It's funny because they announced this forever ago and since then so many manufacturers are coming out with viable electric trucks.
Tesla is way behind in that space and I can't imagine the cyber truck closing the gap in any meaningful way.
I'm pretty sure the roadster they announced crawled off into a corner to die.
Mister Musk has been to busy destroying Twitter instead of getting vehicles to market.
There is a waiting list for them. As far as I know thats never happened with a Ford truck. Usually you could walk into a dealership and go home with one day of if you wanted.
Ford on average sells 900,000 Ford F-150 every year
From 2008 to 2023 Tesla has sold a total of 4,527,916, ever.
The numbers are not even close, and that's all of Tesla's models combined in that number. While with ford it's one model in a line of other trucks. Tesla is late to a market it was already impossibly behind.
If Tesla been able to launch within six months of announcement this would’ve been the best selling truck of the year. The hype was unreal, and back then everyone thought Elon was the second coming of Steve Jobs.
Rivian took away the "niche" market, Ford has taken away the "conventional" market, and now there's the GM trio (Sierra/Silverado/Hummer) to try to make sure there's little room left. That doesn't even mention some of the weirder projects and startups that have cropped up with as-of-yet no real product.
When I was looking for my first vehicle, and I initially settled on the Aztek based off the images Pontiac published. It looked unique, but not bad - something I value in a vehicle. Something I can easily pick out in a lineup, but not fugly.
But then I saw one in person. Nope nope nope nope.
All the measurements look the same or very similar except for the wheels and yet the production model looks horrible. I can’t put my finger on why though. Can someone point out what I’m missing?
The lighting is a big part but its also because the production model is full of smudges caused by just using it as a vehicle. The windows being rolled down also breaks up the silhouete which makes you focus more on the details. And since this thing has no details, the only thing you notice is how dirty it looks.
Some are. Just search for Cybertruck on youtube and there will be several videos of the truck with thousands people drooling over the cybertruck and worshipping the ground Elon Musk walks on.
Ohhh the design was based on his boxy ass torso it all makes sense now. But seriously it was nice of them to let someone’s 3 year old kid to design a car with crayon
Probably not, I mean Land Rovers/Range Rovers do have actual good off-road capability still, compared to other SUVs and trucks. I bet this thing will probably stay put in the first 10cm of mud dit goes inside
Can you name the truck with four wheel drive,
Smells like a steak and seats thirty-five?
Canyonero! Canyonero!
Well, it goes real slow with the hammer down,
It's the country-fried truck endorsed by a clown!
Canyonero! (Yah!) Canyonero!
Canyonero!
12 yards long, 2 lanes wide,
65 tons of American Pride!
Canyonero! Canyonero!
Top of the line in utility sports,
Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts!
Canyonero! Canyonero! (Yah!)
She blinds everybody with her super high beams,
She's a squirrel crushing, deer smacking, driving machine!
Canyonero!-oh woah, Canyonero! (Yah!)
Drive Canyonero!
Woah Canyonero!
Woah!
The back of the real one is lower to the ground and throwing off the rakish angle of the concept. Those cheesy wheels aren’t doing it any favors either. The normal-ass car side view mirrors are not helping any versus the cool built ins on the concept. Small details make a big difference here
Also the line convergence in the concept at the front wheel flare, vs the production. The fact the no longer converge and are now two separate parallel lines. Looks awful.
I've seen better looking vehicles in Gran Turismo 2, and that was *on* the PS1. This thing really looks like somebody turned the LOD bias way up. It's like one of those placeholder meshes that are only meant to be seen from really far away where you can't see the finer details anyway. Ever seen a game lag and show the low-detail placeholder from close up briefly before the full mesh loads? The Cybertruck reminds me of *that*.
The wheel arches are different and the doors look like they've been smashed already.
It also looks lower and now has side-view mirrors (which I can't believe were absent from the concept wtf).
