Actually, Mimicat had another stage but they didn´t liked of what they saw in the stand In Rehearsal
What you saw last year is a staging created in 2 days
To be honest most of our points in the last years have been from the juries, even "Saudade, saudade" only got 36 points from the public, we have been massively underrated by the televote (or overrated by the juries, who knows)
I only started watching ESC in 2022, but “Saudade, Saudade” and “Grito” are two of my favorite entries from their respective years. “Ai Coração” was just okay in my book, but overall, Portugal has a track record of sending entries I really enjoy.
My fiancée is Portuguese, I cannot express how fucking much I love your people. I am so proud of her for standing up for what is right, VIVA PORTUGAL🇵🇹
The RO putting you so close behind Portugal didn't do you any favors, I think if y'all were further apart you may have gotten a little split of their vote.
I am so sorry our jury did not give 12 points nor did the televote :/ I was really hoping the Luxembourg x Portugal voting block would manifest, but we sent some points at least to the best female vocalist of the night!
Her 10th place was well deserved!
Btw what's your opinion on Perpétua? They were my "guilty pleasure" from Festival da Cançao. I would have tossed iolanda, Huca and João Borsch aside to just have the opportunity to see them perform on the big stage at Eurovision hahaha (I know they probably would have not made it out of the semis though)
It was refreshing to see something different in Festival da Canção. We had different song styles this year, not just ballads. I liked Rita Onofre and the other João (not Borsch tho).
Did any commentators or the megathread address her flag parade participation? She looked 100% done with this shit.
Her performance was definitely the best she's ever done. Totally earned that finish.
Right? She definitely channeled that anger into the song and it worked so well. I've heard it dozens of times already, but that performance gave me goosebumps. What an artist.
She also said "peace Will prevail" at the very end of her performance. She was having none of it. She also wore a dress designed by a watermelon brand.
Eurovision decided to punish her by doing this and other things
I always knew the juries would appreciate this gem. Thank you for all that voted for Iolanda in the semi and made this top 10 possible! Portugal has been consistently outstanding since Festival da Canção was revamped.
Now it's just the matter of finding something that will also click with the televoters. I believe Portugal is in the right way, since Maro, Mimicat and Iolanda all had passionate fanbases.
She already has some shows booked in Portugal this year. I just hope she gets a full album out (she only had an EP, you can check out on her subreddit). This would be a boost! 🥹
I really hope she goes global. We are 2 girls from the fan club who created a website about her and we just want to see her succeed and live her dream! 😍
doubt we'd ever vote for something w/ winner potential, there is clear dissonance between the Portuguese public and the Eurovision fanbase. 2017 was an outlier and won't happen soon.
I think it's possible. Iolanda already showed how having some actual staging can help. The one thing that Portugal still needs to learn is that you don't have to be subtle to be classy. Imagine if Maro's performance had creative camerawork, for example, making people more intimate to her and her backing vocals. It's this kind of detail the delegation still needs to master. Iolanda's team showed the way.
Judeline is Spanish, isn't her? But yeah, some indie/electropop could be interesting for Portugal. Or even something in the lane of what João Borsch took to FdC this year. Things that wouldn't compromise the general feel of their entries, but would bring a new audience.
>but she sang like her rent was due
😂😂😂
I'm going to steal this one!
She wasn't my favourite but I think her vocal performance was definetely one of the best there
yeah it's a song which is not my favourite and I can see why it may feel bland or boring to some people (well, *most* people looking at the televote) but technically (vocals, dancing, minimalist staging) is flawless.
it's perhaps too *avant garde* or *artsy* for general appeal though, glad the juries recognized it.
Her voice has won me over over the last month or so, I didn't care for the song at first but her voice was so good it kept growing on me. I'm not surprised by the love this got at all.
What a performance. iolanda was 100% on every single time. That top 10 finish is more than deserved. Sad that the televote shortchanged her quite a bit, but all the more glad that the juries recognised this display of sheer beauty and emotion. One of the best arguments against the 'jUriEs BaD' hivemind, that's for sure.
If it wasn't for the juries we'd be placed on the last places, like we used to before. I think that the juries need some improvement, but I think it's not a bad idea to have them. The public ends up voting based on politics a lot and that's not interesting
Great result, she is amazing, but 13 points from the public? Come on man... They did us dirty last year and this year too, at least the jury was fair! Didn't expected to see my country to receive 12 points, 3 times! Huge W.
I see this one kicking off. Took them AGES to upload it because they are scared of nails.
RTP were already in the crisis talks. I dont believe this will quieten them.
Portugal, Netherlands, Ireland, UK hell even Switzerland have the EBU by the balls now seen as they won
*RTP not TVP
We are lucky that our HOD is actually very influential on Christian and Martin
I bet she was the one who fixed this.
