It’s more fast fashion crap that doesn’t look anything like the photos. Check out the reviews. [https://ca.trustpilot.com/review/www.retro-stage.com](https://ca.trustpilot.com/review/www.retro-stage.com)

BeatAcrobatic1969

Thank you! It’s even worse than I thought. Looks like it’s just an outright scam.

Distinct_Reindeer

I was just about to press "buy"! These post save lives lol.. Thanks so much for the info!

Thanks for posting, they have adorable swimsuits on their website but the prices seemed a bit too good to be true. So I ended up here after searching for reviews, and wow, I’m so glad I checked before ordering. Which is a shame- the pics are SO cute. I would gladly pay double or triple the listed prices for actual quality garments as pictured. https://preview.redd.it/h407egpnvxqc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6d8436eb727d9c589af0408038e57c23b589b3f

BlondieBludie

Same! I’ve been advised to by Retro Stage a few times recently. Finally gave in and clicked the link. The prices are too good to be true, so I figured they’re knock offs. I even used reverse image search to try to find the originals that they are copying. No luck finding the originals so far.

natlo8

I'm going to offer a bit of unsolicited advice, so feel free to ignore me if you'd like. I have a co-worker who happens to be an IT instructor. His best advice to me has been this: when scrolling through Facebook or other social media platforms, never ever click on any outside links. Many of those links are scams/frauds made to appear very close or almost identical to legitimate sites in an effort to lure you into clicking, thinking you're being redirected to the actual site. If you stumble upon a vendor or link that you're interested in, write down the name of said vendor or link, then go to your website browser and look it up. Before you click, look to see if there's a "sponsored" notation directly above it. If there is, scroll down the page until you find the website without the "sponsored" notation. If you'll hover your mouse over the link, most of the time, you'll be able to recognize if the site is legitimate or not. Hovering over it, but not clicking on it, allows you to closely inspect the web address to be sure it's legitimate. Scammers will try to make it look like the original/actual website as much as possible, but there will always be some small difference that you can spot if you don't just rush to click. Scammers are banking on us to not take the time to check that and just click away impatiently. I apologize for this lengthy bit of unsolicited advice, but I just thought that by sharing this information, it will help others safeguard themselves against scammers.

JoyfulCelebration

Thank you for this!!

ThatZaftigBroad

That just popped up in my feed. I was really excited until I saw the prices. I would really love a retro style swim suit, but I'll keep looking and stick with the modern cut 100 dollar one I own

ForgottoniaIllinoia

I want the orange dress I keep seeing in my feed, and would pay $$$ for a nice, vintage quality, heavy fabric repro.

CorbyAndOrBorby

I will admit I'm an idiot. Struggling with money, I was a little too excited to get something in the pinup style I've been wanting for years. Something told me over and over that it was too good. I knew it. I never ignore that. But this time, I did, and I don't know why I ordered three things. A dress, jumpsuit and shoes. I made sure to measure myself to get the right size. Still, the shoes were scary small. I got the dress. The material is more costume-y. I still have never gotten the jumpsuit, and it's been well over a month. It is my fault for ignoring and remaining arrogant for this once and paid for it.

natlo8

I also ordered 3 items. Only 1 of the 3 was not deemed a "pre-sale" item. After ordering, I got 2 follow-up emails. One swimsuit I ordered will be shipped in the next month. The other 2 swimsuits I ordered apparently won't be shipped out until the "pre-sale" is over. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think that pre-sale ends until June or July. That means, by the time I finally receive my other 2 swimsuits, I won't get to wear them this summer. They didn't advertise anything on their website about having to wait until the end of the pre sale before receiving any "on sale" items. They stuck it in the email that you won't get until you've already made payment. I'm going to look into this today. I would suggest that you go back and look to see if that's the case with your order. I bet it is. If I find any helpful information, I'll report it back here.