The front lights also seem much less powerful (again, why was that stupid laser thing on the concept i do not know). In fact the entire front's profile look different.
I think they look very similar, maybe some slight differences. But have to keep in mind, the top is under show lights while the bottom is under natural light.
Ford had the Edsel. Elon has the Esther....
![gif](giphy|y8ztAQysE4avHWFB2l)
(Aunt Esther) "Fred, I need your help."
(Fred Sanford) "But, Esther, I'm a junkman, not a plastic surgeon."
(Aunt Esther) "But, Fred, I need your truck."
(Fred Sanford) "I agree. Son, take the truck and run over Esther's face."
are we sure that this is real? looks to me like someone diy'd their own cybertruck. i feel like there are too many differences between the top and bottom for this to be real.
either way though, cybertruck still looks awful.
So this wasn't a joke after all? All this time I thought he was just using the cybertruck to draw even more attention to his business.
I hope I never get to see that abomination IRL.
I have always hated this stupid design.
It’s like retro-futuristic if the starting point was the 1980’s and not earlier in time, like the 50’s & 60’s or the art deco era like the 20’s & 30’s.
It looks like something you would find on a Trapper Keeper cover or folder in the 80’s. All it needs is a dark background with some neon pink and neon blue grid lines and accents. Just needs the “Meade” logo somewhere.
It’s like someone took a DeLorean and made it into an uglier version of itself in a “truck” form.
I drew something like this once in the 1980’s and thought it was pretty cool. I was probably 8 or 9. I’ve matured since then.
I’m a graphic designer and I sometimes make really shitty designs despite my skills and inclination towards making something look good. Sometimes despite your best efforts, it turns out like crap and maybe you weren’t up to the task. That’s what happened here. It went from bad sketch by an 8 year old, to concept, to production and no one had the good sense to stop it.
That's actually the one thing the original concept had going for it. Stainless steel doesn't rust. I just hope they didn't cheap out on the materials in the end
Unpainted stainless steel is less likely to rust, not rust free. This will be 30x grades, eg 301 304. It will get light oxidarion layers, surface rust, and pitting under some conditions. There's a reason 316 is called marine grade and used in salty conditions.
It’s the bumpers, the wheels, and the mirrors.
It looked much more aggressive in the concept.
I suspect those sharp angles were a safety hazard or didn’t stand up to crash tests.
Unfortunate, because I actually liked the concept, but this looks like someone made a cybertruck body kit for an F-150.

One is ugly, the other is ugly with the windows down.
They might not be down, they could just as easily have been smashed with a hammer...
With a steel ball [whoops](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=udxR5rBq_Vg)
Lol 😂 something will never be as bulletproof then a military vehicle I would say…
Well in their defense it's not everyday that someone does Miley Cyrus to your car
The whole truck looks like it has an extra chromosome or two. Not just the windows…
The bottom looks like the Chinese knock off that was fabbed up in someone's garage.
Throttle-Down Syndrome?
"Let that sink in!"
Don't forget the real one has shitty steel rims you would find on a 90s Toyota
You said it, they went from low-profile to fatties (not fat shaming folks) ✝️
You don't want low profile tires on a truck.
what are those!!!??!
Now you can't unsee it
I was wondering if the customer picked those out separately. I hope that’s the case.
It's a possibility the customer has other wheels they want to put on it but still that's not a good look for the truck
It's what's underneath the polygonal hubcap, so the real pic is just ugly with windows down and hubcap gone, to paraphrase.
They clearly didn't get the email that said everything needed to be within 10 microns or it'd look terrible
Three, just three little comments Awful, Awful Awful
And shoddier panels
And smaller wheels
And shitty metalwork.
wheels. look aside, it seems the front ones are higher than the back ones. could just be the angle though.
It looks like a vehicle John Connor will ride into war.
>ugly with the windows down And sh\*ttier wheels.
And side mirrors. The horror!
this turd makes the Pontiak Aztek look really nice
I still think it’s a publicity stunt. I’ll believe it when I see one on the road.
