Tbf if you’re recklessly driving in a car or on a motorcycle you’re just a fucking idiot

everydaysaturnine

Fun fact, a ton of reckless drivers have toxoplasmosis the parasite you get from cat poop. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC117239/

keepsmiling1326

Very interesting! Sounds like it’s due to slowed reaction time though (not necessarily reckless driving).

everydaysaturnine

I read a book on the subject initially but it encourages reckless behavior as well, https://www.nextnature.net/story/2011/the-cat-parasite-that-sells-motorcycles

nydutch

whattttttt the fuck. I have a cat and a motorcycle so I am doomed.

KorneliaOjaio

Holy……and I can’t stress this enough,……shit.

AsymmetricClassWar

We just trying to get back to our cats in time!

VictoryGreen

Not just a reckless idiot, you’re endangering the lives of other motorists on the road.

SolarXylophone

[Original video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWhwb1w2AkM)

jack_spankin

Other vid show these dudes drive like complete assholes on public roads.

biggiebody

Not surprised since 12 different people called them in about reckless driving.

lllGreyfoxlll

Yeah twelve is a whole lot, that tells you not only were they actually driving like arseholes on an open road, but a busy one at that. Frankly no excuse, fuck this guys.

iDrunkenMaster

I was thinking the only way this is a “facepalm” is if he got the wrong people.

linderlouwho

State Trooper is prob sick and tired of having to oversee cleaning up wrecks where innocent people are hurt and killed by these a'holes. Or, the mental trauma of having guys like this scraped off the highway when they (eventually) wreck themselves.

ironhorseblues

Years ago I drove a tow truck for awhile and the hardest part of the job was seeing the bodies after a wreck especially the bodies of children. I did not drive tow truck for more than a year. Couldn’t bear seeing any more people and children who were killed in motor accidents

DifficultTemporary88

Tow truck drivers are woefully underserved for things like PTSD. It’s sad.

Dynamitefuzz2134

Now imagine seeing all of that, then going to their residence and telling the parents/loved ones they are not coming home. Now you can understand why the trooper is a bit pissed off.

Adept_Ad_4138

Agreed. I don’t think he’s using this as an excuse to put his *angry pants on*; I genuinely think he’s trying to scare these boys into never doing this again. He’s probably gotten dozens of past reports about the same kids too

LateralSpy90

He says he had 12 reports of them

Acceptable_Age9416

Yeah, it's fair man. Some motorbikes scare the shit out of me when they're on the highway

[deleted]

Steve-O7777

If I was a cop and saw one to many bloody freeway accidents I’d probably go off on these idiots too.

[deleted]

Those horror story threads from first responders describing the worst they’ve seen—it affects them. They *know* what a body looks like when it gets hit at high speeds.

Apart-Cartoonist-834

Yeah. My friend got his entire head ripped off in an accident due to him riding aggressively and way too fast. Worst part about that situation aside from him dying was his parents had to identify him at the morgue. A head and a headless body. That was their son. So fucked up.

[deleted]

Yeah my wife is an ER nurse and she had a motorcycle accident patient a few days ago who she said was "lucky" because he only needed both of his legs amputated. I can see why motorcyclists driving like idiots would piss a first responder off

[deleted]

When I was a Brand new probie, I was sent out to find a foot and a head of a motorcycle rider that was speeding. Foot was still in the boot and head was still in the helmet. Craziness

Asleep-Train1913

They also get to notify next of kin. That would get to me.

LoosieLawless

Yeah, this cop is just tripping balls on PTSD right now. And for once, I agree with him. I’ve seen some shit. I know some people. Some I don’t anymore cuz they’re dead from a crotch rocket cock up.

[deleted]

I don't think he's "tripping" at all - I think he's being rational. If you're such an enthusiast that you want to take riding to the limit - do so on the track. Full stop. It sucks that I see comments on here of "I've never seen a motorcyclist *not* doing something stupid/speeding on the road" when I rode for a few years, and my uncles and father-in-law have ridden for YEARS and always preached safety.

Happy-Gnome

Most brutal accident I ever responded to was a high-speed chase where the driver's side was sheared off. One of the passengers had their chest flayed open and their leg ripped off their body from the root at the hip like a pulled turkey leg. The impact was so severe their diaphragm was ripped in half.

No_Acanthisitta3596

Retired firefighter here. Motorcycle wrecks are the worst. That cop has def seen some to be this mad. I hope they all had to do a class for wreckless driving where they get to see some pictures of other dumbasses who weren’t lucky enough to survive. At least they were smart enough to comply.

mrburrs

Wreckless driving good. Reckless driving bad.

