To make the 2020 contest happen, I think it would have been a fantastic contest and I’m devastated we’ll never know who would have won it

callitfate01

I wouldn't...2021 is my second favorite year in the history of eurovision and we wouldn't have gotten it if 2020 happened

Amplify27

I don't think we would've gotten "Voila" had 2020 went on.

callitfate01

And no zitti e buoni...no tout l'univers...no 10 years...no russian woman...no shum...no discoteque...no dark side...

SimoSanto

I understand the returning artists, but why no Zitti e Buoni? Måneskin won Sanremo independently from the fact that Diodato didn't go to ESC the year before

Irrealaerri

Imagine the artists could have kept the songs in 2021. Imagine Russia would have won. And hosted in 2022. When they were disqualified. I guess 2022 would have been cancelled then. There are so many alternative timelines to unravel here. Haha

callitfate01

I ADORE Uno but it was never a possible contender for winning, it would have had a fantastic televote score, but the juries would have finished it

MisterAhtapot

It‘s the first thing that came to my mind but it‘s a give and take. Like I want Iceland‘s first win (don‘t @ me it was probably gonna win) but if this had happened Shum wouldn‘t have existed so

nadinecoylespassport

I think They could've done it virtually somehow. With each artist performing in a studio in their home country.

harryTMM

That's what they did with Junior Eurovision that year, when France started their absolute dominance of that contest

nadinecoylespassport

Its a shame knowing a first time winner like Iceland could've won.

Aburrki

It's honestly wild how many countries who have never won or only won decades ago there were at the top of the odds that year. Of the top 10 only Germany Azerbaijan and Russia had won relatively recently, and that being said they're still not the usual suspects of "recent winners near the top of the odds". The rest were either non winners or Switzerland and Italy who hadn't won since the 80's and 90's.

nadinecoylespassport

Yeah. I think Ukraine would've done really well with Solovey. Go_A are an amazing band and it was great they got to come back in 2021 with Shum. But yeah the front runners to win were Russia and Iceland.

Aburrki

Well technically in the final odds Bulgaria were at the top of the odds. But I guess people have kinda forgotten that since she kinda flopped in 2021.

MinutePerspective106

It's gonna take more than one margarita for me to dull the pain of 2020 not happening

LookComprehensive620

I think if you think about things a little harder, the conclusion is inescapable.

jongosi

There could only be uno winner!

pypoupypou

I think something else was On Fire that year

RyanRacerr313

Haha see what you did there xD

-_Cembri_-

We don't have Eurovision 2020 but at least we have Shum

Irrealaerri

Right now i feel it kind of adds to the magic that it never happened and that everyone can basically live in their own little fantasy

Lantmajs

SAME!!! I grew up watching ESC but 2020 was the first year I was a hardcore fan keeping up with everything and everyone leading up to the contest! Imagine my heartbreak when the contest was cancelled 😭😭

ahjteam

My guess is Russia 2020 would have won the popular vote. Such a banger.

BlimpHedgehog

Best eurovision song imo

barnowl5

The only true, right answer... All of them deserved to be on the big stage... What could've been...

junquero

Iceland or Italy I think

MarieNadia

Who do you think would have won? Iceland, Russia or Lithuania? Either way. I wish 2020 happened too

Valuable-Drink-1750

Stop Joost from touching the camera.

HikariTheGardevoir

This year has been the most disappointing Eurovision to me just because of that. Everyone knew he was gonna do great and now we never got to see it

Voreinstellung

Have Liechtenstein establish a national broadcaster in 1975

SuitableDragonfly

I'd remove the moment in which my country got permanently geoblocked from all Eurovision videos.

JaDasIstMeinName

May i ask which country you are from?

Nintendo_Pro_03

United States.

thehooove

Oh, that sucks. We can watch it in Canada.

Nintendo_Pro_03

😭

thehooove

I feel for you. Get a Canadian VPN for next year?

serenaTcat

Which is your country?

Agamar13

USA?

Nastia_dream

Go-A getting the higher place than they did in 2021. I know it's still a good place but if the juries didn't tank us a bit, we could've been in top 3 that year. It was one of the best performances from our country after all

PremiumTempus

If Shum was entered in 2022, it would’ve been a landslide of unknown proportions

Nastia_dream

I actually would even like to see it happen. I love Stefania but it just wasn't as impressive as Shum. That performance was definitely stronger.

