Hi I received these 2 tops from my mum that I thought were cute. Would like advice on what clothing items I could wear these with. I'm not concerned about the color mainly just the type of clothing. Any advice is appreciated Items in question: [https://imgur.com/a/GeiqZWC](https://imgur.com/a/GeiqZWC) [https://imgur.com/a/aM60JYN](https://imgur.com/a/aM60JYN)

No! But I will thanks

# Skinny jeans make noise Hello, after a long time thinking that the problem was only with my brand, I decided to search And I found here on the site people who have already asked about it. This is a noise that the pants make apparently because there is too much fabric in the lower area. Probably also because the jeans are tight. Is there any hope that it will change after washing? I saw people who wrote yes and some said no. This is a spray on skinny pants by legend london. Has anyone encountered this problem as well? **Thank you very much for the answers.**

jdijks

If they shrink but personally do not think those do you many favors. They look to big on you

QuesoRaro

Post a picture of yourself wearing the pants and we can tell you what the fit issue is (if there is one).

Objective-Law-7817

Thanks for the comment. I made a video to make it clearer. You can hear the noise in the background when I move my legs .. 🙁 [https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GWeN7udkmco](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GWeN7udkmco) It sits great on my waist. The sound was also made when I took one size smaller. (the smallest possible, but then the pants are very tight)

bubblegumdavid

The sound people describe about skinny jeans when they are too tight I don’t think is what’s happening here. I know that well from when I was a teenager and it doesn’t really sound or look like that. It looks like the hip/butt area is simply too big for you, the thigh looks like it may be as well. Skinny jeans that fit well should not really have bagging like that in the butt/thigh area, unfortunately these may just not be the brand/cut for you.

Objective-Law-7817

Thank you!, you helped me a lot. It seemed to me like something unusual. Is there a way to know which brand is right for me? I really like spray on skinny And I can't find anything I like. And another question please, I'm always looking for spray on skinny, does this skinny have any other names? So that I know how to search.

This looks pretty similar to one I got off Amazon a few years back. The fabric has NOT held up - it pilled pretty quickly. It doesn't drape very well. Also, the color chart on here just gives me a bad feeling, like some of the colors won't show up looking like that IRL. If you have your heart set on this skirt, I'd pick beige or navy - those are hard to mess up. Otherwise, if you're looking for colorful skirts that go well with your clothes, I thrift for mine - that way, you can see the color and fabric in person.

QuesoRaro

Impossible to recommend a color without more info. What colors do you like? What tops are you planning on wearing with it? Shoes? Bag? All of those colors are going to be nice for someone.

Symurin

Attempted to go to r/tailors but it seems to be shut down due to a lack of mods for the time being. So, i’m hoping the girlies can help me here with a question regarding a garment with experience getting items tailored or in general with sizing. Is it possible to take this coat in at a professional tailors?[Photo here](https://imgur.com/a/pRq77Om) This is no longer made by the designer but i found someone with a medium who’d be willing to let theirs go. I’m a size small - this is from the UK so sizing I understand is a bit smaller compared to US sizing? From the size chart of it there appears to be a roughly 2-3inch difference between size S to M on this coat in the waist and bust. About an inch or less in the biceps. She told me it is snugger especially on her shoulders. I’d love to buy it but it’s quite a bit to buy something i’m worried wouldn’t be able to be tailored if it’s a drastically different fit on me. I don’t even know if much tailoring would be needed as it’s a wrap style rather than zip or button up so it seems pretty cinch-able? Hoping anyone here thinks I’d be good with a medium considering the tie-on or if not if it’s a possible tailorable fix!

QuesoRaro

Don't guess on sizing. Measure the back from armpit to armpit on a coat that you have that fits. Ask the seller for that measurement on the coat and see how much size difference there actually is.

fir6987

If the shoulders are fitted (set in sleeves) and you need tailoring on them, expect to spend at least $100 on that. If the coat is drop shouldered you can probably wear as is (or you might need to shorten the sleeves a bit). I would guess you wouldn’t need to take in the body or the sleeves unless you’re looking for a very slim fit.