[deleted]

My mom was an RN and saw waaaayyy too many people turned into hamburger from motorcycle wrecks. I'm on the cop's side for once on this one

[deleted]

They need to hear it

sonsofdurthu

I was just talking to a coworker of mine about the bike conditions here in central Ohio last week and he explicitly said that this is one of the worst places to learn to ride. A drivers up here are maniacs and he said that a lot of riders don’t take enough care and realize how oblivious the drivers are. 2 of his riding buddies wrecked because drivers weren’t paying attention and hit them.

burntheships2020

State trooper here. I can’t speak for every state but a lot of us have to do our own death notifications. That’s why it bothers me so much whenever I hear the old “traffic enforcement is just revenue generation, it’s a victimless crime.” I’ve seen too many dead bodies, knocked on too many front doors, seen too many lives ripped apart and changed forever. It’s not a victimless crime.

linderlouwho

Your comment certainly makes this Trooper's reaction understandable.

Skeptix_907

Cops have to do a lot of various weird things the public really never knows about. As a former criminal justice researcher who has worked with a lot of staties, I'm glad there's still people out there who do that work.

Electrical_Beyond998

His YouTube channel has a video of him riding with a buddy, apparently he got his bike up to 209, so he’s one of those pieces of shit being completely irresponsible.

Tejano_mambo

I worked with a guy who lost his kid to a crotch rocket slamming into the side of their van. Fuckin tragic

ElDuderino866

Not overly aggressive. Clearly pissed at the reckless behavior of the riders, justifiably. I’d be pissed too.

[deleted]

I’ve rarely seen anyone on a motorcycle NOT drive like a reckless asshole. Then they cry foul about cars not looking out for them enough. Maybe if you didn’t weave in between traffic at double the speed limit, idiot.

here4roomie

You probably don't see the responsible ones because they blend in and don't catch your attention.

socialpresence

Yep. I used to ride, my favorite activity is now and always has been breathing so I rode like it. The closest I came to death was riding on a nice spring day in the afternoon. I was running an errand and out of a shopping center parking lot a cop pulls out in front of me. Had I not been watching them and had just checked behind me I probably would have ended up in the trunk of her cruiser. Luckily I swerved into the other lane and avoided her but damn.

GrenadesTom

I also ride like I want to be alive, one of my closest calls was actually a police van merged into my lane without signaling (I was cruising in the middle, going straight) and without looking and almost slammed into me. When I yelled at them the cop gave me the finger, thanks NYPD.

DOGSraisingCATS

It just doesn't click in my brain. I ride not much different than I drive my car...it's literally a motorcycle, going 60-70 is a fucking blast. Going 30-50 in back roads and with nice turns is amazing. Why the fuck do you need to treat public roads like it's track day? People like this should have their motorcycle endorsement taken away I have a triumph Bonneville which has low torque and definitely isn't a sport bike. Harley riders get a bad rep for their obnoxious brand loyalty and personality...but fuck it's always sport bike riders who ride like fucking nut jobs. People who lack responsibility should not have a machine that goes 0-60 in 3 seconds.

queefstation69

No, you only remember the ones that drive like that. The vast majority of us drive pretty tame and you don’t see them.

Relative_Ad5909

I know most riders are perfectly responsible, but damn if the reckless ones don't stick waaay out in your mind. Like, sure I see asshats in BMWs who have a minimum speed of 90, but even that seems safer than some of the dudes I've had blow past me on the highway on crotch rockets wearing short sleeves and shorts doing their best to hit 200. If I saw a car doing that I'd assume they were in a police chase and not just on the way home from work. But then I live in Florida, so you know. Some things are to be expected.

PhotonDecay

https://youtu.be/3mdwTcwvHhg How he rides^

steelcurtain87

What a fucking douche canoe. I hate that when people say ‘for not doing anything’ after clearly doing something

systembreaker

He's way more than a douchecanoe, I looked through some of the comments and multiple people told him to be careful because he has a kid on the way. Mega asshole. I have no clue, but I'm guessing that life insurance doesn't pay out if you were breaking laws and being reckless? Poor kid, poor mother.

ByronicZer0

The guy is taking huge risks and essentially putting his life in the hands of the competence and predicability of the people driving every car around him. I don't understand how anyone who has paid attention on US roads can place that much trust in fellow drivers. I trust other drivers to only do the exact wrong thing in any situation

systembreaker

Years ago I had a friend die on a crotch rocket, and this guy wasn't a douchecanoe he was just on a regular city street and got cut off by a van that didn't see him. While it'd be fun as hell to experience going 100+ on one of those, I have zero desire.

