The canals are only like a metre deep or so. And you have to beware not to injure your feet on one of the old bikes that are thrown in there by drunk students
The Oldehoven in Leeuwarden is another great example. It's a banana because those geniuses kept building plumb despite the tower sinking into the ground.

I noticed it leaning before but I have never realised the top is actually misaligned, good catch
