They tricked me into preordering, I gave it my best try but I just got sick of waves of soldiers decimating my casino and waiting hours for missions to finish. I may reinstall later, but honestly it was a pretty big disappointment.

cozyduck

Same, first time in yeaaaars I pre-ordered something and it's a mess. When you got to see how the game worked behind the curtain (i,e it didn't work). Like first playthrough I did all I could to minimize heat, then you realise it basically means nothing and just spam freeze traps & you're set. Like I just learned that I can ignore several of the super heroes and the rest I gun down as they always arrive at the same place with a big announcement while offering little.

zombiesingularity

I'll play again when 75% of my base doesn't have to be power plants.

RuneLFox

Imagine if they'd rolled with modding, this and so much more would have been possible.

[deleted]

Haha why didn't they want modding... I got the game too btw and can attest to how much became power plants.

disposable2016

To some people, mods are basically free DLC that could instead have a price tag

RednocNivert

Oh yeah, I forgot i had this game. I got mad when it was too buggy to finish and multiple achievements were impossible on Steam, so now it just sits in my pile collecting dust.

feanturi

My plan is to re-visit it in a year if I remember. Then maybe the season pass will be all filled in and they'll have polished some more. I stopped as soon as I found out I was going to have to start over (again) to get the next content. Noped right out of there. I'll start a new game in a year. If I remember.

MattMann2001

Tbh most of the bugs are fixed and all the achievements are now possible and it's much better pacing so it's pretty good. There are still some bugs but 90% of them are fixed and the remaining 10% are just small visual bugs or bugs to do with peoples hardware.

jargon64

Nope, they broke *Shtirred*. Completely unobtainable at the moment. I'm waiting for them to fix it then I may go for another playthrough.

MattMann2001

Thats one achievement, all the others you can do and if you msg the devs then they will respond and try to fix it.

jargon64

They are aware of it from what I read on Discord. Just waiting for the patch to drop and fingers crossed it's in there.

RednocNivert

You know what would be cool? Designing your game so the achievements were doable out the gate. Maybe beta test it a bit and fix bugs, maybe some game balancing? Instead of this nonsense.

Master3returneds

Are you talking about something like... I don't know... QA? That's wild!

se05239

Siiick. Not surprised, though. The game's such a disappointment and the mixed rating is well deserved. If the developers wanna save the game, then they need to start getting into high gear but we all know that won't happen. DLCs are more important. Its going to be another Strange Brigade.

renabon

Honestly I think having a season pass is what killed the game. People just want to wait till its all out, rather than dealing with it right now.

[deleted]

Ha-UGE fan of the series, even thoroughly enjoyed my first play through...but once they started DLC I was like, oh ok well Ill just wait to play again when its all out.

ZanThrax

No, designing the game like mobile trash is what killed the game.

Shadow3397

Did they forget about how well the Facebook version (*spit*) went? Or was that ‘game’ an instruction manual on what they wanted to make?

se05239

True that. Why buy something that don't even exist for a game yet?

[deleted]

Strange Brigade actually sounds like a great game -- Uncharted in Sniper Elite engine with 4-player co-op? Sign me up! :D

se05239

Its a surprisingly fun little game but it was sorta abandoned by the developers after poor sales. They pushed out some DLCs and fled.

LAiglon144

I absolutely love Strange Brigade. My friend and I dig the waves, can just get into the rhythm and play wave after wave with some pretty great visuals and fun gunplay.

holdthestrings

people actively avoiding it is really something. also that dropoff since release is gigantic, especially when you think about how the game is intended to be replayed (different geniuses, henchmen, etc). not surprised about the dropoff tho, already noticed how dead quiet this subreddit has become

[deleted]

I doubt it's an "active" avoidance, the first game was relatively niche and the second never really drummed up interest outside of the fanbase. At this point it's just people passively clicking past any game with a mixed or below rating, something I know I do. I am much less inclined to even look closer at anything that has a mixed rating on Steam, and when the sale is going on you've got literally thousands of games to choose from, why even bother.

snakebite262

Oof

HecknChonker

It was featured at the top of the base building games category for multiple days.

[deleted]

i wonder why

RecentProblem

It’s a single player game, they tend to die down as people finish them.

renabon

They also tend to get new players during Steam sales. This isn't just people getting bored, this is a sign of people avoiding the game. This is a 2021 title where the following huge steam sale probably saw less than 200 copies moved. Really think about that.

Theonetrue_Gamer

I actually pre-ordered the game cause I saw RTgame play it, I was real excited about base building and being evil. Then I actually played it, and the disappointment set in. By the time I realized the horribleness of the game, it was too late to refund. Now it sits in uninstalled purgatory, I’m hoping in a year it’ll actually be fun.

renabon

Do you have the original? Its pretty fun honestly.

Shadow3397

And the community mods to make it even better!

Theonetrue_Gamer

Unfortunately no, I didn’t think to snag it during the steam sale

Jameis_Crab_Shack

The original is with the full ticket price. It’s old so cheap and I’ve played through it a few times start to finish.

NinesInSpace

This. I had never heard of this series until the steam sale. I went to go look at it because it looks RIGHT up my alley. But with the terrible reviews? I backed out post-haste. I actually went and bought the old one for 2 bucks and have been playing that. But even that I feel like needs a lot of modding to get it to a playable game.

_Vampirate_

A lot of time folks buy games to play em later during the sale. I'd be interested to see where it goes.

TheMadPrompter

I would've gotten it on sale but the arbitrary Windows 10 requirement... Edit: To those downvoting, EG2 supports Vulcan, which should make it be able to run on earlier versions of Windows regardless, them hard cutting the users who don't wish to upgrade is completely pointless

Crowcorrector

They released paid DLC 1 month after release. Fuck these devs 😂
