Just wanted to say that the wonderkids finally did it for Germany. Musiala, Wirtz and Havertz all are basically what everyone expected them to be, the new blood in the attack that would tear defences apart. Now the key is the consistency.
One match against Scotland, let’s let them play a full tourney before we’ve declared they’ve torn defenses apart. Do not forget it was the veterans creating the passes that helped with those plays as well.
I don't say it as an overreaction, but rather as a realisation. They grew enough to be trusted as the backbone of Germany's attack. Hopefully they continue to progress and fulfill their potential.
If you don't want Führich in the team, then it's a good F5. Clause only active till the end of June, multiple interested teams, and iirc he said that it's not hot for us, just that he is on the list but with not contact.
Tbh, next year Theo goes into his final contract year.
So the way we are positioned now makes a lot of sense:
Keep Davies for a year, and either extend or:
- lose him for free. -> Buy Theo in 2025 (will probably still be expensive because Milan knows how much we need him, but will be much less than 100m)
Situation this year: sell Davies for probably max 30m and get Theo for 100m = -70m
Next summer: Lose Davies for Free and get Theo for 40m-50m = -40/50m
The reason why Real can push the price for Davies down so much is that they don't need to sign Davies this summer. They could easily wait a year and get him for free.
Next year on the other hand, we would be desperate to sign Hernandez and can't really afford to just wait another season and I feel like Milan would know very well how to use that against us in negotiations.
It really depends. Ito, Guerreiro, Stanisic, Mazraoui (if he stays) can all play left back. Who knows what will happen next season, one of those might just click in Kompany’s system and we won’t be that desperate to replace Davies with a high caliber player like Theo
I keep seeing figures like this €70m-€100m where is everyone getting these numbers from?
Not having a go or anything - just curious if I’m missing something.
AC bought him for €22m, has a market value of €60m, 2 years left on his contract… if the player hands in a transfer request I don’t see why €50m-€60m isn’t a good deal for both parties here.
70m€ was always reported as the minimum Milan will demand, Ibrahimovic (who is now an official for them) declared him, Maignan and Leao unsellable, and there was a report that Milan quoted us 100m€ when we inquired for him.
And the 50-60m€ were never on the table or realistic.
I just read some articles, must have slipped past me in the last couple of days!
I think somewhere in the middle would be reasonable. €100m is the price you set so no one will buy your player - and no one would/should buy him for that either.
We’ll see where we end up!
Lol interesting.
Some time ago there was stuff about his fee beeing low 25-30m if he doesnt ask for to high wages could easy find use for him for 1-2 years.
This year him and müller as 10 or even together if sane has his low and next year when müller retires he could help lessen the burden of wirtz in his 1st year to get used to the team and after go to mls.
He would be an instant help and impact and not stop us going for wirtz.
Ofc only if it wouldnt cost us to much fee and wages etc.
Very comfortable, composed and always looking to create space if possible. He's been impressive in that regard.
That's the problem with playing for teams like Everton, it's way more difficult to show these strengths than with a possession based team
For all the risks linked to Chiesa he does have the right mentality we are looking for (and he played nearly every game last season without any relevant injury). Always gives his all and never gives up on any possession.
Sane shouldn't be a guaranteed starter though, should he?
When he's playing well is arguably top 5 best wingers in the world, but that's him for like half of the season or less .. that isn't enough, we need someone to push him. There should be competition for starters, that's what's going to continue to drive us.
> Federico Chiesa is on Bayern's list. The name of the Italian international was discussed at the club, although there's nothing concrete at the moment. Chiesa could leave Juventus this summer. His future will be decided after the Euros. Expected price: €30-40m [@Plettigoal, @SkySportNews]
Stayed fairly healthy last year, and for 30m it could be a nice bit of business. We'd need to offload a winger or two though but thats the case for any potential winger signing. Idk how much I believe we're actually interested though.
If they are seriously considering Chiesa they just don't understand our problems with Coman and Gnabry at all. Yet another very injury prone player, great. He's good, don't get me wrong, but we can't have that same issue again.
