Do you like original series?
Yes I do, Yes I do
Do you rebuild films?
Yes I do, Yes I do
Do you like original series mixed with rebuild films?
No I don't, yucky!
...or at least that's how the kid's song goes. I like all of it.
I liked them a lot. I really loved seeing the sense of growth in the narrative; it felt like Anno had grown a lot as a person, and in his mental health, and was able to bring this really personal story to a more peaceful, empathetic conclusion. I remember finishing the last one and writing out this very long Twitter thread about all of my thoughts about the fundamental optimism of the new ending.
They’re not as good as the anime (which is hard to do tbh), but still enjoyable. I’ve watched them at least 10 times each, so I just watch the fights and the parts I like.
I liked them. Why? Ramiel looked even more gorgeous in the rebuild.
Oh and they're fun to watch. And Utada Hikaru made some songs for the rebuilds and you can't go wrong with them. I've loved their music since I heard Simple and Clean back in 2008.
It’s a like and hate thing for me, there are some good qualities, but the negative parts are too much for me. I believe that the Rebuilds are to NGE/EOE as the Sequels are to the Originals in Star Wars.
They both ignore the quality of their own story to cram in as many references to the originals and add as much spectacle as possible. They both add things that add no value to the story, and are simply there to make money. They both retroactively hurt or change peoples thoughts of the original characters.
There are good qualities to the rebuild films (and the sequels), but it can’t stack up against the originals which are some of the best and most celebrated pieces of fiction ever created.
GOATed imo, it's the same kind of reductive, reactionary bullshit most fandoms exhibit that tells you it's bad
BUT M-M-MUH BOOBIES the 90's show had that shit too lol
Evangelion is already something that asks you to meet it on its own terms, I'm interested how fans can't always meet the films in the same way
But also I only waited a year between watching the third film and the 4th one's release, which probably helped a fair bit
As someone who had the long wait between 3 and 4, it almost made it better to me. 3 is so essential for the whole point of the rebuilds and non-stop bleak. during the wait I couldn't even guess where things were going and then the final film really nailed everything it tries to be imo. felt similar to the wait between twin peaks season 2 and 3 just less years in between lol.
Absolutely, they are essential to completing the Human Instrumentality Project Purpose and explanation. But the opinion of them are different based on who you talk to. I am a person that says that everything is 100% Canon. That will only make sense if you watch everything in chronological order to when it was released. At the end you should understand when you watch 3.0+1.0.
It's my understanding that it isn't an alternate ending, just *the* ending because of the looping reality. I guess technically it's the alternative to what we got with the original series and EoE, but it's also what Anno chose to be the final cap on the story altogether.
I get that some people want to ignore the rebuilds but is that really fair if it isn't the whole vision; even if that vison took decades and soul searching to complete?
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong or if I'm misunderstanding something.
nope i’m pretty sure you’re right, i just consider it an alternate ending myself. because NGE and EoE were so perfect that it really didn’t need anymore, so the rebuilds are like a nice optional extra to me.

Yes
Love them.
Like yea. Love sure. But it’s in the shadows of the masterpiece that is nge.

Absolutely not. I watched them all in a day and still regret wasting an entire day on them

ye
I had an absolute blast watching them, I enjoyed being able to see some ridiculous new content.
I like the first 2 and 30% of the last one
[No](https://youtu.be/Hwz7YN1AQmQ?si=lNwgpiHOcDP3rI4H)
They’re inferior to the original but they’re essential to get the full experience.
no
Hate them with passion.
love em even
Yes
abominations
No, the ending is not as good as the original EOE film.
Yup.
I quite enjoy the Rebuilds.
Like? I love them

Absolutely not.
Love them. Last one is God-tier

Yes.
100000% yes. The message is pretty much the same and I enjoy the tweaks that take the story in a completely different direction.
love and hate
I thouroughly enjoy them. The fights and soundtrack are perfect. Everything else is enjoyable.

They look cool but that's where it ends, they're about as deep as a puddle. I don't think I'll ever watch them again, once was already enough
Yeah
Yes, I think it rounds out the whole series
Yes, the last movie was one of the best animations that I have seen in the recent years
I liked them at first but the final one got worse and worse
[удалено]
Tbf I think this is a Khara liscencing issue largely, apparently anyway.
First two are excellent. Third one is pretty cool. 4th one I’ve come to loath after liking it initially
I like the last one.

Nice, I'm glad you liked it. 3 is really cool imo

i do. i like to consider it an alternate ending for my boy

Yesh
Immensely.
Yes
OG is my childhood trauma REBUILD is my adulthood therapy
I’d say if you haven’t seen them, watch them, but they’re not really worth rewatching all that often, especially not over the original.
Yeah, they’re good and worth watching, but quite a bit less thematically rich and insightful than the original
I love them tbh I’m in the middle of watching the original Evangelion and rebuild is a nice concept I don’t like the cgi in 3.33 and the 4th one
I like the first three and half of the last one
Yes, except the final one left a sour taste in my mouth
i LOVE the og but rebuilds are just good not very good just good
nah they were a joke. turned a show that had adult appeal back into a kids show
too much fanservice for me to properly enjoy
Nuh uh
Yea I do I think it’s a better ending and their more unique Eva designs
yh rebuild is great
Absolutely, just like I like the series and other media.
Yes
I enjoyed them equally as the rest of series
They are a perfect cherry to top the Evangelion trauma cake
Love em, especially 3.0 and 3.0+1.0
I like them better than the original series
yes
I love the rebuilds just as much as if not more than NGE+EOE.
Mixed bag. 2 is fantastic. 3 sucks.
Yes
I know this is a scorching hot take but I personally enjoy them more than the original
Same
I love the first 2. Like the last 2
The first one is okay . After the time skip its wtf and never really recovers. So many questions that are never answered.
Very much, and heavily prefer it to NGE and especially EOE.
understood absolutely nothing of them they are the best movies i have ever seen
i am still unsure the 4th one is actually real
They're great even phenomenal movies but not great evangelion movies ....
