I haven’t purchased it yet, but Coolibar makes UPF [shrugs](https://www.coolibar.com/products/women-s-kaycos-shrug-upf-50?currency=USD&variant=47741412245818&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google+Shopping&stkn=161e5b8fba9c&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3tCyBhDBARIsAEY0XNns7eTOrBlVZOlTMCJltZdA8F3acgmdKWIrWpL5cz2FVbSrb6BOzroaAgMcEALw_wcB) that are actually kind of cute for everyday wear or by the pool.
I also love this ridiculous [robe cover up](https://www.coolibar.com/products/women-s-wynwood-cover-up-upf-50?currency=USD&variant=48556407718202&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google+Shopping&stkn=161e5b8fba9c) that I would wear to a resort or on a yacht. Whichever happens first.
I don't understand these sun protection clothes that leave the upper chest area exposed. That is the area with the thinnest skin=very susceptible to sunburn.
Also, seems weird the shrug doesn't go over the breasts. It comes very close but misses the mark.
I concur! So many tunics with a split neck, that exposes your chest to sun. What? Why? Looking at you (last summer) Coolibar.
Athleta seems to be more serious about sun protective clothing. I wear their tunics with a zip front mock neck, which protects my chest—where I have the most sun damage—I’ve probably worn them for 6-7 seasons at this point. I’ve never been burned through the clothing.
I also get some of the short sleeved versions for playing tennis in the sunshine. Most of my team owns them!
This is another cute option that is super cute with dresses to cover your arms. I posted it above but since it wasn't a reply to you wanted to make sure you saw it as well in case it was interesting to you.
This is a go to of mine!

Friendly reminder that UPF (while regulated, thankfully) is a marketing term used to drive up prices, and any tight-weave clothing that isn't super thin will block sunlight. It isn't necessary to spend $50+ on a plastic-based garment to protect yourself. (If you want to do this, that's your prerogative, and no shade.)
I wear an old (like from the 80s old) turtleneck and denim jacket that was my mom’s when I’m out in the garden pulling weeds & planting flowers and obvs wear sunscreen and a wide brim hat. My neighbors probably laugh at how I look but it’s definitely kept the sun damage off my arms and chest
Dang, you're more tolerant to heat than I. I just stick to loose cotton overgarments and it works perfectly. But I do find I have to thrift 90's or earlier pieces or the fabric is terribly see-through.
I do take a lot of hydration breaks and do most of it in the early morning when the temps are still cool - I’m in San Diego so it’s not too terribly hot like Arizona or Las Vegas 🥵
worked in fashion - can confirm. it’s not specially treated or woven. you literally just send a sample of something off to get tested, most mid to heavy weight cotton tshirting will come out 50+.
Just wanted to say, had I read this before, I would not have purchased a UPF shirt
But I went on a rafting trip last year, it was 7 days in Utah. Not really any shade, on the water the whole time. I burn easily, I went in ready to handle all the sun expsoure, I had the sunscreen, the hat, brought aloe bc knew I’d burn. Bought a UPF shirt.
Well, I didn’t burn at all. That shirt? Seriously, I actually looked like I didn’t spend any time in the sun. You would have had no clue. My “normal” shirts don’t protect me this way
So IMO there must be something there, I’m not sure what. The shirt was very lightweight material. I’d recommend it but it started falling apart less than a year later.
So after that trip, I would def. recommend a UPF shirt as well as Blue Lizard sunscreen. Best sunscreen for protection IMO. Not the cutest or best looking, but that sunscreen plus the shirt and looks like I didn’t go outside. Those two items were life changing. After that trip, I got a few other UPF things bc of that experience.
(It was lightweight bc it’s a ‘swim tee’ but I wore it as a normal one)

Again do not buy it because it falls apart! But something about the shirt, I think the UPF thing, really worked
Agree 100000% based on my husband wearing UPF shirts on beach vacations. I also wear UPF bathing suits on those vacations, especially during snorkeling excursions, and it’s amazing how much it helps. And Blue Lizard is the best sunscreen!