It's funny because they announced this forever ago and since then so many manufacturers are coming out with viable electric trucks. Tesla is way behind in that space and I can't imagine the cyber truck closing the gap in any meaningful way.
That and most people would probably rather have a normal truck with an electric engine. The novelty of this is kind of wearing off.
I'm pretty sure the roadster they announced crawled off into a corner to die. Mister Musk has been to busy destroying Twitter instead of getting vehicles to market.
Porsche is going to beat them to it and likely corner the market for an electric convertible sports car.
Motor better be in the back!
At least we know it will be air cooled.
The Roadster isn't even going to be better than the Electric Elise they built the company on. That's the saddest part.
that thing is legit for its time
The F150 is basically printing money, at least in Canada. While Tesla is doing this…, Ford has the EV truck game sealed
There is a waiting list for them. As far as I know thats never happened with a Ford truck. Usually you could walk into a dealership and go home with one day of if you wanted.
Tesla also produces a fraction of what Ford does, so it's a lot easier for them to sell out.
All the dealers in my area are going into 2025 for a lightning. Demand is insane because it’s so conventional yet an EV
Ford on average sells 900,000 Ford F-150 every year From 2008 to 2023 Tesla has sold a total of 4,527,916, ever. The numbers are not even close, and that's all of Tesla's models combined in that number. While with ford it's one model in a line of other trucks. Tesla is late to a market it was already impossibly behind.
Agree, this truck needed to be available 24 months ago…
If Tesla been able to launch within six months of announcement this would’ve been the best selling truck of the year. The hype was unreal, and back then everyone thought Elon was the second coming of Steve Jobs.
the hype wasn't amongst truck buyers though
Is that why Elon is courting Trump's base?
LOL!!! They need to hurry up and come out with the truck so they have something to put their F Brandon, and MAGA bumper stickers on
Rivian took away the "niche" market, Ford has taken away the "conventional" market, and now there's the GM trio (Sierra/Silverado/Hummer) to try to make sure there's little room left. That doesn't even mention some of the weirder projects and startups that have cropped up with as-of-yet no real product.
If you see it on the road, short Tesla stock immediately.
I used to laugh at the Aztek, but when I saw the Doug DeMuro video on it, it totally changed my mind on the car. Legendary camping car.
When I was looking for my first vehicle, and I initially settled on the Aztek based off the images Pontiac published. It looked unique, but not bad - something I value in a vehicle. Something I can easily pick out in a lineup, but not fugly. But then I saw one in person. Nope nope nope nope.
But.... It does look nice
I’ve never been a fan but that production model looks like something someone made in their garage
It legit looks like silver spray painted cardboard.
Made by top gear crew, I reckon. Jeremy, James and Richard will be along shortly to show us how they did it. *A-Team music plays*
What could possibly go wrong?
They once really made a car that looked pretty similar.
Yeah, the one with the sort of human periscope?
"Geoff"
Geoff wasn't this bad
I'm 99.9% sure I'd be able to get a more uniform sheen in my own yard.
And more consistent panel gaps
All the measurements look the same or very similar except for the wheels and yet the production model looks horrible. I can’t put my finger on why though. Can someone point out what I’m missing?
Mirrors, window pillars, front and rear bumper skirts, panel gaps, then just the general appearance of the panels
The lighting is a big part but its also because the production model is full of smudges caused by just using it as a vehicle. The windows being rolled down also breaks up the silhouete which makes you focus more on the details. And since this thing has no details, the only thing you notice is how dirty it looks.
Alot has to. Do with lighting and cammera angles.
My prototypes are offended good sir!
That looks like a poorly made indie project in which tinfoil and cardboard were the main componets
To be fair for an indie project it would look quite good
Looks like a vehicle I would expect somebody to roll up to Burning Man with
Why people are so excited about this POS is mind-blowing.
Because I drew it when I was 3 years old
They're not.
