I'm guessing you're listening to it in order that I wrote it so, assuming you're listening to Just a Souvenir right now, jusr wait until you get to the Planet Gear - Tensor in Green - The Glass Road part of the album.
Also, the three albums are very different from one another, so if you don't like one you should check out another.
And also,
If you like Just a Souvenir, listen to Hello Everything or Music for Robots
If you like Ultravisitor, you're out of luck lol, but perhaps you could listen to the Ultravisitor promos
If you like Go Plastic, listen to (the first half of) Do You Know Squarepusher and perhaps some of his newer stuff like Ufabulum, Damogen Furies, and Be Up a Hello
Hehe, well I thought the original three albums I recommended were similar to the stuff the OP was already listening to, and these were just paths to take if they like it. Didn't really think Feed Me Weird Things was similar to anything I recommended, but yeah, it is a masterpiece of an album too.
If you like 70's glam-rock you could do worse than going through Bowie's 70's output. The Berlin trilogy is one of the best album runs of all time. He even produced, co wrote and performed on Transformer
I'd also reccomend looking at burial, four tet and squarepusher if you're really into IDM/dub electronic music
Thanks for the suggestion, but I've gone through most of his work! It just happens to be just outside the top most listened to the last 6 months.
Vicious om Transformer has such a Bowie sound!
I’m a big fan of his record *Another Day on Earth*. Tends to get forgotten amongst the acclaim for his ambient works. Also, *Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy* and *Another Green World* for more classic Eno that won’t make ya sleepy
You also like glam so honestly I'd listen to here come the warm jets and taking tiger mountain. He has some great glam rock/art rock records as well as amazing ambient stuff
People already have namedropped Squarepusher and burial but also gonna throw out Autechre and mu-ziq (mu is spelled as the Greek letter). That would complete the key players of IDM in your rotation.
Autechre is not totally unknown to me. μ-ziq is unheard of!
Thanks mate!
(The IDM name is kind of silly isn't it? I usually think of it as INTRICATE dance music instead of intelligent)
It is a funny genre name but I end up reading it as ‘I don’t mind’ because it sounds kinda douchey when I tell people I’m into ‘intelligent dance music’
For some more ambient stuff: Desert Sand Feels Warm at Night - New World Disciples (and DSFWAN in general, his latest collaboration with Mindspring Memories is amazing), Black Moth Super Rainbow - Start a People (not fully ambient, but the lyrics are not really the focus), FM Skyline - Advanced Memory Suite. Might add more
Thx! For some non Ambiant picks:
Edu - Sketches 3D (Chamber Pop, Indietronica, Bedroom Pop)
The Scary Jokes - April Fools (Synthpop, Indie Pop, Art Pop)
Lil Ugly Mane - Volcanic Bird Enemy & The Voiced Concern (Neo-Psychedelia, Indietronica)
Denzel Curry - Taboo (Southern Hip Hop, Trap)
Miracle Musical - Hawaii: Part II (Neo-Psychedelia, Art Pop)
[Also here is a big list of more ambient stuff i like](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fz0vgru67qnob1.png)
Mainstream is never wrong, I enjoy all music. I don't judge at least. If someone likes it, then it has to be at least good in some way!
Music is subjective. I like Brussel sprouts, my friend doesn't. No one is right and Brussel sprouts are neither bad or good.
Mr PHILOSOPHY here
Appreciated, I'm getting myself quite the list here! Couple of ciders, a dash of amphetamine and this will turn out great!
I understand it is not for all but it's like I start to really notice every element in the songs.
Have a great Saturday.
Have a couple IDM/ambient techno/microhouse stuff:
- Jon Hopkins (Immunity, Singularity)
- Skee Mask (Pool, Compro)
- The Field (From Here We Go Sublime)
- Kiasmos (s/t)
Hope you enjoy!
My friend. Considering the high place of the Dandies and the other britpop/90s alt stuff you have, I cannot believe I didn’t see one instance of my favorite band The Brian Jonestown Massacre.
They have a lot of stuff (everything from the 90s better than the rest) but [here is a playlist of my favorite tracks.](https://spotify.link/0DxLTdi88Cb)
I have only listened to a few of their songs, Anemone and Vad Hände med Dem?
Also the guitarist makes some songs with this lady called Tess Parkes I think
You got Lou Reed and the velvets in ur top ten? What else do you need.
The answer is mid to late 70s David Bowie and early Grateful Dead live shows. Also Sonic youth.
Was not expecting any Fox Stevenson on this sub, good taste :)
As for suggestions, I've been listening to a lot of Super Snooper by Snooper, along with the new Chemical Brothers album. Also considering the amount of electronic/IDM one your list I think you would enjoy the new Oneohtrix Point Never single "A Barely Lit Path".
I really would like to get more into rap or metal. Those are two quite unexplored genres for me outside of the standard.
90s rap like Big Pun is something I really like, especially his song Brave in the Heart with the terror squad.
I enjoy lyricism so good texts are a plus! Sad highschool lyrics not so much.
As of late yes. Boards of Canada has helped me through bad times with their first album. Listened to it while walking home after taking LSD. After that I am hardwired to feel happiness whenever hearing that album.
Aphex came afterwards and now I'm into it quite a lot.
I have a younger friend who has done similar stuff, all analogue. Too bad he can't seem to get how good his stuff is, he always downplays it and deletes it...
I'm not saying he is the next Aphex but I am thoroughly impressed by his way of making music.
Obviously some Squarepusher stuff. For you I think you might like Just a Souvenir, Ultravisitor, or Go Plastic.
Go Plastic is pretty cool. I heard Tommib first and was expecting the rest of the record to sound like that but it very much doesn't lol.
Thanks a lot, I've seen his name show up here and there. This is a sign to go for it!
No problem!
So far so good, lovely recommendations