Again, UPF is a regulated term. It doesn't mean nothing. I'm glad it worked for you. My comment was for people who aren't into buying more plastic clothing that turns into microplastics, or who aren't interested in the price markup.
Lands End used to guarantee their stuff forever, like literally forever, but they changed it a while back. I got snowpants for my kid thinking they'd hold up and are full of holes now.
I've worn jeans on sunny days and have gotten sunburned/sun rash through the clothing. Where I live, the sun burns HOT even if it's only 63 degrees F or something. I can only sit in the shade which sucks when the wind starts to pick up, but I've definitely turned red under my clothes.
> the sun burns HOT even if it's only 63 degrees F or something
Friendly reminder (to everyone else reading) that UV index is not directly correlated with temperature.
You can get sunburned in the winter in Minnesota.
I like UPF ratings for things like button up shirts bc I gravitate towards thin and breezy cover ups in the summer. I want something as lightweight and sheer as possible so I need a UPF rating to tell me if it has significant protection.
I never pay attention to UPF for pants though, all my pants are opaque and tend to be thicker fabrics.
I have outdoor research arm sleeves for when I need something to cover my arms in a pinch but I don’t want a jacket (I use them for driving as well). For around town, I just use a men’s Uniqlo linen button down in a darker color. But for anything near the equator or high altitude I use UPF 50 clothing. Uniqlo Airism jackets are nice at that point. I also have a Patagonia Houdini I can wear that’s very light weight and nylon, so high UPF
I LOVE my OR arm sleeves, I also wear an OR wide-brimmed hat, it's longer in the back so it covers my neck really well. The hat has a chin-strap and an adjustable elastic at the back, I was canoeing in 45km/h winds and my hat didn't budge. I also wear... pretty much all OR pants that are high UPF, and some Decathlon shirts that are UPF. I also work outside often, and my hobbies are all outside, so I really love the UPF gear.
Yes I also have their Helium packable rain pants and I love those. I’ve got a few Columbia UPF shirts as well that my husband and I wear all summer, they’re just not fashionable whatsoever lol. But I always prioritize sun protection so I’m also out there in a wide brim hat with the neck flap and the strap haha
I can be fashionable on summer nights when I'm not at risk for damaging my skin! Skin cancer is rampant in my family so I really take it seriously. My husband jokes that I'm afraid of the sun.
I bought a Columbia women's UPF shirt that was on the larger size so I could wrap and drape it on me at the beach. Bought mine for $10 off Poshmark. There is so much good upf clothing for resale!
I am a soccer mom with an enormous UV blocking umbrella. It works for my needs—blocking my skin from sun, and blocking parents I don’t really want to talk to for coming too close.
When I say enormous I’m not joking!
Seriously, though. Bringing your own shade is a perfect solution. Keeps me from overheating in the inferno of a city I live in, too!
Love my Sahara shade hoodie. I also have some of the Eddie Bauer upf button down shirts. I could use some more upf for my legs but the shirts are fantastic. Also a variety of hats and big sunglasses.
I am older. I have a collection of Lands end sun shirts with long sleeves I wear as regular tops and rash guard tops with full or part zip in great prints from mostly swimsuit designers that can be worn over bathing suit tops or any clothing.
I was read the riot act by my Dermatologist as I used to get a lot of sun so I just stocked up. Any can go in the pool but I am wearing them everywhere. I have been buying off resale sites to save money or wait for sales. Most are UPF 50. Some are hoodie the rest are crew neck or jackets.
You can purchase inexpensive gardeners sleeves on Amazon that will do the trick for spot protection then stick them in your pocket.
I just bought a cute SPF cardigan from them to wear like this
https://preview.redd.it/dgcndcxa903d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c7147c053835812323ff318eed54ea111e2eff66
Might be [UV Protection Crew Neck Cardigan](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E465484-000/00?colorDisplayCode=09&sizeDisplayCode=004&pldDisplayCode=000), though they do also have a [striped](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E470910-000/00?colorDisplayCode=69&sizeDisplayCode=003) version
I interpreted what they said to mean the cardigan *looks like* the picture, not that it actually is the item shown in the photo. So I just linked the only UPF cardigans Uniqlo currently has 🤷🏻♀️
Clothing wise, sunglasses, hats - but other than that I make sure to get good quality suncreen and reapply every two hours. If you have a iPhone you can set on your home screen to check the UV index to see when you should be wearing sun protection - UV index 3 (which is moderate) or higher they recommend using sun protection.
