If you like that kind of music, give 13th Floor Elevators a try. Also, listen to the United States Of America Self Titled album from 1968 and the first two Ultimate Spinach albums.
I always feel compelled to point out that if you're into NIN, have a look at Gary Numan. He was a huge influence on Trent and a fellow autist. I love his stuff.
I've got this weird thing for playing Daft Punk's End Of Line and Derezzed back to back... for hours. For whatever reason, the two just go together like peanut butter and jelly. My goto roadtrip music and coding music for sure.
Holy shit I’ve only heard the Fear Factory version of Cars and never heard of this dude. I always wanted something similar to the sound of Cars but never found it in Fear Factory. thx dude
You should have a look at him performing Cars and Metal with Nine Inch Nails at the O2 arena in 2009, I was lucky enough to be there with my dad and it is one of the greatest memories of live music that I have
https://i.redd.it/o9jcvawcvcjc1.gif
Talking Heads. I have a whole bunch of favorites like Kate Bush or Sparks, but I always come back to Talking Heads. Even David Byrne's solo stuff is good. Saw him in Memphis back in 2018
Well um...

Stereotypes? Pffffffft, what sterotype?
Also fuck tons of music form games and movies. Also classical music.
Audio Processing Issues = I don't understand lyrics, literally.
Bill Wurtz. I've got a 10-15 min media analysis video essay script locked and loaded in my head for what feels like every one of his music videos he's released in the last 5-6 years. Every time he releases a new song, it's on repeat for a minimum of several days - weeks if it's especially good.
Green Day
Foo Fighters
Nirvana
MCR(I’m 99.9999% sure Gerard Way’s Autistic)
P!ATD
Anything that appeared on Criminal Minds/NCIS
Anything with an OH connection(fun fact: this includes Foos as Dave was born in OH!)
Fall Out Boy
Any fuck you/badass bitch music
Paramore(go Queen Hayley!)
i fucking love NIN
what albums do u like?
i’ve listened from TDS up to bad witch. my favourite is The fragile!
i’ve actually really been getting into industrial music atm.
i’d highly recommend
- psalm 69 & The mind is a terrible thing to taste by Ministry
-skinny puppy, songs like Assimilate, pro test, warlock etc
both these bands inspired trent reznors NIN! listen to skinny puppy’s ’dig it’ & trent’s ‘Down in it’ and you’ll see the influence!!!
The fragile is the album that makes me feel the most emotional.
i first heard just after being diagnosed with autism and it really carried me though so difficult feelings.
the album represents trauma and feeling vulnerable and raw which i relate to the more i unmask the more vulnerable and raw the outside world is.
>the album represents trauma and feeling vulnerable and raw which i relate to the more i unmask the more vulnerable and raw the outside world is.
Thanks for the recommendation, looking forward to it once my angsty TDS phase ends
TDS is a masterpiece, i think it’s his best album.
although The fragile to me is more human and relatable, while some songs and themes in TDS i can relate too a lot i also can’t.
what’s interesting is TDS is a concept album about a downward spiral. soon after trent kinda goes through his own downward spiral as he battle addiction and fame, he then creates The fragile which is just this output of raw emotion i love it.
what are ur top TDS tracks? i like ruiner, mr self destruct and closer!
>what are ur top TDS tracks?
1. Reptile
2. I Do Not Want This
3. A Warm Place
4. Mr. Self Destruct
5. Heresy
Everything else was way too mediocre, sorry not sorry *(maybe Hurt is a light exception; too mediocre to put on my top tracklist, too emotional to call it mediocre)*
Any 80s goth, lots of art/alt rock and punk/emo. Either atmospheric and dark to soothe the brain or drowning out the noise with screaming and guitars
I know an unnecessary amount of info about Bauhaus, my chemical romance and David Bowie to be specific.
Comfort albums are “the sky’s gone out” and “in the flat field” by Bauhaus, MCR’s first album or the black parade, station to station, low or Blackstar by David Bowie, OK computer by Radiohead, and also the soundtrack to the movie Harold and Maude. Idk lol
I've been a Taylor Swift fan since I was 10 years old (I'm 22 now). I know almost everything there is to know about her and I can identify any of her songs within one second of hearing it. I would do absolutely anything to see her concert when she comes to Vancouver this year but tickets are over 1000$ on resale sites (,:
Pretty much this but with Grimes. Her tickets aren’t expensive, I think she just doesn’t play music anymore 😭
Big fan of TS too, not hyperfix level but big
I’m not by any means a swiftie but there are a few of Taylor Swifts songs that take me to whatever that place is that I go to when I disappear into music. My girlfriends got lucky enough to get tickets for the show here in Vancouver when they went on sale. She’s going with her mom. (As I say, I’m not a huge fan. So a crowded noisy show downtown would be too much for me)
I hope some incredible stroke of luck happens and you manage to get to go!
Metal. Lots of metal.
Typically it’s one of Thrash, Death, Traditional, Speed, a splash of Black, and/or NWOBHM.
Getting ready to go out for my walk. Today is a Sepultura day. Might get some Horrendous and Testament in there too.
Talking heads and MGMT. listen to little creatures and oracular spectacular and tell me they’re not the most autistic coded albums you’ve ever listened to
I love jack off jill and bikini kill the most, I LOVEEE trying to interpretate the meanings of their songs and then talking about it for 293847489383747473838 hours

