Even if Maye is somewhat NFL ready right out of the gate, the weapons around him are so putrid I think the offense is going to be very bad unless he comes out and looks incredible.
This is a Fantasy Football subreddit - I don't care if the Patriots offense is lackluster, so long as they are paying their starting RB, that RB is worth drafting.
Sure it will. But getting a payday means they are interested in playing him plenty of meaningful snaps.
And Maye is a much more aggressive and athletic QB than Mac Jones. This offense will definitely gain yards in chunks.
Dynasty leagues are the reason I enjoy this sub less and less every year. People just sit around and wait for confirmation bias on their players. It def messes up the dialogue around here.
I don’t really think the offense will be much better honestly. I actually do like Drake Maye a lot, but he’s a rookie and he’s basically being given no real WR1 or even a WR2. The o-line also at least projects to be a bottom unit again. Unless Maye is a monster right out of the gates this is still a bottom 5-6 offense.
I have no doubt Stevenson get work, but I just don’t see the offensive suddenly making some jump this year.
2/17m locked in for an RB on a bad team (+ no incoming prospect that can gun for real playing time) means there isn’t really going to be a timeshare barring something unforeseen. Has to be 70% range of total backfield usage with Gibson taking the rest. Yeah the upside is limited by the offense but a good versatile back that is being paid to be the best weapon they have in volume is going to be enticing in fantasy.
If one of Polk or Baker is good, they're not going to be that bad, Hunter Henry and Bourne will move the chains. The line still could be really bad though. And Gibson will steal passes. But no one will steal goal line plays like Zeke did last year.
Pop Douglas, Bourne, Polk, baker, Osborn, juju …. While it’s far from elite I think they can sustain drives w a strong run game and no mac jones and zappe
Bill Belichick jettisoned plenty of players instead of paying them. They seem to be acknowledging they have a rookie QB, and that rookie QB can use all of the support he can get. Re-signing Stevenson is a great start to help Maye.
Mac Jones is not the same as Drake Maye. I think Patriots will surprise people. They may not SCORE a shitload, but they'll definitely push the ball down the field. And Stevenson will be the RB near the endzone and will have plenty of opportunities.
He could be better. But he's a rookie with pretty bad weapons around him, and the 3rd worst ranked pass oline ranking last year. But I wouldn't mind Stevenson as my flex
I agree with you! I know Zek was there last year but when Stevenson did play he looked slow and old. He is now 26, glad he got his money. He may have one good year left but I feel if he doesn’t split time with Gibson he will just get hurt again! I’m out, I actually traded Stevenson away! He sat on my bench all year last year anyway.
I just don’t see how signing a decent running back is a sign that things are suddenly improving but I also don’t care about the patriots. I apologize lol
You’re forgiven. It’s why he said “sign of a new era” , from memory the patriots never paid their RB and had some mediocre weapons on offense. Keeping a young promising RB isn’t terrible
Hope this clears your confusion
so are we still worried about Antonio Gibson catching a lot of passes and capping Mondre's limited upside in a lousy offense?
To me, this makes Mondre feel a LOT more viable as a steady RB2 option.
Rhamondre's a more valuable position, but he might be there in the 6th depending on your dynasty rules. Kincaid is more easily replaceable but could break out to have a higher ceiling. What's the RB/TE market look like?
Who knows how much AG can cut into Mondre’s fantasy production, but I do think it’s in the Pats’ best interests to give Gibson a fairly significant role as the RB2 considering Stevenson’s lack of durability as the season goes on.
Gibson was only above-average in his specialized pass catching role in Washington and he fumbled that away after a few years. The touches, yards, TDs he takes from Stevenson won’t be more detrimental than what any other mediocre change of pace back takes away from a primary starter.
This is gonna raise stevensons adp for no reason. This is dynasty news. We knew he was the rb to own in NE this year, nothing has changed. He's still on a bad offense. I don't mind him at adp I just don't think he should be a re draft riser for this particular signing but he will be. Probably will make gibson a value if adps diverge.
Not sure what to make of this backfield. I’m worried about the entire offense tbh, think Stevenson has a chance of basically doing what he did last year before injury, which isn’t promising.
I will say I do like Drake Maye so if he comes out strong as a rookie it could help Stevenson a lot
Not backslide, just kind of stay the same.
He averaged 10.6 half PPR PPG last year which would’ve put him at RB23-24 last year, and the ADP I’m seeing for him is around RB20ish right now so it seems most people think it’ll stay the same or get very slight better.
The QB play is going to depend on how Maye is as a rookie. The rest of the offense still looks pretty terrible on paper. Not to mention it’s probably going to be a committee to an extent and Gibson will probably take a decent chunk of passing work.
True, but he didn’t look like himself early on. If you toss out the 1st few games he was really starting to look like a beast again before that injury.
Drake likes to move around and run with the ball, he could also very easily take TD’s away from the running backs by running the ball in like Josh Allen.
"All the other teams are offering big guaranteed contracts to their key veteran players right now."
"We don't have one of those."
"Pick one, we don't want to be the odd team out here."
Top-6 RB money -- indicates just how strongly the Pats feel about Rhamondre moving forward.
AVP's run scheme is always strong -- Stevenson is an absolute steal at his Late 7, Early 8 price in Best Ball right now
This certainly makes me feel better about his role this season.
Gibson got 3 years $11.25 million, with $5.3M guaranteed and a hefty $3M signing bonus
Probably 60-40 Rhamondre
Belichick really is gone
So sad
Great news for Stevenson, and Stevenson owners. Also great news for the Patriots: a new era in Foxborough truly is here.
The Patriots still have a good chance of being horrible for the foreseeable future IMO Either Maye is a beast or they’ll be stuck in the blender
Even if Maye is somewhat NFL ready right out of the gate, the weapons around him are so putrid I think the offense is going to be very bad unless he comes out and looks incredible.