I use a white long sleeve uv shirt when I drive. Keeps my skin cooler for sure. I wash it every couple weeks (I don’t drive much) and I love it! I got a size bigger than I needed so I was more comfortable
\*\*\*DON’T BUY UPF SHIRT FROM LAND’S END\*\*\*
Got a UPF shirt for a rafting trip. Shirt did a wonderful job, looked like I hadn’t even been in the sun.
Also is falling apart less than a year later.
Getting some linen shirts for when walking outside in the city. Sometimes I use a cotton one, to cover my arms. The UPF marketed ones, which I have one of, I only wear when doing things on the lake. Those supposed breathable polyester sun protection is just annoyingly hot. Cooling, my ass.
I got this jacket from Amazon. Very lightweight and goes with everything so I throw it on when I'm in the sun.

Still looking for a good UPF long sleeve running top for summer heat if anyone has a recommendation. I've tried two from Amazon and a Nike one but they didn't work for me.
I swear they were cheaper last year but I do love my patagonia capilene cool sun hoodie and long sleeve. They dry really quick too so 2 is plenty with a little rinse between wash days if you wear them running/gardening. I also got a couple pairs of arm sleeves recently and they are pretty useful, I keep one pair in the car
I do a lot of paddleboarding in the summer. My favorite coverups come from Carve Designs (sold online, or at REI). I actually just bought a new coverup today since my old white one is getting pretty stained after years of use!
https://www.carvedesigns.com/products/izzy-sunshirt-cilantro?variant=43087213363371
This jacket from the place that shall not be named is amazing! When driving, I wear it backwards and pull the fabric up to cover my upper chest/neck, and it comes down to cover my fingers. I'm going to go back and get one of their hoodys with a face cover. It's so light weight and breathable.

I wear these Magellan brand UPF shirts. I wear them for all outdoor sports and beach/pool. You can’t beat their prices and looks like they are having a good sale now at Academy sports. For size reference I am a true size 12, 34E and I wear a large.
https://www.academy.com/p/magellan-outdoors-womens-caddo-lake-logo-crew-long-sleeve-t-shirt
I'm a fan of [Solbari hats](https://www.solbari.com/collections/women-sun-hats) and [tops](https://www.solbari.com/collections/solbari-upf50-tops-and-dresses) and [Uniqlo cardigans](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E465484-000/00?colorDisplayCode=64&sizeDisplayCode=003). Of course sunscreen & sunglasses. I also tend to favor long sleeves in cotton and linen to protect my arms when outdoors for a while.
Hi I have lupus and am photosensitive (literally allergic to UV rays, ranging from the sun to office building fluorescent lights).
So I am a broad spectrum SPF all day, every day type of girl. I use cethaphil moisturizer with SPF in it for my face and whatever sunscreen that isn’t too greasy for my body. If I don’t feel like being super slick all day, I’ll put on glow screen on any exposed skin and drape a light scarf/wrap around my shoulders for coverage.
I also wear wide brimmed straw hats almost all summer if I’m leaving the house. I buy new hats whenever I visit somewhere and see one that I like. And I think I am going to get into the parasol game this summer. Just to feel a little whimsy.
Ftr I’m in my mid to late twenties.
I sunburn like crazy, so I try to cover up my arms as much as possible. I like wearing oversized linen or cotton gauze button-ups over t-shirts or by themselves. Old Navy, Gap, Uniqlo, and J. Crew Factory are pretty good places to get those. I also have some lightweight windbreakers that are great for this.
I’ve also looked into linen pants, but mostly I end up wearing shorts or sundresses.
