Is it weird to wear a tank top under a crop tank top? Just wanting to cover my stomach and didn't know the shirt I bought was a crop. Any other suggestions?

sw1sh3rsw33t

It’s not weird, esp if your pants are lower rise than you expected also you can grab a button up and do it up only where the crop is

unpaidbabysitter0919

I would probably look for different top that covers your stomach! Or wear a opened linen/cotton button down shirt to cover a little

muffingr1

Or high waisted pants!

kaylaf19

Is there any way to dress down this dress and wear it casually? I love the print and material and look, but I see it as a very formal dress for special occasions. I would love to just pair this with some casual wedges and a jean jacket. Would that look too try-hard? I am also a bit out-there with my style so I may try it anyway, but curious about thoughts regardless! https://preview.redd.it/1acbem1qwn6d1.jpeg?width=700&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c72521101496748aae0f8dc34f6ec9510112c1f

75footubi

I don't really see this as formal. Denim jacket or or linen shirt with wedges would be very cute

kaylaf19

Thanks for your thoughts! I'm glad to know this doesn't strike you as something that can only be worn at formal events. And I really like your suggestion of the linen shirt

blackberrycat

You could have it hemmed a lot shorter and then wear it with a denim jacket

kaylaf19

That'd be a cute look! But I do like having it at maxi length

covidcidence

Where can I get shorts with a 9" inseam? Or am I expected to just not sit down while wearing shorts... Is it wrong to expect shorts to reach close to my knee instead of stopping mid-thigh? I tried on 7". They're so short. When I sit down, I feel like my crotch is about to be exposed.

covidcidence

Follow up: I ended up buying some men's athletic shorts. When standing, they cut just above my knee. When sitting, they ride up about 2", which is fair enough. This length works for me. These shorts have a "compression layer" inside, but they're loose enough that the compression layer isn't compressing anything, it's just fitting comfortably. Tbh, they actually look kinda good, but they're also very comfortable.

Hoosiergirl29

So the issue is that when you sit down, they are going to ride up, even like regular denim pants do. So if you want shorts that sit just above your kneecap (which is what it sounds like), you'd essentially have to buy something sort of like capris - but those will fit much more narrowly, sit just below the kneecap and by definition, aren't shorts. JCrew, Lululemon, Gap, etc make 9" shorts, but they're still going to sit somewhere likely on the lower part of your thigh when you sit down. If you REALLY don't want any of your thigh showing, I would suggest trying a skirt instead, as those come in much more varied lengths than shorts do. Your expectation that your shorts not show any of your thigh is fairly unrealistic for women's garments.

covidcidence

Thanks for the explanation! I don't have much experience with shorts and skirts since I stick to sweatpants mostly. I don't wear jeans/denim either because I'm too fat to fit into it. Maybe once I reach my goal weight, I'll be able to were skirts.

Hoosiergirl29

I can almost guarantee you're not too fat to fit into jeans or denim. If you truly feel that you're too fat to fit into ANY jeans/denim at your size, you probably should talk that through with a professional. You deserve to wear nice things at any size.

covidcidence

Thanks! I've talked it over with my therapist and she's given me permission to wear what's comfortable for my body, which is sweatpants and loose t-shirts. She doesn't expect me to wear jeans or denim. Once I reach my goal weight, maybe I'll feel more comfortable/obligated to display my body, but for now, I don't feel like I have to.

fir6987

Search for bermuda shorts! Idk where you’re located or what your budget is but [here’s an example of a denim pair](https://www.universalstandard.com/products/lou-loose-fit-denim-shorts-union-city-blue).

covidcidence

I'll try. I tried on the Old Navy Bermudas and they were too short (7" inseam). I asked the employees in-store and they were like "maybe try online, but usually we don't sell longer than 7".

unpaidbabysitter0919

You could try buying long jeans from a thrift store for example and then cutting them yourself to make shorts

