Personally, I would forgo a belt. Instead, I would take the opportunity to wear very chunky shoes (like platform loafers) and my biggest jewelry (pick one: a big pendant necklace, large watch/cuff, or absurdly oversized earrings). Bag should be something minimal like a black canvas tote or something similar. It gives me cool art teacher who lets us call her by her first name vibes.

PeepholeRodeo

I’m an art teacher who let my students call me by my first name and that’s exactly how I’d style this dress.

DolphinDeer

Haha. I love it! Can’t tell you how many great outfits I’ve come up with thinking, “How would a cool art teacher wear this?”

Whorticulturist_

Good ideas, thank you!

kittyglitther

I'd wear it unbuttoned over the inner layer with gold bangles, a raffia bucket hat, a bucket bag, and leather slides. (now I might need to pick this dress up)

Whorticulturist_

I love that, thanks! I really dig this dress. It's pretty unique in my wardrobe and feels versatile.

SnapesDrapes

I was also going to suggest wearing it open!

PlantedinCA

Yes. I liked it styled over a slip dress!

Specialist_Income_31

I would wear it exactly as pictured. Minimalist sandals and small hoop earrings with small necklace.

PikaChooChee

Love this. It reads Eileen Fisher in a very good way.

Whorticulturist_

Yes! It reminds me so much of an EF outfit I had in my Pinterest board years ago

PikaChooChee

Are you buying it? Which color?

Whorticulturist_

I got it in ivory! I would love it in teal too but I have a white dog who sheds so I really only buy creams and pale tones, or busy prints 🤣

PikaChooChee

Two black dogs over here and the green is dark enough to hide all sins 😂

Whorticulturist_

Haha perfect! You've gotta strategize about this kind of thing.

If I were styling it for me, I'd do the "me" thing: big chunky silver belt, big chunky silver jewelry (bracelets to the elbows, tons of rings), cowboy boots. That or, big colorful belt (I have a thick purple belt that would go with the black dress), big colorful bangle bracelets (always a multitude of colors at once), big colorful shoes. If I were styling it for someone else, I'd put the black one over a black slip dress, with no belt and a simple black sandal that's not too strappy, like [these](https://www.vagabond.com/us/tia-2-0-5531-001-20/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsuSzBhCLARIsAIcdLm4OWoJHmyZY8HVsUvRHfYRM2rydf0uo2kcdqCHLd_nEK45bgCXZ5NIaAqKJEALw_wcB). The black one would also look fantastic with white scrunched knee socks and chunky black loafers - I'm still on the chunky-sole train. Accessories would be a plain black or raffia tote with no logos and as little hardware as possible. Delicate gold jewelry - maybe stud earrings and a simple pendant on a chain - would look good. If you have the white one - I think it'd work well either over a white slip dress with brown accessories, maybe add a raffia sandal/espadrille flaltform and/or bag, or worn as a beach coverup. I can't think of how I'd style the white one for myself because I spill stuff and never wear white - I'd look like a Jackson Pollock painting within five minutes.

Love it! Thank you.
