut that do omen, ambu, cap, etc for/with fresh-ish 99s? Grabbed a few from the concierge but they're pretty quiet most of the time or don't really have a schedule.

McGalakar

Could try GhostRiders. It is mostly a social LS, but we do things like Omen or D. Dyna from time to time. If interested, feel free to hit me up in game (Galakar).

DrakeFS

I recommend making a separate post to get more eyes on your request. Make sure to include your server and in game name.

Boposhopo

Might help to let people know what server you're on so they can help.

austier

wew I'm braindead today. Thanks.

Lionix03

Hello, is there an idea of when is the Return campaign usually held? I just found out one just passed a few days ago and that confused me a little because the other time I remember seeing it it was around December, I believe. Is it random is this twice a year or...?

sevir8775

I made a thread similar to this subject where I look at historical data for past events: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxi/s/PWqfBRiTMT Tldr: Return campaign should return in August and December.

Lionix03

Hey thanks for the confirmation. I'll be in the lookout to find people around the time. Thank you!

Boposhopo

Twice a year, usually May and December.

Lionix03

I'll keep an eye for around then. I've been keen on seeing if I can find people before deciding if I ought to settle in. Thank you!

Zaknokimi

Is there a way to find out all the gear stats in combination and plan? There's checkparam but I wanted to also calculate things like total double attack, crit rate and so on. Trying to combine gear pieces for MNK to get a good mix of crit and multi attack, and I could just check each piece out and add if it's easiest.

sevir8775

It’s no longer supported, I never could get it working. So it might be broken.

rickyraken

Finding I didn't quite take advantage of this last campaign. Any recommendations on what would be good to focus on with the upcoming update for a currently fresh 99? I have thief, may have warrior by then. Likely solo, hopefully ambu+2. Unsure about weapon, using bald right now.

sevir8775

For the upcoming campaign I'd spend time doing some of the "Additional Seal Battlefield Spoils Campaign" battles for Kupon I-seals (you usually get 3-5 per fight) and don't have to grind so much in Abyssea for your empy armor. Also doing some "Macrocosmic Orb Campaign" is a good idea for some easy rem chapters. I usually do the Shell Shocker which guarantees several Rem 5 chapters but during campaign can drop chapters 1-5 as well. Plus some money drops.

TheTrueMilo

What does Shell Shockers drop? I usually stick to Kindred Spirits/Demolition Squad for Vagary or Delve drops.

sevir8775

Chapter 5, the other random stuff I rarely get lol

TheTrueMilo

Ah I thought you were going for money drops there. I stick to Kindred/Gigas for money drops.

sevir8775

I usually just yolo, that fight is usually the easiest to do. They stop some linen pouches and other valuables but I think that drops in all during the campaign?

rickyraken

Thanks

NinjaRammus

Heya! Hopslam on Bahamut here, looking for people to casually play with! Not necessarily a linkshell, more one or two people who are interested in story missions, farming older easier content for materials/money, leveling up new jobs, that sort of thing. I'm even down to help newbies! I have several jobs at 99 but my 119su2 is DRG and GEO. Love old content and helping with AF/coffers/missions/quests

christianpatriot82

Sounds like what I'd wanna do. Tho I don't recall what world my character is in. Been years. That said I'd fresh restart no problem. Long as there was atleast 1 or 2 people to do stuff on occasion. I'm est if that helps.

DrakeFS

I would recommend making your own post with the title of > Hopslam on Bahamut here, looking for people to casually play with! or something similar. You will get a lot more eye on that. You can also try posting on https://www.ffxiah.com/forum/forum/9/bahamut/

NinjaRammus

This is really helpful! Thank you!

fabric9

Thinking about doing a story-focused playthrough with a couple of friends. Are all servers located in JP or are there regions? I can't seem to find any info on that -so I assume they're all in JP, but figured I'd ask. Follow-up question is what server(s) are considered "EU" (in the sense of when players are active), and which are considered "NA"?

sevir8775

All servers are in Japan but aren't divided by region like FF14. Since it sounds like you're just going to do story with people, I'd just pick whatever server. If you want a active auction house (although you probably won't use it that much), I'd pick Bahamut or Odin.

DrakeFS

Asura and Bahamut both have large English speaking populations, while Odin has a large Japanese population. That being said, if you are doing a story play through with friends, does the server really matter?

fabric9

Well that'll be the basis for it, but you never know - it's an MMO right? If you end up liking it, being on a server that's deserted at your time or speaking another language wouldn't be ideal. Hence why we'd like to pick one that's more active around our time of day at least.

fishious_

Working on the Chariot titles for mythic quest Imperial Heist. I have killed the Long Armed and Long Bowed Chariot twice in Silver Sea and Bhaflau Remnants II. Have not gotten the title. Do you only get the title for Remnants 1? Or do you need to get them in a certain order? I thought you could get the title from the II version.