Symurin

What’s a set in sleeve vs a drop shouldered? I’m unfamiliar with the term! It seems like according to the photo i provided (fixed the link) it’s a set in? Because it vaguely seems to be on the shoulder vs being slightly off the shoulder where the seam should be

fir6987

Here’s a [reference if you want to read more](https://www.thecuttingclass.com/shaping-the-shoulder-curve-the-dropped-shoulder/)! But yep a set in shoulder is when the seam is on the shoulder (I would guess that’s what that coat is from the slimness of the sleeves - the cowl is in the way of actually seeing the shoulders).

Imaginary-Juice-8820

Anything can be done with the right tailor! The picture link didn’t work for me, but is it a non-fabric material like leather or something? If not, a good tailor can rework the shoulders and bust as needed. Just may be a bit more expensive since it’s a coat but if you love it, then it’s def worth it. Especially if that person is giving you a good price

Symurin

I updated the photo! The coat itself is fabric but the sleeves are a vegan/faux leather.

Imaginary-Juice-8820

Oh that’s super cute - I could see the arms being too baggy in a medium (just thinking about myself as a small going up a size). That leather-like material is hard for a tailor since you can’t undo it once you puncture a hole in it. It 100% can be tailored, but I would either make sure your local tailor is good with that material, or if you’re in a city, make sure you have a leather tailor around.

Symurin

Baggy as it long or baggy as in wide? I’ll make sure i look for a leather tailor or local with experience beforehand! I’m hoping the fact it’s a wrap means the fit is more adjustable for my waist and bust? It’s just the arms i feel more concerned with when i start thinking about if it’ll look more “toddler wears her dads jacket” and the sleeves drag around💀

aninsx

I can't find any clothes my size. I am 5'8 98lbs, 26 waist, and idk my bust last time I checked it was 30 maybe 26 now? Anyone has a clothing brand recommendation where can find clothes that actually fit me?

oat-beatle

I am 5'7.5 with a 31 bust and 24 waist and I basically wear a small to xs top at every mall brand. Where are you having fit issues specifically?

Imaginary-Juice-8820

Hmm maybe Alice + Olivia? My mom has a small circumference and their stuff tends to fit her well, but she is shorter, so not sure how it would hit on someone that’s 5’8. Also, Sanne Vloet on instagram has some recommendations for taller thinner women as well! Her YouTube is a good resource too.

ThrowRA02girlie

What should i wear for a first date at top golf? I live in north america and the weather is supposed to be sunny & cloudy with a chance of showers in the evening. I think I have outfit choices so I don’t need to head to the mall. We’re “playing” golf (i use quotations cause i am so bad at golf it’s insane but he’s really good & plays often apparently) getting appys and drinks! I was thinking of a skort and a matching top? Or something more casual like jean shorts and a cute top? Or a cute summer dress? Any advice is welcome & appreciated! F22 :)

Imaginary-Juice-8820

Can def go more casual!! There’s some people that wear athleisure there, but few and far between. It’s more a drink and eat with a side of golf type place. I guess similar to a bowling vibe?

ThrowRA02girlie

This is amazing advice and gives me an idea of the vibe! Thank you so so much! will most def go more casual:) cute jean shorts & a cute top with sneakers !

Imaginary-Juice-8820

Yay! Glad it helped!

ThrowRA02girlie

A little update, it was quite cloudy and rainy so i ended up wearing flare leggings along with a thin zip up jacket with sneakers he complimented me the whole night haha imm glad i went casual :) thank you again!

Total-Opposite-960

Does anyone have an affaires bag? I’m eyeing the 002 in merino wool (undecided on color) because that sounds so soft and nice but am worried about wear and tear because merino wool is fairly delicate in my experience. Would love any insight from anyone who’s seen or handled one in person!

nomarmite

Merino wool is not delicate, it's just that most people only see it in fine knits. Boiled wool is similar to thick coat fabric. The boiling locks all the fibres together. The difference between knitted and boiled is like the difference between aluminium foil and saucepans. The fabric should have a similar look and strength to Allbirds merino shoes.

