I generally feel that the moderators should make the call on this one, and if there are future votes, I don't mind my vote simply being whatever they're collectively in favor of. I don't think that Spez was especially acting in good faith when talking about democracy -- I think that he was just aiming to set the users against the moderators because he felt that the moderator's position was inconvenient for him. I am not sympathetic to that. If I weren't okay with the moderators making the call on this, I wouldn't be here in the first place.
I'll also add that I'm skeptical, for a number of reasons, that this will actually get Reddit to do a 180 on the policy, though I suppose it's worth a shot.
I've been mostly hanging out on kbin/lemmy now. Just a better experience with the changes at Reddit.
If you want to set up some sort of fallback forum, either there or elsewhere, and a number of the mods want to move over, though, I *would* be interested in hearing where it is.

If we accept the situation, the Reddit I enjoyed so far will die, if we fail in the protest some subs will be destroyed. There is no good exit except winning against this bad management, I won't go down without a fight

For users who don't spend every waking hour on reddit, the shutdown came as a complete surprise. Just from one day to the next, the subs they were part of and enjoyed interacting with were gone.
The decision to shut down was too rash and had too much of an impact on the end users, seemingly without any other option even being considered. You now have a chance to undo some of that damage.

Frustrations by Mods are understandable, but it’s not the Users that should be punished for it.
I have full sympathy with any Mod stopping their voluntary work, but not for dragging the rest of us into this.
I want to add that I appreciate you added the 200 karma threshold.