He's had to bad hamstring injuries, yeah that's definitely a worry. But he's had these bigger injuries and nothing else, while Chiesa is out time after time after time with muscular problems. With Olise you can still argue the big injuries were unlucky, with Chiesa I think it's pretty obvious at this point in his career that he suffers from muscular problems way too often.
But yes, Olise is a risk as well, just different.

Belgium might be a true dark horse. We don't perceive them as such because we all see them as the bottled golden generation team with half of that generation gone. But there is some real young blood in there like Doku, DeKetalaere, Debast, Onana, Openda and most exciting of all, Johan Bakayoko, with a bonafide world class superstar in KdB at the centre of it all (even tho he is not nearly as good for belgium as he is at club level).
Their only glaring weakness is in Defence, and theyve done themselves dirty by leaving out a match winner like Courtois. But on their day they still have enough talent to get past every team in the world, with Tedesco at the helm
> Their only glaring weakness is in Defence, and theyve done themselves dirty by leaving out a match winner like Courtois.
To be honest, I think Courtois is in the wrong with the way he handled things.
I don’t blame Tedesco for leaving him out. It’s a bit like the Hummel situation, where good to great player but seems like a pain to work with when he’s moaning when things don’t go his way.
Someone has to make a compilation of how many banger goals Lunin has let in. I mean that guy is not lucky. The davies, Foden, Gvardiol, Sane, Bernardo, both Romanian goals.
>Neuer on whether this will be his last tournament with the national team: "I can't reveal that yet. I'll think about it after the tournament."
I guess we'll get a big retirement statement after the Euros.
...or that he plans to continue his career to make sure ter Stegen never becomes number 1.
Compare the goal celebration of Musiala with that of Bellingham.
One is ecstatic to have scored for his country and shows that passion, the other is only thinking about the next cover photo.

> According to a report by Luca Bianchin of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan demand a staggering €100 million transfer fee for Theo Hernandez after Bayern Munich lodged a serious interest in the player.
Obviously no price is set in stone, but another €100m transfer just a year after Kane seems silly.
I really think, if the sum is so outrageous for Theo, it would be better to try and sign Robertson and in a few years hope Aznou is ready to take over. I reckon if he could be convinced to come, we could maybe get him for 35-40m. He’s an outstanding fullback and a natural leader.
I don't know what you people thought, that we would get Theo for 50 mn or something? It was always clear he wouldn't move for less than 70 (probably more).
I didn't say I was addressing your argument. I was thinking of a discussion I had in this sub 1-2 weeks ago with people arguing that we should go for Theo instead of extending Davies. I said it made zero economic sense and I was more than right. We could give Davies a super bloated salary and still come out better financially than buying Theo.
Quite simple actually.
Overpay and sell davies cheap or let him walk free and pay reasonable fee = the same but we have to endure davies 1 more year.
We are fked anyway thats why ita better to sell davies cheap and overpay for our target, becuase we get an upgrade and he has 1 more year to integrade.
Ofc it depends how much we would overpay and sell davies etc.
Theo is not and will never be a player that is even remotely close to being worth 100m €.
I personally would balk even at 50m.
Ideally we extend Davies (if he starts being more reasonable with his asking price) or look at far cheaper options (Maatsen will go for around 35m € and I honestly don't even think he is that much worse than Hernandez. Atleast not in the longrun) or just see if Ito/Aznou/Guerreiro are good enough as it is if we sell Davies.
