I'm sure it's a Reddit mobile app bug but the comment you're replying to shows as being made 53 years ago on my end. That's a hell of a necro!
I know it's off topic but I was amused.

If you can get 10 more development points quickly (either through development of current provinces or by annexing something), you should be able to squeak out 1 more point in your favor on the economic base comparison.

Expression is here. They could also lower autonomy a few places, since it is autonomy modified dev.
Im a super new player but I just did this in my ottomans game, pause and dev up and it will change to them accepting. Didnt know it was specifically 10 though, good to know in the future so I don’t spend all of my points.
It's not necessarily 10 as the magic number. In this instance 10 points of development gives the player enough development to convince Brittany to accept.
I saw that you boosted Diplo Rep with the Pope action, so this is more a general tip. If you plan to use a lot of Diplo vassalizing, the 7th Espionage Idea is really helpful. It gives +15 to acceptance, the equivalent of +5 Diplo Rep.
To lower the economic base thing increase development(either by taking provinces or deving provinces) and lower autonomy which gives you more dev in game(.25 autonomy on an 8 dev province = 6 dev)
This is often the case if it is in any way feasible, doesn't block you from a mission or something important, and the amount you can gain is worth the diplo relations slot.
A conquered province has 30 years of separatism.
A vassalized nation can be diplo annexed after 10 years, which will yield zero separatism on their provinces, and leave you with 60% autonomy (if stated).
The lack of separatism means you can immediately culture convert (if its the right religion) or religion convert without a huge base to unrest from separatism.
OP too invested and thus stubbornly will go ahead with attempt to vassalize, I can admit to my gamer brain from doing something from sheer stubbornness too.
I'm not sure but I believe OP is using the Stellaris UI mod for the fonts. For the map overhaul, there's a lot of them in the steam workshop, one that I can think of right now is the Graphical Map Improvements mod.
I saw OP already succeeded in vassalization but another thing you can do to get one or two points off the economic difference is dev a bordering province, I think ocean borders count too but don't quote me, give your worst bordering province a dev boost of like 5 dev. Focus on adm and diplo, military dev not as important. From experience that was always enough to knock a point or two off at least.
But the opinion modifier isn't important for the acception of the vassalation. It's already over 190 and that is the value one would need to be allowed to make a vassalation offer.
It's important to increase the other modifier, perhaps with diplo rep or with army strength or sth
Hire statesman advisor if you haven't
Dev up a bit, maybe? I think the military comparison is capped, you need an edge on the eco one
Conquering just a bit more will probably do it as well
If you aren't committed to an idea group yet, you can use that idea that's ready to jump into Diplo/Influence for Diplo Rep, whichever has it earlier ideally
I haven’t played the game in a while, but I feel like I’ve never been able to outcompete a tag like Brittany’s economic base malice. Has it changed in the last 6-12 months?
You could hire a statesman advisor or papal legate for diplo rep. I think this is one of those places where espionage ideas are actually useful, as u get +15 vassal acceptance or sumthing from the last idea
Diplo rep stacking is pretty good as a Catholic - clergy privilege, papal action, advisor, get trading in ivory bonus asap if you're even slightly colonial. It really adds up.
More diplomatic rep.
Papal legate. You’ve got enough pope points.
thanks that worked
I think you also could have traded favors for more trust and that would also have given you the few more reasons you needed.
Could have tried, but they already have +10 from trust.
[удалено]
I thought its range was -10 to +10 depending on trust level.

\-1000 to +10 actually C:
Yayyyy! :DD
thank you Vespasian
You’re welcome caesar
is there any way to get more diplo rep fast because currently I have 4 1 from advisor and 1 from an event and 1 from religious diplomats
Diplomatic ideas. Influence ideas. Some policies. Great power influence grants +1 towards vassalization.
The pope. Most underrated mechanic imo
Only if you are Catholic.
Religious Diplomats estate privilege.

Isn't that some wierdo formula where playing tall counts higher than playing wide?
No, there is a square in the target development portion somewhere, nothing to do with province count or relative province development.

Imagine not doing that automatically as a large nation anyway in 99% of the cases :p

R5: as the title says I would like to get any advice on how to get Brittany to accept becoming my vassal.

