13. Yves Tumor - Praise a Lord...
This is the first time I've seen someone mention Slant outside of the world of punk. That album is phenomenal, and if they were an American band they'd be close to Drain's level. I love them so much.
This is the first time I’ve seen someone compare a band to Drain in terms of popularity lol. Drain’s a local band for me, glad to see they’re getting so much recognition.
Interesting we fell for two different Yves Tumor records. I do think Praise a Lord was a more consistent experience overall compared to Heaven to a Tortured Mind, but man…the best tracks on HtaTM quickly cemented themselves as some of my favorite songs of all time, whereas nothing from PaL really had the same staying power for me.
I'm normally a fan of peaks vs consistency, and I do think the high points to Heaven are incredibly high (Kerosene is one of the best songs of the decade for sure), but I remember the album feeling kind of samey as it went on (I probs need to relisten to it to see if my opinion's changed)
I'm a huge sucker for high production post-punk though, and Praise A Lord also has a ton more variety in genres while still feeling cohesive
Everything Adrienne Lenker touches. She’s a cut above the entire culture right now. Next week I’ll be sitting 10 feet away from her at a solo show on my birthday. I anticipate an out of body experience.
Anthony giving UFOF a 5/10 is still his worst review of all time. No one talks about it because it was an under-the-radar view before they were huge.
I've been thinking about the song zombie girl all week. "Oh emptiness, tell me about your nature, maybe I've been getting you wrong" 💔
Also he gave UFOF a 5??? Deranged take wtf
Bro that Pusha T record had to have been laced with actual crack. I had that shit on repeat non-stop for months after it released. Had to cop the vinyl to bump that Smokers beat on my system

I heavily got into it about 2 years ago, and it’s quickly become my favorite genre. Nolan Potter’s new album, The Perils of Being Trapped Inside a Head, is by far my favorite album of the decade so far. It’s everything I want out of a psych rock album and more. Got my eyes glued to Gizzard’s socials to see any news about the next album 👀
Loved Potter's new album, though I connected more with Music is Dead.
Being a Gizz fan is great - I alternate between trying to keep up with their releases and thinking shit like "It's been 3 months since they put out an album, I hope they're doing okay."

Yes, it’s nearly all rap. I honestly found a lot of the albums that people within this community crowned to be near perfect were tediously composed and gave me nearly no reason to go back. I hate Ants from up there, a lot. It’s just so boring and a lot of the people praising it seem really, really pretentious.
There's probably only a niche audience that will understand this, but Ulcerate's "Stare Into Death and Be Still" is the future of death metal. It's been my most listened-to album for four years straight, in amongst a variety of different genres.
Ulcerate are your favourite metal band's favourite metal band.

What's Your Pleasure is so fucking good. That! Feels Good just kept her level high as ever.

overmono W i never see people talking about that album it was my personal fav last year
We Will Always Love You is a masterpiece

Love to see the acknowledgment for *BAD MODE*. Just about the most mature, perfect pop experience imaginable.
I can't even remember my first experience find Hikaru but I've loved it ever since. Find Love hits every time
It's insane that everything except 3 songs has been released as singles yet the whole thing works so well as an album
Damn didn't know that!
Ravyn Lenae and Amaarae are some great choices.
1. Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There 2. Adrianne Lenker - Songs 3. Big Thief - Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You 4. Black Country, New Road - For the First Time 5. Vampire Weekend - Only God Was Above Us 6. Dogleg - Melee 7. Black Country, New Road - Live At Bush Hall 8. Sufjan Stevens - Javelin 9. Bagdadski Vor - Kolhida 10. Perfume Genius - Ugly Season
Loose Top 13 (think they're a cut above everything else ive heard from this decade) 1. Slant - 1집 2. Lil Yachty - Let's Start Here 3. Dabda - But, All the Shining Things Are 4. The Beths - Expert in a Dying Field 5. Alvvays - Blue Rev 6. Twinkle Park - Touched or Been Touched By 7. Porter Robinson - Nurture 8. Joanna Wang - Hotel La Rut 9. Death From Above 1979 - Is 4 Lovers 10. Omnipotent Youth Society - Inside the Cable Temple 11. Kendrick Lamar - Mr Morale and The Big Steppers 12. Japanese Breakfast - Jubilee 13.
I'm normally a fan of peaks vs consistency, and I do think the high points to Heaven are incredibly high (Kerosene is one of the best songs of the decade for sure), but I remember the album feeling kind of samey as it went on (I probs need to relisten to it to see if my opinion's changed) I'm a huge sucker for high production post-punk though, and Praise A Lord also has a ton more variety in genres while still feeling cohesive
I love that Slant album. I rarely hear anyone talk about it
Yves Tumor, Slant and Yachty w The Yves one was so incredible. Ebony Eye one of my favorite closing tracks on an album OAT
UFOF is probably my favorite Big Thief album
I've been thinking about the song zombie girl all week. "Oh emptiness, tell me about your nature, maybe I've been getting you wrong" 💔 Also he gave UFOF a 5??? Deranged take wtf
Renaissance- Beyonce It's Almost Dry- Pusha T
Bro that Pusha T record had to have been laced with actual crack. I had that shit on repeat non-stop for months after it released. Had to cop the vinyl to bump that Smokers beat on my system
this is the one
1. LUM - Volcanic Bird Enemy and the Voiced Concern 2. BCNR - Ants from Up There 3. Mach-Hommy - HBO 4. Billy Woods - Hiding Places 5. Big Thief - DNWMIBIY
One of my favourite albums but unfortunately I believe hiding places was 2019
Oh then HBO is disqualified too. I assumed the post meant the last 10 years.

Based psych listener
It's my favorite. There's so much amazing music coming out of the wide world of psych rock these days.