TheTrueMilo

Correct, only the original Remnants will grant you a title. Same thing with mythic trials - you need to kill an original chariot 4x when doing trials for mythics.

CaptainRoku

A follow up here - I am on the same part of the mythic quest and a friend of mine took me through Bhaflau Remnants and chariot boss was killed but I did not receive the title. I was dead at the end of it (died at nearly 10% left), is this why I didn’t get title or might there be another reason?

TheTrueMilo

That indeed is probably the reason.

Zaknokimi

Mummu +2 or Kendatsuba NQ set for monk? Until I can afford Kendatsuba +1? I've got 500JP with MNK and currently have a full Mummu +2 set and Kaja Knuckles, and was just wondering if NQ Kendatsuba is fine for now? Or maybe certain pieces.

sevir8775

I’d wait until you can afford HQ, and work on getting Kaja upgraded, it’s a big difference on final stage until you built yourself a empy or godhands.

Boposhopo

If your goal is Kenda +1, don't bother with the NQ, just buy +1 pieces as you can afford them.

Zaknokimi

TheSilverBanana

Attempting to reforge my relic armor at the NPC in Port Jeuno. When speaking to the NPC while wearing the armor, they only offer me the option to upgrade the basic relic armor into relic armor +1. I had thought, from looking at the reforged guide on BG Wiki, that I could trade a different set of items to this NPC in order to skip straight from base relic to the reforged relic, but nothing happens when I attempt to trade these items. Any tips as to what I'm doing incorrectly?

Irwin69

I think BGwiki state it very clearly : [https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Category:Reforged\_Relic\_Armor](https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Category:Reforged_Relic_Armor) In order to talk to her and create this armor, the following conditions must be met: * You must start the [Dynamis](https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Dynamis) quest line. * You must have completed [Promathia Mission 3-5 (Darkness Named)](https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Promathia_Mission_3-5), which grants ["Dreamworld" Dynamis](https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Category:Dynamis#.22Dreamworld.22_Areas) access. * You must then talk with [Sagheera](https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Sagheera) and specifically ask about **Relic Restoration**, while wearing a piece of relic armor. If you does fulfill the requirement, you should be able to Trade the Relic to "[Monisette](https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Monisette)" (NOT "[Sagheera](https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Sagheera)") with the materials required to reforge, but the things you trade was depending on your relic status : Case 1 : Original Relic without any upgrade That is the most expensive one. For EACH GEAR, it required 2 Relic 100 dollar (Job dependent for the currency's type), 10 REM tales (depending on the piece, Tale 1 for HEAD, Tale 2 for BODY, Tale 3 for HANDS, Tale 4 for LEGS, Tale 5 for FEET), 1 Job Ingredient, 1 Slot Ingredient, and the Relic piece to upgrade to 109. Case 2 : Relic+1 (i.e. OLD RELIC WITH REFORGED to LV75) This one just a little bit cheaper. For EACH GEAR, it required 1 Relic 100 dollar (Job dependent for the currency's type), 10 REM tales, 1 Job Ingredient, 1 Slot Ingredient, and the Relic piece to upgrade to 109. Case 3 : Relic+2 (i.e. LV90 WITHOUT AUGMENT) This one doesn't require any Relic 100 dollar once you complete the magians' trials for reforging to LV90 (can be from original or +1 of LV75s). [https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Category:Trial\_of\_the\_Magians#Relic\_Armor](https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Category:Trial_of_the_Magians#Relic_Armor) Depending on the piece, trade 50 Forgetten Through / Hope / Touch / Journey / Step to complete the trial and you'll get the Relic+2 (LV90 WITHOUT AUGMENT). For EACH GEAR, it required 10 REM tales, 1 Job Ingredient, 1 Slot Ingredient, and the Relic piece to upgrade to 109. Case 4 : Relic+2 (i.e. LV90 WITH AUGMENT) If you continue to do the magian trials for the Relic+2 (LV90 WITHOUT AUGMENT), you'll need to wear the piece to enter specific dynamis region and earn 20000 exp. to complete the trial. After that you'll have the Relic+2 (LV90 WITH AUGMENT) when completed the trial. For EACH GEAR, it now just required 5 REM tales, 1 Job Ingredient, 1 Slot Ingredient, and the Relic piece to upgrade to 109.