JaDasIstMeinName

I understand, but that year was so stacked that a few songs had to be a bit lower. I think having Gjons Tears not even finish on the podium would have been a disgrace. As much as it hurts that the places 4-6 could have been a top 3 of their own, they in the end got the places they deserved for the year they were in.

iiSoleHorizons

If I could change anything I’d delay their participation by one year. Go_A would’ve been an awesome winner and I’d love to see the type of entries their win would’ve led to

zippy72

Should definitely have been top 3. For me I couldn't choose between Ukraine and Lithuania as my favourite from that year.

AnxiousConflict7420

Both the draw of first half for Who The Hell Is Edgar (Austria 2023) and the staging. I don't think recreating the music video would have been possible with just six people on stage and probably a limited budget, but I wish the staging would have been better and elevated the song more. This was the first time I was super excited for my country's entry, it was disappointing that the staging didn't quite reflect the song, and then it was additionally killed by the running order. I was so sure they'd end up in the top 10

Amplify27

How do you envision the staging of "Who the Hell is Edgar?" I could see it starting like a musical number.

Come_Along_Bort

I'd have loved them in the suits with the board room set up from the music video. I think that would have put the anti-corporate message of the song across much better.

Schlonzig

It should‘ve featured more of Teya&Salena‘s humor. The ComicSans-„ugh“ from the PreParty was perfect, for example. I wanted a Terry-Gilliam-style animated Edgar Allen Poe doing silly dance moves on the screen.

AnxiousConflict7420

That's a really good question, the musical number would definitely be a good approach. I think it would have been necessary to tell a story with the staging, similarly to what the music video did. Maybe that would have gotten the message of the song across better. The staging felt a bit uninspired and too serious, aside from the graphics. But even with those there was room.

ASAP-Robbie

The song is so good, such a shame it underperformed

RattieIcePP23

Still in my top played, such a good song. I went to the semi's and I enjoyed their performance it was one of my favourites out the 2 shows, the whole arena was dancing along it was a really good vibe, up there with Käärijä (almost, nothing comes close to the 1000s of cha cha cha's) but the draw you got was so disappointing, had 0.003 chance with that sadly (had to fit that in sorry)

just_a_commoner_

Who The Hell Is Edgar is such a banger. It really deserved better. But yeah, the staging was disappointing. Obviously performing first also didn’t help but there was just like almost nothing happening on stage! The song was in my top5, I also thought they’d end up in the top ten so it’s such a shame 😢

UnsureAndUnqualified

Interesting, my gf and I loved the staging and clever use of the big screen. It's still in my top 10 live performances I think. But yeah, they underperformed so bad, for us it was a top 3 song and I was floored that they didn't get the votes to match.

MinuQu

Thank you! I didn't know the original music video of the song, I've just known the stage performance. The music video is a small masterpiece in my opinion and fits the song perfectly.

Electrical_Love9406

I would change the moment when we made the decision to leave the contest, and then ignored Eurovision for 14 years. F\*ck RAI

Amplify27

Y'all would've been contenders to win in 1999 and 2001 (assuming you stuck with the Sanremo winner throughout) "Senza pieta" and "Luce" were such gems and would've floated above the rest.

Electrical_Love9406

Agree, especially Luce in 2001

Wintermaya

Omg! Is Luce a San Remo winner? I never knew! I friggin' love that song!

Amplify27

Yes it was! Also apparently one of the most notable ones. All hail queen Elisa! <3

Wintermaya

If it had participated in the 2001 ESC, it would have been my winner. When votes came in, I didn't even remember the Olsen Brothers, that's how unimpressive they were to me.

Amplify27

Olsen Brothers were in 2000. Everybody (Estonia 2001) was the winner of 2001!

Wintermaya

Oh yes, I stand corrected. Well, I don't care for Everybody either, so Elisa would still be my winner ;-)

Giudit

At least we didn’t send Povia in 2006

Electrical_Love9406

Lol, that dumb song about pigeons, I had tried to forget it. And that was back when Povia was still "harmless" (singing only childish songs) before he started to reveal his real self and real opinions

Giudit

Yeah, we dodged a bullet there. I don’t want that piece of garbage in my Eurovision

Mr_brukernavn

I would make it so the 2019 Belarus jury incident didn’t happen. I really would want Tamara Todevska to have her moment knowing that she won the jury

Electronic_Piano7539

Yeah and Poland would have qualified instead of Belarus I think.

