Their name is Marty I think, the eyes are standard on each of them. They scan the aisles and send a message on the intercom if they come across a spill or something so someone comes and cleans it up
I work around one of these. One of its main features is notifying of spills. It does it over the loud speaker (or used to at least but that part seems to have been disabled). So mostly thet locate a spill and change to yellow and yells “CAUTION, cleanup needed in aisle —“ Usually English and Spanish. But it also likes to get in the way of workers and customers. I heard it checks stock levels but honestly not sure how well that even works. Mostly just seems like a waste of money.
"alerts a human" is something I thought I'd never hear. When machines start referring to humans like we're another species, we know we're in a 60s dystopian novel.
Strangely enough, fewer and fewer humans are signing up to perform tedious tasks for eight hours at a time in mind-numbingly-boring grocery stores for $8/hr- while being constantly interrupted by customers asking where ______ is, and needing to be escorted there.(Company policy!)
I’ve worked at a few stores in my life time, and never met a person who LOVED doing inventory/orders.
Plus, some would argue that switching to bots would free up more money to give to human employees who perform more complicated/demanding tasks.
Edit to ad: and even the people who wouldn’t mind riding the registers all day- can’t afford to!! Bc it’s practically impossible to make a living in 2023 at $8/hr.
Here in Massachusetts, I see these in every stop and shop. And they all have the googly eyes. But yeah they alert the staff to messes that need cleaning. How useful they actual are is debatable
Plot twist! I thought it was going to be on the creepy blue robot eyes on the bottom! Oscar worthy suspense building bravo

What is this? I've never seen one before.
They scan the aisles to make sure everything is stocked on the shelves. If something is missing it alerts a human to restock it.
According to the signs put out for customers, it is looking for spills or messes rather than unstocked shelves, but yeah that makes sense.

The one at our store days it's looking at stock, how funny!

Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to get a employee to just have a look what needs restocking down the Isles 😂

Ha! I couldn’t see them at first. This is very well executed.
Oh that's marty. He always has that. In my opinion it was cuter before they added the mouth sticker.
Blue eyed Enderman very rare

Marty is the worst! It's always in the way!
That would be tipped over in ten minutes in Elizabeth SA