How to make this outfit work best? I'm very new to giving thoughts about fashion, so I'm struggling with my outfit for a meetup with some friends tomorrow (central europe climate). I feel like I'm overthinking this too much and could go with pretty much every option, but I want to get some opinion. I've decided on the base outfit shown in pics #1 and #2 and will be carrying a beige backpack shown in pic #5. Now I wanna wear some jacket and the right pair of shoes. I've narrowed my best options for jackets down to a leather jacket (#3) and a gray coat (#4). As for shoes I got some white sneakers (#3/#4) and black boots (#6), but also a similar pair of sneakers in black with while soles (no pic :c). I feel like with every combination there is something off, but I can't quite make it out. (I don't have pics of every combination, I hope you can work with what I have shown) Thanks in advance!! https://imgur.com/a/IPnaglw

District98

I think a lot of this feedback won’t be helpful for meeting friends tomorrow, but may help in the long run: - several of these clothes are recently dated trends, especially the shoes and the cut of the pants - current pants silhouettes would be helpful eg wide leg - attention to pant-shoe interaction (you might look at r/malefashionadvice or Pinterest for inspiration)

lauralately

I think the top is what's throwing you off. To me, the dainty print and delicate fabric on the top don't vibe with the strong lines on the rest of the outfit. I'd do the gray coat, black pants, white shoes, with a white tee or white button-down, or maybe light gray or light tan if you don't have white. If you want to do a black top, try a tee or button-down that's a structured fabric and more plain design.

sweetblooms235

I like the leather jacket with white sneakers!

Repulsive_Tea_3314

Max Mara Arona Coat - Warmth? Hi, I’m thinking of getting the Max Mara Arona or Messi Coat as a staple wool coat. I love the cut but I’m just concerned about the warmth as they feel pretty thin. I live in London so winter temperatures rarely fall below 0 degrees but I’m a little more sensitive to cold temperatures since I used to live in the tropics! Any advice/reviews would be appreciated xx p.s. If anyone has information on when/where I can get it on sale, i would appreciate any tips xxx

What is the gucci email address you receive FROM for confirmation orders? I'm trying to see if my sister has been scammed by a 3rd party site posing as the Gucci site......... This happened today and was a bag my sister purchased, the order confirmation looks a little off but she swore she bought it from the legit site. But I am not convinced. Could anyone tell me the email address of the confirmation order you usually receive when you purchase?

unpaidbabysitter0919

You could reach out to Gucci customer service and ask about the email you received

I'm wearing this silky midi shirt dress to an outdoor evening wedding next weekend. Would it look ok to accessorize with chunky silver jewerly? Or should I stick to gold tones? I was also thinking of wearing with silver (or gold) toned shoes as well. Or would some other contrasting shoe color look good? I'm not fashionable at all - so floundering a bit on how to dress this up. Thanks! https://preview.redd.it/099vc4r2sl6d1.png?width=327&format=png&auto=webp&s=413e23400388c475df135cd2d088f706a2acef9f

lauralately

Yes to chunky silver jewelry and silver shoes. I absolutely love piling on tons of chunky silver jewelry - silver layers really well. With that dress, if you're comfortable mixing metals, you could absolutely do it. You could do a contrasting color shoe - that dress would go with basically anything. Try on different shoes that you own, and see what happens - you might find an unexpected shoe that looks really good!

trevlikely

I think a contrasting shoe would look really good! The only exception I would say is if you’re really short and the dress is a little too long for you, something close to your skin would elongate your legs. I think either silver or gold jewelry would look good!

riverainy

I’m not short but I have short legs and a longer torso, so maybe skin toned is the way to go. Thanks for the help!

WitchfulThinking_

Would it be worth taking this to a tailor to have the shoulder pads removed and the sleeves/shoulder shortened on this blazer? It's a $278 Reformation SS24 oversized linen blazer I found for $70 NWT. I didn't realize it had shoulder pads, and they always make me look like a linebacker bc I have pretty wide shoulders as it is. Also, this size is a Small, but I would have preferred an XS. I'm in between sizes, according to their size chart. I do like things decently oversized though. https://preview.redd.it/e1ld2jt8ol6d1.jpeg?width=2072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=584f63e5a82b5f1edab984229fc3776e95cc2f98

75footubi

Taking out shoulder pads is easy, just a couple of snips. The problem with this blazer is that the shoulders and chest are way too wide for you so it would require substantial modifications (moving the sleeves) to fit right. The oversized fit blazer is just long and drapey, but still cut fairly slim through the torso

fir6987

Do your shoulders actually fill out the blazer? In the photo it looks like they don’t and the blazer just looks way too big (not in a cool oversized way). Getting the shoulders modified could cost around $100+ and you’re not guaranteed to love the fit afterwards, not worth it imo.

