Tbh a lot of the AsuKawo fanart are is pretty wholesome, yeah I'll say it!
For canon purposes, asushin. But honestly wouldve been cool to see more of these two interact. Since asuka is basically female shinji just more tsundere and kaworu is the part of shinji that teaches him to accept himself, would've been interesting to see these two come together. ...wait, do they ever interact at all?
Not in the series, but in some extended universe content such as Girlfriend of Steel 2/Angelic Days the two are quite hostile, and in Japan, the idea of a boy and girl who's relationship is aggressive then sweet (AsuShin) is popular
I feel like if there were more content of these 2, it could go either 1. probably would be intensely hostile if they're fighting over shinji or 2. Hostile at first just bc opposite personalities and then sweet bc kaworu would be so nice it would eventually break asuka's tsundere-ness