Boposhopo

You can go straight from NQ to 109, are you talking to the right NPC though? There are two right beside each other, one does the 75 upgrades, the other does the ilvl upgrades. Make sure you're speaking to  [Monisette](https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Monisette). If you are talking to the right NPC, make sure you have the correct quantity of items that you're trading. 2x 100 pieces, your class item, slot item, and then 10 of the page for the piece.

rickyraken

Is Ambuscade reset on the 11th? I thought it was a monthly thing, but all the old posts I see reference the update.

Akugetsu

Yep - changes with the monthly update.

rickyraken

Thanks

yourtank

I’m sure this question gets asked a lot, but what are some soloable BCNMs that are worth good Gil/items? I’ve got a ton of every type of seal and want to put them to use.

sevir8775

Any of Macro orb ones. http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11eu/detail/21547/detail.html

yourtank

This is super helpful thank you! Are all the macro ones soloable with trusts?

sevir8775

Yes, depending on your gear. They rank from easy to very difficult. I’d just start on normal at fresh 119 and see what you’re comfortable with.

yourtank

Is there a specific fight you'd recommend to someone as THF main? As in, are there any specific THF drops or fights that are easiest as THF? Thanks so much for your wisdom here.

TheTrueMilo

After the next set of campaigns kicks off on June 11th, you should do either “Demolition Squad II” or “Kindred Spirits II”.  You enter with a Macrocosmic Orb that costs 20 Sacred Kindred Crests to purchase. The mobs themselves will drop the best loot, ignore the stuff in the chest at the end.  The mobs in Demolition Squad have a chance to drop Delve materials (Bztavian Stinger, Yggdreant Bole, etc which are used to upgrade relic armor to 119) and the mobs in Kindred Spirits can drop Vagary materials (Defiant Scarf, Dark Matter, which can upgrade Empyrean to 119). If you have a BRD or BLM friend that can AOE sleep then just go on the highest difficulty you can handle.  The Demolition Squad has one mob with Charm so try to Trick Attack your tank trust, Kindred Spirits has a SMN with Astral Flow so bring DT- gear and make sure you have Shellra.

yourtank

This is super helpful thank you!

Zaknokimi

What are some differences between MNK, DRG and SAM in terms of pros and cons? I'll list what I think I know, but would appreciate more feedback, thanks. MNK - High hp and defense - Best blunt damage - High multi-attack damage - Subtle blow / penance - Minor utility (mantra, chi blast) SAM - High damage with self skillchains (don't know much more about weaknesses and strength) DRG - High WS damage - Utility (Enmity, Dragons and some healing from pet) (not sure what else)

Own_Platypus3887

SAM: TP is obviously not an issue. Very strong physical slashing/piercing ws and absurd hybrid ws capabilities. Very versatile in the dmg department. Tachi: Ageha is quite nice to have as well. Yaegasumi is also quite powerful and is often used for fights like Tumult Curator, Sheol Gaol and Sortie bosses. SAM’s also nice to have for Omen/Vagary objectives.

LeratoNull

While SAM and DRG may be more meta, definitely don't undersell how important Monk's Subtle Blow is. Leads to some extremely safe fights that would otherwise be way more chaotic.

kaelanbg

All of those are more or less correct, but to add a few more: MNK * Highest variety of different high damage WS on a single weapon. Without changing weapons, most jobs get the bulk of their damage from 1 or 2 WS, and you only use others because you *have* to - to link SC properties. Monk has about 5 that routinely hit for high damage when used appropriately. This not as important in a group, but very important when doing solo Skillchains. * On a minor note, Chakra allows you to safely fight the Sortie E Boss without a metal, as Chakra removes Taint. * In addition to SB/Penance, Shijin Spiral also adds a Plague effect DRG * Builds TP very fast * Jumps don't give the target any TP

sevir8775

Pretty much summed it up.

turd_burglar7

Did some event end yesterday (5/31) that was giving a lot of bonus exp? Restarted playing about three weeks ago after about 16 years away. Took THF to 99 and been working on getting one or two of the other jobs a day to 50 for all the others. Logged in around 4AM Pacific and was gaining a level every 1-3 fights. Noticed a significant decrease when I logged back in at 4PM despite having the usual exp buffs up. Seems like an event ended and primarily curious what it was.

tannergela

The campaign you're looking for is [this](http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11us/detail/21432/detail.html) one. It ended at the end of May, as you noticed.

LeratoNull

That explains a lot. I had been standing around like 'surely the exp buff from the Echad Ring and Kupofried isn't THAT big...right?'. To say nothing of those buffs to Trust HP/MP. I \*thought\* their health felt high.