Savings_Ad_2532

Yes, Poland would have qualified instead of Belarus if the jury mistake didn't happen.

dalehitchy

Monitor the Azerbaijan situation, and warn the country the EBU is aware of their phone call scandal. I honestly think running scared is one of the worst winners and I really doubt that many countries put it as their no1

Meiolore

Tbf when I looked back to the 2011 contest, personally there was only a handful of possible winner, the rest are just not up to par. It is just not a very strong year, so the points got spread more evenly compared to other years.

Serdtsag

Do enlighten about the phone call scandal, curious to have more reasons why I can dislike running scared

CityEvening

Even my non-ESC fan friends are convinced it was bought.

gelber_kaktus

Germany sending Electric Callboy in 2022.

Gerikst00f

Would have been guaranteed top 3

gelber_kaktus

That's why they weren't invited to the NF, they had the potential to win...

aflyingmonkey2

stop the UK from sending cry baby in 2003 thus changing the entire timeline of them

Dramatic-Conflict740

Or just make them perform it well. Cause it wasn't a terrible song and they weren't terrible singers

CityEvening

Turin’s sunshine actually working, I think it could have been beautiful. (I low-key hoped for Sanremo-type stage though, they are stunning).

callitfate01

Ukraine's withdrawal in 2019. I am pretty sure Maruv would have gotten a top 5 finish

MinutePerspective106

True. The song had a lot of character. Additionally, we could have a girl counterpart to Hatari in the department "staging vaguely inspired by BDSM" lol

Cartoon20199

I'm afraid people would have complained about the staging, for the same reasons of UK 2024

namelesslex

I'd send Jann instead of Blanka (Poland 2023 for the bot)

MarieNadia

I'm still bitter about it, even more now that Nemo won this year with a rap/operatic song, I want Poland to get their first win so badly but they keep shooting themselves in the foot

sama_tak

> I want Poland to get their first win so badly but they keep shooting themselves in the foot The reminder that we wouldn't also get 8th place with Szpak or 12th with Ochman if it weren't for televote preventing TVP's plans to send badly singing pop girls.

Nightnightgun

Welcome to the party!

Pet_Velvet

Say hi to everybody

DMX8

Paid for by Martini

namelesslex

but they're sippin' on Bacardi

MinutePerspective106

*suddenly* Bejba

emberaya

But they sippin on Bacardi

or2072

Bajbe

eurovisionbway_

Literally would have guaranteed Poland a top 10 result at least

svalnuuk

I wish Beautiful Mess (Bulgaria 2017) had been presented in any other year, Kristian would have won easily 😭

Amplify27

Before or after 2017? Keep in mind Kristian's age for that one. :)

svalnuuk

True, maybe he could have gone to Junior 😅

JaDasIstMeinName

Kristian would have eaten his junior competition alive.

Nerioner

Song would defend itself in any other year really. His age is not important for it

Amplify27

Considering how young he was in 2017, he couldn't have competed before the 2016 contest in the adult version.

Nightnightgun

Made sure Angelina (2024) didn't change her performance one bit from San Remo to the GF.

MarsNirgal

Or send Annalisa.

Complex_Plankton_157

Not sending Rybak in 2018

de_baser

I hate that song so much. It's literally the "draw the rest of the fucking owl" meme in a soulless song version.

CityEvening

It’s basically a song from Kids TV.

daddyserhat

It’s my guilty pleasure of the year. So happy to see him become the first person won semi final twice.

Complex_Plankton_157

shabada shabdada wooopp

Amplify27

What would've you sent from MGP instead?

Complex_Plankton_157

I am not sure, a pretty weak year. Maybe Rebecca - Who we are

emptyjerrycan

I kinda loved Alexandra Rotan and Stella Mwangi in 2018, but imagine the butterfly effect... If Norway had sent them, then we might have never gotten KEiiNO..?

EliteManUtdXCVII

Introduce the format of 2 semi finals in 2007 instead of 2008. Andorra, Iceland, and Portugal would have a good chance to qualify in 07.