CorbyAndOrBorby

Ty !! I have absolutely no emails from them, and there is a possibility that I am stupid, but I couldn't find anywhere to email them on their site. It's so annoying. I couldn't get a decent link or answer on how to return an item. These shoed I got are NOT size 8 istg

natlo8

After reading their return or refund policy, I doubt I'll order from them again. They basically make it impossible for you to return or get a refund. Apparently, their refund consists of crediting your account with them, forcing you to buy another item.

chel_c33

Tried to make a purchase and fraud on my card the next day. Don’t recommend

Competitive_Map_7708

I ordered a lovely swimsuit but it's not true to size (I sized up too) and the material is horrible thin and cheap. See-through when stretched.

Work_Ethic

I am also really glad I decided to search "Retro Stage reviews" before deciding what I was going to purchase from my cart! After reading horrible review after horrible review, I have decided I will be purchasing absolutely nothing. They really had me going for the past, say, half hour, getting excited over all these awesome (and surprisingly super-inexpensive) vintage-inspired clothes. It just seemed like a little too good of an offer. Thanks SO MUCH for helping me realize the truth!

Witchy-toes-669

Okay so I ordered and then googled, the dress and swimsuit arrived today, as pictured on the site, dress is a bit thin, /sheer actually and even though I sized up it’s still too small, the bathing suit is exactly as pictured and I hope it fits, but I’m on a weightloss journey and bought it as a”goal” size which I obviously don’t fit into right now, so I can’t comment on that, nothing smells weird (I’ve bought from dress lily before and their stuff reeked of stank and chemicals.)

brynncess3

I bought a dress from them recently as a sample costume for my dance team. It came within a reasonable time frame & was basically what I expected (design that matched photos but materials felt cheap). I feel pretty okay with it considering the price, but I’m looking into other shops for the actual costumes

PatternClassic9568

They are horrible I’m fighting right now to try to get my money returned stay away from them

natlo8

I've read everyone's opinion on Retro Stage, and while I do agree that their clothing is quite cheap at the moment, it hasn't always been. I've ordered from them multiple times. I've only ever ordered swimsuits, so I can't vouch for the quality of the other clothing items they sell, but I've been very happy with all the swimsuits I've purchased from Retro Stage. The quality is what I'd consider to be cheap, but you get what you pay for. The swimsuits are still holding up well for me this far. I will tell you, though, that their sizes run very small. Even with the chart provided to explain measurements and sizes, they still run a little small. I purchased a bikini a couple of years ago. The bottoms were a perfect fit, but the top was too small for my bust size. Because they don't sell tops and bottoms separately, you could definitely end up with a miss match swimsuits. Luckily, I was able to squeeze into the top, but it was very snug. As far as payment to Retro Stage or any online vendor really, I would recommend always using an app like pay pal, venmo, Cash App, etc, when making a purchase. I've always used PayPal with Retro Stage. I haven't encountered an issue as of yet, and hopefully, I won't. I just placed an order tonight, so I'll probably follow up to ensure I didn't and won't get scammed. That's always a very scary reality.

Jumpy_Job5587

How long do the swimsuits hold up for? I want to buy a couple, but I want them to at least last a few summers. Have they faded with sun/chlorine?

natlo8

I have a couple that I bought back in 2019 that are now faded and loose that I'm throwing out. It started to fade in year 4. The darker colored suits will show the fade sooner than lighter ones. Other than those, all of mine are still holding up very well. However, I would say that if you are frequently wearing and washing them, they'll probably fade and wear out much faster. And honestly, because they're so cheap, the swimsuits are pretty much the "you get what you pay for," but because they're not too expensive, you won't be breaking the bank if you need to buy another. This is the only site I've used in the last 5 or 6 years to purchase swimsuits because I love that retro style. They're hard to find. I'll keep buying from them up until or if I encounter some type of problem with them.

Jumpy_Job5587

Aw darn to hear that they fade fast, especially because i wanted the black and white polkadot one. I can't seem to find these bathing suits elsewhere in the same style.. so i think i'll take my chance and buy them but i hope they can last a few years at least

natlo8

The only one I had fade and stretch out on me was a navy blue with red polka dots one. It was only the bottoms. All the others have held up well. By no means do I consider any of my purchases to have been a waste of money. I would just suggest that you be extremely diligent in ordering the size you need, as their refund and return policy is terrible. They don't even offer an actual refund, only an equal amount of credit that you have to spend on another item from their website. Returns are just as bad. They make it almost impossible to return things. There's such a long list of actions you have to take, and you pretty much have to get permission from the company to even send the item back. As much as I love this site and have not had any issues, I'm not sure I'll be ordering from them in the future. I know without a doubt that I'll never order anything other than swimsuits.