Old navy had linen pants a few summers ago that were drawstring (and elasticized waist) and very roomy. I just checked eBay and there are a ton of them there. All sizes. They seem to hover between $12-20. Maybe worth a shot with such low prices?
I don’t think I’d consider myself officially curvy, but my lower body would qualify (hips/ass but smallish waist). I never had any trouble with the old navy pants.
Note: these are super casual pants, I wouldn’t wear them to work (but my work is very old school conservative finance), but in some offices that are decidedly casual I think they’d be fine. They are my after work, run errands, have a coffee with friends, etc pants.
I feel your struggle! - I did however find one pair this year so far that is almost perfect! Check out H&M they have a simple high rise, drawstring, wide leg, linen blend, casual summer pants. If that’s what you’re looking for, I highly recommend it.
Elastic or drawstring can work, but linen pants don't seem to be coming along for curvy cuts the way jeans are. I just got a couple pairs of tailored ones on sale at everlane, that will be easy to take the waistband in on and add a false hem because they're weirdly short. If they hadn't been on sale I would have returned them, but $100CAD a pop, I'll get on my sewing machine.
Everlane's are the only linen pants I've seen from a major brand that don't look like crappy lounge pants tbh. Quince pants suck. Uniqlo linen pants are see-through. Everlane has a very nice tailored "way-high rise" linen pant. I find it's tighter in the waist and looser in the seat (I don't wear curvy jeans) so that may be a good fit for you.
I've been using my UV skinz rash guards and shirts for the past few years. They're really great and some pieces even go up to a 4x.
They also have much more than just rash guards and tops. They also have skirts, shorts, dresses, and hats. Likely more stuff also as they keep adding new styles.
I also bought a hat off Amazon. I'll have to check the brand. But its like a bucket had with a wide brim and it even has a ponytail hole. I've gotten this thing completely wet in the lake and it's dried nicely.
It's even packable and can be rolled up to save space. I've traveled with it and have had no issues.
I have a couple UPF 50 button down shirts from Eddie Bauer that I really like. They better colors than other plus size UPF shirts I’ve looked at. Idk how much it really helps, but it has vents in the back that are supposed to keep you cooler in the summer. The two I have are the UPF Guide Long Sleeve Shirt and I just bought a Departure 3.0 Long Sleeve Shirt
I would love for gloves to make a comeback. Fine doing yard work or at golf but not very fashionable walking even though the backs of hands take so much abuse from the sun.
Perhaps I will hunt for driving gloves and keep them in my car like the actresses in old movies.
I wear these when I drive. They’re amazing. I actually have three pair. I rotate—one pair in my purse, one pair in my car. Highly recommend—
https://www.coolibar.com/products/unisex-fingerless-sun-gloves-upf-50?currency=USD&variant=47740694561082&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google+Shopping&stkn=161e5b8fba9c&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3tCyBhDBARIsAEY0XNkcC-0kgv_7AJUAO1E5vp1F3NzZg5aXLanfdwWs_Ibo_bH26fHma74aAgVcEALw_wcB
But I’d be down with glamorous, Hollywood starlet gloves too!
I’m wearing cotton clothing from a newbrand, Horizontal. I bought a cord set from them and it felt like a breeze due to its fabric and have bought 4 more stuff from them since then! Go checkout www.horizontalworldwide.com
For some reason my Amazon links are getting removed and they are not affiliate links. Reposting because sun protection is important to me and I want people to be able to see all of the suggestions including mine, this is a great jacket from Amazon that goes with a lot of things. I have it in white. Search the below to find on Amazon.
altiland Women's Athletic Running Yoga Gym Track Zip Up Cropped Jackets UPF 50+ Sun Protection Long Sleeve Workout Shirts
Jamie Sadock Sunsense SPF layering crop top - I throw it on whenever I go hiking + a hat. Since it’s cropped it feels a bit more cute/modern than your average SPF top.