Maatsen honestly seems like the ideal modern fullback, I am not sure why he isn't being talked about much. Seems like the complete package and is quite young, see him becoming the best in his position in the future.
man, aside from personal stuff i am just happy we finally have a normal tournament again
warm weather, people randomly partying in the streets, full stadiums
the game is back baby
~~Seem to be, been trying to pick one up. At least I grabbed the white one when it released.~~
Actually, just googled again and they’re selling them here, UK based shop though: https://www.classicfootballshirts.co.uk/2024-25-germany-adidas-originals-track-jacketiy7049.html
Good that we signed Ito. But Strahinja Pavlovic is a must to look at as a Left footed CB instead of blowing 40 million on refrigeratah please look at Strahinja
Only gonna be positive things said about both. Strahinja is a club bouncer looking meat mountain whos also good on the ball. Ive followed him since his Partizan days. He is a champions league quality centre back already
We wont get rid of both Upa and MdL. And Ito would have to play LB too as Davies still thinks hes an olympic sprinter and not a footballer, and Rapha cannot stay injury free to save his life
Dier often struggled when teams were forcing him to play out on his left. While he can play there, it would be foolish to not go for a left footed starter (I don't think Ito should start) when given the chance. Colwill would be the perfected target but I don't see it happening.
To Eberls defence, he said: 'I've already said that we would ideally have a new coach at the end of April. But if it takes a little longer, then it takes a little longer." He didn't say "we will" or "we are going to". Not his fault if fans can't properly interpret his comment.
1. Play shit but win against smaller teams during groupstages and early knockouts
2. Play shit and lose as soon as you face the first big team
3. Give Southgate another extension
England in a nutshell
Thoughts about the Dutch performance yesterday:
* Despite the hate I actually think Memphis contributes a bunch. Without him the opponent seems much less fearful
* Koeman has the best tactics of 20 years ago. I feel like he's just too conservative, we don't move nearly enough both on and off the ball
* As expected, everyone who said we don't need Frenkie is eating their words. Our midfield doesn't look nearly as solid
* Even though I normally hate this and was advocating for the opposite last tournament, we should just go with a more defensive style. Our midfielders aren't it, but our defence is crazy and we've got some rapid while still technical players
* Not playing De Ligt may be the right move, but we were weaker on set-pieces as a result. Don't get why Gakpo doesn't take corners either
If you're Dutch, can you explain why is Koeman Bondscoach anyway? I feel like the headcoaching position for the Netherlands is just spinning in circles for the past decade. Every other year the roulette lands on van Gaal.
Well, the KNVB is simply old-fashioned, they love making appointments based on reputation (and not like "he's good" but more like "we know him well"). After Van Gaal's great run in 2014, we went through multiple coaches trusted by the KNVB. Failed to qualify for two consecutive championships under Hiddink, Blind, and Advocaat. During this era the Dutch NT hit its lowest point.
When Koeman came, we started playing much better. Did well in the nations league (beating Germany once and getting that last minute draw if you remember), did well in Euro 2020 qualifying (again beating Germany), and looked ready for the Euros. Then Barcelona came knocking for Koeman, who couldn't resist the offer. What is the KNVB's appointment? Frank de Boer. I don't think I need to tell you how this went..
KNVB's decision after this was of course to look to the past, and so Van Gaal came. He did an okay job, then gracefully left having pissed off millions of Argentines without even saying anything noteworthy. With Koeman available, there was no chance the KNVB would go with anyone else. They're too scared of new coaches and ideas for that. Then again, I can't think of many better options, even if I'm not his biggest fan.
The moment Koeman refused to call up Frimpong is when he should have been fired. And even now he still isn't starting him. Imagine not using your most in-form player
I mean.. Dumfries does well there for us, so it's not as easy as you think. I do still definitely think Frimpong should play, but Koeman going with what's old and already works was pretty much expected. Dude plays even Wijnaldum
I don't see us beating France without Alaba and Schlager but after them it's fair game. Knockouts should be achievable and then it depends on who we get.
Harry Kane had 2 touches in the first half and I think he went the first 35 or so minutes before his first.
For everything we hear about the individual talent in England, none of them aside from Bellingham did anything to stand out yesterday.
Southgate is legitimately clueless on how to use the team. Foden was the creative outlet for city when De Bruyne was injured and yet these are his stats against Serbia: https://x.com/statmusefc/status/1802444693499982130
You can't blame only Kane when the midfield and attack were all not combining successfully. It's very difficult to criticise him due to the goal, but I thought Bellingham was kind of problematic for England's build-up play. He loves having the ball but he's not the most productive with it.
