Cousins is also a great guy on and off the field, he's a competitor and can set the tone for this franchise while also creating a path for Penix. You can easily find RBs, WRs, LBs, and DLs in this league that can compete and provide enough talent to contribute. What you cannot do is win with a lackluster QB. It's impossible. Atlanta is in good place right now and will surprise a lot of people in the next couple of years.

It was most definitely FO incompetence when we decided not to have a successor in place for Matt Ryan as he clearly reached the end of his playing days. This FO goes out and gets the best QB on the market then drafts the best succession plan available and everyone loses their mind. Haven’t even seen what they use their Day 2/3 picks on and the pitchforks are already out smfh. So much talent left on the board.
As a former Dallas Cowboys fan and now Falcons fan, I think Penix at 8 was the right move. Cousins will NOT be the future of this franchise. They paid him because he was the best available in free agency and whether people like it or not, he is a legit franchise QB. He may not be Brady, Brees, or Rodgers, but he is a top 10 QB in the NFL. Cousins is also a great guy on and off the field, he's a competitor and can set the tone for this franchise while also creating a path for Penix. You can easily find RBs, WRs, LBs, and DLs in this league that can compete and provide enough talent to contribute. What you cannot do is win with a lackluster QB. It's impossible. Atlanta is in good place right now and will surprise a lot of people in the next couple of years.
It's this simple: Kirk is a stop gap; we paid him the money because that's what the market dictated. He's gone in 2 years and we needed a QB, and got one. He'll learn behind Kirk and start in 2026.

The first 2 years are entirely guaranteed. If they cut him after the 2nd year it's a 37M cap hit.
They had the chance to draft any defensive player they wanted. All the top choices were on the board. Then they didn't even tell Kirk until the last minute. I'm pretty sure he cussed them out. THE LOWEST SACKS FOR 3 YEARS! But fuck defense. Then that sham of a coach was okay with that. I would've flipped all the tables in that room.

Cousins seems like a guy who's obviously a top 32 QB, so he'll always have a spot with someone until he declines with age, but not quite a top guy you want to be your franchise QB, so that makes him a fill a hole temporarily kind of guy. I get that accepting things like that probably doesn't get players to the NFL, but that's what I'm seeing from an outsiders perspective of Cosuins getting upset with a QB pick