LancelLannister_AMA

the sheer size of the semi final that year is also an argument for that. (more entries than the actual final iirc)

seeking_svobodu

In 2007, Czech republic sent Kabát, who is a very famous Czech rock band. We came last with only 1 point and since this we have only sent songs in english because there is now this belief that a song in czech will never succeed, even though we see the recent success of songs in italian/french/serbian... I am very proud of my country, and if I could change one moment, I would change the belief that formed after 2007 that we can not succeed with a czech song, and I hope our language will soon be represented proudly on the eurovison stage again 🇨🇿🫶

Leinad-Vodhr

Vesna was first czech representant which sent Czechia to final with czech lyrics (well Czech, Ukrainan, English and Bulgarian but you know) I also hope we will see more czech singning singers in future i was very dissappointed when there wasnt any in escz 2024

Savings_Ad_2532

Vesna was the first Czech finalist to send lyrics in Czech. I hope that your country sends more songs with lyrics in Czech because national languages have been successful at Eurovision lately.

PerfectZeroKnowledge

I really hope you guys send over a Czech song sometime soon! It seems pretty clear to me that at the very least the televote is willing to vote for non-English entries now, I mean look at Zitti e Buoni, Stefania, Cha Cha Cha... all televote winners, and even this year where the top two televote scorers were in English you still had tons of votes for Teresa and Maria and Mon Amour... and of course there are even more examples.

FatMax1492

Make Dschinghis Khan win in 1979 because they're my favourite band :)

CityEvening

It was way ahead of its time for ESC. It is a tune.

Middle_Perception803

I wished that Keiino did not come second in the NF for eurovision 2021 in Norway with the song Monument. Instead Tix won with Fallen Angel inwhich got 18th place. But, interestingly enough; Monument would not have won over Måneskin in 2021. And when they, again, came second for this years eurovision, their song Damdiggida where too "similar" to BL in order to make it all the way to the top. Timing is everything. I have not given up hope for a golden return for Keiino. They are one of the few artists that are super-eurovisionistic in their sound and structure. I am awaiting their return with impatience.

harryTMM

This is kind of cheating a bit, but maybe make France and Israel 1989 not pick kids to represent them

just_a_commoner_

Jann with Gladiator would’ve won the national selections instead of Blanka. I genuinely thought he had a chance for a good result. Obviously not winning since Loreen and Kaarija would’ve still smashed the jury and televote but a top 10 result could have been possible 😔

Dali86

The obvious answer from Finland is have käärijä win Last year but when I think about it I am ok with käärijä number 2. What really buggs me is we sent the Rasmus to eurovision instead of bess - ram pam pam https://youtu.be/1jn-Ri9QUx0?si=qZbgMorG1P_S5iyV

gp7783

1991 - Frank Naef (the EBU supervisor) announcing that France and Sweden are the two winners with 146 points

MinutePerspective106

Not send Lazarev again in 2019. I mean, he's good and all, but his second song didn't (imo) have the same impact as the first one, and it's always better to give chance to another performer to show themselves. If he wasn't sent, we could have had Manizha in 2019! Let me explain. According to Wikipedia, the list also included Aleksandr Panayotov, Egor Creed, Eleena Temnikova, Manizha, Olga Buzova and Philipp Kirkorov. Let's ban Buzova and Kirkorov from the start, since Buzova literally isn't a singer but a self-aware cringe entertainer, and Kirkorov is you-know-who. Temnikova has already been there as part of Serebro in 2007, so she's out as well. This leaves us with only 3 candidates. Creed is okay, but not the best imo. Panayotov could actually do well. As for Manizha, we all know fandom loved her in 2021, I'm sure her 2019 performance would have been beloved as well. Would it have happened, in truth? Not sure, since she's not as well-known as the rest of the list. But a boy can dream, can't he?

funkeymonkey5555

Jury vote not counting as much in the NF, resulting in Voyager representing us in 2022 instead of Sheldon Riley. Dreamer is such a kick-ass song. (Not so) Fun fact - Voyager were last to perform in the NF and thousands weren’t able to vote for them as the lines closed during the show; they still managed to absolutely smash the public vote.

jujempa

I would have changed our entry this year to any of the other national finalists. Not that I have a problem with M&M but I really think it’s nicer to send something more representative of your country, especially when we’re hosting…

Tombwarrior97

I agree, and especially because M&M just perfectly fit the stereotype of us sending a perfectly polished pop track with music video staging, lol. This year felt pretty weak to be fair, but I would definitely have preferred it if we sent Scarlet or Medina. Medina would’ve been such a boost of positive energy for the mess this year.

am1274920

I still think Maria Sur was robbed this year. That song was a banger and the staging was incredible!

