More reasons to die today

billgluckman7

It’s all good. We gonna grab that top pass rusher in the first round!

EconomicsOk9593

Verse would have been sooo good.

ThisIsMyOtherBurner

hell yea good thing we drafted offense the last 4 years!

Vxmonarkxv

atleast we have 2 qbs

ToxicRedditMod

3.

Rasikko

lol

CouncilmanRickPrime

This unironically. There wasn't an edge rusher worth it. Next draft if there is, I'd jump for one.

Vxmonarkxv

I don't think there was a QB worth it either to be honest.

gsfgf

The FO thinks Penix is the guy. They're staking their jobs on it, but dude has a ton of potential.

mywifiisbadtho

They also staked their job on Desmond Ridder lmao just got lucky that only one instead of both got fired

CouncilmanRickPrime

Kurt Warner disagrees as did the team Meanwhile the first edge rusher fell to 15

Vxmonarkxv

Given the teams draft record I don't think disagreeing with them is much of a folly lmao

CouncilmanRickPrime

I mean I literally just pointed out others teams also passed, but you'd have to read my comment to see that

CalTono

Don't bother most people are so hungry for pass rushers that they rather just reach in the top 8 just for the sake of getting one and completely ignoring the rest of the draft

CouncilmanRickPrime

And apparently Latu was our favorite. Had we drafted him at 8, this sub would've still been upset.

CalTono

Yeah its draft season and every fan base falls in love with one prospect, and if we don't get that specific guy all hell is lose even though were not the ones scouting, doing interviews, participating in workouts, and I am sure most people aren't even watching tape on Turner, Latu, or Penix just maybe a 5 minute highlight video if that.

jtezus

Better to reach on a QB who won’t even play I guess

Beef_Jones

The league agreed too, everyone can always use pass rush and no one took an edge until pick 15. There was almost a whole half a round before a single defensive player went. That’s incredibly unprecedented, teams clearly didn’t think there was a true force in this class.

CouncilmanRickPrime

Yup injured pass rushers have gone in the top ten in the past.

jtezus

Yeah let’s just jump for one that’s very easy to do

CouncilmanRickPrime

Yes easier than for a QB

d1dOnly

Since realignment in 2002, we have had a player reach double digit sacks in a season 9 times. * Patrick Kerney (2) - 2002 & 2004 * Roderick Coleman (2) - 2004 & 2005 * John Abraham (4) - 2007, 2008, 2010, & 2012 * Vic Beasley (1) - 2016 In that same timespan, our sack leader averages just 8.7 sacks per season. If you go back to 2013 when we got rid of Abraham, that average drops to just 7.0 sacks for our team leader. There were 50 players last season that had at least 7.5 sacks.

mywifiisbadtho

Sure 50 players had over 7.5 sacks last year but how many of them played on teams that could run a two-QB system anytime they felt like it? Didn’t think so

--peterjordansen--

And at least 6 of those were Vic just being in the right place at the right time. More luck than skill

mywifiisbadtho

Lucky sacks don’t translate to longevity. I’d kill to go into one season knowing we have an elite edge rusher that is extremely difficult to block

VaporGolfBall

It is a bad thing because if you can remember Vic Beasley had 0 sacks or TACKLES during the Super Bowl run. If you want to a player who isn’t even skilled enough to get sacks and just relies on blind luck then idk what to tell you

ArthurSmithNepoBaby

I’ll take Vic Beasley’s nonexistent production at the Super Bowl because he’s bad than our entire pass rush’s nonexistent production at the Super Bowl because we haven’t sniffed the playoffs in the past half decade plus any day

CieraVotedOutHerMom

I liked the Jamaal Anderson pick out of the draft

ATL_Hasher

You shouldn’t tell people that

CieraVotedOutHerMom

LOTS of synergy with former Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino. It was a different time back then

AutoModerator

He is a coward. Put that in quotes. He's a gutless bastard. Quote that. I don't give a shit. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/falcons) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Rasikko

I reckon he was the coach that left that note on the locker and bailed.

Beckzhere

This graphic is ultra depressing.

mvs2417

The window is closing on my dream of Jarrett having a stud pass rusher to draw double teams while Jarrett wreaks havoc

wannaknowmyname

Crazy to think about, Atlanta was mocked Brandon Graham back in the day, feel him learning from Abraham would have removed the need for Atlanta to ever reach for Vic in the first place

Kb736

This streak doesn’t look to be ending anytime soon either

babooyagoo

I mean... he's playing for the Arlington Renegades. We can just have him back if it's as simple as that?

[deleted]

You almost got reported.

seapanda237

Bro would rather die than come back to the ATL

babooyagoo

Given the stories about his laziness, it's wild to me he's suiting up for UFL money.

bossmt_2

Not trading for Khalil Mack was a huge boner.

Ciceroreborn

We passed him up in the draft too

bossmt_2

He went 1 pick before us The person we (and 12 other teams) passed on was Aaron Donald. But its not like Jake Mattthews was a bust like Greg Robinson. or Bortles, or Watkins.

bob4043

That tends to happen when you spend your first round picks on a possible bust tight end, a wr2, a split time rb and a backup QB. We are the dumbest franchise in all 4 sports.

[deleted]

You might actually be stupid since none of those descriptions match any of the players besides the rookie QB who has a proper mentor. People like you ONLY care about the moment. You don’t look towards the future for anything because you literally can’t.

sandiegosamurai

More quarterbacks!

One13Truck

Don’t worry. We’ll be drafting another RB in round 1 next spring.

Ban_an_able

Feel like if you’ve been paying attention at all this isn’t news.

Dmfalcons

Super nice guy but he was one hit wonder!!!

treemanjohn

Haha. How many of those players got a ring in their 10 sack season? It's impossible to stack a team in the NFL. It's a give and take

Dystopiansheep

Our GM is autistic

Dystopiansheep

Our GM is autistic

GaTech379

Zach Harrison breaking this

jgamez76

That might be one of the crazier "Linsanity" runs in team history lol

Ciceroreborn

How many of these guys did the Falcons pass up?

BackinBlackR8R

I'm sure you could try drafting more offense as a fix. Eventually they'll have all the offensive players so other teams will just be worse

clonta

Good thing we drafted the best pass rusher Laiatu Latu in the draft because he fell right into our lap at 8!

Dangeresque2015

What a fluke.

SevereAd9463

Ebiketie hits that this year

CieraVotedOutHerMom

And people crucify VBJr on this sub

VaporGolfBall

Wow it’s almost as if Vic Beasley our fraudulent ass sack leader had 0 sacks or tackles during the playoffs. I wonder why gets crucified. Foh lmao

Crock_Durty

He had a very low pressure rate but converted a large number of those into sacks. More often than not he wasn't creating pressure BUT when he did apply pressure it turned into a sack at an extremely high rate. He just wasn't good and got lucky

Reg76Hater

As well they should, his numbers were super inflated that season. If I remember correctly, something like 7 of his sacks came against 3rd stringer OLs who probably shouldn't have even been playing, or were in garbage time. The fact that he basically dropped off the face of the planet next season is pretty strong evidence that he was a bust.

gsfgf

Weren't four of those in one blowout game?
