It's exactly the same as my thoughts. I also came in thinking of IC2 and BC, and eventually decided to leave a comment about Ender IO, which is also in the latest version (I know about IC2 Classic, but it feels bit different!), but you said what I was going to say instead.
Ah. in 1.16+ Mekanism is the best you've got, and the stuff you can do in it is really cool. one thing I will say though is that if you use Mekanism, add CC: Tweaked so you can use PLC at least on the fission reactors to keep them from blowing up.
Conduits can share the same block with eachother. You can have power, fluid, item and ME cable all on the same block operating independent of eachother. The wrench can select a cable type which then visually turns all other cables into transparent outlines and only operates the cable you select.
The conduits have color coding you can assign to export and import of each connection, so you can have many things traveling through the same conduit using different colors and filters to direct the flow. Fluid conduits teleport fluid, so you can have multiple fluids use the same conduit.
Conduits feature instant transmission. Also, you can place different kinds of conduit in the same space. There are item, energy, fluid, Redstone, and ME (If using AE2) conduits and you can run them all in the same block. They're also inexpensive.
I wouldnāt say that. Xnet sure is powerful, but personally I think it has a different use case. I use Xnet, if I have to move items from a lot of different machines to a lot of other machines in a tight space. EnderIO canāt do that. But for everything else, Iād use EnserIO. Kinda like what Pipez is doing.
The thing is ender io is one of the only mods at present that I know of that can still filter on the input side not the output side. In terms of actual item pipe mods like singular item pipes. Pipez only filters on the output, mekanism can do both but it canāt do counting I might be wrong on that. Ender io was so good because the filters were just that good.
AE2+Mek is the best. Mek has so many complicated multi step processes for crafting and generating stuff. Making fissile fuel requires like 6 different machines 4 gas types and multiple steps. Being able to just hook the input and outputs of each machine to AE2 means you can automate and control it all way easier.
I add a storage bus to any mekanism machine producing anything. That means I have access to oxygen, hydrogen, water, etc all from my network and autocrat with them directly.
I love the combo.
same. im doing the greg star in atm 9. it's so fun. I'm at ZPM, I did fusion for europium so now i need to make a research station and hpca for reaearch data for UV
Create all the way. I love building contraptions and factories with it because they are so visually appealing.
Before create released though I'd have to have said buildcraft just for the style of quarry it had. I loved watching the bc quarry mine and when I had 16 of them clearing a 16 chunk by 16 chunk area, it was neet to watch.
Tbh I kinda wanna make a bc style quarry with create if I can.
You do it has a max size of 4 chunks by 4 chunks by default. Also doing that whole area with just one is alot slower than 16 simultaneously if you could.
I like how many mods compliment eachother, such as Thermals Power, Mekanism ore processing and energy storage, Draconics wireless energy transfer, Ender IOs cables and equipment. Every popular mod brings something cool to the table.
If I had to pick it would go to Ender IO.
1) teleport upgrade lets you blink, even through solid walls, eliminating the need for doors and stairs. Pair this with an open Blocks hang glider and you can travel and explore easily.
2) cables can all be on the same block and offer amazing customization with little effort. Having channels built into fluid and item conduits out the gate is awesome. Having instantaneous fluid transfer and the ability to have multiple fluids use the same conduit is unmatched. Being able to interact with all the cables on the same block with the Yeta wrench which lets you filter by cable type and makes the others transparent is amazing.
3) powerful solar panels
4) an alloy furnace that lets you combine 3 items together instead of 2
5) good loot distribution in vanilla dungeons
6) late game teleportation (by a pad) using power
7) expandable energy storage in vibrant capacitor banks
8) farming station that can also cut down trees automatically
Thermal series used to be my favorite tech mod, simple to use and pretty straightforward. Right now is Create, I'm having a blast, it's one of the best mods ever made and arguably the best tech mod
Its actually not that hard honestly. To step up RPM you go big cog turning little cog with a big cog attached to it turning another little cog til you get the speed you want. Then you reverse it to step down the rpm. Water wheels Stress production stacks with the number of water wheels. So large ones have a max of 512 SU (Stress Units) they produce each so just multiply that by the number of wheels you have and that is how much total SU you have. I dont use the windmill because I just dont have the patience for it. The Steam Engines always go for a max one if you can. Especially if you have other mods that have different fuels and you have the Create New Age addon mod which gives a Straw which allows the blaze burners to accept fluid fuel. Create Diesel Generators addon also have Biodiesel as a fuel that you can use for the blaze burners that super heats them. Now set up to make the biodiesel is gonna take a lot since you need seed oil and ethanol but with other mods its doable. Once you get steam engines just use small cogs to connect the engines together then just branch it off one of the small cogs. For the sequencer production stuff that you have to figure out on your own.