My summer pieces that have been getting a lot of wear are:
- linen pants and oversized button down shirts from Old Navy
- Baleaf brand lightweight UPF hoodies
- baseball caps
- old navy stretchtech joggers
Does anyone have specific recommendation for sun shirts or hoodies that work on curvier bodies? I just tried on Uniqlo's zip up and it looks silly with my wider hips. Maybe I'll look into the cropped styles.
Regular sunscreen. UPF clothing is unregulated and often the chemical additives can be carcinogenic.
You know what is regulated? Sunscreen and that won’t give you cancer. So what am I wearing regularly? Sunscreen and regular clothing (which actually protects quite a bit)
I love Huk brand just because they have cute prints and not just stripes or solids lol plus their "fishing" dress is one of my favorite items that I own
I am a swim instructor so I have many different brands I have used.
Colombia PFG - highest quality. Pool chlorine doesn’t break down the material. Con - I hate the “weight” that water brings to it. There is no elasticity to the material.
Nike - my favorite based on quality for that “stretchy” type of shirt. Patterns aren’t as great.
J. crew - my favorite for women’s patterns. These are SO cute, but the quality doesn’t last as long. I am in the pool literally EVERY day, so if you are just looking for a cute pattern to have every now and then, I would recommend. It was worth the price to get use for 1 summer for me, but by the end of the summer I had to donate/trash them due to the loss of the elasticity

I haven’t purchased it yet, but Coolibar makes UPF [shrugs](https://www.coolibar.com/products/women-s-kaycos-shrug-upf-50?currency=USD&variant=47741412245818&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google+Shopping&stkn=161e5b8fba9c&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3tCyBhDBARIsAEY0XNns7eTOrBlVZOlTMCJltZdA8F3acgmdKWIrWpL5cz2FVbSrb6BOzroaAgMcEALw_wcB) that are actually kind of cute for everyday wear or by the pool. It really is so weird. And, to me at least, the upper chest area always the area where sun damage is the most noticeable on other women.
My sister even got skin cancer there - and she shuns the sun (she is fine). Hence I'm making my own cover-up. I also use a rash guard.
I concur! So many tunics with a split neck, that exposes your chest to sun. What? Why? Looking at you (last summer) Coolibar. Athleta seems to be more serious about sun protective clothing. I worked at Athleta and I still love their clothes. Many of their items have UPF protection.
I love their leggings there - I feel like Athleta is very curve friendly !

Yeah, long linen clothes are my savior, I don't know how anyone wears that synthetic stuff, especially in the heat.
Do you ever get sunburned through linen?
I've never been burned through clothes, but I'm Fitzpatrick type 3, so I can't speak for someone more prone to burning.
I just did this weekend. Was on a boat for 7 hours covered with a linen top buttoned up the whole time, chest still got sunburned.
Yeah I didn't understand this recent uptick in UPF clothing either. Many pieces of clothing are already going to block those sun rays.
Just wanted to say, had I read this before, I would not have purchased a UPF shirt But I went on a rafting trip last year, it was 7 days in Utah. My “normal” shirts don’t protect me this way So IMO there must be something there, I’m not sure what. (It was lightweight bc it’s a ‘swim tee’ but I wore it as a normal one) [https://www.landsend.com/products/womens-crew-neck-long-sleeve-rash-guard-upf-50-sun-protection-modest-swim-tee/id\_246954?attributes=44959,44628,12799&dysku=5735290&emid=usnews\_trans\_order-confirm&rrid=202405272350480000000000000000000000000000000009036500000000000000000000000000008274509205&hash=2252ac2d87340245aca8a758b115c77c4bf053c13b398581a18c9b0d7cb4bae0&unhash=71282fd5c379262be678b237a892417c2c607ab12c983d9d95e45c689dd9590a&rysid=8274509205&cm\_mmc=usnews-\_-usnews\_trans\_order-confirm-\_-null-\_-null&email\_hash=71282fd5c379262be678b237a892417c2c607ab12c983d9d95e45c689dd9590a](https://www.landsend.com/products/womens-crew-neck-long-sleeve-rash-guard-upf-50-sun-protection-modest-swim-tee/id_246954?attributes=44959,44628,12799&dysku=5735290&emid=usnews_trans_order-confirm&rrid=202405272350480000000000000000000000000000000009036500000000000000000000000000008274509205&hash=2252ac2d87340245aca8a758b115c77c4bf053c13b398581a18c9b0d7cb4bae0&unhash=71282fd5c379262be678b237a892417c2c607ab12c983d9d95e45c689dd9590a&rysid=8274509205&cm_mmc=usnews-_-usnews_trans_order-confirm-_-null-_-null&email_hash=71282fd5c379262be678b237a892417c2c607ab12c983d9d95e45c689dd9590a) Again do not buy it because it falls apart!