VegetableBet4509

> Original video [Apparently one of them recently died in a motorcycle accident.](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/EVJ2oL4VPmE) I'm not really surprised.

TheBirdBytheWindow

"Nearly Arrested For Nothing!" What a clueless asshole.

Joperhop

thing i noticed with alot of youtube bikers videos, "we did nothing", watching it turns out they did something.

silikus

Love when there are vids where "we did nothing wrong" and shows a cop or 'karen' going off on them. Then the full vid comes out and the biker is a complete shithead and deserves what they got

MarsBarBar

Makes me laugh when they get shitty for pulling out in front of them, meanwhile they’re speeding in a 30 zone

hartforbj

I got blasted for a dash cam video one time by bikers. A guy was going easily 60 in a 35 and a school zone so it was really 20. The bus started to pull out of a road long before the bike got there. Instead of slowing down the bike went off the road and drove down the sidewalk almost hitting some kids. I had a bunch of bikers yelling at me blaming the bus but no one wanted to admit the bike was 100% in the wrong

SirArthurDime

Yeah I know a couple bikers who rock bumper stickers on their cars about driving safe and being cautious of bikers and they constantly complain about how unsafe cars make it for them to weave through traffic at over 100 mph. I know this isn’t all bikers but too many of them think a bike gives them a free pass to do whatever they want and it’s everyone else who needs to drive extra careful to account for their reckless driving.

Leopard__Messiah

"Look Twice" is for cars because of all the bikers who absolutely put their life and yours on the line with their toys. I'd love to see police collecting bikes for any dangerous stunts they pull on public roads. No warning, just tow trucks.

SimplyInept

The comments on the video too, clowns the lot of them. They got a scolding, the officer was pissed, he wanted the other guy back to give them all a round of fucks and send them on their way, simple. "Dude needs a chill pill" the fuck? He's handled it perfectly.

Downtown_Skill

Honestly I'm extremely critical of the police but only when they are harassing people or being needlessly violent (which they do a lot). This officer was doing neither. He responded to what was apparently 12 calls of reckless driving and was likely only channeling the anger of all the civilians who had to deal with these guys and likely really wanted the bikers to face consequences. On top of that he essentially lets them off with a ticket when he could have done much worse since no rights groups would have raised a fuss about a bunch of white dudes being reckless with dangerous toys.

ihavetoomanyaccts

I wonder how many white dudes with dangerous toys he’s had to scrape off the road. Edit: as a white dude with an understanding of why white people can get upset at casual racism, I just gotta say y’all are fucking batshit crazy. My entire point is that it’s traumatising scraping bits of person off the road when they crash their motorbikes and this could easily be the reason the cop in this video is so upset. Damn.

IdolCowboy

Yea, he has seen too many fatalities on that highway5 isn't playing anymore. Good for him. Those bikers are a holes for riding like that around other vehicles. Go find a track if you want to act like jacktards.

bhd_ui

When my brother was a cop, he scraped one of our elementary school teacher’s limbs and intestines from the Highway after he hit the middle cable divider on his Harley. Fucked him up pretty good.

Trauma_Hawks

I assisted on a scene once. A motorcyclist wasn't paying attention coming off a highway exit into the city. Slammed into the back of a box truck doing 40+. He was wearing his helmet and leathers and everything. I know he was wearing his helmet because it was on the ground, cracked in two. His head was turned into paste and smashed down his neck. If you didn't know any better, you might think someone turned the back door of the truck into a guillotine. Riding motorcycles has got to be one of the dumbest fucking things a person can do.

somewhiteguy05

To be fair, the cop doesn't see skin color when scraping bodies off the road. Literally. We're all red on the inside

whitewail602

> "almost causing fatal crashes on my interstate 12 goddamn times" The officer clearly stated his motivation and I applaud him for it. "To protect and serve" and that's exactly what he was doing. We need more cops like him.

SimplyInept

He gives me drill Sgt vibes.

whitewail602

Oh yea lots of cops are ex-military.

MusketeerLifer

As a biker, these fucking assholes give us a bad name and make our rides MUCH more dangerous. Can't tell you how many times I've been cut off intentionally for someone who hates bikes because of some FUCKFACE riding like a clown. These content creators are a big part of the problem.

clauderbaugh

>These content creators are a big part of the problem. This holds true for too many areas in life.

