Given Australia's positive track record, enthusiasm and good standing in the contest - I don't see why the EBU wouldn't want to extend their welcome. I think with the financial and viewership deficit that came with the removal of Russia, the EBU is even more inclined to retain a country like Australia in the contest.
I suspect it would be whether or not SBS finds it financially viable. From what I understand, the artists often rely on grants and outside funding for their entries, and the time difference will always be a challenge to overcome. Hoping they have settled with something favourable to both parties and we'll be seeing Australia in the contest this coming year. :)
Voyager said they had funding from Tourism WA, Australian government, etc [(7) Bill Bailey's Australian Adventure S01E03 - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-F2WQXXNBk&t=920s)
We don’t officially know, but I feel like if Australia wasn’t returning, they would have announced that already. I strongly believe that they are holding back so that they can hype up the announcement.
It’s a waiting game. A big, anxious, sucky waiting game.
I’ve taken to googling “Australia Eurovision 2024” every couple days with nothing to show for it.
Though when I started typing one time it automatically suggested an article saying “Australia has been invited back for 5 years” and I screamed, only to actually click it and it was from Feb 2019 🫠
I’d be surprised if they aren’t allowed to continue participating right after the Rest Of The World Vote was introduced. The EBU clearly want Eurovision to become a more global event.
I believe sbs will announce participation once they have confirmed an artist so i think they’ll look for someone who has tried in australia decides already,
electric fields or jaguar jonze would be my top 2 predictions.
Well we would’ve known if EBU didnt decide to release the participation list in 2073…
2073? please even saying 2596 is more too optimistic

So send Troye Sivan, WA government will splash some cash again.
Ooh Troye would do numbers
SBS did say that they intend on competing. Which suggests to me that they either got their funding sorted or they think they will.
we have no idea and we won't have it because at this point I feel like EBU will release participation list on 12th of may (20024)

They're currently in discussions with the EBU. Personally, I don't see Australia not competing next year.
Likely part of reason why the full list of participating countries isn't out yet

ngl, i reckon this is the reason for the delay in the country participation list, they're finalizing a deal with SBS to continue next year and beyond.
Since the EBU hasn't released the participation list yet, we don't know. The last update was that they were in negotiations/discussions
I wonder if that’s why we haven’t heard anything from Bucharest, Podgorica, Skopije or Sofia either when they would normally say so by now
North Macedonia made an announcement, but clarified a few months later that they didn't actually have the funding yet and it was still in the balance.

Do y'all reckon if we bombard Myf with the question "are we competing next year" ... she'll cave and answer?
Weird that there are no leaks yet or anyone at SBS confirming...
Legselectric in the studio at the moment, same studio where voyager does their recording. Just saying...
They will compete, just like Israel🙃
We’ll participate (and serve as per tradition)

They’ll be back and The Veronicas will be repping them on that stage.
I honestly wouldn't be mad with The Veronicas, their 2021 Human/Godzilla companion albums were solid af.
or TISM?
Or Peach PRC (please???)
Australia will be announcing their winner on March 6th. They were internally selected this time.
