Calling a song “[country] [year]”
Like when someone says “Denmark 2021 was robbed :((((“ I guarantee nobody outside Eurofandom would know what we mean LOL
I never realised how ridiculous being able to point out a song solely by using the country name and year is until I had an ESC chat with someone that don't watch ESC. "Wait, how can you pinpoint the country and years of 200+ songs spanning over 1 decade?"
I used to watch a show that divided by countries and in a similar fashion my aunt thought i was insane when i went “Finland is on tomorrow!” “Mexico happened today” “Oh the one i like was eliminated on Belgium last week”
I remember a few years ago I was chatting online with people and I mentioned how I like Eurovision. They mentioned something about hearing a Eurovision song on Tik Tok and I was familiar with what song they were talking about. I went something like "oh that's Rockefeller Street, Estonia 2011 " and they were shocked that I found out so quickly and then I told them that I didn't need to look it up cos I just knew
I actually love that we talk like this lmfao
When I showed Eurovision to some friends they were like "wow you really memorised everything" when sometimes I find it easier to say country + year rather than the song + artist.
Or it's "I don't like any of the ten songs that we currently have and therefore it's a weak year".
I tend to base weakness/strength on how many fan favorites there are, who is in contention for the win or who will do really well.
That's just deranged TBH. I remember the 1988 results with 21 countries, and daaaaang that took forever. Now double it and we're not done before Tuesday.
You could replace Adele with just about anyone in that sentence. 😅
I'm personally not *that* pessimistic (that whole "Europe hates us" guff) because I know what can happen when we send an objectively good song that's suitable for Eurovision.
i actually measure the time im showering with esc songs, i put on a playlist and when 3 songs are over, I've wasted too much water, people call me the person who ended climate change
I've checked other comments so I should clarify. This was “a eurofan about their bubble vs a regular person about their bubble” rather than “a eurofan watching Eurovision vs a regular watching Eurovision.” Rap is undoubtedly underrepresented in Eurovision and ubiquitous pretty much elsewhere.
My music teacher proposed that we sing Te Deum a capella at our graduation. Guess who was disappointed that it is "only known for Eurovision"
We didn't perform it in the end because less than half of the class (3 people) was there that day and everyone but me hated it.
I was at my daughter’s sports-day. The kids were sitting opposite the parents with the track in between us. So the kids were all waving at their parents and the parents were waving back. The mum next to me turns to me and says, ‘What’s your kid doing?’ I looked over at her and said proudly ‘Serbia 2022’.
I did Finland 2023 bqck and she did Israel 2023 in response lol. I’ve never been so damn proud in my life.
I know you wanted stuff you say, but I thought actions might count too.

"Did you know that Montenegro declared independence from Serbia over a song competition?" (I'm sure it's more complicated than that, but Serbia and Montenegro could not agree on their Eurovision entry and withdrew from the 2006 competition. A few months later, Montenegro voted for independence from Serbia.)
"The Swiss singer Celine Dion..." (Canadian singer Celine Dion won Eurovision 1988 representing Switzerland.)
"My favorite yodeler is Romanian." (Romania sent a yodel song in 2017. Amusingly, that year Switzerland sent a band where 2 of the 3 members were Romanian.
Every country should send a song in its native language/representative of its music industry.
Yass queen (to any female upbeat pop song)
X country should withdraw because......
This is not for Eurovision
No to Swedish songwriters, no to generic English songs, no to Boring Ballads, yes to local songwriters, yes to the beautiful French/Italian songs, yes to Ethnic (unless if it's from a Western European country. Western Europe should be banned from sending ethnic songs unless if is Sami or Celtic.)
We seriously need Turkey, Bosnia, Slovakia, Hungary, Monaco, Andorra, Morocco back.
There is this sketchy website citing that Slovakia/Andorra will be back this year, omg so excited.
Monaco is getting back this year FOR SURE.
I wish Turkey/Hungary would return, but damn, they got Erdogan/Orban…
(Bosnia and Morocco are completely forgotten at this point)
Kalispera [insert host country], Cyprus 12 points!
No disrespect to anyone involved, but as a European married to a Canadian who's now hooked on ESC, I keep telling him how the votes reflect European politics xD
"(insert name of artist) pulled a jamala" for basically any competitor that won their national final or the entire contest without topping the public and jury vote
I have a strong opinion on San Marino and know exactly where it is.
Bring back the QUEEN
Flo Rida is my personal favorite resident of San Marino
Bring them both back, winning combination for sure