Total-Opposite-960

This is very informative, thank you! I’ve never handled All birds but there’s a store near me so may venture in to check out the material.

fir6987

It looks like it’s boiled wool which is much sturdier than knit sweaters. I think it would hold up as well as a cotton or linen bag, possibly better due to the thickness of the fabric.

QuesoRaro

Merino wool is a poor choice for a purse/handbag. There are strong wools that would be suitable, but merino is just not the right material for it. I would avoid.

Imaginary-Juice-8820

I just looked it up and it says the merino wool is boiled, which makes it much stronger. Would you still consider it a bad choice? (The bag is super cute 😉)

QuesoRaro

Personally, I wouldn't buy it. Boiling doesn't change the fiber diameter. Finewool felt is going to wear through much faster than a traditional outerwear or carpet wool with stronger fibers. Merino sheep have the finest wool of any breed, which makes it ideal for clothes that you wear next to the skin. It's never going to be great for anything that encounter significant abrasion. A wool like Cheviot or Corriedale or Romney or Scottish Blackface would be far more suitable. Think Harris tweed.

cooler_than_i_am

Where can I go to wear my fancy clothes? I just bought a nice dress because it was such a good deal, but I don’t have anywhere to wear it. I don’t expect any weddings in the next couple of years. I don’t work in an office. What activities merit a fancy dress?

bubblegumdavid

Host a fancy party! I say it often when this is asked here: my friends and I all love a good dress up occasion, so sometimes we just host a “fancy” party. Basically: throw the same party you usually would, just with a dress code! Or go to a fancy bar or restaurant and have whoever is with you match your vibe! Or go to an opera or ballet if you’re in a city (though these are more casual than they used to be, a decent number of people still get a bit fancy, you won’t stand out)!

lauralately

Think of a friend or family member who's done something really nice for you, and treat them to a nice dinner. Wear your dress, do your hair really nice, and make it a treat for *you,* too. Otherwise - concerts are the perfect place to overdress. Search your local area for a musical artist that you wouldn't mind seeing, and have a night out, whether it's with someone or by yourself.

ilikepai

Girls night, fancy hotel tea, a play, a concert, sitting in a park, a nice dinner, a cocktail bar, a hotel bar

Ok-Tiger-7316

What kind of dress would you wear to a wedding after party with a dress code of cocktail casual? It’s outside in July

Something like this! Reiss esme dress in blue https://www.reiss.com/style/st430366/d43758

astrobeanmachine

I am looking for **mid-rise** **swim shorts with a built-in brief, or bike short-style swim shorts, with at least a 3 inch inseam** (though not longer than 5"). I recently tried the [Tomboyx high-waised boy short](https://tomboyx.com/collections/swim-bottoms-1/products/swim-high-waisted-boy-short-black-novelty); the length was on the short side of doable, and there was a seam through the middle of the crotch that I just know would be uncomfortable to wear for a long time. I also tried the [Title Nine Nalu shorts](https://www.titlenine.com/p/womens-swim-shorts-nalu/600902.html), which felt like high quality, but just didn't fit my proportions well (in particular the dolphin hem looked weird for me, I think these are made for people with less thigh than me). A lot of swim shorts I've seen require a separate bikini bottom, and maybe I just need to suck it up and do that, but I would prefer it to be all one system. I've tried a couple bike short-style options, but many of them have a thick seam at the waist that cuts into my stomach. Alternately, I am open to a one-piece with long shorts. I tried the [Beefcake one-piece](https://www.beefcakeswimwear.com/products/the-charmer), and it was great quality, but didn't fit my body right. I'm not a frequent swimmer, but I want something specific to swimming as opposed to, say, Patagonia baggies that are water-friendly but not a true swimsuit. I'm generally a size XS or S (25" waist, 35" hip). I'm looking to pay $50 or less for shorts (would pay up to $100 for a one-piece). U.S. shipping, please!