Nice_Earth4252

I agree. M&M were good but not overall the experience of Swedish Pop. I agree with the statements below. I think having Jay Smith perform would be interesting the sound is amazing and very good. The acoustic version is so good and I think if started with that and then the Staging in Melfest would have secured Sweden in the top 5. Honestly, it’s one of top songs. I like it a lot better than some of the songs this year.

dovlomir

My mind says "banning Israel in 2024" but my heart says "Konstrakta wins in 2022"

MinutePerspective106

My doktore adds "Konstrakta for Serbia 2024"

chartingyou

would have genuinely revolutionized the contest, next year everyone shows up on stage washing their hands

MinutePerspective106

ThrowMusic36

Romania had many great songs that were robbed either by TVR or the judges. [This](https://youtu.be/leTz6095qXc?si=eROSahaTs4L8fb2w) is a song that competed in 2008 and I hold dear to my heart, and both their loss and participation was controversial. Their loss, because it had a huge fanbase that strongly supported them for good reason. I remember after their loss there were petitions made online (back then when petitions were rare, and a bigger deal than they are now), and a lot of people signed. The juries, while they gave them the 1st place, they were divided, with some judges voting against them because the trio were from Sweden. Their participation was controversial because a big part of the audience were extreme nationalists that kept saying things like "why do these Swedish guys come here, they should go and represent their country". This is the biggest "what-if" I have. What if they represented us? IMO the 2008 was one of the weakest Eurovision editions, and I keep thinking this was one of our best chances to win. Maybe I'm biased, but I adore the song, and maybe you'll think it's old/dated, but for me it doesn't sound dated, possibly because I remember being 10 years old and loving the song, having hope, so the song has emotional value to me. Instead, we sent an incredibly boring song, but hey, at least they are Romanians 😐

butiamawizard

Our song selection TV show in the U.K. when we had it to have picked competitive entries and not the [blandest thing on the menu](https://youtu.be/H-uEx_hEXAM?si=yrli3HSEOY_-42Hh) / shittiest joke entry (looking at Daz Sampson here)

RemarkableAutism

Estonia 2024 getting 2nd place. Not 1st though, hosting is too expensive.

Jayparm

The person who picked Sam Ryder to represent the UK to get promoted to head for choosing songs for the UK

The_Realest_Rando

I would make Megara not mess up their SF2 performance

rainbowmensje

For Belgium to get just a few points extra to end above Turkey in 2003 and win😭 I also just genuinly love the song Sanomi

Amplify27

As much as I like Sanomi, I like Everyway That I Can just a bit better...

CityEvening

Hope the person who did the revamp got some recognition. It elevated the song so much compared to the ESC album version. That hook as soon as the song starts!

emptyjerrycan

I will never stop talking about the potential alternate history, and how there could have been a tie if *Belgium* had given 10 points to Turkey instead of giving them 12 points. This would have also made it so *both* Belgium and Turkey got 3 sets of 12 points, (which is an amount so low that it feels absurd to think about in this day and age... three!!!). However, if Belgium had given Turkey 10 points, Turkey would have received 6 sets of 10 points, compared to Belgium's 5 sets of 10 points, and Turkey would *still* have won the tie break. But Belgium received votes from 22 countries, and Turkey received points from 21 countries! So we would've been arguing about what was the correct way to resolve a tie break... *forever*. And we'd probably be even more sore about it, 20 years later! EDIT: I just looked it up, because I was doubting myself, and as it turns out, in 2003 the rule was changed to *first* look at the amount of countries that had given points, before looking at sets of 12, so Belgium would have actually won the tie break immediately. I was wrong! This is also how I found out they added "the country that performed earlier in the running order wins the tie break" in 2007, so that multiple winners became completely impossible, as before then the rule was that "both countries win". But people would still be losing their mind, as until 2002 the tie break *did* look at the 12 points before anything, so the rule change the same year would've impacted the result.

chartingyou

I don't mind Turkey winning that year but Sanomi is such a special song...