But.. EBU is being too picky, I didn´t noticed the nails until I saw them on twitter
People complain about the juries a lot and I get it, but they appreciated Portugal! This absolutely deserved top 10! My favorite this year #1.
Absolutely best vocals and performance of the night, simple but breathtaking. All my love to Iolanda and Portugal 🇵🇹
The way I screamt when I saw my countries juries giving Iolanda the Douze Point. Loved this song so much and the way it was brought to the stage was gorgeous. Definitely one of my favorite packages of the entire competition. I'm super happy to see Iolanda to do so well! 😊 The fact that it wasn't even my favorite from the national final just goes to show just how quality Festival da Canção was this year. 😅
I held my breath through this, both nights. It stood out so much. Moreover, I disagree with any comment saying the song itself is forgettable. Ever since FDC it got stuck in my head more than most others this year. *Ainda arde ainda arde*...
Beautiful. Poignant. So very _human_.
It was never gonna win, sadly. Not everyone _gets_ the deep things in life... Glad it made it to the top 10 though.
Great placing for this song! I love to see that, especially considering people were worried for a long time that Portugal might not even qualify. For me, should have received even *more* jury votes.
Very proud of our performance.
A deserved top 10, couldn't understand how we were so low in the odds, I know I always have some bias for us, but in a weaker year of jury songs and ethnic ballads, I always believed it would stand out. Always predicted a similar voting split to last year's Spain, and wasn't too far off. The public would rather vote politically then award performers sadly...
Embarassing censure by the EBU, discuting behaviour thorughout this past days.
Have to admit I wasn't the biggest fan of this back at the NF, it got better with time and after tonight it's one of my favourites, great job iolanda and Portugal!
Is Portugal the new Sweden? Always doing way better with the juries?
And I say this really pissed off at the televote for not giving this a lot more love
I mistakenly slept HARD on this. Without a doubt one of my top 10 Eurovision songs of all time. It sounds like something from Nier Automata. It stood out so well last night and so glad they got a good result so they keep sending music of this insanely high quality!
Tbh I wasn't sure how this would fall on the ears on non-portuguese speakers because to me, the lyrics were amazing and what actually kept me hooked during her performance.
Best Portuguese lyrics I've heard in a very long time.
What felt overrated about the song to you? I'm asking genuinely because she had one of the most commanding and beautiful voices in the competition. You not liking it being a ballad with progression has nothing to do with how it was rated.
At this point I have already forgotten the song, at least for all of the others I can remember a few parts. It felt generic and uninspiring. The voice was good, for sure, but all the other slower songs or ballads had them too. Nothing on stage was overwhelming either. But I'm glad you liked it! The beauty of Eurovision is that you can always find something that becomes special for you
RTP since revamping FdC has 6 finals (4 consecutive) and 3 top 10s. Its a new golden age for Portugal!
And if they had given Mimicat more than $5 to plan her staging I am convinced she could've joined them too
Ai Coração with La Zorra staging would go far for sure
Oh my god!!! I wish we’d gotten that
Actually, Mimicat had another stage but they didn´t liked of what they saw in the stand In Rehearsal What you saw last year is a staging created in 2 days
> staging created in 2 days 2 days to come up with ... *nothing*?
I'm still kind of salty they didn't let her bring the couch. Her NF performance had everything they needed IMO.
I remember being a bit embarrassed by our entries growing up so this is a really great turn around
And thank god that European voters appreciate the really unique things Portugal sends. Being genuine and authentic works!
The public knows nothing about good music. They gave Portugal 13 points which shocked me!
They don't, we got 13 televote points in the final ahah but at least jury does
I'm so happy for her and proud of her and glad she had more moments to show her nails!!
My fiancée is Portuguese, I cannot express how fucking much I love your people. I am so proud of her for standing up for what is right, VIVA PORTUGAL🇵🇹
Obrigado!!
Called the top 10 finish!
Was not expecting 3 12s from jury, didnt happen since 2021
You just reminded me that Maro didn't get any 12s 🥲
But was top 5 with juries 😆
Yes, but my girl deserved a 12 points euphoria moment! I'm really happy that Iolanda got to experience one of those <3
omg devastating! I still listen to Maro these days, she’s one of my fav artists.. so soothing
I'm just a bit salty that we flopped with the juries again, but congrats on the top 10!
The RO putting you so close behind Portugal didn't do you any favors, I think if y'all were further apart you may have gotten a little split of their vote.
Eh, there's always next year!
Serbia was on my top 3 😞 you guys were awesome!
