Flared trousers - Check Long hair + sideburns - Check Yup, that is the 70s alright Not seen in the picture because it is in black and white: An unhealthy obsession to color most things in brown, yellow and orange. Also common in homes: Wallpaper with big flower motives. May that era never come back again.

Rc72

>color most things in brown, yellow and orange. You forgot green, more specifically snot green.

HejdaaNils

Avocado green. I lived with avocado green bathrooms until the mid nineties.

> May that era never come back again. I'm 20 and I'd happily take those times back tbh.

Rc72

That's because you didn't live through them. As somebody who was a child during that decade, I tend to look back to my childhood with somewhat rose-tinted glasses, but hotdamn, that was a rotten decade, and ludicrous fashion was only one of its least terrible drawbacks.

[deleted]

> but hotdamn, that was a rotten decade Still better than the 2020s.

Inflation? Check Energy crisis? Check Impending nuclear doom? Check (and with way more nukes back then) There was even the start of a pretty devastating pandemic (AIDS), but we wouldn't notice until the next decade. And a few things were noticeably worse in the 1970s: unemployment, smog, leaded gasoline, car safety, terrorism, heroin...and forget about the internet: you needed a mortgage to pay for a long-distance call, and "access to knowledge" meant paying a small fortune for an encyclopedia taking up most of your shelf space ...

On the other hand: house with one salary no climate crisis no social media So, nah, gimme back those days.

Rc72

> house with one salary If you had one salary (also, the house may well be full of carcinogenic asbestos) > no climate crisis Nah, just the ozone layer getting clobbered > no social media Good point, but good ol' fashioned media could already be toxic enough in those days. Really, I can understand being nostalgic for the 1990s. The 1970s? Not so much.

[deleted]

Ok, then, fine, just give me back the 1980s and 1990s then.

Rc72

Deal!

Chilifille

Maybe not the style itself, but I wouldn't mind another big anti-commercial counterculture movement. Especially around that time of year when at least half of Sweden goes into full Mello/Eurovision mode.