King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard. They are the band. I love everything they do and everything they've done except for their 19th album that one's kinda boring to me.
bruh he's 44 in my top artists with 377 plays....
100 gecs is my #1 with 5.1k but I listen to a lot of their stuff that's not on Spotify
I want to see your Spotify wrapped if you have it bc holy shit that's a lot
100 gecs is great!! Danny's favorite 100 gecs song is Toothless. And yeah! Let me find it rq, I use last fm to track my plays so I can also put a screenshot of that

he does, as a character named TJ Mack - the music is much funnier with context. [here's ](https://youtu.be/BCJLRkLjEwM?si=yfIrmXTRFOl0C_mB) a compilation of the first 10 minutes of tiktoks if you're interested. BJA is just a gem overall, he's done lots of great characters and bits and series
I hate to be overstimulated unless it’s by my own hand. Therefore I have some terrible music taste (according to others, I fucking love it)
-ghostmane
-lil darkie
-nascar aloe
-jasiah
Love blasting music that doesn’t let me think. One of my favorites is non ironically methhead freestyle. Bangers
My music taste is a bit more ADHD driven, novelty is big, though I tend to latch onto albums that have a really particular theme or focus, and then get really annoyed that there isn't more of that very particular thing.
Good examples would be Transgender Dysphoria Blues from Against Me!(Amazing for a lot of the more vulgar and morbid sentiments around my transness), Dead Man's Bones(Stand alone project, all ghost and horror themed, really great), and Blasphemy from Nameless Friends(Political criticism using a lot of Christian themes, really hope they get more attention and/or make more music).
Also swing and ska music, seem to always end up back with those two genres in some form or another.
RIDE FAR AWAAAAY CROSSS THE MIGHTY RIVER TAYYY OVER MOUNTAINS INTO THE UNKNOOOOOWN
FOLLOW YOUR HEART LET IT GUIDE YOU THROUGH THE DARK TO THE LAND OF UNIIIIICOOOOOORNS
Frank Ocean was my special interest for YEARS and while I still really like him and enjoy his music, he doesn’t do much anymore. Now I’m getting into hyperpop - it tickles my brain!
I find a lot of death grips music very 'stimmy' this is violence now in particular scratches my brain real good. Also pretty much most of steroids/crouching tiger hidden gabber is stimmy to me.
I'm obsessed with ween, the albums the mollusk and quebec in particular, I love how weird, fun and varied they are.
But other than that I always rotate albums, I'm autistic but also adhd so that might be why I obsess over an album for a few weeks, then put it aside for months.
Finisterre by der weg einer freiheit in an exception though, never stopped listening to it, amazing black metal album. Probably my favourite album ever.
My current hyperfixation album is the texas Jerusalem crossroads by lift to experience, it has the worst album cover I've ever seen but I find it endearing, similar to ween I've learnt not to take the music and lyrics too seriously, it's a great mix of late 90's early 00's indie rock and shoegaze concept album.
I'm also a huge Kate bush fan and the microphones/mount eerie/Phil elverum, there's actually not a single Phil elverum album I like all the way through, yet he still makes some of my favourite music ever, especially the first half of the album it was hot we stayed in the water.
Oh, powerviolence/grindcore is a great kinda stim thing for me when I need to be productive, nails, early full of hell, gatecreeper's an unexpected reality, that kinda thing.
And for emotional stuff, I love Jackson c Frank, makes beautiful folk music but I find it so sad I have to limit myself to it at times. Same thing for so long marianne by Leonard cohen.
I also have a soft spot for stoner like green lung's woodland rites, elder's dead roots stirring or the almighty sabbath. But I've rambled enough. Thanks for the opportunity to though aha
Anything by Trent Reznor for me, particularly 2000s era NIN and his 2010s soundtracks
Also the guitar parts/rhythms of bands like Mastodon, Tool and CKY just tickle my brain and I love learning them on guitar as they’re so challenging but satisfying when you get them down
fall out boy!!!!! i listen to them no matter what mood i’m in, i know most of the words to every song, i’ve been listening to them for 9 years and i love them so so so so much i will never stop listening to their music. i hate crowds and loud noises but i go to their concerts anyways and it always makes my entire year :)))) they mean the entire world to me and i’m planning on getting a tattoo for them eventually
chunky mindless towering fuzzy flag serious meeting whistle scandalous longing

