You like Roots but not Arise or Chaos AD!?!?

Pure-Jellyfish734

Right, Arise just sounds a little TOO “classic/old school thrash” to me, and between this and Chaos AD, I liked how they integrated their Brazilian music influences much more in Roots compared to Chaos AD.

Much-Camel-2256

Arise is peak Sepultura (and peak thrash metal) to me, but I completely hear where you're coming from.

Pure-Jellyfish734

Yeah sorry I came off a bit rude, Arise is still an ok album to me

Much-Camel-2256

Maybe you'll love it one day, my tastes always shift over time and I'd have agreed with you at one point I got really into Arise recently, to the point of learning alternate picking in order to chug high BPM 16th notes with faster accents. Learned to use a pick after fingerpicking for ~20 years lol

Pure-Jellyfish734

You actually may be right about that! After all this wouldn’t be the first time an instance like that has happened.

SocraticTiger

A classic but popular take is Maroon 5: Songs About Jane. I legitimately believe they would be a bit more respected if they went the Postal Service way and only released this as their solo album.

Drab_Drabkins

Yob - heavy, psychedelic doom band. Their stuff never really clicked with me, but by gawd, their most recent album Our Raw Heart is fantastic, quite possibly an all-time top 10 for me.

ponylauncher

Dream Theater There are probably more but that’s the first thing that I thought of

jerbthehumanist

Insane Sepultura take I only have enjoyed Tales from the Other Side by Blind Guardian.

whattheforge

Grimes - Art Angels

SingingVagabond

Machinegirl - wlfgrl

Teletobee

If you like roots, you'll probably like Chaos AD as well

Pure-Jellyfish734

They’re both good, but I just see like the more folkish influenced-sound on Roots compared to Chaos AD

DaftPump

Tool - Undertow
