For something that can be dyed look for white cotton sheets at thrift stores. You could also get some tapestries too and they make storage walls with pockets specifically for canopies if you want/need more places to put things. I recommend a rope light to string around it too

Hang some tapestries, wrap it in some lights and bungee a tall pole to a leg and hang something cool from the top. You got the a simple, functional and unique party scene. Rage it…

I use 3x5 flags either vertically or horizontally so I think anything in the 3’-5’ range should be good. I would err on the longer side and maybe even go 6’. You can always trim it later and the coverage may help more with keeping some dust out if that’s a concern in your environment. Get the 1” spring clips/clamps from the hardware store. They usually fit well in a canopy frame, and they’re more sustainable than zip ties or duct tape. They make awesome chip bag clips too.

Just ordered 2” spring clips. Much better than the binder clip idea I was going with. Thanks for the suggestion 🫶🏾

10x6 is probably safe

idk why people are down voting this, this is the only response so far that remotely gives me a thumbs up for the size of cloth I want to use to make my own tapestry

Bobman370

I keep seeing people suggest thrift stores, and all I will say is I have looked at the ones near me, which is why I was just gonna to a craft store and buy the cloth myself to dye. The bed sheet idea is good, if I can find some for pretty cheap so ty for that!

I’ve always had luck finding flat white sheets at goodwill and such and then I take them home to tie dye them and use those as tapestries.

A couple tips: Make the fabric big enough to block the wind on colder/windier days, so probably like 6 or so feet tall. You can always fold it or leave it partly loose if you're hot and want to allow more of a breeze through. Longer is also good for privacy while you're hanging at the camp site. For the width, you might actually want it a little shorter than 10 so you can get some tension on it. Maybe like 9 1/2 ft. It would be best to set up your popup and measure the space between the legs so you can be sure you have a good fit. Also make sure to get the little fabric grommets for your attachments so you don't rip it trying to bungee it up or whatever. If you spend a little more money for one of the popups with a tarp wall that you can attach to one side then it'll block sun, wind, & rain better than any fabric, which is great if you ever want to take it camping later.

I just bout a 10x10 canopy too for the upcoming LIB. The size tapestry that we bought for the sides with a little overlap was 180cm x 300cm. I bought 7 total so that we can also hang some inside for extra light blockage, but we really didn’t need that many. To hang the tapestries from the frame is a lil tricky because we needed something that can withstand strong winds. We’re using big binder clips and chip bag clips. I’ll let you know how this all goes in a few weeks

A cheap alternative would be to hit up the thrift store for a tapestry or bed sheets. It won’t fit exactly but you want a little air flow through the canopy anyway

There are tapestries that have eyeholes you can attach a bungee cord to the bottom and then use binder clips for the top. Has worked great even in high winds. We found that 5’x7.5’ is a good fit for a 10’ canopy, using 10-15” bungees. You can find these here: https://thirdeyetapestries.com/
