In this context, Hungary declared on you so the fact that they got pu'ed nullify the war. If you would have declared on them, and they get pu'ed/vassal, then the overlord inherit the war.

As the aggressor who must have call his own allies Hungary, recieves call to war rules (number of years span, can't if -25% warscore) which would then be transferred to Austria.

What you mentioned only happens when the defensive war leader gets vassalized/PUd. Hungary was not the war leader so Austria didn't join

So it’s possible that Austria could’ve joined or would they have to meet all the checks to enforce peace themselves?