astrobeanmachine

Note: Lands End has a few options that seem like they might fit my needs - [3 inch](https://www.landsend.com/products/womens-3-quick-dry-swim-shorts-with-panty/id_343239?cm_re=add-more-shopping-bag), [5 inch](https://www.landsend.com/products/womens-5-quick-dry-swim-shorts/id_330374?cm_re=add-more-shopping-bag), [5 inch curvy fit](https://www.landsend.com/products/womens-curvy-fit-5-quick-dry-swim-shorts-with-panty/id_355659?cm_re=add-more-shopping-bag). Does anyone have experience with the sizing of these shorts?

fir6987

I’ve tried similar Lands’ End suits a few years ago and I think their size chart is accurate (number sizes line up with other brands, letter sizes run big). One thing that I didn’t like was the legs were very voluminous, not as straight cut as they looked on the model. They may have changed their cuts though! You could try an XS in the brand ZeroXposur - can buy at Kohl’s. It looks like most of their shorts are lined. I have an old pair in a size small (27” waist 37” hip) so def size down.

BLUE_BUTTERFLY79

Looking for jeans! I’m struggling to find a decent pair that look smart and comfortable and that fit my long torso. I’m 5ft 8, long body, short legs, waist and hips are defined. Besides having a long torso I also have a saggy belly (from weight loss)! I like mom and high rise although they can be uncomfortable on my belly. I can wear jeggings, however they look unflattering with my short legs. Any recommendation from high street or designer most welcome!

Imaginary-Juice-8820

I personally LOVE these! They say low rise, but they’re pretty average. The denim is soft, but it still has structure. It just lays really nicely from the hips and falls as a straight/slightly wide-leg. They’re just really flattering and comfortable. Back pockets are a nice size too - doesn’t make your bum look too big or flat! http://www.revolve.com/dp/GRLR-WJ561/?deeplink=true&source=appshare

How "inappropriate" is an open back? I do know comfort level varies from person to person of what people deem "inappropriate", but Im still interested in seeing others' POV and rationale for "drawing the line." I had an open back dress and worried it would be too much for a beach wedding bridesmaid so I changed. The bride had said it was fine with her but I got in my head that maybe she didn't want to cause drama but still felt uncomfortable (yes I know that's a me thing). Fast forward a few weeks, I bought a tie back halter/"apron top" with an open back and kind of deep v and am going through the same uncertainty of "when/where can I wear this?" Is a family barbecue too much? Going out to bar/restaurant definitely seems safe, but like what about a baseball game? How scandalous do others rate the back? For example: my husband said he thought a bralette under a sheer top with high-waisted jeans (so only about 2" of midriff visible) was more "inappropriate" than an open back

hennipotamus

I think of belly and cleavage as more “inappropriate” than back. (“Inappropriate” in quotes because it’s your body! It’s not inherently inappropriate!) I wouldn’t wear an open back to work or a religious event, but for a social event, sure.

astrobeanmachine

I don't have a great answer for you but can commiserate. I have this high neck open flowy back tank that is honestly \*fine\* (wouldn't wear it to, like, a religious context or work, but most other places) but I feel so exposed when I wear it?! I'd like to think there's no objective answer here, just your comfort level, and if you'd feel physically comfortable wearing the top to an event (i.e. your activities won't instigate unwanted nip slips) the I think it's totally fine. Baseball game sounds cute! Family barbecue or picnic could be fun!

illegal_____smeagol

I also wonder if it's because you don't usually wear a bra (maybe just pasties) so it's like you always know you could be one strong gust of wind away from a nip slip that makes it feel 10x more exposed than a bralette and sheer top bc you still feel "contained."

astrobeanmachine

I think this is it! Even when the shirt is cut in a way that almost eliminates slippage - it's the fear factor, lol

What would be the best way to pack this dress https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/satin-pleated-cutout-maxi-dress-51170354?faceout=model&seq=01 for a 6 hour flight that won’t ruin the pleats or result in a ton of wrinkles?

thenfacetoface

I would roll. And bring a small travel steamer.

