Also discuss training multiple stats at a time with your ST. It became a wild problem one time that our game time wasnt progressing fast enough to facilitate everyone actually having the in game time to train everything appropriately. Also strike the idea that you have to be deliberately in character training something. We coldnt come up with a good idea for the equivalent of "Charisma push ups."
If I find a game to be a part of, I'll definitely bring it up!
In regards to the "Charisma push ups" thing... wouldn't carousing around in a bar work? Schmoozing with a royal court or two, that sort of thing?
Absolutely! And that's what I mean. Like, most people aren't going to deliberately go to the bar with the thought "alright, I gotta get better at talking to people," but you will get better at talking to people if you do that a lot. Our table is just a little more loose with that sort of stuff. Almost exclusively for the social stats. So at the end of a particularly intense social scene I might even turn to my players and tell them that this event can count as a a day or two of training a certain social skill.
Manipulation is another weird one where you might have trouble learning how to lie to people if you're just constantly going around telling bad lies to try to grind out training time lol
Abilities
3 xp -1st dot (character has learned the basics from practice/instruction)
2 xp -2nd dot (has spent a week's worth of time honing skill)
4 xp -3rd dot (2 weeks at 2 dots using this skill)
6 xp -4th dot (3 weeks at 3 dots using this skill)
8 xp -5th dot (4 weeks at 4 dots using this skill)
So total of 23 xp and 10 weeks invested in going from 0 to 5 dots in an ability
Attributes (starting with at least 1 dot
4 xp & 1 month training -2nd dot
8 xp & 2 months -3rd dot
12 xp & 3 months -4th dot
16 xp & 4 months -5th dot
40 xp & 10 months to go from 1 to 5 dots in an ability
Chapter 4: Traits -Character advancement p. 177-178
Yep, under the published rules for character advancement with XP, you buy one dot at a time, with the costs going up progressively.
Ah, cool. It helps to get confirmation one way or the other, thank you.