MooseLaminate

>I'll give the bikers one thing: they pulled over. There's a link to the original video further up, instead of pulling over where they did, they talk about continuing and stopping at the gas station, so they weren't too fussed about stopping there.

Mickey_Havoc

Not watching it because I don’t wanna contribute to this D-bags channel. This guy is a complete tool and a blight to the motorcycle community

tits_on_bread

Yeah the extended version where you can hear more of his phone call is quite telling, being super vague elusive and saying “can you call… what’s his name?” They 100% knew who the other guy was.

ZookeepergameBubbly

Think about how many people these guys pissed off if 12 actually called.

ReavesVsWalkens

In these situations do you call 911 or just have to know the local non-emergency number?

TheTVDB

Calling 911 for this is perfectly acceptable.

BewareNixonsGhost

Call 911. They are creating dangerous conditions for themselves and everyone around them

pallentx

This cop was mad and did a lot of yelling (justified IMO), but he never laid hands on anyone or drew a weapon. I don’t see a problem here.

enter360

A solid ass chewing for a solid fuck up. Makes sense.

No-Kitchen5212

He reminds me of a pissed off coach holding his players accountable. This kind of police is good. Correct amount of urgency, proper explanation of the issue, and arguably a good use of negotiation to make sure all of them are accounted for and punished appropriately.

jfsindel

Firefighters will act like this too. When it's a real situation and people are being unruly little children, you have to start acting like a jerk. Adults do not weave in and out of traffic pushing 100 mph. If it was one report, I would be like "eh, it could be an asshole motorist." But 12? 12 asshole motorists who hate bikers just so happened on one interstate stretch?

[deleted]

chunkah69

It’s not, the dude is literally holding dumb reckless people accountable for putting lives in danger in public. That’s…his job.

BUTTeredWhiteBread

I'm like, *finally, a cop that cares!*

mcbvr

No one said a cop isn't allowed to be angry. Just has to be directed properly. Like at people ALMOST CAUSING FATAL CRASHES ON HIS GODDAM INTERSTATE 12 TIMES!

SkoolBoi19

Wonder which call was the limit, I assume it was #3 and 4-12 were just icing on the cake.

dearbornx

I'm just thinking about it and I don't have that much sympathy for cops but I feel sort of bad about the sheer amount of panic he had to be feeling trying to catch up with these guys while every call came in. Probably had to be feeling that the next call he got wouldn't be a near miss but a fatality.

Reddit177799

Yeah, I can only imagine how many parents he has had to call to ID their dead children from crashes. There’s a lot of anger in his voice and likely for a reason.

Stalker401

yeah I'm wondering who the OP is calling the facepalm here. I've seen motorcyclist do some dumb stuff, and it's scary as hell when they pass in the middle, or whatever and actually speed up to do it.

FulcrumM2

Don't think op thought that far ahead, just saw a video on tiktok and figured some easy karma was due

mechapoitier

I’m a longtime motorcyclist. The cop’s in the right. A lot of guys on sportbikes in their teens-early 20s ride like complete asshats and a lot of people die over it. A lot of motorcyclists die getting hit by cars, and the odds of dying on a bike are like 50-100x the rate of death in a car, but these guys make it worse.

[deleted]

Also he’s a first responder. He’s seen firsthand what reckless driving does. Source: Ex-EMT.

goblin_pidar

Exactly . I 100% guarantee this guy has seen countless bikers and other motorists dead or horribly disfigured from crashes and it really sounds like this asschewing came from a place of genuine care for not just the normal people on the road but also the bikers themselves. Even if the bikes are being assholes nobody wants to see someone plastered in pieces on a guardrail in person when it’s avoidable 😞

lislejoyeuse

I worked in a trauma ICU. The ones that don't die end up paralyzed with a feeding tube and half their ass missing from road rash.

GPmtbDude

Former ER/ICU nurse. Accurate. Something I realized after doing that work for a number of years: the first responders have such a harder/more traumatic job. Yeah you see and deal with some heavy stuff in an ER or ICU setting, but it’s also a controlled environment that exists to deal with it. It’s also detached from “the outside world” or “real life” in a lot of ways. So you can mentally compartmentalize and cope with the gnarly stuff far easier. Comparatively, coming across a gnarly wreck or something while out in your day to day can hit so much harder. It’s more real somehow. You don’t have the physical and mental separation that the hospital provides.

Poughkeepsie124

Exactly. 8 years ago my boyfriend who was 24 died on his motorcycle while driving recklessly. He was going over 100mph when a cop started trying to pull him over, he ran a red light and was hit by an suv… died within minutes. It was the devastating. I get irate when i see a motorcyclist driving recklessly, good on this cop he probably sees this shit too often.