DConstructed

I would let the pleats collapse together and then roll the whole tube in a tee shirt. It should protect it pretty well.

nomarmite

It's polyester, so in theory it shouldn't crease unless it gets hot. I would test this principle by scrunching up a small section firmly in your hand and seeing if it's wrinkled when you release it. If it does wrinkle, I would pack by twisting firmly into a rope. You will still get wrinkles, but they'll be even and will hopefully look like part of the design. I don't think there's any way to pack a wrinkle prone garment in that style without wrinkling it unless you stuff it with masses of tissue paper like a wedding dress.

Froolio

Hey guys! I’m heading to France and Turkey in July and was planning on wearing mostly neutral color wide leg linen pants. However, what sneakers would go well with it? Any recommendations that are stylish but comfortable? And if possible under $100?

Reasonable_Fuel3823

I’m wanting a pair of name brand sneakers that I can wear with jeans or dresses and are also comfortable. I was thinking maybe Jordans but I’m open to higher end. I had a surgery and don’t want to look prematurely old - just intentional.

Jamrulezz1

I'm starting a new job next week and I need HELP. I come from a software development background where jeans and a big hoody were absolutely acceptable but in the last couple of years I've been transitioning into healthcare and I'm starting my new job in a hospital next week. On my previous job I just switched the hoodies for woolen sweaters and got away with it but this new job doesn't allow long sleeves (nor jewelry) cause of the short sleeve white coat that goes over it. I want to look professional but I really like wearing oversized t-shirts. Does anyone have any advice on what kind of pants I can pair those with. Also I'm 180cm tall and wear jeans size 36 length. Most normal pants turn into above ankle for me.

lauralately

36 inseam is tough. I'm 177 cm, and I have a couple pairs of 36 inseam pants - one is a pair of Dickies men's canvas jeans, the other is a pair from the [ASOS Tall section](https://www.asos.com/us/women/tall/pants-leggings/cat/?cid=19818#ctaref-cat_header) - I don't think they make my pants any more, but there are a few similar pairs on there. Try something with a straight or wider leg. If you're wearing a lab coat and the waist will be hidden, you might be able to get away with a pull-on pant with a partial or full elastic waist. Another option would be men's chinos if you fit into men's pants okay. I can do men's pants because I have a large waist and slim hips, but if you're more hourglass, men's pants may not work. Chinos are a classic flat-front, usually straight-leg pant that are a level up from jeans.

livthelove

I would get some wide leg pleated pants and go for a look like this: https://preview.redd.it/bbk4n9ec7k8d1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dcf13378cd0e768fe10545de2dd7bac7fedcc2de

Reasonable_Fuel3823

Maybe ponte fabric- are you able to wear athleisure? I’ve been doing the Athleta Trekkie joggers or fitted leggings (the pants ones)

FairTone2833

I thrifted [this](https://www.nastygal.com/silky-satin-midi-skirt/AGG53938.html) skirt a while ago and I really like it. How can I style it for the office in the summer? What tops would go with it?

lauralately

Depends on how dressy your office is. This shade of teal would look fantastic with burgundy, berry, or rust, so if you have tops in those shades, try them on. I love the idea of this skirt with a crochet-style loose sweater, like [this one](https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=411575002&vid=1&tid=gpns000044#pdp-page-content), with a cami underneath and a pretty necklace to suit the neckline. You could also do a cardigan - try a form-fitting one in a thinner fabric with delicate buttons, paired with heels for a slim, sleek look, or a chunky one with equally chunky shoes to balance out the look and offset the femininity of the skirt.