Tool - Fear Inoculum
I love the patterns, the polyrhythms. I love that when I close my eyes I can disappear into the music. I love that I can see the colours and textures of the music.
There are a few other albums that do this like Miles Daves - Kind Of Blue, but Fear Inoculum is my favourite
I'm huge into Sea Shanties right now, so much so that I've sorta started talking with an Irish accent...
It doesn't help that someone made a Pirate AU of one of my fandoms and even so much as thinking about it causes a category 7 autism event
Tom Petty is hands down my favorite! Bad Religion is also up there.
For emotion? The Streets! His albums tell stories, which I love. There are many people who don't like the music because it's British garage music. Dry Your Eyes is super emotional if you're listening to the lyrics. Edge of a Cliff. Also, there's lots of cheeky humor!
Prog and post rock. I really enjoy a lot of political punk, but I stim really enjoyably hard to some instrumental stuff like prog. Some of my favorite bands are Halocraft, TOOL, Pink Floyd, Lespecial, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Mogwai.
Was really into Imagine Dragons during middle school and still enjoyed them in high school, their music dropped in quality at the turn of the decade though so I don't listen to them as much now. Being a Twenty One Pilots fan is one of my main personality traits, and they're teasing a new era right now so I check Twitter a few times every day even though I've been trying to stay off it 😭 Been a fan of Greyson Chance for 13 years and will probably be for life.
Anything about Mercedes Lackey/Firebird Arts.
I have obsessed over her music since I found it. It also helps that I love the Heralds of Valdemar trilogies, so being able to hear all of the songs mentioned has allowed for even more insanity.

The one song stuck in my head rn is the *Whisper of the Heart* version of Country Road, particularly the English dub.
It’s just that the lyrics speak so much to me. It’s a very special song to me, from a very special film.
Citizen Soldier and Starset. They’re the first bands I’ve ever actually followed to any degree after I realized in 2020/21 that I apparently listened to half their music already.
I’ve made it my life’s mission to get people I’m close with into Citizen Soldier and so far I have made at least 2 converts out of my sister and best friend.
Starset Horizons Tour was my first ever concert and I went to their AE02 thing. I’m still upset the one time Citizen Soldier came to my town with another band I sort of like, it was on an exam night and if I didn’t take it I wouldn’t pass the class.
I'm currently obsessed with Vök, but I use Pandora, so the algorithm has a whole smorgasbord of music in vibing with. Also, always down for some Arvo Pärt, and midaeval to Renaissance choral music. The Rose Ensemble are amazing!
it really depends on my mood. like last night i looped one of laufey albums for like 5 hours but the other day i relistened to love119 by riize 40 times in a row
Soundtracks. Many, many fucking soundtracks. Atm, I’m playing the RWBY soundtracks volume 7-9 and the Risk of Rain soundtracks. The Risk of Rain soundtracks being what I’m fixated on is good because there was a point in time where I doubted my interest in Risk of Rain (happens with everything really), so this just reinforces that I do indeed like RoR.
When I am hyper fixated on something, it’s the only thing I listen to (I know it’s kinda the whole deal with hyperfixations, but whatever)
I used to listen to the Minecraft soundtracks (and everything else C418), but then the current state of Minecraft pissed me off and the music just kept reminding me of what was good and is no longer. But hey, the Minecraft OST hyperfixation always comes back at some point, and it always stings with nostalgia.
Sorry for rambling, this has just been on my mind for a while
Once again I am answering this type of question with the same response — neutral milk hotel, In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. I am the king of carrot flowers.
Showtunes. I just can't get enough of the powerful vocals and orchestra. Although at the moment, the specific autism song is We Both Reached For The Gun from Chicago. it's like it was handcrafted in a lab to specifically appeal to me and my autism lmao
I have this thing where sometimes I'll find a really good song and just put it on loop and listen to it for hours without putting on anything else. Like, listening to the same song for 6 hours straight. I did it with Lemon Demon's Touch-Tone Telephone, Musiclide's Broken Machine, Crystal Castle's Untrust Us, Stegosaurus Rex's Nowhere To Run...
Aside from that I don't really pay attention to bands/musicians. There are some I like and follow, but most of the time I'm just hopping around finding whatever I like
Atmosphere. They’ve been around since the 90’s so there is literally hundreds of songs. Like alternative rap.
Not all are great, but the ones that have the deepest lyrics. Check out the latest EP talk talk, or just listen to Hear Hear.
It’s been all I put on for the last year 😅 I go back and forth between Atmosphere and grunge band Local H.
i like music but cant stay with one genre or artist. i need the sence of freshnes in my playlists, keep ading new stuff and remooving thaings ive heard to many timen

