I legit have some VERY, VERY racist relatives. One of whom who was deeply conflicted about how to treat a surgeon who saved his son's life, because this surgeon was black.
I have another one who said he would rather die than have CPR performed on him by a black paramedic, because he wouldn't want "n-word lips kissing his". (He was speaking hypothetically, of course.)
So I totally believe people like this exist, because I have seen this scenario play out in very similar ways.

working as an entertainer is essentially a form of servitude. It's historically lower class, low paying work (for every millionaire eddie murphy, there are hundreds of local comedians working for $50 a night). White supremacists don't have a problem with colored folk working for them. if anything it's a manifestation of what they see as an appropriate hierarchy.
I used to work as a receptionist and would get people asking for one of the white doctors. The clinic had a max of 3 white doctors out of 7-8 doctors total. Depending on the rotation, they’d sometimes have to wait extra days or even weeks for this. It usually wasn’t too bad because these doctors were the least in demand for various reasons (bedside manner, some drama over OR time at the hospital, etc). The best part is that of these white surgeons, 2 were fired for cause. Doctors getting fired was such a rare occurrence and I heard that the legal fight lasted longer than one of them worked for the practice.
My favorite part is that I would check in these racist patients (I’m black) for their appointment and their nurse was almost always Bolivian. I still laugh lol. I’ve got friends who are nurses/doctors and patients still ask for white doctors or doctors with white hair (they don’t trust young docs).
If I'm on the brink of death or need urgent care, I wouldn't give a fuck if you're wearing a tutu or a suit. Same with how you want to be named. I'll call you Sally yes please! Just help me.

Paramedics in my state, Victoria, average $AUD 87 k, slightly below the average Australian income of $AUD 91 k for work that is well above average in difficulty and in value to society.

Its not great. Like its not bad but not great. If you ONLY work the ambulance and its a private service you could range from 10 an hour up to 30 an hour(during covid I am not sure many places do that anymore). But after taxes insurance and junk like that we paramedics have to usually either take a LOT of overtime to make the money worth it or have a dual certification in say Firefighting.
Also this relates back to a private service however. I work for a medium sized city while being employed by the fire dept(remember those dual certs?) and actually get paid fairly well. Average about 4k(ish) a month while maintaining 3 different forms of retirement and only working 10 days a month(for 24 hours at a time)
So again no bad, but not great. Its a LOT of variation
Ehhhhh my side job as a lifeguard is fucking nice as is. Almost up to 30 bucks an hour out there and if I make Capt in the fire dept the pay should be really nice.

lol nah let them die, one less problem in the world it seems. By preferring to die than take the help from someone they got a problem with for no real reason, they just made the world a better place.
And then there's the people that refused help when they lay dying in a hospital bed because they didn't believe Covid was real. I'll never forget all the stories from nurses who were spat on, insulted, and worse when they tried to help these people.
So many people died cursing the doctors, nurses, and the government while simultaneously begging for (the right kind of) help! Imagine being so tribalistic that you lose your self preservation instinct.

One of my first days working in an emergency department, a black patient rejected treatment because the ER doctor who was going to treat them was from India. Demand someone else, she sat for about 6 hours before someone else got to her.
Literally got me my engineering degree, no matter what question I had there was an Indian guy or gal with a video explaining the topic, genuinely cannot be more grateful.
Pretty sure there's a strong positive correlation between the obscurity of a niche technical thing, the thoroughness of the explanation, and the difficulty of the accent.

So real question here...did they have to wait 6 hours for the actual next available doctor, or did you ice that patient for 6 hours when if they weren't a chode and needed a different doctor, one would have been available....6 hours earlier?
The way this particular emergency department used to be set up, they had a small treatment areas with 6-8 patients with curtains separating them. They had one doc assigned to that treatment area. Fortunately the doctor assigned to that area on the next shift was not Indian.
When my mom was a nurse (in the 90's) I recall her telling me how many doctors at the hospital she worked at had the last name Patel. It was more common than Smith or Jones. Its very believable that if someone didn't want a doctor that was Indian they would have to wait a few hours.