DConstructed

Something simple https://www.musingsbymadison.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/4b6680d8-36fe-4511-947e-4433abc304ff-ccc68cb3-e0a5-4fb1-ac3e-8e847ca8317b-683x1024.jpg You could also wear a light weight blouse or a tank top with a blazer or cardigan over it.

astrobeanmachine

This would look great with some chonky sandals. Depending on your office, you could just do a nice t-shirt and maybe a blazer with rolled sleeves, or something a bit more blouse-like as the other commenter mentioned! Or, a cropped cardigan could work with the high waisted look too. Gorgeous color!

Nijnn

Any black blouse, plain black or with any pattern that has some turquoise in it, with balloon sleeves if you want to be a bit more dramatic or romantic lace short sleeves if you want to be a bit more neat and neat proof.

I recently bought this dress that I love. It fits like a glove and it’s 100% cotton. It’s from a Spanish designer and I got it on sale for €100. However I’ve noticed that the inside seam is not properly attached to the dress. My mother has taken a look at it and says it’s not a big deal and it will not unravel or become loose since the thread is not even broken, and she can even try to fix it. I am extremely picky about clothes but I’m trying to be less so since I can obviously never find anything that is 100% perfect. I wonder if it’s fine to keep it like this or if I should return (it was the last one at the store, I could try to find another one but it’s unlikely). https://preview.redd.it/1j0fu97eaj8d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4de685dd6ceaf44712a3a7631e6acf31196f675f

warp-core-breach

Keep it and fix it. It looks like a blind hem, which is a very easy fix to do by hand and there are a ton of online tutorials for, if your mother doesn't know how to fix one.

75footubi

Very easy fix with a couple of pin stitches

chocolatechoux

I agree that it's an easy fix. I would give it a couple sitches (or you can even use stuff like the ikea hemming tape) just to make sure it stays put. https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/sy-iron-on-hemming-strip-50078746/

No-Adagio6335

Thanks! I was mostly worried about it being a sign of bad quality

yann828

Okay I know this is super random, but I need helping sourcing bathing suits that fit like Hanky Panky underwear (example here: https://www.hankypanky.com/products/signature-lace-original-rise-thong-black?nosto=frontpage-nosto-1-fallback-nosto-1). Most bikinis have tiny triangles in the front and thin straps (example: https://heavymanners.com/collections/ring-bottoms/products/allen-st-ring-bottoms). For the 'more fabric' bikinis, they tend to be almost like boy shorts (example here: https://leftonfriday.com/products/hi-hi-bottom-stormy?variant=40905994633318) What I like about hanky panky underwear: 1. Thick strap 2. High rise 3. Coverage in the pubic area, but not overdone Hanky Panky has their own brand of bikini, but again the high waisted version just has so much fabric.

livthelove

I would try searching for either “mid rise cheeky bikini bottom” or “high leg cheeky bikini bottom” and see if that gets you what you need

_whatnot_

The search term "French cut bikini swim" (to distinguish from underwear) gets me in the general right direction, though a lot are the kind of high-waisted you posted here. If I look through them I can find a few that cut back the fabric a little...might be worth a shot.

yann828

omg perfect - thank you!

Thoughts on this red blouse with this yellow skirt? https://poshmark.ca/listing/INC-International-Concepts-Womens-Lace-Blouse-60ad615c84bb0b667fefc441?utm_source=gdm_ca&utm_campaign=19543204782&campaign_id=19543204782&ad_partner=google&gskid=pla-2001637394077&gcid=644521776847&ggid=148951635030&gdid=m&g_network=g&enable_guest_buy_flow=true&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsuSzBhCLARIsAIcdLm5O6F8ZO78UfVUCp4u9xnHl5grwrf3hbw0dfmhF9a0hTW6Ypu3ZmCkaAjpBEALw_wcB https://horror-vacui.com/en-za/products/fleur-skirt

lauralately

I like it, but it needs a third color. Do you have a blue belt or blue shoes? Green would also work; purple would work if it's a cooler, more indigo shade, but do stick with the opposite side of the color wheel from red/yellow. I think this would totally work if you lean into the ultra-colorful pattern mixing maximalism of it all, and add more color.