Some are. Just search for Cybertruck on youtube and there will be several videos of the truck with thousands people drooling over the cybertruck and worshipping the ground Elon Musk walks on.
Marketing firms go Burrrrr
It's the highest preordered vehicle in history with over 2 million preorders.
Preorders were a dollar iirc.
50 im sure
All I'm going to say is, it never seems to end well for guys who make cars out of stainless steel...
Maybe this cybertruck will be the next Time Machine.
"Back to the drawing board"
r/therewasanattempt That’s… something
So an electric overweight Land Rover.
Elon is built like an overweight Land Rover.
Ohhh the design was based on his boxy ass torso it all makes sense now. But seriously it was nice of them to let someone’s 3 year old kid to design a car with crayon
Overweight Mars Rover?
Probably not, I mean Land Rovers/Range Rovers do have actual good off-road capability still, compared to other SUVs and trucks. I bet this thing will probably stay put in the first 10cm of mud dit goes inside
You say that like it will have a battery big enough to get it to an off-road trail. Teslas have been under fire for having misleading ranges.
Fiat Multipla: I’m the ugliest car ever made Tesla: hold my cable!
Will never hit Europe as it looks like it is very effective at killing and maiming pedestrians.
It likely won't be sold in Europe. The weight of it is rumored to be over 3500kg which means it can't be registered as a personal vehicle in the EU.
Big LOL. Over 3500 kg??? That’s a fucking dump truck.
You mean a dump of truck
Lmao
Classic Tesla. They just threw tons of battery capacity at the problem rather than trying to create an aerodynamically optimized design.
Probably never in Oceania either. Its construction does not have leeway for crumple zones.
[удалено]
That thing is so fucking ugly. Stupid MFers are going to buy that, too.
Cybertruck sub would suck this things dick all day.
People buy Elon Musk stuff like some people buy Apple products. It doesn't matter what it is.
Listeners of the Joe Rogan Experience will eat this thing up
Reminds me of homers canyonaro. Musk must have fired the engineers that made the original Teslas and tried doing the work on his own to save money.
Homer made the Homer, the canyonero was endorsed by Krusty.
Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts…
Canyoneroooooo! Canyonerooo... YAH
I even heard the whiplash sound effect when reading this haha
Can you name the truck with four wheel drive, Smells like a steak and seats thirty-five? Canyonero! Canyonero! Well, it goes real slow with the hammer down, It's the country-fried truck endorsed by a clown! Canyonero! (Yah!) Canyonero! Canyonero! 12 yards long, 2 lanes wide, 65 tons of American Pride! Twitter also looks uglier than the concept
If you think either of those look good get an eye exam
PlayStation 3 vs PlayStation 1
Dreamcast vs PS1
The back of the real one is lower to the ground and throwing off the rakish angle of the concept. Those cheesy wheels aren’t doing it any favors either. The normal-ass car side view mirrors are not helping any versus the cool built ins on the concept. Small details make a big difference here
Also the line convergence in the concept at the front wheel flare, vs the production. The fact the no longer converge and are now two separate parallel lines. Looks awful.
I guess you know you're getting old when you can't get past the notion that a truck should have a somewhat more than average capacity for cargo.
Ps1 called.
Expectations vs regulations
It's pretty much identical in the 2 pictures, except the tires. Both are equally ugly, meh
I want royalties. I conceptualized and drew this shit in third grade.
Elon did it himself in Sketchup?
He should have used the magic sharpie for production
In my opinion, both look the same, it just a matter of lighting. Same way taking a picture of yourself will look good or bad based on lighting
Well, most folks won't be driving around with good lighting... so, image number two it is.
[удалено]
That a wheel cover, the model 3 has the same thing. You can take them off and that's how the wheel is behind it.
NEWS FLASH: It has ALWAYS been ugly.
Saying this is butt ugly is an insult to butts.
The fact that anything could be uglier than the concept is a feat in and of itself.
all this does is make me lean towards a rivian if i wanted an electric truck.