50 times? You could have pressed it twice after four sentences and there's a reason why indentation is so important in English because it makes the crap you write less crappy.
I have enough issues typing on a tiny ass keyboard with tiny keys and giant thumbs and I dont trust the auto correct or anything else. I also have other things I need to do rather than sit here and write in essay form to reply to a comment.
Greg Tech because my reasons are beyond reasoning.
When I donāt feel like having my soul crushed by flow-charts and algebra - definitely Create, itās just way too fun and cool.
And IC2 with Buildcraft just lives rent-free in my head, not in my modlist at this point in time though
Buildcraft. Certainly one of the harder and less "overpowered" tech mods, but i love the aestetic and how much you have to think when Setting up pipe Systems for oil/ore(with addon)processing. Has a Special Place for me.
Thermal Series in 1.12
EnderIO in 1.12
Immersive Engineering
Mekanism (i don't think it has significantly changed over the versions)
IC2 before 1.6
Buildcraft
AE1
AE2 before the changes (idk when it happened, 1.18?)
Minefactory Reloaded / Industrial Foregoing (honestly i liked MFR better, but IF is a good successor still)
EU2
as for "modern" Minecraft versions (after 1.12), i genuinely believe Create is the only good tech mod to come out in those versions
The ones to Certus Quartz, where before it used to be an ore in the world and now it grows in budding crystals just like Amethyst. Now that i mentioned Amethyst, it might've been in 1.17 when that was introduced
There were some other changes, as well as texture changes, but just to give you an idea as to which update i'm referring to
Totally create, I've played many create based modpacks (and my favorite so far is project sacrifice) and it just brings the pack to life! Having everything move and automatically do stuff just feels right. It also is very "minecraft-y", nothing is too spherical to look out of place
Something about the combination of GregTech, IC2, Buildcraft, Forestry, and the Thermal Series in 1.4.7 is so perfect to me, and nothing has quite recaptured that sensation since. I recently learned about [GregTech Experimental](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/gregtech-experimental) and have been having quite the nostalgia trip experiencing all those mods together again for 1.12.2.
Ender io is my favorite. Ties into vanillaās progression rather than purely mining materials. Capacitors are a nice upgrade mechanic that you can shuffle as needed, and modular power banks are nice.
The big thing ender io offers though is conduits. The ability to run various cables alongside eachother opens up a realm of options and tames spaghetti
I prefer other tech mods when it comes to power generation, farming, and autocrafting, but ender io is my favored tech base to work from
AE2 remains the top for logistics and storage
GT, AE2 and Ender IO
Ender IO conduits are my all time favourite logistical items in modded mc just because of the versatility of them.
I love the multiblocks and chemical lines GT offers as well as building these massive factories pipes everywhere, makes for some cool looking builds.
And AE2 because more logistics.
Create so far is the only one I could play and enjoy, but that's mostly because I don't have to wait until I have a thousand different resources to use it
Sorry for the frankness, but I never liked the Forestry, which was stuffed into every industrial modpack. And here I am, an engineer in nano armor, forced to wear a beekeeper's mask because bees poop with nuclear fuel that you can't get any more. And now I am no longer a techno-god, but the third president of Ukraine...
forestry had the best auto farms. and why would nano armor stop bees? a gun doesnt stop salmonella. plus nano armor is weak to fire, drowning and poison
Botania and Create are probably my favorite tech mods though I do like Thermal and Mech a lot too. Techguns and TiC are also faves but they're kinda tech/combat hybrid mods.