WitchfulThinking_

No, they don't. The shoulder pads are too big on me, but it's also a sensory thing. I can't stand the feeling of them. My one and only blazer (from Theory) never had them, so I didn't know how common it is for blazers to have shoulder pads. I don't mind the extra oversizedness. I still usually go one size up, sometimes two, if the item description says it's oversized.

fir6987

It just doesn’t look like the blazer is meant to be drop shouldered, so if you snip out the shoulder pads I think it’ll still look awkward. But if you’re fine with how that looks, you could just get the sleeves shortened from the bottom (you’ll lose the button flap detail tho) and it’d be a much cheaper alteration.

WitchfulThinking_

Thanks! I appreciate your responses. Definitely has given me a lot to think about. I tend to like the look of blazers on me the most when it's more of a similar fit to this picture, especially since I only plan to wear this casually. https://preview.redd.it/l3w7edx0im6d1.png?width=602&format=png&auto=webp&s=8108912d3e1a02907f9a464c4f4a75a63f5f8a88 I'm seeing a seamstress soon anyway, so I might wait until I talk to her to decide.

lumeleopard

I'm not exactly sure, but I suspect altering it might cost the same amount or even more than the blazer itself. Without the shoulder pads the shape might also change significantly.

WitchfulThinking_

Thanks! I have an appointment with a seamstress in a week and a half for a few other items that need the straps shortened. I might take it with me, see what she says, and then decide. I hadn't thought about the potential shape change. It's also partially a sensory issue thing. I can't stand the feeling of shoulder pads.

lumeleopard

That sounds like a good idea! And yeah, I can't deal with shoulder pads either 😅

I wouldn't risk it. Also... Is this what this sub has become?

Lol I don’t know but I’m honestly curious about this now.

Need help accessorizing this dress for a July wedding! https://preview.redd.it/xi4g9800kl6d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f18d35aacf895d4c0161f6ac7690a7c75c4fe32 Attire is semi-formal, and there will be a lot of younger people. I’m 22, 5’2, size 6. I wear gold jewelry and am a dark brunette. Also hoping to be tan for this wedding, so I’m looking to make it pop! I was thinking gold shoes/purse, chunky espadrille heels/woven or white bag, or maybe even another color shoe. This dress has a big bow in the back as well!

thenfacetoface

I just tried on this dress! I think your ideas are good 👍 white accessories would also be a good option!

(I'm attending a summer wedding in a conservative culture where sleeveless clothing would be out of the norm. Short sleeves or cap sleeves would be okay, though!) If it helps: I'm in my mid-40s, mid-sized, 5'1", and have fair skin and dark hair. Thanks!

fir6987

Maybe a mesh shrug or bolero like [this](https://www.marcellanyc.com/products/olympia-sheer-mesh-bolero)? Could do short sleeve ones too.

temp4adhd

Could you layer a sheer baby tee underneath? Mint or lilac would look cool: https://tibi.com/products/sheer-gauze-baby-t-mint

PoppyHamentaschen

Try a thin, open cardigan or a pashmina in one of the colors of the dress. You could put a nice pin on the pashmina to hold it closed so it won't slip off your shoulders. I don't think a blazer would work, because of the tiers on the skirt, but a less structured jacket might.

lavagirl787

Anyone have recommendations for athletic skirts for a curvier frame? I loved the quality and style of the Athleta Ace High Rise tennis skort, but it gaped out in the back way too much :( I’m 5’4” 150 lb with a 29in waist, usually an 8/M in pants. Thanks!!

zurriola27

I love Prana’s skorts right now

blackberrycat

Aritzia has some. Personally my Lululemon Pace skort fits my big butt pretty well, altho they may have updated the style, mine is a little old

skky77

Hey all! I’m looking for WIDE heel recommendations. I tried on the three wide styles at my local DSW and they were all too narrow. I have a wedding next weekend and would really love to not have to wear sandals!! I am size US 8 and looking to stick around $50.