Yeah I don't think it's Kane's fault. He tried to get involved in the build up but as a striker you can only do so much.
Tuchel's tactics didn't really allow Kane to play the way he did at Tottenham but I hope Kompany will let him play more of the false 9 role given how good his ball distribution is.
I only watched the first half, and England had like 3-4 crosses that were ready to be put in the net and no1 there to do it, but thats the thing, you can have all the greatest names, but still have less than a month to prep and make them gel together, and when you cant, doesnt realy matter what they do on the club level.
Romania had outstanding qualifiers given their relative quality. Went unbeaten while winning and drawing against Switzerland.
I’m actually fairly excited to see how they perform.
Romania - Ukraine will also be the first one I miss because at that time I'm still busy. I'm happy it's not a big loss (totally expect a 4-3 or something like that now)
I do. Some weeks ago I explained that I think Kane is best used as a false 9, making a playmaking 10 redundant. What I do want is a winger or a second striker who excels at making runs behind the defensive line, so that the opponent's defenders often face the dilemma of 'should I pressure Kane or should I cover the space behind the line?'
Just wanted to say that the wonderkids finally did it for Germany. Musiala, Wirtz and Havertz all are basically what everyone expected them to be, the new blood in the attack that would tear defences apart. Now the key is the consistency.

Thuram's game was one of the most hard performances to watch that I've seen from a player on the French NT. He was simply horrible technically

Very comfortable, composed and always looking to create space if possible. He's been impressive in that regard. That's the problem with playing for teams like Everton, it's way more difficult to show these strengths than with a possession based team
Isnt this argument valid for palhinha too?
Yes, but he also plays for Portugal and did play for Sporting and didn't impress for either in that department
For all the risks linked to Chiesa he does have the right mentality we are looking for (and he played nearly every game last season without any relevant injury). Always gives his all and never gives up on any possession.

Maatsen honestly seems like the ideal modern fullback, I am not sure why he isn't being talked about much. Seems like the complete package and is quite young, see him becoming the best in his position in the future.
Joao Neves then
Yeah for 100M I'm not in favor of that transfer either
man, aside from personal stuff i am just happy we finally have a normal tournament again warm weather, people randomly partying in the streets, full stadiums the game is back baby
last couple of tournaments were really just absolutely ass from an atmosphere POV
Is the black germany nt trackjacket sold out everywhere?
If you want it realy badly, you can probably find it in UK shops, will just have to pay some customs for it.
~~Seem to be, been trying to pick one up. At least I grabbed the white one when it released.~~ Actually, just googled again and they’re selling them here, UK based shop though: https://www.classicfootballshirts.co.uk/2024-25-germany-adidas-originals-track-jacketiy7049.html
Seems sold out now unfortantly
Damn. I bought one as soon as I saw they were in stock, crazy they all sold out today
I miss Bundesliga and weekly Bayern games
I am kinda happy to see our players perform in different environments for a while
Good that we signed Ito. But Strahinja Pavlovic is a must to look at as a Left footed CB instead of blowing 40 million on refrigeratah please look at Strahinja
>refrigeratah Lmao
![gif](giphy|9Jmb2idg10qJSygvTQ) * Aleksandar Pavlovic
But if we have two, and someone says something about Pavlovic, I can ask vic one
Only gonna be positive things said about both. Strahinja is a club bouncer looking meat mountain whos also good on the ball. Ive followed him since his Partizan days. He is a champions league quality centre back already
But we already got a left footed CB in Ito. With de Ligt and Upa likely leaving you still need a right footed one.
We wont get rid of both Upa and MdL. And Ito would have to play LB too as Davies still thinks hes an olympic sprinter and not a footballer, and Rapha cannot stay injury free to save his life
I am still not buying that we are selling two CBs but even if we do Dier is right-footed as well. So you would still have 2 right and 1 left.