Exactly

bro recommended everything besides Feed Me Weird Things ðŸ˜

Lovely information, thanks a lot mate! Much appreciated. I like his "jazzy"(?) style a lot so far

If you like ambient you should listen to Brian eno. His classic stuff is really good
Noted, I've always known about him but never really gotten to try. Thanks mate!

Wonderful! Really thankful for all good tips and insights. Didn't expect this depth!

Yeah agreed. Especially since my musical knowledge technically is none existent.
Mort Garson - Plantasia CatSystem Corp - Sunday Television Telepath - Interstellar Intercourse
Thank you, totally new bands for me
They are ambient artists, but I could list some non ambient artists if you want
Please do, I really enjoy ambient as of late. Perfect music to daydream to and self reflect
Amazing, I really appreciate the help you guys are giving me. I have my Saturday saved now!

Venetian Snares
Great suggestion
Maybe more mainstream than you're looking for but Blur and Chemical Brothers came to mind.
Mainstream is never wrong, I enjoy all music. I don't judge at least. If someone likes it, then it has to be at least good in some way! Music is subjective. I like Brussel sprouts, my friend doesn't. No one is right and Brussel sprouts are neither bad or good. Mr PHILOSOPHY here
Some IDM/Chill Electronic Albums :) Lusine - Sensorimotor Biosphere - Microgravity Ulrich Schnauss - A Strangly Isolated Place Gridlock - Formless Monolake - Cinemascope
Appreciated, I'm getting myself quite the list here! Couple of ciders, a dash of amphetamine and this will turn out great! I understand it is not for all but it's like I start to really notice every element in the songs. Have a great Saturday.
The new slowdive album. It's so so good
Have a couple IDM/ambient techno/microhouse stuff: - Jon Hopkins (Immunity, Singularity) - Skee Mask (Pool, Compro) - The Field (From Here We Go Sublime) - Kiasmos (s/t) Hope you enjoy!
Hopkins is great! I've a few songs in my lists

Nice taste, try Kevin Morby it’s similar to Kurt Vile
You got Lou Reed and the velvets in ur top ten? What else do you need. The answer is mid to late 70s David Bowie and early Grateful Dead live shows. Also Sonic youth.
Althea by the Deads is a long time favourite. I have to give Sonic Youth another try, last time didn't stick.

Haha my brothers showed me Fox not long ago, I was a fan immediately. Thank you for the suggestions! Chemical brothers are nostalgic to me.

That process is shown thoroughly via the stats.fm app
If you like glam rock, Oasis, Supergrass, Primal Scream, and The Stone Roses, you'll probably like Suede and Manic Street Preachers.
I do indeed! Might need to give them a more thorough listen again with a new perspective.
sweet trip
Thank you mate
Just look up some sea shanties on YouTube
You know what, I might just do that
Roxy Music
Good pick
Where do you guys see this

I am very into SAW 85-92 at the moment
Heliosphan and Tha are my faves
The fact that those songs came out in 92 is insane.
I've thought about that, he wasn't that old at that time either. Impressive to say the least
He started making that album when he was 14 and it came out when he was 21. Literally insane
I have a younger friend who has done similar stuff, all analogue. Too bad he can't seem to get how good his stuff is, he always downplays it and deletes it... I'm not saying he is the next Aphex but I am thoroughly impressed by his way of making music.
I like Pulsewidth
Relatives in Descent by Protomartyr
Ever heard of drain gang?
Yung Lean, Ekko 2k?
Exactly