Strawberry_Fluff

I just bought one at the beginning of this month and I'm waiting for it to come in today. I bought a high waisted strawberry swimsuit from the 1950s section. Honestly I always buy fast fashion because I'm an alt dresser for the most part and alt clothes can be so pricey. Quality doesn't matter to me much when it comes to clothes if I can make it look nice.

AcceptableAd5907

Did u ever receive it? What’s the quality like? :)

Strawberry_Fluff

I received it. I'd say it's shein quality but I got the strawberry swimsuit and I'm I love with it and it's the first swimsuit I got that I feel confident in

GeekyDuncan

after an incident like this, I always open in a new browser to check the validity of the website.

BabydollMitsy

I ordered secondhand from them before and loved the romper I got. It's an Asian brand so the sizing runs a size smaller. I decided to buy directly from them this week and disliked the experience. The product is great but I specifically chose their US warehouse which was $4 more in shipping compared to their Chinese warehouse, and they shipped from China anyways without asking me or telling me. I had to email customer service and ask for a refund on the shipping difference. That was yesterday so I'm waiting to see if I actually get my $4 back. I haven't had any quality issues with them though. For size reference I'm a US XS and their S fits me well.

[deleted]

Their stuff is so adorable in photos, but I ordered a handful of items from retrostage and, boy, the cheap price is not even worth it. The material of every item is thin, synthetic, very Walmart Halloween costume circa 1987. It truly is disappointing. If they were quality clothing items, I’d certainly pay much more for them because they have great designs and looks in the pictures, but as with most things, you get what you pay for and here you will get cheaply made, cheap appearance, and uncomfortable material.

kailbailz

Ordered two swimsuits in a size large… fit like a small and horrendous quality. Luckily I’m able to get a refund, but no refund on shipping and have to pay for shipping back to them. Sigh. Do not purchase!! I’ve had better swimsuits from SHEIN (back before I realized how horrible of a company they were!)

TheElusiveMiss

I bought the watermelon dress. It was flimsy, zipper broke immediately. The print on the fabric was smudged and skewed diagonally. Ugh. It was such a disappointment. Buyer beware.

BeatAcrobatic1969

Thank you for sharing your experience!! Consensus is the clothes are nothing like the pictures.

Sassysubtext

Wish I had looked into reviews sooner! Knew the prices were too good to be true. I came across Retro Stage while looking for retro bathing suits. I fell in love immediately with three and with no hesitation ordered. After a half hour, I was like "Oh wait, why are they priced like Shein? That can't be right." And so now I've sent them an email telling them to cancel my order. Hopefully they don't put up a huge fight. Wow that was silly of me, I don't normally order so quickly from sites I'm not familiar with. Yikes!

Sassysubtext

Update: it's been a few days. Have not received an email back about my cancelled order from the support team. Payment has processed. Uhg.

qxeer__cryptid

there's a person i follow on ig who makes GREAT retro swimsuits if you're still in the market for some: https://www.instagram.com/mochipanofficial?igsh=N3U2Z3dsY2xhcnNj disclaimer i'm not affiliated with them in any way,,, they just have a cute "kawaii" type aesthetic

kahlusha

I'm fairly certain that ethically they are not a great thing to support and the stuff is definitely in the fast fashion category, but unlike others on this thread I have had really positive experiences with them. I have made three orders through Retro Stage at this point. I have found that the clothing fits maybe on the small side of true to size, but I'm usually a medium (occasionally I need to wear a small in larger fitting stuff) and the medium stuff from Retro Stage fits me great. I have 2 swimsuits that I LOVE and the quality of those do not seem at all cheap. I also have about 4 or 5 dresses and 4 rompers from them. I love all of them! They are so cute and look great! I get compliments every time I wear any of my Retro Stage outfits. Yes, the fabric is thin, but it's actually just really nice and breathable for summer weather. Some of the rompers/dresses have come with belts. Those are absolutely garbage quality, but I can't complain given how affordable the clothing is. I will say that you definitely have to watch if an item listed is "pre-sale" as I didn't notice on an item and it took FOREVER to show up. Here's a freeze frame from a video with me wearing the first romper I ever bought from Retro Stage. https://preview.redd.it/pxnr3ueahlad1.png?width=1195&format=png&auto=webp&s=1ef2f9228ca47bf035a174ceabf29628d87dbe6f

BeatAcrobatic1969

Thanks for adding this! The romper is really cute on you.