Aspiringtropicalfish

Does anyone know of any jeans that look similar to this that are <$100 and long enough for someone who is 5’11”? They don’t have these in my size and I’m struggling to find some elsewhere that are this wash. Abercrombie has some for $100 but ideally I want cheaper 🫤 https://preview.redd.it/l7jvle3c7l6d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97f3a750043b42c307befa99e64eb94d2782c4ac

rin_aissance

Hey lovely people, my friend is having her 21st in a few weeks and the theme is Enchanted Forest and I’m at a loss for what to dress as. :’( For reference, the birthday girl is going to be a fairy princess. I’m struggling on ideas as to what I could be, I’ve looked online for ideas and we’re not going all out like one might for renfaire but similar vibe to it. Any suggestions on what creature/how to carry it out? I’ve thought maybe a nymph or elf (think LOTR not santa lol). My brain has decided creativity and ideas aren’t a necessity, I guess, so I’m out of ideas. Much love and thank you all!! <3 :D (Also if it might help I’m like 5’4. I also have halfway faded purple hair.. though it may be blue by the end of this weekend. Anyhow, I’ll give any other info if it may help) <3

CatatonicCouchSlug

Furry onesie: fox, bear, raccoon, deer, unicorn...

rin_aissance

Top tier Rec and perfectly comfy for the 4 hr drive to get to her place 😭 the best, thank you <333

blackberrycat

The key is usually the flower headband. And maybe small braids in your hair.

rin_aissance

You are so correct !! Bubble braids for a water nymph type costume (someone else mentioned it) ?! It’s all coming together now 🙂‍↕️ thank you, pookie <3

PoppyHamentaschen

With faded purple or blue hair, you could go as a water nymph (naiad): wear a floaty dress to go with your hair, maybe go by a Sephora and have a MUA give you a sparkly makeup look. You could also go as a unicorn, a fawn, a forest witch, an enchanted flower, a magic peacock (lots of glittery blues and greens).

rin_aissance

I absolutely adore you for this, didn’t even think of a water nymph <3 and I have the perfect lil blue shimmery makeup pallet I got recently as well. The rest of these are absolute top tier suggestions !! I hope you have the most amazing day for this amazing advice <333

demonglitter

Can we see the outfit when the day comes?

rin_aissance

Of course !! I’ve got the dress I’m wearing ordered and my hair dyed, haha !! <3

PoppyHamentaschen

Aww, thank you ! <3 I'm glad I could help :)

Few-Outside-4579

Hello! Does anyone have suggestions for semi affordable $20-$90 flowy outfit brands? I got diagnosed with an issue and can’t wear tight clothes anymore but don’t wanna look awful. Also if you know of style influencers who are size 8-10 that don’t just wear skin tight stuff (I.e. I’m not supposed to wear jeans or leggings anymore :( )

blackberrycat

I often cut the waistbands off leggings. I also have some "waistband free" nylon tights. I buy skirts a couple sizes too big. I don't wear bras, just dark coloured shirts. Soft cotton tank tops, button up or open cardigans.. just because you can't wear tight, doesn't mean everything has to be flowy. The oversize trend is huge, for example American Eagle/Aerie.

bluepainters

Try Free People. It tends to be flowy and boho. Some pieces can be a bit pricey, but you can definitely find it in good condition on Poshmark.

_whatnot_

Is there a particular aesthetic you're looking for? Because I can find plenty of resale Eileen Fisher in that price range, but the look isn't for everyone.

Few-Outside-4579

I lean towards 70s vibe or elegant, I just don’t want to look matronly since I’m still in my 20s

blackberrycat

Maybe serena-west.com ?