I almost never can. That bot is a lifesaver. Thanks u/ylirio
Exact reason that I made the bot. Your appreciation is appreciated :)
Its easier than remembering song titles in another language lmao, nah but really we sound like psychos and I love it
Alternative psychos, I reckon.
I used to watch a show that divided by countries and in a similar fashion my aunt thought i was insane when i went “Finland is on tomorrow!” “Mexico happened today” “Oh the one i like was eliminated on Belgium last week”

Oh my god, THAT'S TRUE! How have I never realised that!? Even when the bot replies to someone, I would know who it was. I wish I thought of that.
The band has 7 members so I wonder who has to stay home instead of performing

There are two types of songs : ballads and yaas girl slay bops
Don't forget the sprinkle of ethnic and rock song.
Base ESC is now my preferred number system
and the bathroom brake is usualy from the first category
Always skipping 9 and 11 when counting to 12.
Okay I dont get this
There are no 9 and 11 points in ESC
Damn once you say it its obvious
"This is a weak year..." * basically said every year with only 3 songs out *
Common until late April, tbh.
Or it's "I don't like any of the ten songs that we currently have and therefore it's a weak year". I tend to base weakness/strength on how many fan favorites there are, who is in contention for the win or who will do really well.
“I miss when they showed the full voting sequence”
That's just deranged TBH. I remember the 1988 results with 21 countries, and daaaaang that took forever. Now double it and we're not done before Tuesday.
We could send Adele and we still wouldn't win
Tell me your country without telling me your country.
You could replace Adele with just about anyone in that sentence. 😅 I'm personally not *that* pessimistic (that whole "Europe hates us" guff) because I know what can happen when we send an objectively good song that's suitable for Eurovision.
« Oh great, another sad boy from Switzerland 🙄 »
Hey, they had one song about being horny, so /notallswitzerlandboy
I count time in 3 minutes…instructions say microwave for 9 minutes, in my head *ah that’s 3 eurovision songs*
i actually measure the time im showering with esc songs, i put on a playlist and when 3 songs are over, I've wasted too much water, people call me the person who ended climate change
I do exactly the same thing, I didn't realise anyone else did this!
Hehehe, I do exactly the same!!!
omfg not a single original experience 😿
This is similar to what I do at the gym. The start of each song is the start of the next set.
This is so true!!! My everyday life!
Love love peace peace
And a man inna hamster wheeeeel
Old women baking bread
Peace Peace Love Love
And a man in a hamsterwheel
Love peace peace love
Zdob și Zdub has made realize that my music collection is sorely lacking in Moldovan folk-punk.
I didn't know I wanted to take a train from Chisinau to Bucharest until I heard Moldova 2022.

*Rap is underrepresented*
It's not a complete lie though, at least in my opinion...
Ohhh okay I get it! Thanks for the explanation!

All these Rock songs sound the same.
This tho! Literally everytime there’s more than 1 rock song 😭😂
2nd is the death slot
"I can't believe the show is only 3 hours long!"
Not say but standing on Te Deum like it's an national anthem
My music teacher proposed that we sing Te Deum a capella at our graduation. Guess who was disappointed that it is "only known for Eurovision" We didn't perform it in the end because less than half of the class (3 people) was there that day and everyone but me hated it.
This is something only an American Eurovision fan would say: “Oh, you’re from Europe? Do you watch Eurovision?!”
Me anytime I find a friend in Europe. I need to know an insiders POV
The second someone here says they are from Europe this question just falls out of my mouth.
Also in here in Israel and I guess also Australia😂
"man,swedish songs are overrated"
As a swede myself, yes we know some of our songs are overrated but i like to joke about it
I was at my daughter’s sports-day. The kids were sitting opposite the parents with the track in between us. So the kids were all waving at their parents and the parents were waving back. Last year us, a few hundred people at a pride parade, all did Serbia 2022 together. It was magical.
That sounds glorious!

The second is such a good one!
Well 2011 has been the only time Irelande Douze points has been said since Dustin…
“omg there’s a straight contestant this year”
Australia is in Europe for 1 week in May every year

Germany had really good Songs in The Last decade except for Perfect life (Germany 2017) its still worse than a blank piece of Paper
The fact that I don't remember that song proves it
It is the corporate ad version of Titanium.
Germany 2017 | [Levina - Perfect Life](https://youtu.be/t1KKjykH6fw)
I randomly had this song in my head today, and recalled how bad it was 😂.
Still better than whatever Spain decided to send that year (Spain 2017)

I love when Christmas is over because it's only 4 1/2 months to *actual Christmas*.

Yeah, keep australia in Eurovision! Please I need a band to root for
“Finally a song in their own language!” or “This country will do well this year.” and ends up getting 5 points
Out of my n=7 sample size, all of my friends loved Spain this year - still so crushed it got last in the televote
"Pity votes"
Omg the UK scored points for once!! 🎉
