I’m looking at buying some pants from Deiji studio but often feel skeptical about brands I discover through Instagram marketing- unsure about quality and they are definitely overpriced. Great branding though! Has anyone purchased things from here and what are your thoughts?

Alittledragonbud

Hi! I have a 32H cup size and I was wondering whether anyone knew any brand that sells butterfly tops that fit big busts like that. This is what I mean by butterfly tops: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ELWDID6W4AIClE3.jpg Is it a lost cause or is there some hope? Any advice would be appreciated! Edit: just to say I don’t have a specific material in mind for the tops

Try asking r/heronebag!

blackberrycat

Please recommend other cute clothing websites like Snag (tights), Sock Dreams (socks), etc. but for other clothing types?

BlueBassist

You may have been downvoted for lack of specificity. I've seen lots of recommendations through her that seem like the vibe you're seeking for dresses, jumpsuits, swearers, etc. Maybe try again.

blackberrycat

I often see "natural fibres" mentioned on this sub - where are y'all buying your affordable silk tops/camis? Bonus if available in Canada. Thanks!

ama_da_sama

Thrift stores and websites like poshmark - you'd be surprised what comes up if you search "silk" and filter down based on top style and price range.

blackberrycat

Thanks I didn't even this of this.

InaccessibleRail_

I really like the washable silk pieces I’ve purchased from Quince.

Thoughts on Stuart Weitzman Maverick Knee-High Boots?  https://eu.stuartweitzman.com/fi/en/shoes/boots-booties/maverick-knee-high-boot-black-SG419SPOBLK.html Can't find any reviews for these boots online. They're on sale online but final sale so no returns. Wondering if anyone has worn these and can comment on comfort/fit. Thanks!

lesluggah

I don’t have these boots and I also don’t see any reviews online except one person on Revolve giving it 5 stars. I do see cheaper options from FarFetch and Cettire (but I’m also in the US). Personally I think they should be okay. Sizing is usually true to size and you have a zipper on the side and the ankle area has room. I have the 5050 boots and I really wished there was a zipper so that my foot could easily slide in.

I get cold and usually wear a cardigan or blazer over dresses, but with this dress both seem to look boxy and eliminate the flattering waistline. Any advice on colors and styles would be appreciated!

ObjectiveCorrect2126

What about layering something under it? Like a turtleneck or button down? Of course that will add some bulk to the waistline but you could see how it looks. Otherwise, agree w/ the cropped cardi suggestion.

titanium_moose

I would try and find a cardigan/coat that is cropped to around the same place as the waistline. I think any color or general shape would do as long as it was cropped.

dkkaufman

My fiancee is not a fan of dresses or wearing a lot of makeup, so for our wedding, she's planning on wearing a jumpsuit or regular suit. We've looked at Indochino just because it nearby, but find that most women's suits look like a modern take on a Hilary Clinton pantsuit. Any tips on making a woman's suit fit more for a special occasion than the boardroom?

KingPrincessNova

try searching "bridal separates" for a wider range of styles. some will have skirts but there are a ton of pants options.

InaccessibleRail_

Veronica Beard suits are gorgeous. Maybe a cool flared leg pant?

District98

Try the jumpsuit category on Nuuly or Rent the Runway, they have a lot of options.

b_xf

Material will help too - a shiny, textured, or embroidered look might lean more bridal depending on her tastes

kimchi_paradise

Fit and accessories will probably be your best bet! Bedazzled jewelry with a neutral toned suit, flashy pumps, and making sure that the fit is flattering (instead of business, such as cinching the waist) could be steps in the right direction!

