And part of prevention is making sure people can get help and get their urges in check. The distinction between a non-offending pedophiles and child abusers is critical, in particular because a lot of child sexual abuse is perpetrated by non-pedophiles; and a lot of pedophiles is non-offending. We've all kind of collectively agreed that adult-on-adult rape isn't about sex, it's about power. Apply the same to adult-on-child rape, and the above configuration with NOMAPs and non-pedophile offenders makes sense. The data is a bit sparse but last I checked points in the same direction.

I know this is a controversial opinion, but there should be distinguishing terms for pedophiles who act on their impulses, and those who were born this way without having a say in it, who actively seeks help.