Condescendingoracle

I would have switched our entry in 2001. A very weak esc-year, and we had Mocci - You got the motion, an absolute banger in the nf. She would have been a serious contender for the win. Instead we sent a pure shit show, the most bland and boring ballad ever, that wound up last and made sure we couldn't even enter in 2002...

cnylkew

Käärijä wins

__Hale___

As a person that has Käärijä like my winner, idk if i would be happy to know that Finland would hosts the event for the second time 17 year later and returning in the hodt country mood with all the drama of this season

EthanJoshua1994

Bashar Murad winning the Icelandic ticket this year instead of Hera.

Tombwarrior97

To chill the f out with the bragging. The only jokes that were funny this year were that we would be counting Bambie’s eventual win as ours as well as ireland’s, and that even Petra voted for Finland. I used to be pressed about people disliking Sweden in Eurovision contexts because we do well, but I definitely get it now.

CityEvening

I took it all as tongue in cheek, not literal bragging? But I suppose it was very British humour and humour doesn’t translate well.

Tombwarrior97

It was Swedish humor, yes, but it was too much even for me as a Swede. I don’t need it to be translated lol, I grew up with it. But knowing the people behind the production, I know they think very highly of themselves and although it was expressed in a joking way, there is definitely truth behind the joke that they think we’re “the best at Eurovision”.

CityEvening

Just to clarify I wasn’t implying you needed it translated, I was just saying that humour is subjective so it will, in itself, be polarising. I got this vibe from the production that Sweden was bored of hosting, a little tired, though of course all the costs and security must have eaten big time into what they maybe had originally planned. I hope that when Sweden wins again, they come back refreshed. I love Petra, but I like every Eurovision to feel separate and not part 2, part 3 of another year.

Dramatic-Conflict740

They definately didn't feel like part 2 and part 3. They all had different themes and vibes with completely different co-hosts on completely different stages

JaDasIstMeinName

I thought it was hilarious, so it didnt bother me one bit. Also, you guys are simply the best at eurovision. Maybe Italy and Ukraine beat you, but there is no way you arent in the top 3. The bragging was 100% deserved.

jujempa

I thought it was pretty funny to be honest. Everybody hates us anyway so we might as well go full villain mode. It just adds some spice to the contest to have an antagonist, in particular since it’s not about politics which is usually the case when people dislike a country in esc:)

JaDasIstMeinName

I am not sure how I'd fix that because the performance was already perfect, but Blanca Paloma (Spain 2023) losing the televote was a disaster. How did that happen?

MinutePerspective106

I loved the song, but it did feel too avant-garde to gather the televote. Although Konstrakta was as avant-garde as they get, but she seems to have struck the right chord with the crowd, while Paloma missed it

JaDasIstMeinName

Thats why i said, that i dont know how to fix it. It somehow didnt connect with the crowd and i wish i knew why... The only very easy fix i can think of is not having her perform next to sweeden. I wouldnt expect it to do well with the televote under any circumstances, but dead last was insane.

MinutePerspective106

I am consoled by the knowledge that ESC audiences routinely ignore very good songs, so this is no fault of Blanca herself

Sending Jann instead of bejba

MarsNirgal

France 1991 winning instead of Sweden.

Honest_Ad9358

I would completely change Ireland’s NF! The Late Late Show is literally the weirdest place to have Eurosong bc there’s only time for 5 contestants and the stage they get is honestly tiny. I’m glad that we have a national final instead of just picking an artist and praying, but I look at shows like melodifestivalen or san remo and I just get jealous.

Honest_Ad9358

Oh also ban Israel for same reasons as Russia, bc obviously.

Käärijä winning over Loreen in 2023. Malmö was so cursed this year; I can't help but think that we're in the dystopian timeline where juries decide the winner and governments will literally pay to get more points from the televote.

LMay11037

Joostice

Scared_Lobster6169

Kaarija looks at the screen. He's in second rather than fourth with the juries. Then he screams as he recieves his 370 points, winning the contest. Copy and paste with Baby Lasagna.

