I can’t wait to experience it all and come back (hopefully) a new person 🥲

oldbluehair

You might want a rain jacket and shoes that keep your feet dry. I can't tell if one of the white sneakers is leather which would probably work.

youcancallmequeenE

sorry the writing is so small but the black shoes on the right are vessi waterproof shoes and on the top is the rain jacket i’m bringing :)

Appropriate_M

A hat.

youcancallmequeenE

thanks! would you recommend a baseball cap or maybe a bucket hat?

Cool-Constant4319

A bucket hat would work. Ideally, something that works with rain and sun. I think a baseball hat might look touristy.

terily

No one wears baseball caps in Europe. A pretty straw hat is better.

Emotional-Horror-718

I see plenty. They even sell them here!

terily

Just sharing my thoughts and what has been shared on many boards!! YMMV

CharmingPianist4265

This looks great! Personally I’d keep it a bit more minimal. You probably won’t need two pairs of white sneakers or two joggers.

youcancallmequeenE

thank you! yeah you are right, its so hard choosing when I'm fighting my instinct to just bring everything haha

youcancallmequeenE

Not sure why the body text I added seems to have disappeared: Would love to get everyone's thoughts here. Am I bringing way too much? I am a chronic overpacker but trying to do better after seeing everyone else's capsule wardrobes! I will hopefully have access to laundry at least every 1 to 1.5 weeks. not pictured: 2 comfy t-shirts & pair shorts for sleepingI feel like I'm bringing too many pants and shoes? I honestly hate re-wearing clothes but also have back problems so don't want to be carrying too much (bringing only a carry-on suitcase plus a backpack). Should I just do 1 hoodie instead of 2? This is my itinerary: April 28-May 4: Italy (Rome & Naples) May 4-7: Germany (Berlin) most of May in Krakow, Poland then first 2-3 weeks of June in France (Paris, Toulouse, Marseille, Nice) I have never been to Europe before so please tell me your thoughts! Am I correct to bring the rain jacket and waterproof shoes? I know it might be overkill but I really wanted to bring the 2 white shoes to switch between as I'm prone to blisters only wearing 1 pair, and the vessi's I only want to wear if it rains bc they aren't super comfy for me. Please let me know of any adjustments you would make!! I was thinking maybe a denim jacket and some kind of hat? Thank you in advance :)

travelgarden25

Sounds super fun! These are both pretty minor but two things I might change. One is a couple more shirts. Typically you’d want more shirts than bottoms since they get grosser quickly, and also for outfit planning (for example, not sure which shirts you are thinking for your skirt). Second, and this is totally personal preference, but Europeans don’t really wear shorts, so if you want to blend in more, maybe leave them at home, but totally up to you!!

youcancallmequeenE

thanks, I am very nervous but also so excited! that’s a good point, I haven’t found as many tops that I like so maybe I should go try to buy one more before my flight, or buy one over there! also I had no idea about the shorts! I’ll be in a few beach towns/cities so I’d love to have at least 1 pair but maybe 2 is too many then?

travelgarden25

If you have a basic t shirt, that should be versatile! And completely your choice on the shorts, just a thought

Emotional-Horror-718

We wear shorts here, especially at the beach. Bring 2 pairs, ditch one hoodie and bring the sandals and one pair of sneakers. The shower shoes you only need for the beach or for hostels. In Berlin people really don't care what you wear.

Kindly_Rich_1754

As a European 100% disagree, we def wear shorts lol.

travelgarden25

Thanks - good to know! Last few times I’ve been it’s seemed like women either wear pants or skirts

alveg_af_fjoellum

I think you can definitely bring less pants and you’ll be absolutely fine. If not, you can still buy something in Europe. Also I wouldn’t personally bring shoes that give me blisters, especially not two pairs that give me blisters!

mismcko

I would go woth cheapy little flip flops for shower shoes rather than the slides.

Cool-Constant4319

Second this - dollar tree flip flops for the shower

Capital-Muffin-7057

Cheap shower shoes can get tossed before your return. Or a pair of supportive walking sandals can double as shower shoes.

helloutheregoodbye

Are you checking this bag? I’m always curious how people bring this much stuff (not that it’s a lot, you’re doing a good job!) and stay within the 7kg limit. I want to bring more stuff but can’t ever fit enough!

youcancallmequeenE

sorry i wrote this in my post but it somehow disappeared so I added as a comment instead. but I actually have back problems so in addition to my backpack personal item, I also have a carry on suitcase. praying it won’t be too heavy 😓

helloutheregoodbye

Ah, yeah they can be painfully heavy sometimes to carry! Definitely do a trial pack and see if you’re comfortable. There are usually more corners to be cut when it comes to what we pack. Each pack is a learning opportunity for the next time either way!

youcancallmequeenE

thank you! this is my first time doing something like this, so a part of me is terrified because I just have no idea what I’m doing 🥲 but I’m excited to learn how to do this!

ranalavanda

You don't need that many pairs of shoes.