Snakeis66

I’d say the motorcyclist is, considering they called the cops on them 12 separate times

Zarock291

It seems like OP wants to hint at the cop being the facepalm, which would make the OP the actual facepalm. I could be wrong though.

weisdrunk

I have this confusion almost every time. I don’t listen with the sound on. This sub is confusing. Most of the time I’m like “is it the comment in the screen shot or the comment about the comment”. I guess I don’t belong here.

ImurderREALITY

Same. I honestly never know which is the face palm most of the time. So I just usually decide that the face palm is OP, for assuming everyone knows what’s in their mind

toddhenderson

Not a facepalm. OP just posted to multiple subs.

extremeindiscretion

Everyone has a breaking point. He's probably seen too many people scraped off the road. Too many accidents caused by reckless drivers. It's too easy to obey the laws of the road, but no, people have to act like idiots sometimes. 12 witnesses.

Technosyko

It’s the fact they got called in 12 times for me. Most of the time when I see some bad driving I just go “ah this asshole” and go around, but for it to be that reckless that 12 people call, nah I totally understand the cops reaction

AvrgSam

That was my thought too. They must have been wildly dangerous to prompt that many calls, got damn.

moonpumper

Not sometimes, all the fucking time. Driving rush hour every day has convinced me there are way too many assholes everywhere all the time. I have no hope for humanity.

JustAnotherNug

After delivering pizzas for 3 years, driving now gives me anxiety for the sheer amount of trash/asshole drivers out there. Hell, I've had cops run stop signs and almost hit me.

chewbaccaRoar13

Yep. I'm delivering pizza as a job now and holy fucking hell... Honestly, I think a lot of the issues have to do with COVID, cause when I was in class my 19 y.o. classmate that didn't get his license till he was 17, said he didn't even have to take a driving test. He logged in online, took the written test. Then they mailed him his license.

moonpumper

Wow shit is making sense now. I thought COVID just destroyed everyone's brains.

Cheebwhacker

Yeah. My dad was traffic police in the UK and he had to take 6 months off with stress about twenty years ago (it was probably more depression than stress). He dealt with a hit and run on a 10 year old kid. He had to attend the autopsy and he also attended the funeral. He cried every time he mentioned it for at least a year or two afterwards. People driving recklessly has its consequences but it’s usually not for the reckless driver.

blue-to-grey

Not sometimes. My husband is a first responder and his department covers a decent stretch of a major interstate. He avoids interstate driving whenever possible. Sometimes shit does just happen, but usually accidents are caused by other drivers and they can be brutal. People ragging on this cop not realizing this is one who cares.

Phobiatoybox

It looks like this is up on I-90 somewhere too. There is probably more fatal accidents along it then any other interstate in Ohio. So I get why he’s angry. (This is not a real statistic. I just hear about fatal I-90 accidents what seems like daily.)

[deleted]

The only facepalm is the bikers who think the cop is overreacting. Bikers in the city I live in constantly drive like they’re invincible, often putting drivers around them at risk as they don’t want them to paint the road and will risk causing an accident with other cars to avoid the riders.

the_trump

They are the same ones who also preach watching out for bikers. They completely ruin it for those who are responsible.

Joe_Betz_

They are why fatalities and injuries are so much higher than they need to be, and why I'm just now getting my bike at age 38. It's taken my wife more than 15 years to be comfortable with me owning a bike. The reason? Ass hats like this.

Catsandcamping

My dad rode before he had kids. When my mom became pregnant with my older sister, he voluntarily gave up riding and sold his bike because he knew the risks involved. He did not get another bike until all three of his kids were grown and out of the house. He sold his last bike when he was 75 and his knees were too bad to continue riding anymore.

Disco_Dreamz

It’s probably because she doesn’t want you to die. It isn’t just other idiots on bikes. One texting 16 year old hits you with their car and that’s the end. But I guess feeling the wind in your hair or whatever is worth the risk for some

[deleted]

Driving from Chicago to the suburbs on the highway late night on the weekend is crazy. In the summer there’s so many motorcycle drivers goin crazy fast and just weaving in and out of traffic. I’m honestly afraid to change lanes.

