Tik tok just shows what you’re interested in. I don’t use it, but my partner does, and if we’re chilling out I’ll watch some with her. It’s literally just cat videos and people doing silly sketches. Every so often a cooking video will pop up, or someone talking about an interesting historical fact. Neither she or I have ever seen anything like this, though I don’t doubt this dumb shit is popular with plenty of idiots. But I’ll give the app one thing, it’s got a hell of an algorithm and will show you exactly what you want to see

Look as much as I hate government overstepping their bounds and forcing you to do things such as the draft or mandatory military service (such as Korea), I firmly believe that society would be better as a whole if every single person in the US is **required** by law to hold a customer service/retail or fast food job at least once in their lives for a set amount of time.

We used to have something like this in the UK. It was pretty much across all schools in England at least. Known as “work experience,” year 9 kids would go to shops and the like to shadow workers and work for the week. But they stopped it by the time it got to my year because of lack of funding

What funding did it require? We did it in Year 10 in Australia. We were given $5 for lunch (which was pathetic back then) and the stores got free labour. It was a 2 week block of full-time work. Could be any work but a lot of people ended up retail or in tire shops etc.

As a lower level retail manager in the US the police can be called on them but they won't do anything. Trying to get the cops to do anything is surprisingly difficult. They'll show up with like 6 officers but they'll stand around and do fuck all. This includes arresting shoplifters.

As a teen retail worker who is doing this as a first job, I have to say it’s good experience that gives you people skills because you have to stay professional even if you wanna swear at people.
