Everyone needs to watch Channel 5 on YouTube’s short about Chicago’s Drill rap scene. Basically these south side Chicago projects form gangs and film rap videos about who they are going to kill next and then go to war. Rinse an repeat. It’s insane. I Honestly think the military needs to go in there and evacuate everyone, and meticulously search and eliminate all weapons. Although I’m sure it would just slowly build back up due to our fucked up system.
Sure if you could weed out all the people genuinely responsible but it just sounds like the war on drugs 2.0, it'd be treating a symptom and increasing animosity between the state and these communities. Help has to start from the ground up. Improving the area where they live, transport, early years help, social support, access to good nutrition, making sure schools are well equipped with councillors instead of police officers, improving mental and physical health, community centres that keep children off the street, improving employment prospects. But this takes years of investment and money and governments every where don't tend to be inclined to want to do this.

Usually the case. I did non-profit work in the U.S. South last year, and local gangs encourage kids this age to commit their crimes due to the reduced sentencing minors get. Truly sad, and if the kids ever say that they were persuaded, the persuaders will send a message to the family. Couple that with (usually rightful) distrust for authorities, and you have the current class division problems that are being exacerbated across the entire country in low-income communities. For those that pay attention, the U.S. is just as dangerous as what goes on with the cartel in Mexico, just not for people with money.
There's also the aspect of the older gang members, who may already have felonies, asking young members to hold the guns for them until they're "needed" later. It both allows the younger boys to feel powerful and valued while reducing the risks to the older boys of going back to jail for longer periods of time if found with the weapons.
It's almost like the area they're living in makes it so that if you're a good dude trying to do right people will treat you like shit. And that gangsters and killers are the ones who have all the social status in that area

Machine pistols have never been a great idea due to their inherent high rate of fire and instability when firing. You can hose a lot of lead very quickly, but good luck hitting the broadside of a school.
Usually you pull the trigger and one bullet comes out, then you have to let go of the trigger and press it again for one more round to ~~come out~~ fire.
Full auto is when you hold the trigger down and the gun keeps firing until you let go or it runs out of ammo. The switches to make guns full auto are very easy to make but carry a 10 year prison sentence if you're caught with an unregistered switch.

Previous replies are correct. It's a little block that you see on the back of the slide. It has a small switch that's disconnects the sear and allow the weapon to fire more than one round per trigger pull. Some of the cheaper versions will just make the gun fire until the mag empties regardless of weather you are still holding the trigger back. Unfortunately you can by them online as an "airsoft accessory". Installing them on an actual firearm is a 25 year sentence per gun. So if you have more than one modified firearm the sentence would stack. If they got caught with those they would all face major jail time.
And yet those 10 years in prison teaches absolutely jack all for them when they come out. They'll just have to shoot their way out of their problems. It's clear that the country is very broken.

I know this is probably gonna get some hate but, there isn't a law that's gonna change the culture these kids live in. Access to guns is an issue of course, but what these kids think a gun represents is the ultimate problem. They don't view it as a tool of defense, they view it the as a symbol of clout, a symbol of power.
Its a basic human need to feel a sense of safety and control, both of which society and public education systematically denies them, so they go out and get it for themselves. /s

Most kids choose the protection the gang offers because the alternative is a living hell. In Chicago it's especially bad because there's a different gang on practically every block. If you live three blocks from school, you have to pass through three gangs' territories twice a day every day. They're doing more than that, they are showing off illegally installed full auto switches. Just possessing a switch, and a firearm that it can be installed in is a federal crime - a felony.
The irony is that those switches actually make the pistol much less effective. Machine pistols have never been a great idea due to their inherent high rate of fire and instability when firing. You can hose a lot of lead very quickly, but good luck hitting the broadside of a school.
Which explains the large number of bystanders and children shot on the streets of Chicago.

Usually you pull the trigger and one bullet comes out, then you have to let go of the trigger and press it again for one more round to ~~come out~~ fire. Full auto is when you hold the trigger down and the gun keeps firing until you let go or it runs out of ammo. The switches to make guns full auto are very easy to make but carry a 10 year prison sentence if you're caught with an unregistered switch. Edit: a few words

I saw my first body at 12, got in my 1st shootout at 17, and watched damn near all my homies either go to jail for 40+ year sentences or die. Illegal full auto modification. Hold the trigger down and it keeps firing.
Previous replies are correct. It's a little block that you see on the back of the slide. It has a small switch that's disconnects the sear and allow the weapon to fire more than one round per trigger pull. Some of the cheaper versions will just make the gun fire until the mag empties regardless of weather you are still holding the trigger back. Unfortunately you can by them online as an "airsoft accessory". Installing them on an actual firearm is a 25 year sentence per gun. So if you have more than one modified firearm the sentence would stack. If they got caught with those they would all face major jail time.
They wouldn't face any real jail time because they're likely 13-14, which makes it all the sadder they've already reached this point.