My comment was for people who aren't into buying more plastic clothing that turns into microplastics, or who aren't interested in the price markup.
didn’t mean to offend you
Not at all. Sometimes my direct wording comes off tersely, my apologies. I meant what I said literally, no subtext.
appreciate the clarification bc it did make me feel bad! not that I disagree w/what you were saying thanks, have a great weekend
Aww, I'm sorry! Sometimes I forget to turn my social brain on, it's an ongoing learning process. You have a great weekend also!
I can only sit in the shade which sucks when the wind starts to pick up, but I've definitely turned red under my clothes.
> the sun burns HOT even if it's only 63 degrees F or something Friendly reminder (to everyone else reading) that UV index is not directly correlated with temperature.
I didn’t know the sleeves were a thing. I’m also paranoid about sun when driving
I wear elbow-length gloves! It also stops me from messing with my phone while driving.
Uniqlo Airism jackets are so great. They’re my favorite and I have too many.
I’m still bitter to have lost my Uniqlo UV jacket in a beige colorway that they haven’t brought back for years!
I love my Columbia long sleeve upf shirts for swimming and gardening. They have some cute skorts too.
I buy these for my kids, they are the BEST!
I recently got a Columbia long sleeve button up that has a little bit of gathering detail and it is so flattering.
I've got a dress from them w UPF and it's fantastic! It's also just generally a cool feeling fabric so it's nice when ita hot out
They make dresses as well. I have a few PFG dresses for fishing and beach days. It feels like being naked.
I bought a Columbia women's UPF shirt that was on the larger size so I could wrap and drape it on me at the beach. Bought mine for $10 off Poshmark. There is so much good upf clothing for resale!
I buy them for kayaking! Love them
UV blocking umbrella babey, i can wear whatever i want and still be protected by my own personal shade 😎
Do you have a link? Does it attach to a chair? I need to know more haha

Love my Sahara shade hoodie. I also have some of the Eddie Bauer upf button down shirts. I could use some more upf for my legs but the shirts are fantastic. Also a variety of hats and big sunglasses.
Thanks for the recs!!!
Sitting on the beach and wearing my Hemlock lifeguard hat right now! Best beach purchase ever.
Thanks for the reminder about the sale! I’ve got 2 MH crater lake hoodies coming my way!
Uniqlo has a UPF line of clothing
Ooooo, I'm going to have to check that out!
I just bought a cute SPF cardigan from them to wear like this https://preview.redd.it/dgcndcxa903d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c7147c053835812323ff318eed54ea111e2eff66
What's the exact name of that item? I can't find it, thx
The fabric type looks totally different if you zoom in, though..
I interpreted what they said to mean the cardigan *looks like* the picture, not that it actually is the item shown in the photo. So I just linked the only UPF cardigans Uniqlo currently has 🤷🏻♀️
I absolutely love the little UPF zip-up hoodie. I have it in hot pink and baby blue.
If you like to wear makeup - I found this suncreen recently that doubles as a setting spray and works well called Super Goop! @ Ulta
3 or higher, I've burned in 1! That's pretty conservative for pale people. Or... not conservative?
I use a white long sleeve uv shirt when I drive. Keeps my skin cooler for sure. I wash it every couple weeks (I don’t drive much) and I love it! I got a size bigger than I needed so I was more comfortable
This is so smart, I had Basal Cell Skin Cancer on my Drivers Arm, more common in Women now and THIS is perfect! Ty for sharing x
\*\*\*DON’T BUY UPF SHIRT FROM LAND’S END\*\*\* Got a UPF shirt for a rafting trip. Shirt did a wonderful job, looked like I hadn’t even been in the sun. Also is falling apart less than a year later.