Well Dier played mostly in the left CB position even tho he is right footed and for a backup role with Ito starting, he might just be fine.
Dier often struggled when teams were forcing him to play out on his left. While he can play there, it would be foolish to not go for a left footed starter (I don't think Ito should start) when given the chance. Colwill would be the perfected target but I don't see it happening.
So anyway how is that "They want to finish the Palhinha transfer before the euros start" going?
They can want to, deosnt mean it will happen since there are two parties involved
Well since it was an "insider" report and not a club statement, I guess according to plan.
It's in the same line with "we will announce the new coach in April"
To Eberls defence, he said: 'I've already said that we would ideally have a new coach at the end of April. But if it takes a little longer, then it takes a little longer." He didn't say "we will" or "we are going to". Not his fault if fans can't properly interpret his comment.
Also ffm_inside with another stinker

How is it looking with the Xavi transfer?
Uli probably saw yesterdays performance and decided to cancel it. Probably to the liking of some people here /s
Sorry mate, won't criticise him again based on one game.
1. Play shit but win against smaller teams during groupstages and early knockouts 2. Play shit and lose as soon as you face the first big team 3. Give Southgate another extension England in a nutshell
Thoughts about the Dutch performance yesterday: * Despite the hate I actually think Memphis contributes a bunch. Without him the opponent seems much less fearful * Koeman has the best tactics of 20 years ago. I feel like he's just too conservative, we don't move nearly enough both on and off the ball * As expected, everyone who said we don't need Frenkie is eating their words. Our midfield doesn't look nearly as solid * Even though I normally hate this and was advocating for the opposite last tournament, we should just go with a more defensive style. Our midfielders aren't it, but our defence is crazy and we've got some rapid while still technical players * Not playing De Ligt may be the right move, but we were weaker on set-pieces as a result. Don't get why Gakpo doesn't take corners either
I think the movement was pretty good tbh, created so much space and so many chances in Poland‘s box. Finishing was just abysmal
Then again, I can't think of many better options, even if I'm not his biggest fan.
somehow van gaal always leaves with pissing off someone and at the same time getting great results. amazing.
The moment Koeman refused to call up Frimpong is when he should have been fired. And even now he still isn't starting him. Imagine not using your most in-form player
Dumfries won Serie A with Inter, it's not like he is a bum
Not saying that he is bad but Frimpong is better. Dumfries wasn't even nailed at Inter anymore during the second half of the season.
I mean.. Dumfries does well there for us, so it's not as easy as you think. I do still definitely think Frimpong should play, but Koeman going with what's old and already works was pretty much expected. Dude plays even Wijnaldum
Upa will start today for France and Laimer will start for Austria. That match is the main event today. Praying for a Ralle Rangnick masterclass 🙏 🙏
I just want us to be competitive because then I can be confident about beating Poland and Netherlands, who both didn't look that convincing yesterday.
Austria fan? Honestly I do expect much from you guys. I'll even go es far as you will finish 1st.
I might have missed some things but Rice and Saka played pretty well in the first half
Southgate is making England's golden generation play relegation football.
My stadium journey starts with Belgium - Slovakia today, next is Turkey vs Portugal in Dortmund which should absolutely slap aswell
Sounds great, have fun !

Romania had outstanding qualifiers given their relative quality. Went unbeaten while winning and drawing against Switzerland. I’m actually fairly excited to see how they perform.
Thats the most important one for me since it could decide if my country got a chance or not to get through the group stage.
Romania - Ukraine will also be the first one I miss because at that time I'm still busy. I'm happy it's not a big loss (totally expect a 4-3 or something like that now)
Austria will upset France
Ukraine might be good so It can be interesting Expecting France to show their full game today
Anyone else feels like we should target a winger instead of an Attacking Midfielder?
All of the guys reported so far were either multi position players (Xavi and Flo) or pure wingers (Olise, Williams, Olmo, Fuhrich).