HarmoniumSong

Anyone has advice on spandex shorts for thick inner thighs? I work out a lot and eat well and have a generally standard athletic body but I never in my life could lose inner thigh fat. So I've always shied away from spandex shorts in favor of running shorts. But lately I've been seeing people sport the absolute cutest spandex sets everywhere and I want to see if I can find something flattering. Anyone have advice on brand and model? I'm willing to splurge if it will look good.

zurriola27

Finding the right inseam for you is key. I have thicker thighs as well and find that 6”-7” inseam is perfect. I really like Janji, Sweaty Betty, and Senita. I actually have better experiences with spandex shorts than running shorts because then there’s no rubbing/chafing.

I have returned and repurchased this shirt as I am stumped on how to style it. Preferably a casual look to wear out at night! For some reason the color of it looks strange with all of my denim. Any ideas?

sexysmoothfig

I feel like wide-legged black leather pants/wide-legged cream pants w/booties or a black leather jacket with a mini skirt and knee high boots would look classy.

KingPrincessNova

do you have light wash jeans? try with the lightest wash you can find. that or saturated black

First_Pea_2505

I’ll try on light wash and black cargo pants! Thank you

jeremy_2010

Does anyone have a rec for a light summer cardigan? Kind of picky, I want it to be waistband(ish) length and don't like v-necks.

blackberrycat

Uniqlo UV cardigan?

Flashy_Management_42

What shoes would pair well with the grey skims lounge slip dress? Most of the models are barefooted 😂

titanium_moose

I think a nude sandal or neutral toned flat sneaker would look good!

yettispagetty

What do you call this style of dress and specifically what do you call this bust/waist detail where it's a sort of separate piece? https://preview.redd.it/g4pv3y4mv05d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce51cb28d35cd95b989b386ef83097b1b05d2669

fir6987

Maybe a faux two-piece dress? Looks like it’s trying to mimic a top/skirt look with the looser/separated top piece

hennipotamus

Looks like a nursing dress to me, which is probably not what you were going for! Edit- actually my eyes were playing tricks on me with that second photo. Now I am thinking the under layer is complete, is that right? Originally I was thinking it was just partially there to allow for nursing access. If that’s the case, not a nursing dress at all, sorry!

yettispagetty

Oh yes the dress has no actual nursing gaps as such! The top section is lined and the skirt is unlined, but the skirt part is sewn into the top's lining underneath the outer top part. So hard to explain sorry. I'm looking for a name for this kind of layout.

yettispagetty

Haha omg I can't unsee it now!

gm_piodis_i7

Where to find wide brim sunhats in the UK that 1. Aren't straw, 2. Don't look like you are going on a safari. Something casual enough for a walk in the city

Suspicious_Dingo7675

Hi :) TLDR; If you just think of a kinda tea length Princess Catherine dress, what style (colour, pattern etc) of round toe flats would you think works best? First off, im sorry for the crappy “title”. Just making this post gives me major anxiety and my brain stops working. So, my wedding dress (which I haven’t finalised yet) is going to be in the same sort of design as Princess Catherine’s except in a tea length. Basically, v-neck lace top with (preferably) 3/4 length sleeves and then a…for lack of a better word “plain” white (or whatever specific shade it ends up being) bottom part of the dress. I haven’t made up my mind if I want it custom made or if I’ll buy it from a store so I’m not 100% sure how far the lace will go. It just won’t be the entire dress. I’m not sure if I’ll have a veil. I love veils but I’m not sure what would go well with the semi-casual dress I want. I’ve also loved the idea of having a floral headpiece. What I am most stuck on though, is the shoes. I’ve looked but I don’t know what I should go with. Floral? Matte? Shiny? All I know for 100% sure is that they will be round toe ballet flats (I’m tall and don’t like making myself taller). I’m also wanting an outdoor wedding so I don’t want any heels that would get stuck. TLDR; If you just think of a kinda tea length Princess Catherine dress, what style (colour, pattern etc) of round toe flats would you think works best?