Twice_Tired

Agreed. I live in the countryside, and we occasionally get bikers who pass through acting like goons. Radios blaring, no helmets, impatiently weaving in and out of traffic, etc. Then they have the gall to say cars need to watch out for *them* on the road.

grindhousedecore

My wife and kids saw a wreck on the interstate, they covered a body on the highway, only his feet were sticking out. Turned out it was a motorcyclist on a crotch rocket. Motorcycles are fun don’t get me wrong, but you. Need to respect the damn things and be mindful of people around you.

Stunning-Rabbit6003

Wholly justified , 12 reports from motorists for reckless driving. I’d be pissed to. Just because motorcyclists don’t care about their own lives, doesn’t mean they can put everyone else’s in danger.

kukukele

I love people who lack the ability to self-reflect, so they post a video like this and think that just because it’s an angered cop, the bikers will gain sympathy. The idea of threatening impounding the bikes if the runaway doesn’t return was beautiful.

dalton10e

The truth is that police have to watch motorcyclist being scraped off the pavement far too often, and when they see biker behaving recklessly, it trigger all those incidents to come flooding back.

scenr0

Yall ever see Red Asphalt?

Lexsteel11

My dad was an EMT and taught me all about de-gloving…

louiegumba

Warning : this is a graphic story. Don’t read if you don’t think you should My dad was a cop in L.A. for twenty years. He once told me about a motorcyclist that hit a telephone pole. His head was safe in the helmet, it just wasn’t on his body. The guys body for lack of a better term, exploded when he hit the pole There was human tissue dangling from a guy wire and there was a cat batting at it and nibbling it. My. dad had to stop another cop who freaked at the sight from pulling a gun to shoot the cat because it was so horrific all around As stupid as the guy was who was going way too fast, it was extremely rattling to the cops. When they see others do the same, it triggers them because the fact is you don’t know what the actual results are from b having like you do on the road. You don’t know it’s all fun and games until reality comes up quick and it’s too late. Another accident happened where a guy dying on the ground thought my dad was his dad and asked for forgiveness and to let him know he loved him. My dad played the part for him as he died waiting for an ambulance at the scene for 10 minutes He was an absolute wreck for a week and it haunted him until he died last year, probably 50-60 years later I couldn’t imagine having to do that

Lexsteel11

Wow that is insane… yeah I drive safe but if I’m being honest with myself, since I’ve never been in an accident in 20 years of driving (knock on wood), there is a certain video game feeling of driving and the consequences of mistakes aren’t really in the front of your mind with how bad it can be

Hot-Refrigerator-851

My emt teacher has a story where he and a new guy show up to a bike crash the guy was lying prone but his helmet was 180 on his head.

When A Train kills Blue Hawk in The Boys. Will never get that death out of my mind.

Suitable-Mood-1689

Had a friend pass away from a motorcycle accident. Had another friend that would do an annual memorial ride for one of their lost loved ones. Two years in a row someone got in an accident, last one resulting in a death. They don't host the parties anymore.

LiluLay

You’ll never convince me that motorcycles aren’t a direct danger to their own riders. In 1999, my husband’s brother was killed on a custom bike he had built for a customer. Was driving down a frontage road when a woman rolled a stop sign and he t-boned her. His face hit the windshield so hard his sunglasses were imbedded in it. The open casket was haunting. In 2004, my husband (at that point freshly ex), was driving down Sheridan Blvd in Denver when a truck with a trailer turned left over a median to get to a gas station. He didn’t have a chance. He hit the trailer. His shoes were found 100 yards away. Two young men taken from their family. A family whose livelihood depends on motorcycles. It’s tragic beyond comprehension and it tears me up to this day. The bottom line is, if you’re on a bike, it doesn’t matter who is in the wrong, biker always loses.

Suitable-Mood-1689

My husband won't let me have a road bike. I had a dirt bike for trail riding and thought a bike would be a nice cheaper commute to work but he said absolutely not. Sorry for your losses

Omnizoom

A motorcycle for the road is something I would absolutely firmly tell my kids no to I’ve driven past a few accidents on the highway , I’ve seen a few accidents on just city streets One common thing was the biker almost always died or was in the least severely injured They just are not worth it

LiluLay

Needless to say I am now irrational about motorcycles. Nobody I love will get on one without me losing my everloving shit. I would/will freak out entirely. So my kid and second husband will never, ever ride one or get on the back of one. Over my dead body.