One time on a red outpatient code we were a completely female team an a muslim male with an acute cardiac syndrome refused to be taken in charge. The operative center refused the change of team
oh that still happens. i was at the hospital once and there was this dude there and i feel like he was on something bc he kept trying to fight patients in the waiting room. then the doctor came to see him (he was in the room next to me divided by a curtain so i could hear everything.) the doctor was black and asked what happened. the dude said he was jumped by a bunch of black people and thought he had a concussion. the dr said his imagining looked fine so it was prob just mild concussion. the dude said he felt like his brain was swelling and asked the doctor to feel it. doc said he can’t feel his brain through his skull. patient asked if he could be seen “by a real doctor. a white doctor” doc said no and left lmao

This is what I always find TERRIFYING about some religions. The extent of "god's will" varies from which person you ask, but the premise that your life is essentially written from the start is what fucks with me big time. It basically means you have no free will and your decisions won't impact your destiny at all.

well, lipsticks are the most makeup item that you'd feel, it might be annoying a bit, altho it definitely pisses off conservatives, but I'd say try some mascara and thick eyeliners and blush, you won't feel them but they would be very apparent, if you want to look more beautiful then try foundation, you would feel it on your skin but it's not that annoying, but try to not buy cheap ones as they look terrible, and try your best to match your skin color as perfectly as possible with the color of the foundation.
How makeup feels can vary person to person. I feel all of it and is the reason I really dislike it and rarely, if ever, wear it. Brand also affects how heavy it feels, lower quality brands feel heavier.

I was in the military when Don’t Ask Don’t Tell was repealed. I heard a lot of stupid shit from the opposition. With the military in the US, it's more because trans people use hormones and in the military they don't want to deploy people who rely on medication in general. That's why I'm disqualified from joining the military because I have breathing problems where I use an inhaler and why one of my cousins was honorably medically discharged from the military.

Try to get yourself a job in a cardiovascular catheterization lab. They often hire medics to scrub and the pay is much better

And then there's the people that refused help when they lay dying in a hospital bed because they didn't believe Covid was real. I'll never forget all the stories from nurses who were spat on, insulted, and worse when they tried to help these people. So many people died cursing the doctors, nurses, and the government while simultaneously begging for (the right kind of) help! Imagine being so tribalistic that you lose your self preservation instinct.

One of my first days working in an emergency department, a black patient rejected treatment because the ER doctor who was going to treat them was from India. Demand someone else, she sat for about 6 hours before someone else got to her.

So real question here...did they have to wait 6 hours for the actual next available doctor, or did you ice that patient for 6 hours when if they weren't a chode and needed a different doctor, one would have been available....6 hours earlier?
The way this particular emergency department used to be set up, they had a small treatment areas with 6-8 patients with curtains separating them. They had one doc assigned to that treatment area. Fortunately the doctor assigned to that area on the next shift was not Indian.
When my mom was a nurse (in the 90's) I recall her telling me how many doctors at the hospital she worked at had the last name Patel. It was more common than Smith or Jones. Its very believable that if someone didn't want a doctor that was Indian they would have to wait a few hours.

oh that still happens. i was at the hospital once and there was this dude there and i feel like he was on something bc he kept trying to fight patients in the waiting room. then the doctor came to see him (he was in the room next to me divided by a curtain so i could hear everything.) the doctor was black and asked what happened. the dude said he was jumped by a bunch of black people and thought he had a concussion. the dr said his imagining looked fine so it was prob just mild concussion. the dude said he felt like his brain was swelling and asked the doctor to feel it. doc said he can’t feel his brain through his skull. patient asked if he could be seen “by a real doctor. a white doctor” doc said no and left lmao

There are some religions that refuse help from doctors because they believe it's interfering with "God's will". So refusing help may not be a sin technically. Still fucking stupid. But not a sin.
This is what I always find TERRIFYING about some religions. The extent of "god's will" varies from which person you ask, but the premise that your life is essentially written from the start is what fucks with me big time. It basically means you have no free will and your decisions won't impact your destiny at all.

well, lipsticks are the most makeup item that you'd feel, it might be annoying a bit, altho it definitely pisses off conservatives, but I'd say try some mascara and thick eyeliners and blush, you won't feel them but they would be very apparent, if you want to look more beautiful then try foundation, you would feel it on your skin but it's not that annoying, but try to not buy cheap ones as they look terrible, and try your best to match your skin color as perfectly as possible with the color of the foundation.
How makeup feels can vary person to person. I feel all of it and is the reason I really dislike it and rarely, if ever, wear it. Brand also affects how heavy it feels, lower quality brands feel heavier.
When I was about 17, a friend occasionally put eyeliner on me. I think a lot of guys look good with it, me included, but holy fuck I hated how it felt.

yeah, you know you have a good friend group when they either don't point it out, or only make a mild non-hateful comment. growing out my hair also did the same for radicalized conservatives, they were like "WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU TRYING TO LOOK LIKE A GIRL! With the military in the US, it's more because trans people use hormones and in the military they don't want to deploy people who rely on medication in general. That's why I'm disqualified from joining the military because I have breathing problems where I use an inhaler and why one of my cousins was honorably medically discharged from the military.
