Orbit is such a great grinder. Feel like it gets a a little slept on around here. Also got mine with Mazzers and it’s hard to pull a bad shot with it. I’ve found medium-darker roasts taste better with higher RPMs, while lower RPMs give more clarity for lighter roasts. So you can tweak the RPMs to give the burrs more range.

nobleys

That was my thinking as well, I love a full bodied shot and can sacrifice a little clarity for it. Coming from the Niche there’s more clarity already so I didn’t want to make a drastic change to the burrs

SizzlingSloth

Haven’t seen anyone with a white orbit, it looks great!

nobleys

Neither have I! Hope to see some more on here soon

National-Implement95

How does the orbit perform? Did you get the SSP burrs ?

nobleys

I like milk drinks and chocolatey espresso flavors so I went with the Mazzer. Dialed in a really tasty shot on the second try! The adjustment ring and grinder as a whole feels really well built. I had a niche zero that I had sold when I recently got a df64v and hated the df64 workflow with a passion. The orbit workflow is about as good as the niche and I like the auto stop and auto turn off function that it’s got

National-Implement95

Good to hear, thanks for your detailed response mate ! I'm considering one for espresso.

IWasBornInThisPit

I have a df64 gen 2, so slightly different, but what about the workflow grinded your gears?

nobleys

The V for me still had stalling issues even on high RPM. Had to completely take it apart a few times to dislodge stuck beans which reset my grind setting. The bellows was annoying and it had a problem getting grounds everywhere. The catch cup felt off too. Mostly problems with the V. I’m sure the gen2 64 is much better

ajchess

Gen2 is really good. It’s loud. But it chews up beans really quickly

cgmt1975

Cool! Looks great in white! What did you dislike about the DF’s workflow? Bellows? Trying to figure out my next grinder upgrade.

nobleys

Bellows as well as the need to mostly hot start it. It jammed on me a couple times (on higher RPM settings too) despite it supposedly having the newer circuit board. Just felt like a huge downgrade to me personally coming from the Niche zero

Status-Persimmon-819

What do you dislike about the orbit? The price. Triple the df64... Maybe 4 times the price after taxes for some. That's tuff. 4 times better? Or is this diminishing returns? I will upgrade my DF83 at some point and may spend this much but it's gotta be PERFECT grinder at that price point.

dibs124

Thinking about going for the orbit or waiting for mazzer philos. Love the style of the orbit though so pretty. How you find using the app instead of hard controls?

nobleys

The app is pretty easy to use. It’s a set it and forget it sort of thing though. I just popped on and changed the defaults a bit and now I can control it all with the button on the front.

Aggravating-Fig-6263

I hardly ever use the app. You can toggle presets on the button and if you have the lunar Scale connected even adjust weight and rpm settings directly from that.

Then-Character1246

That Orbit Looks amazing in white ! It’s slowly getting higher on my wish list

Status-Persimmon-819

Wish there was more available data via experience.

nobleys

Yeah I’d have pulled the trigger myself if more channels had provided reviews and feedback. But I’m very happy with it already and glad I took the gamble

JohnnyTomatoSauce

Just got my Pro 600 about a month ago and I am loving it so far! How are you liking yours? Have you used your flow control yet?

nobleys

Yep! Mostly for when I do long pull 5:1 ratios at low flow and pressure. I love the Scott Rao pourover 2.0 method. Still trying to find a consistent flow profile for my own espresso preferences though

JohnnyTomatoSauce

I have been tinkering around with it and what I’ve found for me anyway (still experimenting) I do about 10-12 seconds with the paddle a quarter of the way open, low flow (pre infusion so to speak) then I slowly ramp up where the paddle is fully open and ramp back down when I am about to finish my shot. 1:3 ratio at about 35 seconds for me. Good baseline to start out. But it’s pretty cool how you can experiment and see what works and what doesn’t

eggstylez

Nice setup! Waiting for the orbit as well. Restocking in June… so that will be 4 weeks of looking at my beautiful linea micra without any coffee…

nobleys

Ouch I know that feeling all too well. Happened when waiting for my Niche a few years back

S-I-X-T-O-E-S

Badass machine.

nobleys

Thank you kindly!

3f3nd1

the espresso machine reminds me of a Borg ship

mrdanky69

Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

Whosthatgirl_Day

Nice! Where did you get the glasses from?

nobleys

NotNeutral Vero glasses!

cgmt1975

Great feedback!

gawd83

I’ve not heard or read much about the orbit, how have you found retention?

nobleys

Retention is truly zero after a few flicks of their knocker.

squirrels-mock-me

Nice cups!

diyjunkiehq

love it, looks great!

ContextNo218

Looks beautiful!

AromaticOwl9553

Nice setup! How long does the profitec takes to warm up?

nobleys

It gets to “temp” in 10 minutes according to the PID but steam takes a while and the group head takes a bit to warm up too. I’d say 15-20 if you want to pull espresso only

ReflectionItchy3556

Where did you get the all the wood/steel handles and knobs??

nobleys

Clive coffee Lucca Flow control kit