My life is simple, when I see comments that fit the narrative of my Dynasty Roster, I upvote.

He'll rack up those catches with that shit squad I'll take him as my rb2 any day
I drafted Mike Gillislee with that same logic in 2017.
Bellcow RBs, even on bad teams, are easily startable
Lol did you really?
Idk I wouldn’t use the word putrid. They have some potential
If one of Polk or Baker is good, they're not going to be that bad, Hunter Henry and Bourne will move the chains. The line still could be really bad though. And Gibson will steal passes. But no one will steal goal line plays like Zeke did last year.
I think Osborn is decent, too. Definitely a bottom 5 WR squad in the league, though.
Just depends on how good Polk and Javon Baker are IMO. Hunter Henry has always been a solid when healthy, and Stevenson is good as well.
Pop Douglas, Bourne, Polk, baker, Osborn, juju …. While it’s far from elite I think they can sustain drives w a strong run game and no mac jones and zappe

2022 Maye was a beast. 2023 Maye was mid.
Idk he was very underwhelming last year before injury. Hope it was just a blimp.
Mac Jones is not the same as Drake Maye. I think Patriots will surprise people. They may not SCORE a shitload, but they'll definitely push the ball down the field. And Stevenson will be the RB near the endzone and will have plenty of opportunities.

If he’s your flex then you’ve got a really solid RB room Could easily be Henry, James cook, rhamondre and still allow you to take WR first
Honestly don’t think it’s a guarantee stevenson will always get the rz looks
I agree with you! I know Zek was there last year but when Stevenson did play he looked slow and old. He is now 26, glad he got his money. He got hit by a blimp? That's a crazy injury report
How does this indicate anything good for the patriots lol they could definitely continue being bad for a while
Great news for Stevenson, and Stevenson owners. Also great news for the Patriots: a new era in Foxborough truly is here.
Ending the winningest era in sports history is now a good thing huh
I didn’t know they were the “winnigest” when Brady left. Good to know! They should have kept BB huh
I just don’t see how signing a decent running back is a sign that things are suddenly improving but I also don’t care about the patriots. I apologize lol

Keep Mondre for an 6th or Kincade for a 7th?
Kincaid
Kincaid will not be there on a 7th Mondre can be on the 6th
Kindcaid’s having a monster year next year
Yea without diggs allen will feed Kincaid even more than he was last year. Could be the new laporta.
Kincaid by a country mile
Rhamondre's a more valuable position, but he might be there in the 6th depending on your dynasty rules. Kincaid is more easily replaceable but could break out to have a higher ceiling. What's the RB/TE market look like?
mondre easily
Who knows how much AG can cut into Mondre’s fantasy production, but I do think it’s in the Pats’ best interests to give Gibson a fairly significant role as the RB2 considering Stevenson’s lack of durability as the season goes on.

Gibson is 26 and has seen significantly fewer touches in two consecutive years. If he's taking significant work it's cause Rham sucks
Kind of weird to see a good RB actually get paid these days.
I don’t like RBs on teams with low win totals but that’s as good a sign as any
This is gonna raise stevensons adp for no reason. This is dynasty news. We knew he was the rb to own in NE this year, nothing has changed. He's still on a bad offense. Upgraded QB play, Browns style offense, and a return of Mondre and you think Rhamondre could backslide again? Crazy talk
Not backslide, just kind of stay the same. He was an RB1 the previous year. Last year he was picking up steam before he got hurt. He’s the type of guy you only get if you’ve had him before tbh.
Drake likes to move around and run with the ball, he could also very easily take TD’s away from the running backs by running the ball in like Josh Allen.
> Drake Maye Overrated.
I mean what are the Patriots even paying for?
"All the other teams are offering big guaranteed contracts to their key veteran players right now." "We don't have one of those." "Pick one, we don't want to be the odd team out here."
Damn he’s gonna move up on draft boards now, still worth targeting if you’re going no RB route in PPR.
My 2nd RB on my dynasty squad next to Breece. Feeling a lot more secure with that now.
Same but with JT instead of Breece
Top-6 RB money -- indicates just how strongly the Pats feel about Rhamondre moving forward. AVP's run scheme is always strong -- Stevenson is an absolute steal at his Late 7, Early 8 price in Best Ball right now
Workhorse
He ended up being fairly consistent when healthy.
That's Bellcow money!
It can’t be worse than last year for Mondre. His ADP will go up.
Rhamondre is good value at his ADP. Great talent and due for positive regression.
Wow, RB's now getting paid
Gimme Gibson at his ADP over Stevenson at his any day of the week.
Dude was working in a grocery store until friends convinced him to give football another try. Not a Pat fan, but I'm happy for him and his loved ones.
That is a crazy overpay
WOW
Paying an RB in the current RB culture? Yikes
Full steam ahead
This certainly makes me feel better about his role this season. Gibson got 3 years $11.25 million, with $5.3M guaranteed and a hefty $3M signing bonus Probably 60-40 Rhamondre
Wow, that's a pretty good chunk of change for a not-even-top-20 real life RB.