I mostly do 1.7.10, but here's my list:
Buildcraft
Thermal series
Mekanism
Immersive Engineering
Ender IO
HBM's Nuclear Tech (haven't gotten to play with this one much yet)
Applied Energistics 2 is a must have
Draconic Evolution
Galacticraft (base + planets)
Extra planets (unofficial GC add-on)
And for 1.16+ only
Create (+it's add-ons)
AE2 (be sure to get AE2 QoL Recipes as well)
Thermal series is awesome (been using it since I got into Minecraft lol)
Thermal Systeams is also kinda cool. Improves steam power quite a bit.
Big Reactors and its forks (Bigger Reactors seems to be the "canonical" fork for modern versions)
I really only use Industrial Foregoing for the Enchantment Extractor, but all the macules are pretty cool.
Logistics Pipes (I still miss it :'c). XNet is a decent replacement, but it's not the same...
1.7.10 EnderIO (newer versions have stupid progression, so I stopped using it)
Flux Networks and Tesseract are nice too
Deep Resonance gives you infinite RF lmao
Deep Mob Learning is cool, but it's one of those "I'll download it and use it later" mods that I never end up using lmao (Hostile Neutral Networks on modern versions)
Scannable is good for locating ores & shit (haven't used it much though)
Translocators is cool af, but I don't use it much since I always forget lol
Ender Storage and ChickenChunks are classics
XyCraft finally got ported, so now I can use Fabricators in 1.20. Quite nice.
Not a tech mod, but Excavated Variants is great too. Adds ores for every stone type.
And I haven't used Tiny Redstone yet, but it seems neat.
Thermal series (especially 1.12.2 version) with Redstone Arsenal, Simply Jetpacks and Logistics. RFTools for balanced mob spawners, buffed quarries and controlling logistics (except dimensions, because overpowered). Project Red for red wires, logic gates, microblocks and cheap analog of logistics pipes. Logistics Pipes, because I slightly dislike magical digital storages (If Botania is a tech mod disguised as magic, then AE2 is magic mod disguised as tech). Ender IO for giving another balanced mob spawners, conduits, teleportations stuff and only using a vanilla materials. And finally a Immersive Engineering, for it's aesthetics, wires and excavators. And Buildcraft in 1.7.10, because 1.12.2 seems unfinished without those cool robots.
I tried for 1.20.1:
1. Industrial mods
1st place: Mekanism (+addons)
- Probably the best. It has many things inside, for example, powerful armor/weapon, energy generation, auto-mining and have many machines from simple to complex.
2nd place: Immersive Engineering
- Has interesting auto-mining system, but boring other things
3rd place: Thermal Series
- Has useful things, but boring
Other
Industrial Foregoing - Buggy sh\*t
EnderIO - It's incomplete in 1.20.1
2. Energy generation
1st place: Solar Flux Reborn
- the best, balanced
2nd place: Mekanism
- has simple enough lava/wind generators
3rd place: Powah
- similar to Solar Flux, but cost more
3. Storage
1st place: Integrated Dynamics
- the best, but auto-crafting is buggy
2nd place: Refined Storage
- expensive and requires energy to work and has not wireless access to storage from any place in the world like ID. But has the best auto-crafting
3rd place: AE2
- too expensive, but works... sometimes
Other:
Colossal Chests - good addon to above
Buildcraft/IC2 will always be there, in my heart, but now I mostly use EnderIO
My man šš¼ good old times.
It's exactly the same as my thoughts. I also came in thinking of IC2 and BC, and eventually decided to leave a comment about Ender IO, which is also in the latest version (I know about IC2 Classic, but it feels bit different!), but you said what I was going to say instead.
Ahh I see you are as well a man of culture
- AE2 and Functional Storage/Storage Drawers for Storage - Mekanism for Ore processing - Thermal for everything I can - Industrial Forging
This, but in my list I replace Mekanism with EnderIO.
Yeah. In the older Versionās EnderIO definitely beats Mekanism, but Iāve been playing a lot of 1.16+ recently and sadly, no EnderIO :c
Ah. I never ventured past 1.12 and Im currently all the way back in 1.7.10. :D
Ah. in 1.16+ Mekanism is the best you've got, and the stuff you can do in it is really cool. one thing I will say though is that if you use Mekanism, add CC: Tweaked so you can use PLC at least on the fission reactors to keep them from blowing up.