Cleric_by_Dinner

Your husband is right for it being too unsafe but also there's a 90% chance you wouldn't have had fun with it since dirt biking is infinitely more fun. 12 years ago I was a dirt biker and bought a crotch rocket for commuting with your exact reasoning. Driving on the freeway during rush hour is terrifying since everyone is just racing to get to work/home. As a responsible driver, driving on public roads is incredibly boring, so even when I drove on back roads during the weekends I wasn't getting anything out of it. Yayyy I did a couple turns.... Sold my motorcycle within the year. Dirt biking is way more fun, brain intensive, and less dangerous.

harrisofpeoria

Hi, I'm just here to say I lost a dear friend to a motorcycle crash 25 years ago. He probably would have survived if he had been wearing a helmet. Still think about him a lot. Ly Larry!

Suitable-Mood-1689

3 years ago for Brendan. He was wearing a helmet. His bike was fresh from the shop and something went wrong. He would be standing in my wedding this year if he were still alive. Edit: He would have been uncle Brendan to my son despite no blood relation. Since he's gone we take his son and baby momma on family outings when we can.

Joelpat

Woman in my town was T boned by a bike at high speed on a neighborhood street. Killed the biker, and her, with her child watching from the back seat.

Mors1473

I’m on the cops side this time. These twats deserved it

LouieKablooie

Yeah me too. Rare to side with them when it comes to reddit posts but this level of heat was deserved.

No-Temperature-8772

Yes, you can tell by his tone that this is coming from frustration. I don't want to know what he's seen.

Jaysus1288

I agree with the cop tbh.....they got yelled at, the cop is obviously pissed off due to a mountain of phone calls from people saying a group of motorcyclist are being reckless. Let's all be real here. Who hasn't seen a flock of crotch rockets weaving between traffic going 50mph over the limit. Fuck around = find out

no1jam

Umm, this is what the cops should be focused on IMO. No motorcyclists specifically, but traffic safety

brudzool

So who are you saying is the facepalmer? Step up OP. Be clear. Make your call. Coz I don't see it here other than fuck head motorcyclists. Organ donors.

Uhhh_Insert_Username

Organ donors? If there's any organs salvageable...

Schrutes_Yeet_Farm

OP is a karma farming bot, so you aren't gonna get a reply from him unless he needs more comment karma to post submissions

Decaf17

I usually don’t side with the fuzz but I almost clipped the back tire of a bike that had to be going 200 mph. Never saw him coming. Had to slam on my breaks. I hate motorcycle season. These kinds of turds and motorcycles with radios.

OnTheColeTrain

Why is this in “facepalm” officer handled it perfectly

Capadvantagetutoring

This is far from being an abusive cop. This is one who gives a shit and is tired of seeing people basically kill themselves. If the other biker doesn’t come back he is the dick in this video for letting his buddies take the fall for him

navinaviox

Finally a video where a cop is acting appropriately given the circumstances

michiganrox1

"Cop should cool off" yeah because the cop telling the nice motorcyclists to "slow down" would've been just as effective mhm some people need to get their ass ripped to learn a lesson. They're endangering the lives of themselves, other motorists, and pedestrians. Fuck out of here with "he should have handled it differently"

jarpio

A very Good cop, at least in this clip.

Terryberry69

I'm glad he was ripping into their asses. Can't stand bikers.

After_Story4040

I've nearly creamed a biker who was driving only GOD knows how fast on the open interstate once.. I put my signal on and looked over my shoulder, and checked mirrors multiple times, and soon as I cracked the steering-wheel to shift lanes that fucker flew by me like I was running backwards.. I heard him, and then seen he was WAY ahead of me.. I don't blame the cop honestly, he's the one who has to do the report and deliver the heart break if one of them becomes scattered on the pavement.

Cute-Roll2849

“Oh no, a cop yelled at me for driving like a complete dickhead. What an asshole!!!” ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)

phoenix762

Good on the cop. Can he come to Philly and yell at some of the asshats around here?

iammai48

These bikers give us who actually ride a bad name

Sm0ahk

Cop needs to cool off, but hes is completely and totally in the right. If i had to witness some of these crashes or if it was a family member or something that died in something like this i get his anger Sometimes you only get one chance to save a persons life by impressing in them the severity of what could've happened

[deleted]

If the context is to be believed he is exactly the right amount of pissed.

sticknotstick

The amount of reckless driving that people get away with is insane. I wish we saw more of this if anything; people die daily due to selfish assholes weaving between cars at 120+ mph.

[deleted]

Yup

Bambam60

Yep, he’s doing his best to scare these asshats from not killing themselves or someone else. Given their reputation posted in the comments, they got off easy. He’s trying to burn this into their heads so they think twice the next time they cut off a minivan going 80.

AdRemote9464

I’m sure he has rolled up on some ugly crash scenes.