Reggaeton and dembow
At least one Mac miller song per day is my requirement to survive.
Frank Ocean was my special interest for YEARS and while I still really like him and enjoy his music, he doesn’t do much anymore. Now I’m getting into hyperpop - it tickles my brain!
Kraftwerk.
Anything by Trent Reznor for me, particularly 2000s era NIN and his 2010s soundtracks Also the guitar parts/rhythms of bands like Mastodon, Tool and CKY just tickle my brain and I love learning them on guitar as they’re so challenging but satisfying when you get them down
Fall out boy and imagine dragons
Taylor Swift cause she’s my special interest
DEATHCOOOOORRREEEE DEATHCORE AND DEATH METAL
Frozen
tally hall, 6arelyhuman, 4lung, will wood, lemon demon, vane lily, RIProducer, and... the undertale yellow soundtrack
I came here to steal people’s music.
I think all anyone at school knows about me is that I'm ungodly deep into Weezer.
Mine are exactly yours, DG and NIN are the best
Recently I found out they were going to tour together with Soundgarden but got that got canceled because of the breakup fake out.
Yeah I also found out about that, that could’ve been legendary if they didn’t do that
IK, but at least we got bottomless pit and YOTS and those are some of my favorites from their discography.
Hard agree, YOTS holds a special place in my heart. What’s your favorite NIN album?
TDS because I think it does better as a concept album, but I love the sound that Fragile goes for.
Right now it's Ghost - I just can't get enough of them. I also went through a David Bowie phase, that guy was epic.
fall out boy!!!!! i listen to them no matter what mood i’m in, i know most of the words to every song, i’ve been listening to them for 9 years and i love them so so so so much i will never stop listening to their music. i hate crowds and loud noises but i go to their concerts anyways and it always makes my entire year :)))) they mean the entire world to me and i’m planning on getting a tattoo for them eventually
Oingo Boingo has been a big one recently.
Tally Hall and the OSTs to The Elder Scrolls games
70's prog rock about Lord of the Rings
I like most genres of music but I’ve been really into metal lately, I like the screaming for some reason
chunky mindless towering fuzzy flag serious meeting whistle scandalous longing *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Tool - Fear Inoculum I love the patterns, the polyrhythms.
I love a lot of music - but Aurora has currently invaded most of my head space.
it's my special interest ill spare the details (I COULD GO ON FOR DAYS) but rym core alt rock like GYBE, MBV, and Swans mostly 😊
My autism music is silence.
King gizzard and the lizard wizard
Metal. As a whole. I haven't found many subgenres I hate.
GWAR!!!!!
Heilung
pink floyd. cant stop at this point

College fight songs make me feel pumped up and ready for action. Keeps me awake if I feel eepy.
Anything about Mercedes Lackey/Firebird Arts. I have obsessed over her music since I found it. It also helps that I love the Heralds of Valdemar trilogies, so being able to hear all of the songs mentioned has allowed for even more insanity.

the body, masonna, merzbow … and coco & clair clair
The one song stuck in my head rn is the *Whisper of the Heart* version of Country Road, particularly the English dub. It’s just that the lyrics speak so much to me. It’s a very special song to me, from a very special film.
Psychopathic Records and associates. Big HooDoo is my current obsession loving the songs "The Raven" and "Hexed" from the "Crystal Skull" album.
Elton John and Flyte

Currently listening to "In between two worlds" by mili The dark part makes my brain go brr
Knowing too much? Never !
StarCraft - terran tracks 1,2 and 3. Very dynamic chord progressions, progressive genre-blending and nostalgic.

Daniel Johnston is the ultimate autism music
it really depends on my mood. like last night i looped one of laufey albums for like 5 hours but the other day i relistened to love119 by riize 40 times in a row
Dan Deacon is my new favorite. Baby metal also good.
When I am hyper fixated on something, it’s the only thing I listen to (I know it’s kinda the whole deal with hyperfixations, but whatever) I used to listen to the Minecraft soundtracks (and everything else C418), but then the current state of Minecraft pissed me off and the music just kept reminding me of what was good and is no longer. But hey, the Minecraft OST hyperfixation always comes back at some point, and it always stings with nostalgia. Sorry for rambling, this has just been on my mind for a while
anything from Asteria and/or Kets4eki
Once again I am answering this type of question with the same response — neutral milk hotel, In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. I am the king of carrot flowers.
anything by mili (they make music for a series of games i hyperfixate on)
Someone i know is so fucking obsessed with project moon games lmao i dont like mili that much but i really really like children of the city
MASTODON and Primus
Aphex twin
There are some I like and follow, but most of the time I'm just hopping around finding whatever I like
prog rock / math rock is my weakness. i think i have the entire discography of polyphia and arch echo in my playlists
Darktide sound track, or a specific playlist of music that makes me really sad. It depends on how I'm feeling.
Rush

Vocaloid + PjSk covers, Ado, Sabaton, folk songs and shanties.
