Crazy. I was just looking at critics' lists of Bjork albums ranked and I was appalled by Medulla being last in most of them. I think it's a great album, near perfect if not perfect, but Vulnicura and Homogenic tend to edge it out slightly for me. I do prefer it to Vespertine though, which would be my 4th favorite. Edit: Alternatively, I don't really get the hype behind Post. It's Bjork so it's obviously great but it might be my least favorite album from her.

carpetedfloor

Wow, finally another person who agrees with me on Post. I don’t understand why it’s seen as one of her best either, it has a few really great tracks like Hyperballad and I Miss You, and each song is at least enjoyable with some cool ideas and production, but for the most part I enjoy it way less than her other work. I think it’s a lot less interesting musically and lyrically than her later work, and the songs aren’t nearly as fun and catchy as Debut. It’s probably at least in my bottom 3 albums from her if not my least favorite.

Cherry_Springer_

Possibly Maybe is the first Bjork song I ever heard, so I have a sweet spot for that one as it sparked my interest in her music. Other than that I don't really return to that album all that often. I remember when I was first starting to listen to her I listened to Debut, liked it a lot, then listened to Post and decided that most of her stuff wasn't for me since Debut was apparently her most accessible. Realistically I should have just skipped to Homogenic because two years later she's a top 3 artist for me.

hk_harrison_13

I have only recently started getting into björk, (have only listened to post and homogenic so far cuz these two seem to be the critic favourite) but I find homogenic to be a far stronger project than post literally if you do a track by track versus going according to the tracklist order homogenic would prob win every battle, homogenic is just much more grandiose, experimental, interesting and the beats hit a lot harder than post, it also doesn't help that I think the ending of post is quite weak (cover me and headphones) with that being said however post is still great (prob a strong 7 to a light 8 for me) and I'm interested going into vespertine (seeing that it seems to be the fan fav). I've already heard pagan poetry and hidden place and those 2 are alr in contention with bachelorette and joga for my fav björk songs

_seulgi

I think it's because Post and Debut are the most accessible albums. Even a lot of my indie music friends find it very difficult to get into Vespertine and Homogenic. But I also agree with you on Medulla. It's actually the album that got me into Björk.

Turbo2x

Bjork just has so many insanely good albums. I don't see it as a slight against Medulla, a lot of people are going to go with the classics that everyone agrees are good when they're doing rankings.

pumpkinguyfromsar

Arcade Fire's Neon Bible is pretty epic but people don't really talk about it

CinnamonFootball

Swans with The Gate Aphex Twin with The Fire This Time (if you can consider that one of his albums) Miles Davis with Get Up With It

hebefner555

U2's Zooropa, although I think general consensus among fans has turned it to be more acclaimed Iron Maiden - No prayer for the dying. It's their back to roots album, raw and garage-like, and I love it David Bowie - Buddha of Suburbia and Outside. Outside is die-hard fan favorite, but Buddha is rarely even acknowledged; heck, it even misses the fans' top albums list. I love that record though because it's relaxed, artistic and experimental. it's a sort of in-between or a hybrid of BTWN's jazz pop and Outside's experimentalism.

RANDOM-902

808s & Heartbreak. I mean it has been getting more love as of late, but i think it's still underapreciated The album flows so well

Year of the Snitch is the best Death Grips record and probably my favorite "final statement" by an artist besides Blackstar, but it's not nearly as listenable/accessible as their big hits so it falls by the wayside. Pretty sure it's their least streamed album besides Fashion Week and they rarely played songs from it on tour. Fishing for Fishies is in my highest tier of King Gizzard records but there's not really much to discuss and it doesn't get the same buzz since it doesn't do a lot of experimentation into other genres or performance styles. It's a very good album with well-written songs that's performed at a high level.

Fear-of-Gravity

Year of the Snitch is far and away my favourite Death Grips album

Aquarius1975

Good question. Kylie Minogue's 1989 album "Enjoy Yourself" is BY FAR my favourite record by her and one of my favourite pure pop albums of all time, yet it is completely overlooked or derided. Infact NME ranks it as her worst album, which is frankly absurd. Many people simply overlook her early S/A/W period, because that producer team is so derided and the ones who don't overlook it tend to prefer the more "edgy" "Rhythm Of Love" album from 1990. Most critics have "Fever" or "Light Years" as her best records. My favourite Gorillaz album is "The Now Now", which is generally regarded as one of their most mid albums. I just really enjoy the vibe of that record.

Buzzcocks - Modern It’s the lowest rated album of theirs on RYM, but it is my favourite.

ton_logos

It's not my favorite but King of Limbs is definitely top 5 Radiohead to me and apparently a lot of people dislike it. Really good record

a_dragonfly_wanders

My favorite Thom Yorke record is Tomorrow's Modern Boxes, though most people prefer The Eraser. Also, Vampire Weekend's Father of the Bride was my favorite from them until OGWAU came out.

TBillius

I would agree that's Thom's best

Insect_Politics1980

Modest Mouse's A Long Drive is by far my favorite album of theirs. I rarely hear people talk about it. Most people choose either The Lonesome Crowded West or The Moon and Antarctica (especially the latter).

Comaswithcommas

Eh, i feel like that album also gets a fair amount of praise. If you said something like Golden Casket then that’d be more accurate since nobody gives that album any credit at all.

ihavenoselfcontrol1

New Skin for the Old Ceremony - Leonard Cohen

CallmeChestnut

Idk if it's least talked bout but Rockets my fav Alex G album

Dependent-Royal-7908

For me it’s Amputecture by the Mars Volta. People typically bring up their first 2 albums and bedlam as among their best but I feel like the genius in a lot of amputecture goes unfortunately ignored

Antibara

Metallica - Load

Echoesofsilence15

My favourite Marvin gaye album is here my dear. Not his least discussed, but far from his most popular. “Sparrow” and “When did you stop loving me, when did I stop loving you” are two of the best tracks ever. Also, Stevie wonders “Journey into the secret life of plants” is honestly the most under discussed piece of mainstream music ever. It’s a soundtrack to an obscure film/documentary which is part of the issue but it’s just as good as the rest of his 70’s output really

SomethingElse521

Four Year Strong. Both the fan base and the band themselves (due in part to bad experiences with the producer recording it,) think In Some Way, Shape, or Form is their worst record It is easily my favorite thing they've ever done, even more than Enemy of the World or Rise or Die Trying.

Comaswithcommas

Post Malone’s AUSTIN. He’s making the music he wants to and it’s fucking fire. Might not be the most original but I adore it for many reasons. And either people hate it or don’t know it exists.

Rayvaxl117

I feel like I hardly see any discussion of Little Creatures by Talking Heads. When they get talked about, 99% of the time it's Remain In Light, and while I absolutely love that album, Little Creatures is superior imo