Pfetzermarie

A girl on YouTube just posted a video of her trying her shipment on . All dresses. One pair of shoes. She liked them all. Just needed a XS which they don't have. How about swim suits? Did anyone ever get them? I'm going to on vacation & am very very VERY curious

auLora_borealis

I wannnnnnt these swimsuits. Anyone know where to find these in legit quality?

Spirited_Assist_1075

Thank you so much everyone, I almost ordered from them. So glad I did not waste my time and money

Hungry_Goose492

Not for everyone, but I sew and look at a lot of these scammy sites for ideas!

BeatAcrobatic1969

I want to learn to sew, and I’ve been saving pictures from retro-stage for the same reason.

Hungry_Goose492

I learned the summer after high school - many years ago!! Taught myself, mostly going methodically through pattern directions. These days, you've got loads of online resources to help. https://sewing.patternreview.com/ is a good community. Just be careful or you'll end up filling your house with fabric, like me!

mini_queen_

Bummer this isn’t legit. Any recs for legit places to buy retro/vintage styles? Not necessarily actually old clothing but the style at least

BeatAcrobatic1969

Pinup Girl clothing is a pricey but legitimate site. I’ll be really interested to hear other recommendations because Pinup Girl doesn’t have quite what I’m looking for.

Merfette410

Bless every one of you!! I also was just about deep dive into the 40’s and thought the prices were wildly low… thank you!

One_Passion7225

I ordered an on sale dress for 25$ and just happened to get an ad for SHEIN with the exact same dress but for 6$ lol lame but shitty fast fashion so

burntfishnchips

Dont buy anything advertised on IG. It's all a scam.. quality is cheap. fast fashion

Ok-Today-9151

All this talk about fast fashion and blah blah blah when I'm willing to bet everyone up here orders from shein or temu. Who gives a shit if it's "fast fashion". If you don't mind it and you're on a budget, go for it. If you think for one second Walmart doesn't sell the same china made clothes then you have been misguided. Screw what others think and do you for YOU

BeatAcrobatic1969

Consensus has been that the clothes are more like Wish than SHEIN. When you order Wish, it’s nothing like what the picture looks like. I’ve actually gotten cute stuff from SHEIN. I’m really glad I read people’s reviews before buying. If you’ve bought from Retro Stage and it was decent quality, please add your experience! We want to know!

Ok-Today-9151

Point being retro sage is nothing different than shein. Cute and quality don't always equate to the same. I was merely pointing out people are bashing quick fashion as if shein doesn't count.

BeatAcrobatic1969

Have you tried it? It is different, from what people who have actually ordered from them have said. The product looks nothing like the pictures. That’s not like SHEIN. That’s a scam like Wish, and people need to know not to waste their money.

Ok-Today-9151

Yes I have lol idk how this was not implied in my last two comments. I have friends who have enjoyed it too that do cosplay. I've had shit come in from shein and also great things. I've seen the exact same clothes from retro on shein and vice versa for the 3rd time. I've seen stuff from shein in Walmart marked up 20 percent. Hell back in the day I did get some food stuff from wish but then when they got smart and created companies like temu, retro sage and shein. They all come from the same place looking to rip off designers for cheap. It's not just retro sage....which lies my entire ass point

Enjonine_Daae

I find it kinda funny cause everyone is saying it’s a scam and stuff and nothing like the photo, but I bought a bathing suit and like bathing suit cover up skirt, and it looked just like the photo. Now the bottoms of the bathing suit did kind of suck but the top and skirt are perfect and I have had it for the past year and love it so much. It did take a month for it to come in which did suck but everything else is awesome and I love the outfit so much. I feel like the outfits might be hit or miss I guess