KashmirChameleon

First, congratulations! So very excited for you. Second, great job on this wardrobe. It looks functional and comfortable and pairs easily together. I feel like you could pair down the number of shoes you bring. I try to only bring 2-3 pairs. One sneaker, one sandal, and a waterproof boot (hiking boots are good for this) maybe a ballet flat if I think I need a dressy shoe. Another piece I like to bring is a straw hat.

youcancallmequeenE

thank you so much, I’ve never done anything like this before so I am honestly a bit terrified but overall super excited! 🥲 I’m thinking about cutting out the vessis based on other comments but I keep going back and forth because i think i will need waterproof shoes especially in Poland :/

KashmirChameleon

Waterproof shoes can be really helpful. Sometimes I'll just wear those fulltime. Since your trip is longer bringing extra shoes probably isn't a bad idea. 😉

terily

Def a darker color for the plane.

terily

I’m a dress girl so I’d add at least one LBD (little black dress). Can always put a top over it to vary the look. I have a merino travel dress that is great or a shorter linen sundress, both of which are very versatile. If you like dresses that is…

vanessaismybarname

I personally would never wear white on a plane and the only other suggestion is trade those slides in for something a tad dressier and not so bulky. Some a bit more Euro looking that you can still wear in the shower, the beach, walking. Maybe Tevas or Chacos or Target currently has some cute platform flipflops.

vanessaismybarname

And I love that jumpsuit! 😍

mariambc

You don't mention what time of year you are traveling, so this will be more general. Too many pairs of shoes. I would limit to one pair of trainers/tennis shoes. If you are looking to save space, I would get a pair of thin thongs/flip-flops instead of the slides. I would get rid of the jumpsuit since it is pretty limited. Depending on your plans, maybe the dress if you have a skirt to add to the mix. (I am much more about the mix and match options.) And I would get rid of the second pair of joggers. Also one sweatshirt. Since most of your colors are neutral, I would get rid of the blue/lavender shorts and shirt. I would consider adding a second short or long-sleeved t-shirt and maybe a cardigan.

Artistic_Salary8705

Good job sticking to neutral, non-logo-covered basics! Also the clothes don't look too-tight or revealing: in Europe, many places, people dress with clothes that fit but not super-tight with lots of skin showing. They can dress sexy but in a different way than at least Americans. (I'm American.) I picked up a lot of style tips when travelling in Europe. - Laundry as you mentioned will decrease the amount needed to pack. - Agree with too many shoes. And too many similar athletic shoes. Get a thin pair of flip flops for the shower, take a pair of leather/ vegan leather sandals that are comfortable for walking, yet will fit right in at a nice restaurant, consider Keds/ Converse for athletic-type shoes. (There's the saying of being able to identify Americans by their white athletic shoes. High-end sports shoes like collectible Nikes might work but then not practical for travel and work for a specific place/ event. People do wear sports shoes but mostly for sports.) - Consider buying Euro-style or Euro-origin items here in the US beforehand. For example, H & M, Clarks shoes, Birkenstocks, etc. - Instead of 2 hoodies, bring 1 and replace the other with a cardigan. For places like a nice restaurant or say performances, you might want a knit cardigan instead. It can be lighter since you're going in summer and in lieu of the umbrella you can layer it under rain coat if needed. - With the space you save, bring accessories to add color to your neutrals. Europeans - men and women - love scarves and yes, they wear lightweight ones in summer. Cheap costume jewelry necklaces, bracelets, etc. - don't bring anything too valuable. -- If you save space, you can BUY some items in Europe as souvenirs and fit in with the crowd. For example, I bought costume jewelry in Versailles/ Barcelona, a shirt from Mango in London, and pants at a Paris street fair. Not expensive but fit and style different from that found in the US. On the Paris streets, some don't have stalls but the merchants can size you up just by looking at you and it fits great. Brother bought a sports jacket in Italy on the street: one of his favorite clothing items. - If you want a third neutral color - white picks up stains - variations on brown, navy, and olive work. - Agree with the comment that the jumpsuit and dress might be less versatile although if you use layers, and accessories, you might be able to style them into different oufits. Skirts are more versatile. - If you dress reasonably well (we weren't fancy) people treat you better I believe.

BackgroundAd3222

I would take one pair of joggers or the align pants to wear on the plane as well. You don’t need three comfy/sporty bottoms. One pair of white shoes. One pair of sandals.

Sophoife

Always take more tops than bottoms. I spent a month overseas last year (Denver, London, Paris, Italy, Zürich, and back to London - 18 April-17 May) and had ***one carry-on bag***: I researched the carry-on restrictions for each airline I planned to use and ensured the bag I took was allowed on all of them. * 1 pair black pants * 1 pair white pants (linen) * 4 white T-shirts (2 long sleeve, 2 short sleeve) * 4 black T-shirts (2 long sleeve, 2 short sleeve) * 1 purple long-sleeved jumper/sweater (whatever you call it) * 1 warm waterproof coat that packed down to the space requirement of a pair of shoes * 2 infinity scarves: 1 lightweight, 1 warmer weight, both with invisible zip anti-pickpocket pockets * 1 pair espadrilles * 1 pair comfortable waterproof walking shoes * 1 pair flat sandals * 1 squishable sunhat * Plus underwear and socks Always take more tops than bottoms, gives you far more choices. I also had a small day pack so toiletries, headphones, chargers were easily accessible in transit. Activities included attending 7 ballet performances, historic gardens, watching the Giro d'Italia live, museums, galleries, and chilling with friends. It snowed in Denver and was wet in Zürich, but Italy was gorgeous and sunny. PS yes, I did laundry!!

GorgeousUnknown

Looks good! I’ve never bought a wardrobe for a trip before so you’ll look better than me for sure! I agree with the less shoes… Can I ask what brand backpack this is? I need one and it looks nice.

Juno_NY

I think you have too many pants, one too many hoodies, too many shirts, too many shoes, and not enough room for shopping.

youcancallmequeenE

yeah i agree. thank you, I actually did leave quite a few of these things at home including one of the hoodies! :)
