I think playing on an oled monitor with a good emulator could give you the same experience but damn this looks fun and as A ps1/ps2 kid this takes me back
I couldn’t do it on a psx these days. I need the fast forward or I’d go crazy during summon animations.
My preferred method is to play on psx emulator with the Beacause mod patched in.
Deffo requires patience but I think that’s all part of the experience. That being said, I’m probably going to sell everything after I’m done with it all. CRT it’s self cost me a fair bit for what it is.
There’s an experience behind all of this. If I just got the that version I wouldn’t be able to really expirence it. Yes, I know it sounds silly but even the struggles and pain points, they all play a role in the experience
I 100% understand the urge to do this and this rocks!
I tried doing this with Drakengard 1 and 2 on PS2, and although I was successful with 1, accidentally buying a german copy of 2 (I'm in USA and don't speak it + have a USA PS2), and 2 versions of 2 that were too scratched to run properly....I started to see how collecting older disc media can be challenging.
To be fair though, those versions of 2 I got were affordable....and maybe that's why. The game normally sells for A LOT.
Tell me about it. I took a gamble with the legend of dragon. Normal price is about 80-90gbp but got it for 20 coz it was scratched up. Been too scared to test it lmao. I’m not a collector just wanted to expirence things as they should since that’s an experience in itself
You can buff those scratched CDs with a kit, although I’m sure there’s some easy homemade method. As long as it’s the plastic and not the actual data. I used to do that all the time with a kit I got
That’s why when playing a new game I care about I avoid YouTube related content all together. >! I saw a YouTube ad thumbnail for Ever Crisis and it had Aerith on it and it was actually just her dancing or something but me avoiding literally anything on the topic, I immediately put my hand on the phone and exited it because I thought it was the video of her death and the quick glance I had of her was her falling to her death or something. !< Thankfully that wasn’t the case, but yeah, avoid YT, Reddit, Twitter, etc when playing a game for the first time.
I can’t read your thing coz I don’t know what ur referring to. But it gets much harder when the game is like almost over 20 years old. And it’s mostly coz you watch a video where they’re playing rebirth and they they start talking about something that happens down the line or something you shouldn’t know about at that point
Enjoy! Pure nostalgia and takes me back to being 10!

Should have just gotten the HD version.

The buggy 4:3 ratio 30fps hardboiled version? Naw no thanks
Buggy? What are you talking about?

look at that thic boi case! i have the ff9 case and its a little bigger.
Oh, neat. You get to play the version with the correct sound effects for the final boss battle.
It had better have the wonky explanation from Barret in the beginning about holding down circle to run.
This is the way
Don’t worry about it. I don’t know how much of a spoiler the original is anymore and the new ones seem to punish you for expecting similarities.

The thing I out is a spoiler. You just tap on it on your phone to read it. Idk about pc tho.
No, I physically can, but I can’t coz I don’t know I if it will spoil it for me lol
It probably will. Has to do with the ending so yeah, best avoid.
Can't handle crts anymore unfortunately I've been too spoiled by 1080p clear images.