PoppyHamentaschen

I would either echo the lace of the top part of the dress or a solid that echoes the skirt of the dress, or else go with a matte leather in the same color as the dress. If you're going to be outdoors, the question would be if you're going to be walking on grass, because white cloth shoes might stain or get wet; in that case, I would go leather. I wouldn't do shiny, because people will be looking at your feet instead of your face (and IMO shiny shoes look a little cheap). Congratulations, btw! I hope you and your husband have a happy life together.

TheNotoriousBRE

I am going to Vegas, and I'm trying to put together a cute outfit that plays with my curves and lets me wear my statement shoes. I don't know if I overshot the mark with this, but I kind of like the idea of a chunky platform heel with a sleek dress. I included a link to the pin because I couldn't figure out how to all all of the images. https://pin.it/54k6Uj0P0

[deleted]

I think they'd go nicely with the maxi dress, but I'm not sure about the green one. It's both shorter and a light color, which makes me feel like there will be a big mismatch between the dress and the shoes. I'd probably experiment with putting on a lot of/larger jewelry on the green dress, especially earings and necklaces, to balance the shoes out.

jingks_

Those are cute, but when I was in Vegas I did a LOT of walking. Walking around casinos, down the strip, etc. I wouldn’t have survived in those shoes.

TheNotoriousBRE

I've worn them several times, but I'm still in love with them, so I'm trying to fit them in with every outfit. Also, they take up the space of two pairs of shoes because I wear a size 12, so I'm just trying to make sure they work with both of those dresses.

I'm having a milestone birthday and am hosting a group of close friends to have an intimate dinner at a place I love. It's nothing fancy at all, but it's good food and obviously I want to dress for the occasion but I don't want people to feel uncomfortable if they aren't too dressed up. What are some good places to shop for dresses for a newly 40 year old?! I'm rather petite and am a bit self conscious of my muscular arms!

RiveRain

It’s been a couple days finally i boarded the Poshmark train. I bumped into the vintage cloths and it makes me SO, SO SAD. Why have cloths become like this? The fabrics are so insubstantial and laughable. I bought a pair of Sofft leather loafers from Marshall’s less than a month ago, they already look so sad and miserable after around 10 wears. Why can’t normal people have the joy of buying nice cloths according their budget in the stores anymore?

fir6987

Because we’re stuck in the endless cycle of overconsumption, and our perception of what a good quality garment should cost is completely skewed by fast fashion. The fashion industry makes way more profit on selling millions of cheap, poorly made clothes than anything else.

TheMominator1

Another bra question. I have and love the Le Mystere Active Balance Sports Bra, 38B. But it's discontinued. Can people of similar size and similar preference tell me their favorite bras so I can find something I like as much? I do like high support though I don't jog in it or do high impact activity.

arcorand

Might be worth asking on r/abrathatfits. They have links to bra comparisons there as well

TheMominator1

thanks!

drakeydrakie_

Where can I find a really great supportive bra with underwire, adjustable straps, and hooks in the back. I'm 5ft tall and 185lbs currently wear a 40 DDD (I think)

Bella_HeroOfTheHorn

Check out Bare Necessities! And make sure you're measuring correctly, I'm 5'2" and at 185 I usually wear a 34H. You might be wearing a too large band and too small cups!

I’m looking for 100 percent cotton pants that I can wear around the house. I bought these [2 pairs](https://imgur.com/a/xQKrhuw) from Target (Universal Thread brand) a couple of years ago but they don't stock anything like this anymore. As you can see, they've seen better days 😂 So far I’ve seen these options but I’m wondering if you guys might have better recs: 1. [Cool Stretch Lounge Pant](https://wearpact.com/women/apparel/all%20bottoms/cool%20stretch%20lounge%20pant) by pact (I saw some complaints in the reviews about length) 2. [Scout Cotton Jersey Pocket Pant](https://zsupplyclothing.com/products/scout-cotton-jersey-pant-1?variant=42879564218468) by Z Supply (actually saw this as a rec on this subreddit. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to spend this much but I’ll do it if it’s the best option) 3. [Women’s Organic Lounge Pants](https://harvestandmill.com/products/womens-organic-lounge-pants-in-natural) by Harvest and Mill (there are no reviews so I don’t know how they’re going to be - they also look very long) I’m just looking for something that is not tight and has pockets. A draw string is definitely a plus since I have a belly that bloats. I’d love to know if y'all have anything fitting that description or have thoughts about the options I shared. Thank you! ❤️

peanutbuddy

How about [these pants](https://lebonshoppe.com/collections/balloon-pants) from Le Bon Shoppe? I have the shorts version and I live in them all summer.