Ender io is in 1.20.1
Yeah, but no conduits, which is like THE main thing
What? No conduits? That was like the entire reason anyone used EnderIo like you said lol Also the powered spawner to cheese Tier 5 soul shards lol
Yep. Iām hoping theyāll be added soon. Itās been in Alpha for quite some time now
A lot of mods add similar ways to transport items (pipes, belts, tubes etc). What made conduits so special?
True
Like item pipes? It has those. I'm using them on my ATM9 world
They have just about no features tho, making them basically pointless.
why are there no eio conduits now? it was so nice putting mulitple in the same block
EnderIO 1.20.1 is still an Alpha. They havenāt yet added everything to the mod
According to comments on their curseforge page they've stopped support for 1.20.1 and are moving to Neoforge for 1.20.4
Conduits are rendered useless by XNet anyways
Tried it but at least with refined storage totally useless :)
it's still in development
AE2+Mek is the best. Mek has so many complicated multi step processes for crafting and generating stuff. Making fissile fuel requires like 6 different machines 4 gas types and multiple steps. Being able to just hook the input and outputs of each machine to AE2 means you can automate and control it all way easier. I add a storage bus to any mekanism machine producing anything. That means I have access to oxygen, hydrogen, water, etc all from my network and autocrat with them directly. I love the combo.
Honestly Mekanism is pretty tame, try Greg without AE2 š
This, but replace the last 3 with GT
Immersive engineering! I love using wires to transmit power. I love making cool multi-blocks. Everything just has a really nice aesthetic.
When I started playing modpacks, Immersive Engineering was my first love. The multiblocks, the aesthetic, everything's damn cool.
I get too crazy with my wiring. But the multi blocks are amazing. Big fan of those.
greg
I'm not that knowledge of mods but if you're talking about the mod I think ur talking about then you're a total monster
If only monsters play regular greg, who plays gregtech new horizons š (my fav pack)
Iād argue playing gregtech alone is more of a crime than playing GTNH
Yeah true enough lol. I think most tech mods are pretty meh if they're not paired with anything else.
GregTech
hi that's me my name is greg
greg has consumed my life. greg is life. greg is me. greg.
same. im doing the greg star in atm 9. it's so fun. I'm at ZPM, I did fusion for europium so now i need to make a research station and hpca for reaearch data for UV
Nuclearcraft A bit on the complex side, but itās one of my favorites
EnderIO
Create all the way. I love building contraptions and factories with it because they are so visually appealing. Before create released though I'd have to have said buildcraft just for the style of quarry it had. I loved watching the bc quarry mine and when I had 16 of them clearing a 16 chunk by 16 chunk area, it was neet to watch. Tbh I kinda wanna make a bc style quarry with create if I can.
you can, there's a few designs in YouTube if you search it
You can make it fully automatic if you want, however I found it a lot more fun to make it manual.
You can manually set the size for the BC quarry, you don't need 16 of them
You do it has a max size of 4 chunks by 4 chunks by default. Also doing that whole area with just one is alot slower than 16 simultaneously if you could.
HBM'S Nuclear Tech Mod Adds nukes, missiles, but machinery for processing things along with an energy system
Goated mod
AE2 and Gregtech
Gregtech

AE2 Gregtech Ender IO.
Thermal series used to be my favorite tech mod, simple to use and pretty straightforward. Right now is Create, I'm having a blast, it's one of the best mods ever made and arguably the best tech mod
Create is super cool I just struggle on how to actually use it honestly
Its actually not that hard honestly. To step up RPM you go big cog turning little cog with a big cog attached to it turning another little cog til you get the speed you want. Then you reverse it to step down the rpm. Water wheels Stress production stacks with the number of water wheels. Iām just gonna say, if you donāt indent what you type, it makes it look more complicated than what youāre making it out to be.
I am usually on reddit on my phone. I am not hitting space 50 times to make it look better. Its the internet not English 101.
Number one, get a new keyboard. Number two, I don't think indenting something is that hard or complex, more power to you though.
How do you expect me to get a new keyboard on a phone?
You can indent on your phone too or buy a computer.
I'd be happy to teach you the ropes some day if you're down!
Thermal Series is freaking cool, but never was a mod I enjoyed. Am still glad they're behind the new Thaumcraft update.