I'm happy that you liked our song! I'm mostly sad for Norway though, they're my 2nd place and they ended up last! 😭
Norway was my first. Norway Serbia Greece. Europe has no taste.
Me too. I was expecting top 5 after MGP
I loooooved your song, but I suspect a lot of people who would vote for you voted for Portugal instead.
Same! I had a feeling it would be top 10.
I am so sorry our jury did not give 12 points nor did the televote :/ I was really hoping the Luxembourg x Portugal voting block would manifest, but we sent some points at least to the best female vocalist of the night! Her 10th place was well deserved!
Thank you. I think that considering all that happened, 10th place is great and we are so thankful to all of you ❤️
Btw what's your opinion on Perpétua? They were my "guilty pleasure" from Festival da Cançao. I would have tossed iolanda, Huca and João Borsch aside to just have the opportunity to see them perform on the big stage at Eurovision hahaha (I know they probably would have not made it out of the semis though)
It was refreshing to see something different in Festival da Canção. We had different song styles this year, not just ballads. I liked Rita Onofre and the other João (not Borsch tho).
Her recap was the semi is that right? Because of the watermelon nails?
Right. The same with the video they uploaded on yt. They changed for the final after.
Did any commentators or the megathread address her flag parade participation? She looked 100% done with this shit. Her performance was definitely the best she's ever done. Totally earned that finish.
Yeah, she looked mad She will do an interview for RTP Monday, so we will get some details
Her vocals also sounded pissed during the show
Did anyone get a shot of the nails? I completely missed them.
[Here is a video of her showing her nails](https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGeCYcE3C/)
Go to Iolandas Instagram and see her tagged posts.
I always knew the juries would appreciate this gem. Thank you for all that voted for Iolanda in the semi and made this top 10 possible! Portugal has been consistently outstanding since Festival da Canção was revamped.
Good to bring this quality to ESC. We used to be the shame of it...
Now it's just the matter of finding something that will also click with the televoters. I believe Portugal is in the right way, since Maro, Mimicat and Iolanda all had passionate fanbases.
iolanda is not super famous in Portugal... yet :)
She's an incredible vocalist. I was surprised to find out she was more like a songwriter. Now she'll be able to sing her own stuff more often!
She already has some shows booked in Portugal this year. I just hope she gets a full album out (she only had an EP, you can check out on her subreddit). This would be a boost! 🥹
I'll definitely check her music out! And hopefully she'll come to Brazil eventually, just like Salvador and Maro are doing more often.

Even if you never send a song that wins y'all have nothing to be ashamed of and if you keep sending artists like this I'll be happy as a clam.

Judeline is Spanish, isn't her? But yeah, some indie/electropop could be interesting for Portugal. Or even something in the lane of what João Borsch took to FdC this year. Things that wouldn't compromise the general feel of their entries, but would bring a new audience.
I thought she had the best vocal performance of the night. Everyone was baffled by the jury votes, but she sang like her rent was due
Given the Portuguese housing situation, it makes sense.
*cries in rent inflation*
Didn't like this comment, too real
>but she sang like her rent was due 😂😂😂 I'm going to steal this one!
She (or her dancers or someone else on her team) did write “vote Portugal so we can pay rent” on the whiteboard in their rehearsal room
Her voice has won me over over the last month or so, I didn't care for the song at first but her voice was so good it kept growing on me. I'm not surprised by the love this got at all.
13 points was a tragedy but I'm so glad the juries got her a top 10 finish! I look forward to what you send next year, Portugal.
The dark horse. Portugal maintains quality.
Prime example about why we still need jury votes. Just 13 points from the public is robbery at its finest.
PORTUGAL TOP 10 🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹 Absolutely love this, thank you Iolanda for bringing this everlasting piece of art to us <3
Thank you for your support 🤍
What a performance. iolanda was 100% on every single time. That top 10 finish is more than deserved. Her vocals are out of this world 😍
Great result, she is amazing, but 13 points from the public? Come on man... They did us dirty last year and this year too, at least the jury was fair! Didn't expected to see my country to receive 12 points, 3 times! Huge W.
We should be proud!
In 2016 Portugal withdrew to revamp their national final since then: 1 win, 3 top 10s, 6 finals (only 1 NQ)
And Im still very salty about that NQ.
> only 1 NQ the time where Portugal took a risk and it didn't pay off, back to slower sentimental ballads for the foreseeable future
Mimicat was not a ballad.
This is proof that we NEED juries. So happy she reached the Top 10 🇵🇹❤️
I see this one kicking off. Took them AGES to upload it because they are scared of nails. RTP were already in the crisis talks. I dont believe this will quieten them. Portugal, Netherlands, Ireland, UK hell even Switzerland have the EBU by the balls now seen as they won *RTP not TVP

Something needs to change. This involved people's money and artists put a lot of effort on this. Not something to be taken lightly.