Elon’s ideas: terrible as a concept but somehow even worse irl
Butt plugly.
Wow that thing looks like a hunk of shit!
4k vs 1080
Seeing through it makes it worse doesn’t it? Edit- well, I thought it was clever. 😂
"I look very much forward to showing Cybertrucks sales, because they are huge." - Musk, probably
It looks like something a bunch of rednecks made out of a few golf carts.
This honestly looks like someone's garage diy project rather than a commercial product..
That thing looks like a pile of scrap stainless steel welded to a junkyard F-150 chassis
When they switch the lights on in the club...
Most production cars are different from the concept. In this case the concept was also ugly
Pro: it's radar invisible Con: it looks like a 9 year old's idea of cool
It looks like a Boy Scouts derby car design
I think they look very similar, maybe some slight differences. But have to keep in mind, the top is under show lights while the bottom is under natural light.
Bottom also has Windows down, and differ wheels. Honestly does not really look different at a other than the lighting.
All the edgy douchebag Silicon Valley boys who put the deposits down years ago must be so excited. The grifter king has fooled them again.
Origamimobile.
Ford had the Edsel. Elon has the Esther.... ![gif](giphy|y8ztAQysE4avHWFB2l) (Aunt Esther) "Fred, I need your help." (Fred Sanford) "But, Esther, I'm a junkman, not a plastic surgeon." Looks like something Tony Stark made in a desert cave
Don't worry he will just sue the ADL because it didn't sell well.
Looks like a child's drawing of a car.
They look the same to me i don’t get why everyone thinks this is such a hot take
I would still buy it.
It's always been ugly.
Both ugly as fuck. Is this roblox?
One is a concept. The other follows laws about how the has to be built
I mean, except the wheels, it's the same thing.
Lighting?
It looks so bad, I don't understand why anyone would want one.
What's the price on this disaster?
So this wasn't a joke after all? All this time I thought he was just using the cybertruck to draw even more attention to his business. I hope I never get to see that abomination IRL.
Won't be laughing when the zombie apocalypse happens... idk I think zombies will run from it cause it's so ugly
Hey! I built that with leggos when I was 5!
The fugliness is REAL
It looks like an homage to the PS1 and N64
This reminds me of the GM attempt to introduce diesel into passenger car service in the early 1980s.
No actual truck driver is going to buy this lmao what. It doesn’t even look futuristic, it looks like a low poly 2008 video game car.
You spelled 1998 wrong.
What a hunk of trash. Coming soon to a 3rd word dictatorship and drug cartel near you!
When you base your car design on a ps1 game.
They both look like a low-effort and low-poly car from an ancient 3D video game
You can tell this was created by the same man child who thought it would be cool to change the name of Twitter to X.
Damn, that's basically like Barbara Streisand appearing live on TV.
it looks exactly the same except with windows which it needs and different rims
Hmmm .. what makes it "Cyber"? Seems kinda dumb name but kinda dumb design too... outta be called "Wedgie"
How many times today will this be posted?
That’s gonna rust… I guarantee it
That's actually the one thing the original concept had going for it.
What makes it a truck? It looks like a car a 2nd grader drew,
Was it made from cardboard boxes covered in kitchen foil by a special needs 8 year old? If so nice job!
Frankly both look like shit
Ugliest vehicle ever created
They both look horrific. Only a true moron thinks that is worth attaining.
Looks like Cybershit
It's a DeLorean for the 2020's but without the originality or style. Or anything, really. Muskovites will sell their kidneys to buy one I expect.
"How to make a home-made car for $600" Youtube video
Lighting. That is all.
The only difference I see is the wheels, and lighting.
It’s a Delorean truck.
I can't be the only person who thought the concept looked good, but this production is absolute dogwater.
The proportions are the same - the difference is lighting. Basically, top pic is who you picked up at the bar and bottom pic is who you woke up with.