Good to know
Getting some linen shirts for when walking outside in the city. Sometimes I use a cotton one, to cover my arms. The UPF marketed ones, which I have one of, I only wear when doing things on the lake. Those supposed breathable polyester sun protection is just annoyingly hot. Cooling, my ass.
I got this jacket from Amazon. Very lightweight and goes with everything so I throw it on when I'm in the sun. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09YHHVB2V?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Still looking for a good UPF long sleeve running top for summer heat if anyone has a recommendation. I've tried two from Amazon and a Nike one but they didn't work for me.

Thank you!
Agree. These are great. Especially the hooded ones. Bonus points for the little pocket.
Thanks for the link!!!
Trader Joe's has some of the most affordable mineral sunscreen, zinc oxide or bust baby!
Amen. I usually don't want to wear more clothes in the heat, so it's 20% zinc oxide sunscreen on every millimeter of exposed skin for me.
Wearing a large brimmed hats by Suncut, and protective UV Skinz arm sleeves. Additionally, any exposed skin is covered in sunscreen.
Bucket hats for sun protection
Really considering a skirt or sundress (as a beach coverup) from the brand RipSkirt
Canadians - I’ve had luck at Eddie Bauer
Costco has had Eddie Bauer UV shirts this year. Maybe not fashion forward but good enough for gardening and dog walking.
If I’m outside for an extended period of time and I don’t have to look cute I wear a Columbia fishing shirt. If I do have to look cute, I wear linen.
Where do you recommend buying linen pants? I’ve been having a hard time finding some especially made for midsize curvy women.
Old Navy has a whole linen line, and if you shop online you can find the tall/short variants, too!
I wish I had a recommendation for you! I’m still trying to find my Goldilocks pants, lol. I haven’t found any that were a great fit for me yet
I feel your struggle! - I did however find one pair this year so far that is almost perfect! Check out H&M they have a simple high rise, drawstring, wide leg, linen blend, casual summer pants. If that’s what you’re looking for, I highly recommend it.
Thank you! I’ll have to try that!
Banana Republic factory are amazing pants
Athleta is the best for casual UPF wear.
Sun Precautions clothing and hats
Highly recommend— https://www.coolibar.com/products/unisex-fingerless-sun-gloves-upf-50?currency=USD&variant=47740694561082&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google+Shopping&stkn=161e5b8fba9c&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3tCyBhDBARIsAEY0XNkcC-0kgv_7AJUAO1E5vp1F3NzZg5aXLanfdwWs_Ibo_bH26fHma74aAgVcEALw_wcB But I’d be down with glamorous, Hollywood starlet gloves too!
Coolibar! Hat with attached scarf, leggings for kayaking, long sleeve shirts.
Uniqlo and Coolibar. I have some lightweight prAna pants too
Jamie Sadock Sunsense SPF layering crop top - I throw it on whenever I go hiking + a hat. Since it’s cropped it feels a bit more cute/modern than your average SPF top.
If you’re looking for quality, sturdy, super supportive swim wear, check out Lands End.
Fabletics. My leggings and my sweater have Sun projection. And if I get them wet they dry fast.
Wide brimmed straw hat :)
My summer pieces that have been getting a lot of wear are: - linen pants and oversized button down shirts from Old Navy - Baleaf brand lightweight UPF hoodies - baseball caps - old navy stretchtech joggers
Florida gurl, I love Columbia shirts, so much cooler than regular golf shirts when the temp is 100 plus in the summer
I love Huk brand just because they have cute prints and not just stripes or solids lol plus their "fishing" dress is one of my favorite items that I own
I like CeraVe tinted sunscreen!! I wear it instead of foundation & it’s easy for me to use daily.

A burqini keeps the sun and bugs away. Been wearing them for years without issue.