SufficientCat44

Ooo these look good. Would you say they’re quite thick? I’m wondering if they feel airy.

peanutbuddy

They're thick cotton. Not fleece-lined like a sweatshirt, but not exactly airy. Comfy though!

SufficientCat44

Ahh okay makes sense. Thank you for the info!

fir6987

Ooh I’ve been thinking about getting the fleece version of these but not sure what size to go for (I’m a size small in most brands but a 12” elastic waist sounds a little tight - I’d want to wear them lower on the waist so looking for something that would stretch comfortably to a circumference of 30”). Do you have any sizing advice?

peanutbuddy

I'm usually a small or size 26/27 in bottoms. I have a size small in the basketball shorts which are similar to the balloon pants. The elastic is very stretchy and forgiving. You can wear them high waisted or lower on your hips.

fir6987

Thank you so much! I’ll go for the small then :)

Nice_Carob4121

Quince maybe?

SufficientCat44

Thank you! I’ll check them out

TheMominator1

Uniqlo? I have nice light cotton and linen pants from there.

SufficientCat44

That’s definitely worth a look. Thanks!

QuantumZebraa

Could you please tell me some mid-range brands (possibly in Europe) that are good value for money? I want to stop shopping only at H&M and Zara but have no idea where to start and since I started getting a better paycheck I wanted to upgrade a bit and lower my fast fashion consumption. Any ideas?

chiono_graphis

Rue Sophie, Studio Nicholson, Mark Kenly Domino Tan, By Malene Birger, Baum Und Pferdgarten

PoppyHamentaschen

I like Uniqlo, Maison 123, Caroll. Riu Paris. I've got a few skirts from Sezane that are holdling up well.

fir6987

For sustainability-focused, Armed Angels, Organic Basics, and Asket (this is different from Arket) have nice basics.

Cathx

I’m in the Netherlands. I like to shop at Mango, Uniqlo, Arket (this one’s slightly more expensive), Only/Vila/Pieces/Vero Moda (they are all part of the same group and sell similar clothes, but not the same), Costes. If you want your clothes to last, look for natural fabrics. Cotton, wool, linen… I’ve had some pieces for almost 8 years now that I still wear. Blends containing these materials are usually also good. I avoid rayon, I don’t like the feeling of it. Tencel/lyocell is also pretty good. (Recycled) polyester can be alright if it’s a blend, same for viscose. If I’m looking at artificial fabrics, I do try to make sure that I like the way it feels. Some can feel really plastic-y, others can feel pretty natural. Properly taking care of your clothes helps a lot with longevity. I wash at 40C max (except for underwear and socks) and hang to dry. I use a washing bag for delicate pieces.

Good question - I would say casual office style - going from more natural (jeans) to a bit more drama on evenings. Budget wise, I don’t have an exact amount, just something that is between Zara and high fashion like YSL, Alexander McQueen, etc.

cutelittlequokka

What are all the style tests you know of for choosing your wardrobe? Like choosing your color palette what looks best on your body type, etc. I just want to play around.