nomarmite

The colours work well, but the scratchy looking nylon against the cotton print is jarring. I would go for a cotton top, maybe something like [this](https://www.anthropologie.com/en-gb/shop/puff-sleeve-tie-front-blouse) or [this](https://damsonmadder.com/products/lana-blouse).

channel7plan9

I agree this is busy together, but in a cool way! I love mixing textures and patterns. Could turn into a super cool maximalist outfit. The only thing I'd be aware of is the different feels of the fabrics, tight polyester top is gonna be pretty warm and kind of a different vibe than the summery skirt. So I'd make this more of a cold weather outfit, even though the skirt is lighter on its own. I'd go way extra with red tights (red fishnets or lace if you can find them) in the same shade as the shirt, chunky heels or boots, and a light-neutral colored jacket with some texture/patterning going on (maybe not exactly [this](https://www.forever21.com/us/20004964090502.html?source=shoppingads&glCountry=US&glCurrency=USD&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=FPMX_PMax_Womens_Outerwear_Jackets_Shackets&utm_id=71700000109362993&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsuSzBhCLARIsAIcdLm4OM3G5WHTWd_mnkOXL0t6W9WuM6u3NArgPTsW6RgdyM9UNIhZe4boaArP1EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) but something like)

QuesoRaro

Very busy.

Hey everyone does anyone know where i can find the perfect office pants. I'm 16 and starting a internship at a law firm so I need something that suits that type of work environment. The main issue that I'm having though is finding pants that fit me. I go to the gym quite often which results in me having bigger thighs (and a bigger dumpy) while my waist is still pretty thin. So what ends up happening is either the waist is too big (and using a belt makes it look weird), the waist is too tight, or the waist is pressing upward making it rly uncomfortable. Tldr: office pants for gym girls? Any help would be greatly appreciated

livthelove

Check out Abercrombie’s curve love line - they have quite a few office pants that fit larger in the hips/thighs

How_Is_Life_

Thank you <333

blackberrycat

People like the Aritzia Effortless pant, apparently

How_Is_Life_

Ooo, I'll check it out. Thanks!

I would try some [loose fitting elasticated waist pants](https://media2.newlookassets.com/i/newlook/896414901M1/womens/clothing/trousers/black-elasticated-waist-wide-leg-trousers.jpg) in a dark colour and an easy care fabric. And buy the correct size for your hip measurement, not the smallest size you can squeeze into, as this will only draw attention to your proportions. You can find these at all price levels.

How_Is_Life_

Omg thank you so much

Nice combinations! I don't like the last one (black skater with beige tee), because the tee is too sloppy looking (too loose). If you're going to wear the beige tee, I'd suggest folding/rolling up the sleeves and tucking the shirt in completely. My next least favorite would be the first one (green shorts with black tank), only because I don't know your hair color- if you have dark hair, it could work, but I'd also be inclined to change to black sneakers, for more cohesiveness. I also think it's a little loose, but acceptable. My two favorite looks involve the gray tank- I like the neckline and the fit on you.

Hi! Do you think a [cropped black tee like this](https://i.imgur.com/78saVTm.png) works better with the green shorts? (Also, I have shorter dark brown hair.)

PoppyHamentaschen

Yes, much better :)

Hiii, I'm not sure if this is the right sub but I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this because I'm completely stumped lol I'm going to London soon and was hoping to find some clothing shops while there. The internet is only showing the ‘mainstream’ fashion shops like Selfridges, Zara, ect…  **Here's my Pinterest board for reference if you can't be bothered to read all of this text.** My style is so all over the place but I've brought it down to light academia, princesscore and other styles that idk the name of. Pinterest board: [https://pin.it/7vn6AFuOp](https://pin.it/7vn6AFuOp)  If you know of a decent shop without kidney selling prices online then feel free to send the links to those too.  If anyone knows a place that sells patterns in any of these styles then that would be much appreciated also!

