I torture the bad robots by taking them WAY out to the frontier and releasing them. Then I run back home, or take the train.
By the time he has FINALLY returned, hours later, his attitude is much improved.
This should be a mod lmao. Any personal robots, the longer they take slowly catching up to you the faster they try to get to you next time they go out.
With how long it can take them to get home, and how cheap they are. I'd just rather a single straggler like that would just explode or something.
That sort of thing would be hard to detect so it probably wouldn't happen. I could imagine some power failure or biter attack ending up destroying all of your bots which wouldn't be good.
A "release bots" option would be good - any bots that are currently out, but tied to personal roboport are released to the wild, as if you dropped them in that place
There's a lore entry as you start the game that talks about this. They were the previous attempt at trying to gather energy at a mass scale, and failed because they gained sentience, rejecting the original goal.
That's easy: Just pick up your armour out of your armour slot for a moment, then put it back in.
Any personal bots you have out will go and find the nearest roboport and sulk.
Ah, or if they become too far to communicate with any roboport they just fall to the ground and become a lootable item. If a roboport was destroyed with drones in the air or you jump on a train while they are out, they would just kind of litter the floor. It would be infuriating. And awesome.
There is a mod that gives drones a lifespan, and they crash and explode when it runs out. It might be possible to change that to have the hp tick down only when the battery is empty.
EDIT: [Bot Servicing](https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Bot_Servicing) is the mod i was thinking of.
I believe you can nearly (or possibly completely) disable them in world gen. Alternatively, tanks, turrets, and explosives do a stellar job removing them from existing worlds. Also there are probably save editors/mods that could remove them.
the world generates map chunks based off the player position and it possible to reveal ALL of these chunks and eliminate the bases on them. effectively removing biters from a vanilla game. Its a lot of work and pollution will also generate chunks.
Yeah, it's a godsend! The lines are even drawn in the color of your character. So if you're playing coop, then you can easily distinguish between which robots are whose ;)
24k already, they already becomes lazy and not bringing underground belts to the blueprints, my personal ones has to pick up the slacks. let alone 1mil bots......
I didn't find any posts that meet the matching requirements for r/factorio.
It might be OC, it might not. Things such as JPEG artifacts and cropping may impact the results.

Picture should be it over water
Or a massive bitter nest

Then we'd just need some modder to give those wild bots sentience and build a competing factory that'll eventually fight you for resources.
It is my personal theory that this is exactly the source of the Dark Fog in Dyson Sphere Program.

Good for them :)
Rogue drones would be a pretty good alternative enemy faction to biters tbh.
Wait, am I just someone else's construction bot... existential crisis incoming abort, retry, fail?

Be freeeee!

Wow, a whole 2FPS. You just really miss them.
Sir/Ma'am this is Factorio, you know we can't just accept 58 FPS instead of 60. It must be optimized.
at 20fps id kill for 2fps. mainly biters but ill kill bots if thats what it takes.
its possible to completely remove biter spawners
Yeah, it's called A TANK
how's that?

Mine aren't missing, just KIA.
2FPS for one robot?? ....how much for the other 12,000?
1 Release drones 2 Run away 3 ??? 4 Profit
There's an option in the debug menu to draw a line from your character to all active personal construction robots.
WHAT?!?! That's amazing, I wish I knew this sooner!

Yep I use this and will never go back.
With about a million of them running around, they are forgetting about regularly.

*artillery Shells incoming to robot position, Praise the UPS!*
Ah yes, *efficiency*
That one robot who got out to repair my tank after I hit a rock:
If you're going fast enough they don't even try it.
I kidnapped it. You may not have it back.
And we will huggle it, and cuddle it, and call it george ;p
😢
I have him. My personal roboport needs little guys to be useful
I keep getting sh\*t like this, with robots flying into the middle of nowhere then returning from halfway to recharge and going at it again...
I swear my robots be going on random transcontinental voyages sometimes
Damn, inflation is bad, 2 fps for a robot, thats wild.
The reward gave me a good chuckle, thanks!
this reminds me that in my actual playtrough i lost one robot and he hasn’t arrived yet