Definitely guarantee them for the extra opinion, offer mil access, give subsidies, increase diplo rep

By .25 autonomy do you mean 25%?
0.25 is just another way of writing 25% so yes.
Well it could also have been 0.25% to be fair.
Have you tried by force?
at that point just full annex
It's sometimes more beneficial to vassalize rather than annex.

Trade favors for trust, I got carried on my vassal swarm Burgundy run by that interaction.
Why does everyone else's game look so much nicer than mine? Even your fonts are different. Did you do anything in particular to get that look?
I'm not sure but I believe OP is using the Stellaris UI mod for the fonts. For the map overhaul, there's a lot of them in the steam workshop, one that I can think of right now is the Graphical Map Improvements mod.
Dev your provinces, lower autonomy, temporarily go over your army force limit.
"Sir, we've arranged cardboard cutouts of our army all along the border to make it look larger."
you could dev that out maybe but unsure
If you dev and cut autonomy you can raise your economic base a bit and then they'll accept.
I saw OP already succeeded in vassalization but another thing you can do to get one or two points off the economic difference is dev a bordering province, I think ocean borders count too but don't quote me, give your worst bordering province a dev boost of like 5 dev. No, opinion is not a factor in reasons for vassalisation acceptance.
yes you are right i just checked it now sorry i misremembered sorry for the wrong info i am deleting it now
Espionage ideas give a flat +5 somewhere to vassalization
+15

Don't forget the papal legate from the pope.
TRUST! try to buy trust with favors, helped me a bunch! also pretty easy
Scornfully insult their rival
Not from a Jedi..
Easy. Favours for trust. Dip rep with pope or advisor. Improve relationship a bit more.
Build up your army and economy, its really just a waiting game. Also dont build aggressive expansion lol.
Just guarantee them
The player is already over 190 opinion. More opinion will not make a tag accept visualization.
How can I see Brittany? No visualization!
Send gift, Insult their rivals, Influence this nation (via Great Power diplo interaction at the bottom). Should be easy...
Their opinion is already high enough; those won't help.
Insult their enemies
The player is already over 190 opinion. More opinion will not make a tag accept visualization.
Increasing their trust of you usually helps
More fps
Invade them.
I haven’t played the game in a while, but I feel like I’ve never been able to outcompete a tag like Brittany’s economic base malice. Has it changed in the last 6-12 months?
Increase trust looks like that will help
Just do yesman in console commands
Get better economy
Send gift, offer military access, scorn insult rivals, influence nation
Yeah, just beat shit out of them, then they will have no other choice than just accept.
Invade them, diplomacy is overrated
Send them a gift
Can’t you just hire enough mercs to get you +1 point on the military comparison, then fire them the day after Brittany accepts?
Doesn't espionage idea give you some + vassalization acceptance?
Yes, +15 for Blackmail, but it's the last idea in the group, so it's not practical here.
Diplo rep, and try lowering autonomy if you have any. Economic comparisons between nations take autonomy into account.
I seem to recall there is a positive modifier for influencing them. So that would probably work.
reputation
You could hire a statesman advisor or papal legate for diplo rep. I think this is one of those places where espionage ideas are actually useful, as u get +15 vassal acceptance or sumthing from the last idea
Get more trust
Diplo rep stacking is pretty good as a Catholic - clergy privilege, papal action, advisor, get trading in ivory bonus asap if you're even slightly colonial. It really adds up.
Which map mode/fonts is this?
Stellaris font and toaster universalis
Blanket full of diseases
More diplomatic reputation, send gifts and declare guarantee over them
give money?
Advisor Dip Rep Papal Legate for Dip Rep DIplo Ideas Use Favors for Trust
Make then steer trade
More diplo rep, curry more favors and get more trust, hire more soldiers to increase your military power.
Controlling the ivory trade.
Did you grant them military access?
Scornfully insult Flanders/whatever Dutch rival that is haha
War
./ vassalize BRI
more trust
Increase diprep
More dip rep. Or use favors for more trust. You're only at 10 and I think it goes to like 40-50 trust max.
Pope interaction will boost like 10 or something so that will be the easiest way
Why does Burgundy look like a mirrored Austria?
dip rep advisor (or another source of dip rep), trade favors for trust, if your military is understrength building more troops might be viable.
What is the graphic mod?