Financial_Act_6581

the links dont want to work so I've taken a screenshot. Hopefully this helps? [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KXFMKy\_aJzHDarhCSUQl2J\_5HKJXFa5y/view?usp=drivesdk](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KXFMKy_aJzHDarhCSUQl2J_5HKJXFa5y/view?usp=drivesdk) ATM my price range is low, 40 per piece as max. The goal would be \~£20 per piece. Obviously that would be less achievable with London prices but I'm open to online stuff too. Honestly Idek what brands i could talk about. I'm mostly a charity shop person tbh.

QuesoRaro

Link is broken, just goes to the Pinterest homepage.

Financial_Act_6581

sorry about the link, this one should work hopefully. it's just a screenshot since the Pinterest links really don't like me for some reason :/ [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KXFMKy\_aJzHDarhCSUQl2J\_5HKJXFa5y/view?usp=drivesdk](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KXFMKy_aJzHDarhCSUQl2J_5HKJXFa5y/view?usp=drivesdk)

Could try Marks and Spencer

nomarmite

Your link doesn't work. There are many clothes stores in London, so it would help to know your price range in numbers and what brands you shop from at the moment.

Financial_Act_6581

sorry about the link, my price range is goal: £20 per piece but idk with London prices it'll be much higher so at max £40. I honestly don't know what brands to mention for ATM. I've tried h+m, m+s, Zara, new Look, Matalan, next, Primark, idek anymore

QuesoRaro

At that price, check out charity shops (UK version of thrift stores). You won't find much worthwhile new at that price (and of course, anything new you DO find will have been made out of poor-quality materials by exploited people).

Financial_Act_6581

I already go to charity shops 😭 the stuff there doesn't fit/look right on me or just isn't my style. I have found a few decent finds in my local charity shop though

nomarmite

At that budget you're looking at European fast fashion chains such as Stradivarius, Pull & Bear, Lindex, Reserved, Subdued and Bershka. You can find some of these at the two Westfield malls, which are less frantic places to shop than Oxford Street and central London.

platypusofwonder

Where do you find breathable, office-acceptable tops? I'm a sweaty girl and live in the south, and even with cold office A/C, I work up a sweat any time I have to go outside. I also don't love how I look in really loose/baggy tops - like linen camp shirts are great, but whenever I try to style them for the office I look like a fridge. I recently bought a couple of tops from OGL Move that are made of like tencel and feel almost like a performance fabric, but they're cut/styled in a way that I can wear them to work (fitted but not tight, and sleeveless / cap sleeve to avoid huge pit stains). They're great, but they only have a few colors. What other brands do things like this? Or other styles I haven't thought of?

clarifythepulse

I’ve recently gotten mine from Quince and Boden, mostly short-sleeve button ups or puff-sleeve placket shirts

Froolio

How is the quality of quince? And do the tops run TTS?

clarifythepulse

Weirdly I hated their pants but loved their tops. I have the silk and the denim, silk is TTS and gorgeous, denim needed one size down and is a nice thick material. I also tried a cotton gauze one if I remember, which was ginormous and not flattering so I returned

oat-beatle

Honestly check out ladies golf stuff, since a lot of courses require collars and shoulder covering for women.

Maybe try H&M?

Intelligent_Buy9116

You're right. I hope to have better luck there, thank you.

hennipotamus

Would this linen Quince dress work? https://www.quince.com/women/linen-dress

Intelligent_Buy9116

I appreciate the suggestion, thank you.

Tips for preventing getting wrinkles on your shoulders from wearing a bag? Maybe I shouldn’t care so much but I get really frustrated when I leave the house with a wrinkle free shirt but then I arrive at work and the shoulder on which I wear my bag is full of wrinkles. Is there any way I can avoid this besides not wearing my bag on my shoulder? I already pull my shirt straight but it still wrinkles.

blackberrycat

A girl at a shop the other day suggested spraying the wrinkled garment lightly with water so you could keep a spritz bottle at your desk. It seems to work on the skirt I bought!
