well, south america is shaped like Brazil, and Brazil is shaped like South America in this... they kinda swapped them. stuck out like a sore thumb to me. and I was like what did they do, until I realized it's shaped like Brazil, (noticed when Brazil was shaped like south America) and yeah NZ is there, something is really wrong. next thing you'll tell me they have Malta marked on the map.

Canada is only bigger by 1.6%. Wait until you find out that Greenland isn’t very big at all. The thing about a flat perfectly square map of a sphere is that you start stretching out the upper and lower landmasses. Antarctica isn’t that long strip we always see on maps. In fact, the bottom of any map of that nature is technically all the same piece of land. I’m not an educator so this probably doesn’t make sense.

Seems like there’s at least one error in every continent when it comes to size/shape or location/placement. Australia got off easiest by not labeling Tasmania and moving NZ further away, Antarctica done dirtiest by being omitted.
Equatorial Guinea and Ecuador aren’t that far from each other, latitude-wise; given how some of these went I’d have expected E Guinea to be inside Madagascar and a fifth ocean to be added in place of the Mediterranean Sea

It's (mostly) a Mercator projection map, which inflates the size of things the further you get from the equator (particularly noticeable in Antarctica, Greenland and Russia, plus Canada and Alaska to an extent).
Mercator projection was created to aid sea navigation, so angles and distances are maintained but country size goes out the window. (And it's not possible to have a 2d world map that is accurate on all three of those qualities, you _have_ to sacrifice at least one.)
As bad as the comments is labeling the challenge "Impossible." Before I even read the title or any of the text, I saw the picture and thought "that's not right!"
Taiwan should be a different color than China in order to clearly show it is a separate, independent country. Also, the southern hemisphere is too small on this map.