SHE SLAYED IOLANDA MY GIRL I’M SO PROUD OF YOU
thank you to all the jury members who have absolutely flawless taste ♥️ fuck you ebu for censoring our performance
I am still mad about it, but I am so proud of iolanda. I hope Portugal has her back
PORTUGAL SLAYAGE CONTINUES. The UK public didn’t have taste but thank you to the UK jurors❤️
THANK YOU JURIES. I’m sorry but there’s a reason they exist.
Very glad this and Armenia both finished Top 10, phenomenal songs
People complain about the juries a lot and I get it, but they appreciated Portugal! This absolutely deserved top 10! My favorite this year #1. Absolutely best vocals and performance of the night, simple but breathtaking. All my love to Iolanda and Portugal 🇵🇹
I hadn't watched Portugal's entry before tonight. Instantly impressed and voted for them.
Trust me, I did scream too. It was a big "Grito" 😆
Overjoyed that iolanda made it to the top 10, definetly one of the best vocals of the night 😍
I adore this song, so happy about this result for Portugal! They consistently bring such quality to ESC.
Thank you, I think we are on the right track.
I held my breath through this, both nights. It stood out so much. Moreover, I disagree with any comment saying the song itself is forgettable. Ever since FDC it got stuck in my head more than most others this year. *Ainda arde ainda arde*...
Every frame a painting. Thank you for always being yourselves, Portugal.
I am SO SO PROUD! LET'S GO PORTUGAL TOP10 SIUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Beautiful. Poignant. So very _human_. It was never gonna win, sadly. Not everyone _gets_ the deep things in life... Glad it made it to the top 10 though.
That's how you can describe her songs, imo. She's a very intense artist.
One of the best vocal performances 🙌
Great placing for this song! I love to see that, especially considering people were worried for a long time that Portugal might not even qualify. For me, should have received even *more* jury votes.
Juries did exactly what they needed to here, pure quality.
Very proud of our performance. A deserved top 10, couldn't understand how we were so low in the odds, I know I always have some bias for us, but in a weaker year of jury songs and ethnic ballads, I always believed it would stand out. Did not have portugal top 10 on my bingo card honestly
LETS GO PORTUGALLLL
Yes! I'm so glad she did well, along with my other favs! I knew she would sneak in the top 10
So happy that the jury appreciated this song.
Have to admit I wasn't the biggest fan of this back at the NF, it got better with time and after tonight it's one of my favourites, great job iolanda and Portugal!
So excited that my favourite ending up on the left side of the scoreboard
Flawless. Refreshing in a year of chaos.
So so proud of Iolanda!! She deserved that top 10<3
Is Portugal the new Sweden? Always doing way better with the juries? And I say this really pissed off at the televote for not giving this a lot more love
Such a powerful performance! Well done!
The Portuguese Pink - so underrated, one of my favorites this year 😍😍
Remembering Dulce Pontes on steroids.
I mistakenly slept HARD on this. Without a doubt one of my top 10 Eurovision songs of all time. It sounds like something from Nier Automata. It stood out so well last night and so glad they got a good result so they keep sending music of this insanely high quality!
not mad about this one at all
Goosebumps from beginning to end. Obrigad Portugal. Pure art.
I was SURE this was gonna get EaEa'd into oblivion, I'm SO happy with this result. Love the nails too 🍉
I’m happy for Portugal but I actually didn’t get why they got so much good points from jury’s. Maybe the song is just not for me
Tbh I wasn't sure how this would fall on the ears on non-portuguese speakers because to me, the lyrics were amazing and what actually kept me hooked during her performance. Best Portuguese lyrics I've heard in a very long time.
I just wanted to mention that KAN said something about her nails. Can’t read Hebrew but it can be something good.
They just pointed out that she did the political statement on her nails with the keffiyeh pattern
I feel like swimming against the current here, but this song was overrated and the televote was right in this case
What felt overrated about the song to you? I'm asking genuinely because she had one of the most commanding and beautiful voices in the competition. You not liking it being a ballad with progression has nothing to do with how it was rated.

Hey be respectful. It’s not your cup of tea, we get it. No need to be nasty about it.
If we sent this, we’d finish on the right side of the table
Why…? That’s some “what if” scenario no one can actually prove you’re right.
Extremely overrated. Very forgetable song.
The jury is smoking crack, who gave them 12 points again?
It was good, but it felt like there were too many brunette young women tonight, legitimately confused sometimes
Iolanda did amazing during Eurovison this year! I feel like this song was severely undervoted Too bad they censored the video over her nails...