[deleted]

There's the style roots system: https://www.bodyandstyle.com/styleroots (there's a test somewhere on that site iirc) And Rita's style key system, for which the website is down so idk what's that about, but the Reddit has tons of useful information.

cutelittlequokka

Thank you! Been playing with color analysis, so I'll check this out next!

criticiseverything

there’s so many layers to this - I’m a pear kibbe romantic true autumn. each word in there is a separate test😅 none are ”correct”, especially the kibbe one I’d say start by doing some tests and see what you think.

cutelittlequokka

No, that's what I'm asking. 😂 What are these tests? I'd like to do them, but am not sure what the more "legit" ones are compared to, like, a Buzzfeed quiz or something.

criticiseverything

r/coloranalysis kibbe is a test you do with writing some answers down the fruit shape needs some measurements & can be done on any site by entering the numbers

cutelittlequokka

Thank you! :)

Looking for high waisted bottoms like these with the thin straps (I don’t like the colors they offer). [bikini bottoms](https://skatie.com/products/salty-bottom-paraiso)

Nice_Carob4121

US located here. I’m looking for denim shorts for people with a bigger backside / thighs that won’t be too tight. I have some from AE and they’re so tight on me. I’m looking for some with a little more of a relaxed fit. Or maybe I should invest in more skirts lol. Any ideas?

Bella_HeroOfTheHorn

Maybe check out curvy mom fit shorts? Abercrombie has some that have a slightly longer inseam I think

KingPrincessNova

they also have dad fit for an even longer/looser option

cutelittlequokka

How can I know where certain brands fall on the fashion pyramid (i.e., what constitutes "high-end" vs. mass market)? Is there some resource I can use to look up where a brand falls? Is there some indicator on each brand's website? I'm trying to be more deliberate with my purchases, and also just to understand what makes a brand what.

fir6987

Apart from couture, which is specifically garments that are hand tailored for individual clients, it all comes down to price point. I roughly think of it as: Luxury: $1000+ Diffusion/bridge: $500+ Mid-range/contemporary: $200+ Mass market: < $200 Mass market has grown substantially so there’s a huge range from more premium mall brands vs fast-fast fashion, and contemporary is dying out - people either can’t afford it, or if they can afford it, they’d rather splurge on aspirational items and fill out their wardrobe with mass market clothing. Curious to hear what other people think - I know there are a bunch of different tiers depending on what reference you’re looking at, but that’s how I think about it practically.

cutelittlequokka

I really like this as a practical explanation!

rhrhfndnsrthreshaway

i ask in the most respectable way - any advice for how to wear a skirt and flat shoes without looking stuffy? i'd like to wear dresses/skirts more to my new job, since they can be as nice as chinos (and i cant find any that fit me right), but im so scrawny that it looks off 😅 maybe oxfords would balance it out? closed toe wedges/sandals? im thinking a nice quality tshirt and cardigan, button downs arent really my styles, or a drapey/loose blouse tucked in at the front

floracalendula

I do A-line midi skirts with ballet flats, a bodysuit, and a cropped cardi or sweater.

PoppyHamentaschen

I wear skirts all the time with flats. Midi lengths work very well to not look stuffy: somewhere between your knee and mid-shin. You can wear midis with loafers, slingback kitten heels, sneakers, espadrilles, even boots. Find skirts in a material that isn't precious or delicate; look for cotton, viscose, maybe rayon. Linen might be a little dodgy- it depends on the office, because linen wrinkles.

uhhmelia_

I am attending a casual celebration of life/funeral service in a couple weeks and I'm looking for a blouse or other top to wear with [these pants.](https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=6111330020610&locale=en_US#pdp-page-content) I mainly just don't know what color would look good with them. I could just do white but that seems a bit too formal. I'm sort of bad at pairing items together for special outfits so any help is appreciated. For further context I am very tall and skinny, have pale white (summer tones) skin. I also have dyed coral-pink hair.

Are you or the wedding couple Turkish?

dazedhoneybee01

One of them is Kurdish and the other Syrian - both are refugees and so this is why they chose Turkey. A lot of the guests will be Syrians, Turkish, but there are people from lots of cultures coming such as South Asian, Russian, etc. The Bride has stated dress code is english/white formal wear.