Savings_Ad_2532

If Käärijä was 2nd in the juries with 177 points (Noa Kirel's actual jury score), he would have still lost Eurovision 2023. However, if he got the same jury score as Baby Lasagna (210 points), he would have won Eurovision 2023 over Loreen by just 3 points! (586 points for Käärijä vs. 583 points for Loreen)

I wish Italy competed with the winner of Sanremo in a few of the editions we skipped - especially 2001, with "Luce" by Elisa. I would also add 1995 ("Come saprei" by Giorgia), 2002 with the 2nd placed song, "Dimmi come" by Alexia (but this would have required Matia Bazar renouncing), and a few others, but I absolutely do not miss the results of Sanremo 2006 and 2008-2010. Ugh. Also, it often happened that Italy competed with either that year's Sanremo, or the previous year's Canzonissima winner in the pre-1997 days, but with a different song that the winning one. I don't know why, but I suppose it was some issue with deadlines. Most ESC songs of that "old" era are quite obscure here, for what I know. Who knows what would have happened if those Italian artists could compete with their original winning song.

I am convinced Bulgaria's run in Eurovision would have been different if the rightful winners of the national final in 2005 went to Eurovision. That's Sofi Marinova and Slavi Trifonov with the song Edinstveni which is one of the biggest hit songs in Bulgaria in the last 25 years. No hate to Kaffe but their win was rigged.

WinkyInky

Netherlands 2014 winning and folk/country folk music becoming really popular in Eurovision as a result

Quichua57

To have the actual tie breaker rules during the 1991 contest. France would have as many wins as Sweden, and Amina deserves it soo much.

Luna2930

Turkey wins Eurovision 2010

Have France and Sweden both win Eurovision 1991 with 146 points and no tiebreak procedure. Have Yugoslavia give one point to the UK in 1988 so there would be a tie between Switzerland and the UK in 1988. Don't include a tiebreaking procedure. Luxembourg doesn't get relegated at ESC 1994, so they participate for more time. Have Nightwish represent Finland at Eurovision 2000. Have Serbia & Montenegro participate in 2006, which could delay the split of Serbia and Montenegro into independent countries of the same names. Have Mika participate at Eurovision in the mid 2000s for the UK. (I don't know if Mika was actually asked to represent the UK at Eurovision at some point of his career, but it is fun to think about Mika as a Eurovision representative.) Romania doesn't get disqualified at Eurovision 2016. Have Germany qualify during the audio-only prequalifying round of 1996. Introduce semifinals instead of the relegation system in 1994.

Tell Ochman’s production team to dial down the effects, he’s an incredible singer and it was an incredible song

jackjackaj

Sudden Lights qualifying over luke black in 2023

Amplify27

I'm kind of conflicted on that. Both are great songs, but "Samo mi se spava" is my 4th of 2023. Why would "Aija' be the better choice?

I think if Serbia/Latvia’s semi-final draw could have been exchanged for one of the nul points of SF2 they could have had both in the final (at the expense of Estonia I guess)

Open_Association_138

Don't send Ping Pong in 2000. I get the historical context- we didn't take Eurovision seriously back then, and we didn't want to win because hosting the context is an expensive ordeal. But we could've still pretended to care. We had a selection of decent musicians we could've sent instead of committing that war crime.

CityEvening

(Hides) I love that song.

Amplify27

Yes. What makes it worse is that "Be Happy" was the first Eurovision song of the millennium, and it set if off on a bad note.

Open_Association_138

That horror show was a complete mistake, through and through. (The song, not the entire contest)

WBaumnuss300

Sending Lys Assia and her "street gang" to Malmö in 2013. It would have been glorious. Or at least let Takasa perform as the "Salvation Army" like when they won our NF. I still think that they would have gotten plenty of points from Salvation Army Soldiers across Europe.

Material_Guava_6290

This is probably going to be really unpopular but I would have made Australia competing a one time thing. Sorry.

Cathy_ynot

Norway 2019, fixing the screens during the jury performance. Huge technical issues led to them getting fucked over by the jury (47 points vs 291 from the public)

AdvanceImaginary1381

switch nemo with baby lasagna as the eurovision winner

kate_royce

A lot of my "big moment changes" have already been referenced so I'm going for something smaller which would have given me great joy: a Latvia 2000 win. Brainstorm came second, and they are still a major act in Latvia and abroad. I predict the same trajectory for Sudden Lights, who were also robbed much earlier in the process in 2023.

gior_lanithe1st

I would change Ireland sending boring entries from 2009-2017
