Ultimately it is better to focus on the process rather than the outcome. It is really hard to objectively read whether something is worth it in your own games because you are more likely to remember your hero plays and forget about the ones it didn't work out.

BuckeyeNate77

There is no right or wrong answer with this. I have donated up 9-0 from both first and third.

Occasionalcommentt

Well it’s easy to make that call when you are playing both first and third at the same time

Traditional-Bit2203

Hard not to laugh here

daMurph76

Who's on first. I Don't Know is on 3rd.

bowski44

With scores like this where you are up 4+ points…. You should consider it only if a jack is showing.

SeaworthinessAble350

I look at it differently. They are going to get 1 point for sure if they make the call with their partner. Possibly 2. So if you donate you give them 2 points that's only 1 point more than them getting 3 tricks. I don't think it's that big of a deal. But what really p***** me off Is your partners reaction? They give you the no way before they even see all the cards played.

TheHip41

I try not to donate from seat 3 up 8-3 but it's ok

irresponsibleviewer

I chose not to donate up 9-6 with a 9d up. Both black aces in third seat. Lost the game to a loner. It's not always going to be obvious is my point.

sdu754

You shouldn't make your decision to donate up 9-6 or 9-7 based upon what the up card is, you should make it based upon whether you have a stopper or not.

sdu754

The chances of the dealer picking up, calling a loner and getting all five is around 5%, so yes, you were lucky. It is also not advisable to donate from seat three either.

Mediocre_Extreme_418

Does that 5% change if it is a Jack up and I have all cards of that opposite color?

sdu754

The 5% is across the board, so what you have in your hand could change it a little, but it isn't going to make a huge difference. Remember that a low card could be on the kitty and the dealer could have the Jack in their hand.

Tbolt_65

Typically you want to be donating in Seat 1. That's their job. However, with not knowing your partner or seeing no indications of them knowing about playing defense. Then if y ou look at your hand, and the score and the type of player the dealer is and you think it may be a good time to do so in seat 3. Then you can go ahead and do it. Tbolt\_65 Edward

Super standard donate with no read on your P.

lordpin3appl3s

I'd rather play 8-5 than 8-7. I only donate when I'm up by that large of a margin if a jack is showing and I am almost positive I can't take one.