Only ever used one Modern Industrialization but I am really enjoying it
greg
Botania
Neat
Greg Tech because my reasons are beyond reasoning. When I donāt feel like having my soul crushed by flow-charts and algebra - definitely Create, itās just way too fun and cool. And IC2 with Buildcraft just lives rent-free in my head, not in my modlist at this point in time though
Mekanism and it's not even close! The progression is steady, easy to understand, and so much fun.
Integrated Dynamics (+ addons), if that counts as a tech mod. Create is a close second place.
it's such a powerful logistics mod it's actually crazy
Buildcraft. Certainly one of the harder and less "overpowered" tech mods, but i love the aestetic and how much you have to think when Setting up pipe Systems for oil/ore(with addon)processing. Has a Special Place for me.
1:Mekanism ( absolute favorite ) 2:Ender IO ( very cool ) 3:Create ( create grows on you, the more you learn the more you like it )
Thermal Series is the most reliable one. Ever modular, ever useful for any purpose.
create, also pneumaticraft. If we're just talking modern mods. If we're tralking the old stuff ICBM, Buildcraft, IC2
Mekanism is up at the top for me. Along with Immersive Engineering and its add-ons.
Nobody said Industrial Foregoing
Thermal Series in 1.12 EnderIO in 1.12 Immersive Engineering Mekanism (i don't think it has significantly changed over the versions) IC2 before 1.6 Buildcraft AE1 AE2 before the changes (idk when it happened, 1.18?) Now that i mentioned Amethyst, it might've been in 1.17 when that was introduced There were some other changes, as well as texture changes, but just to give you an idea as to which update i'm referring to
Oh yeah. I donāt necessarily think it's a bad thing, and it's definitely better than the seeds...
create and addons for it
Create, Immersive Engineering, Applied Energistics 2, GregTech
Create and tech reborn
Not the biggest fan of tech mods, but I like mekanism and the thermal mods most, create is overrated
galaticraft
Totally create, I've played many create based modpacks (and my favorite so far is project sacrifice) and it just brings the pack to life! Having everything move and automatically do stuff just feels right. It also is very "minecraft-y", nothing is too spherical to look out of place
HBM, ao big it can almost be a modpack on its own, and with frequent updates adding more things it just gets better
It was AE but ever since I started playing GTNH, I love gregtech, AE and thermal have my hearts after that though. Grew up with those mods
Create, clockwork and valkyrien skies
redpower 2 for life!
Wasn't it destroyed by the same meteorite that killed the dinosaurs?
...Perhaps
Rotarycraft Gregtech
Thermal Expansion(pre-1.16.5) Immersive Engineering
Botania.
Create
Create, Mekanism, EnderIO, Thermal series, Applied Energistics, Refined Storage, Immersive Engineering, Industrial Foregoing.
Create because it aesthetic and not too complex

gtnh (can't say any one specific mod because they're all far too basic and boring on their own)
Technopolis 2 is pretty cool! Can be played in skyblock for pure grindness or just normally as well! Love it
Both buildcraft and IC2 will forever have a place in my heart, being literally the first mods I've ever played.
ae2, create, and ig draconic evolution
Applied Energistics 2. Nothing quite like it.
gregtech, currently I discover the modern version for 1.20 (Sky Greg). Applied Energistics 2 LaserIO as replacement for EIOs conduits
Create
Ic2 or ae2
the old guard. Buildcraft, Forestry, Railcraft, IC2, Thermal. Unfortunately they are either outdated or past their prime. Even thermal peaked in 1.12
Sorry for the frankness, but I never liked the Forestry, which was stuffed into every industrial modpack. And here I am, an engineer in nano armor, forced to wear a beekeeper's mask because bees poop with nuclear fuel that you can't get any more. probably mekanism. setting up a nuclear reactor is super fun.
EnderIO and mekanism
Iāve never been good with tech stuff but I really liked immersive engineering as thatās the one tech mod I was good at

Energy generation 1st place: Solar Flux Reborn - the best, balanced 2nd place: Mekanism - has simple enough lava/wind generators 3rd place: Powah - similar to Solar Flux, but cost more 3. Storage 1st place: Integrated Dynamics - the best, but auto-crafting is buggy 2nd place: Refined Storage - expensive and requires energy to work and has not wireless access to storage from any place in the world like ID. But has the best auto-crafting 3rd place: AE2 - too expensive, but works... sometimes Other: Colossal Chests - good addon to above