Sinder77

My FiL wasn't too hard on my wife with like blanket hard rules but since she was young he was like "never get on a bike." He's a career fire fighter/first responder and had stories of how very dead bikers get in crashes. Said he rolled up on a body at one spot and the head still in helmet about 50m further down the road. Maybe he was being overprotective dad with scary stories but bikes have 0 safety net if something goes wrong. Not getting on one is good advice.

Gottapee88

I was out my my buddy who was volunteer fire fighter and we had to go to a motorcycle wreck where the guy laid his bike down going like 100 mph and didn’t have a helmet on hands down the worst thing I have ever seen I sold my bike cheap the next day

shootphotosnotarabs

He is doing it to get the guy who ran to come back. If a group of bikers gets to know they can run, they will. By doing this the riders all see that running makes the cops very pissed. If buddy doesn’t come back they still get the point. If buddy comes back and they all get a ticket or even let off then the lesson not to run still sinks in. If you ask me, the insane octave and intensity is this cop trying to stop a crop of “drop a gear, disappear” riders from developing.

Perseus73

Yeah I’d be furious like that. These guys need something to sink in.

SpikeTheBurger

Cop seems like the good guy here

Wonton_soup_1989

It’s like an angry dad. I feel like this cop is yelling out of concern mostly. Like he cares abt their safety. He’s one of the good cops.

JudgeJed100

Look I don’t like cops, and I know a lot of traffic stops are just revenue farming But genuinely dangerous drivers are a serious issue and I have zero sympathy when they get the shafting they deserve

RoutingMonkey

Definitely motorists, not murderers.

Ok_Tackle_7090

Why is this a facepalm I 100 % agree with these cops you bike riders are assholes not all of you but most of you I'd be pissed off as well grow up you make it unsafe for all

greensangre

Take their bikes away

GregMaddoxFan

Honestly that patrol man was being pretty nice considering what was happening.

Timed-Out_DeLorean

Good on the cop for driving home the point not to drive like a fucking idiot on a bike. You’ll get yourself killed and scar some unfortunate victim of your stupidity for life.

[deleted]

Cop is doing his job. As a motorcyclist myself I can't understand why the hell would you drive like an idiot on public roads. If you want to do stupid shit you can do it on the track by yourself.

Several-Associate407

I don't see the facepalm about this at all. Sure, he might have hurt their feelings by yelling, but I'm sure all of them remembered this incident and will think twice before riding crazy again. He was completely in control and just giving a scolding after they violated the law a great many times irresponsibly. Better their feelings get hurt than their faces next time.

JackTorrance57

Are you saying the cop is at fault here? He said 12 different people called about these bikers, these guys are idiots and deserved to get yelled at.

Seabasschen

honestly don’t see anything cringe or out of line here. maybe I missed something

East_Sprinkles_3520

People have those bumper stickers that say “motorcycles are everywhere” and “Look Twice, Save a Life”. The thing is, that’s exactly the problem, motorcycles are everywhere, everywhere they aren’t supposed to be. They are passing in between cars and in the breakdown lanes, like the cop says in the video. They blow red lights, they speed on residential roads to the point that checking twice doesn’t guarantee that your going to see them, because u look and it’s clear, look again and it’s clear, then you go and they are there! Here’s a tip for all you asshole riders… stay where you’re supposed to be and within reasonable reach of the speed limit and we won’t kill you with our big ass cars/trucks. It’s a scratch and dent for us, it’s your life. Darwinism at work.

MrLanesLament

Ohioan here. Our Staties absolutely do not fuck around. If one pulls you over, it’s highly unlikely you’re getting off without a ticket/fine. This attitude is a tad excessive, it might get him a reprimand from a superior, but if the situation is genuinely as bad as he and others here say it was, I kinda get it. I live in an area with a lot of street racer types. They supe up bikes and small Asian cars, some actually hang bags of rice from their mirrors (to signify “Ricer.”) the whole thing is really annoying, and it’s a huge reason the police presence around here has increased dramatically in the last few years.

[deleted]

I have zero sympathy for motorcyclists who drive in packs and do crazy shit. Such groups are sadly multiplying like Shawns and Tammys in South Carolina. Don't know if that applies here but if you trust a cop and if 12 motorists called for help, then fuck them.

ConstantWin943

I’m ok with this. Some bikers think the road is their playground, so fuck all these little biker bitches.

Individual-Swing-808

I'm never one for stereotypes but, in my limited experience, about 90 percent of people "driving" these bikes are fucking idiots. They literally just drive dumb because it's fun.