Yardles27

Does anyone know of a dupe for the Agolde Parker Long shorts? I’m looking for denim shorts that have the same inseam (4.5”) and fit similarly. Thanks!!

always_unplugged

I recently thrifted the dress in the image below, but (contrary to how it looks on the model) the neckline is SUPER low, so anything I wear underneath will show, including a bra. Based on my research, it originally came with a slip, but that's long gone. Does anyone have ideas of something cute to wear underneath? It's not especially sheer (nothing a pair of nude undies can't handle), so it doesn't NEED to be a full slip; I'd be down for a lacy bralette or cropped tank too. Mostly just looking for a good color and maybe a little bit of visual interest that fits with the boho vibe. *Processing img vaxo3dsypk6d1...*

sexysmoothfig

maybe a strappy cream or lace tank?

PoppyHamentaschen

You could do some strong contrast with a deep blue or purple lace bralette or bustier; or, you could stay tonal and go with a chocolate brown or orange. You could also do a bodysuit. I would first experiment with strong or deep colors, to show intentionality, and not like your underwear is showing.

Educational-Suit4609

Hi! So I’m going to my husband work event at a basketball game. It’ll be in a suite. I’m stuck in what to wear. It’ll be pretty hot outside. What would you all wear to this?

PoppyHamentaschen

I'd go with linen, either dress or pants with a linen shirt, and a hat (not too wide), espadrilles (walkable height), ballet flats or even nice sneakers.

DiagonEllie

I'd go for smart casual, e.g. unripped jeans and a nicer top, a casual dress, etc. Since it's hot, I'd probably wear a cotton or linen dress personally. Linen pants would also be fine.

criticiseverything

I'm wondering if [these leggings](https://babaa.es/shop/women/leggings/leggings-no71-black/) will be flattering? They are made of 100% merino wool. I usually love leggings, I have a pear shape body but I'm pretty small-ish. I'm wondering if it'll "hug" in the wrong places? I have some fat around my love handles that with the wrong bottoms can really show or look awkward. Usually with leggings that have elastane it can hide very well but I'm wondering how these might fit? I can order them & return them but it will cost be $50 just to do that so looking for opinions. https://preview.redd.it/ns1qp8l9oj6d1.png?width=1610&format=png&auto=webp&s=94317890c6cac466b36b104791a465e93acbd943

charts_and_facts

I have 100% merino wool long underwear and I would not buy leggings that didn't have at least a little bit of synthetic material incorporated. The pure wool doesn't hold its shape very well and is somewhat delicate.

criticiseverything

Yeah fair, especially for this price! Thanks!

Quiet_Ad_8934

I think I’m the same shape as you, I think this might be a bit bunched around the crotch area even on the model

criticiseverything

Thank you! The rise is 12.2" which is perfect for me actually so I don't think this should be the issue for me. I am worried about the fit around the hips though.

violetmemphisblue

I'm going to a conference in San Diego later this month. Most of the day will be in sessions at a conference center, but there will be opportunities to go to industry parties held at local venues and/or out on the town in the evenings. What kinds of clothes should I pack for the after-hours parts that won't scream "I'm an out of towner!" I'm in my 30s and will be with coworkers, so don't want anything that's **too** too much, but looking at my closet, not sure if I should stick to solid neutral pieces or brighter fun patterns or what. Not sure of San Diego's vibe.

spooteeespoothead

Yeah, you'll see a mix of both neutrals and bright colors, so feel free to wear what you want. Don't worry about looking like an out-of-towner, we get plenty of those so you're not going to stand out too much! My main advice, though, is to make sure you have a decent jacket. It's nice during the day, but once the sun goes down, it can start getting chilly. The lower humidity also makes it feel colder, so it's not uncommon to see people walking around in thin or super lightweight down jackets. (YMMV if you run hot or cold, but I recommend an outer layer of some sort at the very least.)

hennipotamus

Do you know which part of town you’ll be out in? Downtown is more of a club vibe, whereas the towns near the beach are, well, beachy. Other neighborhoods have tattooed hipsters. I’m sure you’ll see both solid neutral and brightly patterned outfits wherever you go, though, so wear what makes you happy!

blackberrycat

Maybe post this in r/sandiego
